  • David R Clark on Luke 16 - 4 years ago
I have a dear family friend, whom I consider family, who is 91 years of age and who has not called on the Lord for salvation. I witnessed to him a few years back; the Holy Spirit filled his soul to prepare him to accept the salvation of Christ. He was so very close to accepting Christ but said he just could not because he knew his parents and brother are not in heaven.

I'm kicking myself for not thinking of Luke 16:19.

I have not been able to sit and talk with him because of the covid restrictions at his retirement center. Pray that the Holy Spirit will give me another chance to present the plan of salvation again.

Hi Jackie, let's pray! I believe Jesus can step into this situation.

Precious Heavenly Father, I believe that Jackie wants peace with her neighbor. Seems like somehow the enemy got in there and is creating discord. So right now Lord, I ask you to bind up the enemy and bring peace to the hearts of Jackie and the neighbors that only comes from You hallelujah thank you Jesus. Put such a love in their heart that they would know that it must be you. Give Jackie a humility and a humble spirit help her to pray for their salvation and yes even their blessings! Make an opportunity Lord for Jackie to show Grace to her neighbors in love again and soften their hearts Lord. I know you can work this situation out. Jackie desires to live in peace with her neighbors, as do all of us. please make a way in Jesus name amen

God bless and keep you and yours Jackie! Just be sensitive to the moving of the Lord. And be sure to do whatever He asks of you even if it seems weird. Step out in faith. I know God can work this out. I believe He will either work it out, move your neighbors, change something about your character, or all of the above! Love your neighbor. Love them every time the opportunity presents itself.

    Hello Dar,

1 John 5:16 says "If any man see his brother, (that is, a Christian), sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death.

You see, it's God's will that if I see a brother or sister involved in a sin that is not unto death, (The rejection of Christ which David mentioned), I can pray for every born again believer, and God's life will minister to them, because God will not allow His people to live in habitual sin. And I can pray according to His will. But then he goes on to say that there is a sin unto death: And I do not say that he shall pray for it.

Now, take a look at the next verse ( 1 John 5:17) which reads "All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death."

It says all unrighteousness is sin. That's speaking of the non-believer. And there is a sin that's not unto death. All the sins that Christians commit are not unto death. The only sin in the bible that is unto death is in Matthew 12:31-32.

Jesus said wherefore I say unto you, all manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. And whosoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaks against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

The Holy Spirit is here to convict people of their need of Christ. If a person is rejecting His testimony, they have committed the unpardonable sin. So in verse 16 where he says that there is a sin unto death: And I do not say that he shall pray for it, what this is saying is that I can't pray for someone who is rejecting Christ. I can't pray for them to get saved because that's between them and God. I just pray for His will to be done.

    Hi Femi.

I don't believe there's any mention of Boaz having other wives, but which knows.

I believe the story of Ruth and Boaz is to give us a model of a kinsman redeemer.

We study Ruth we have a better understanding of Revelation Ch 5 and 6.

    God bless.

Repentance is a necessity. Jesus preached it. I wish people would stop saying God will forgive you and start saying yes God will forgive you for your sin but you MUST repent and turn from your sins.

I don't believe one can live in sin and sinful lifestyle and claim the "grace" card. I do believe that if they really belong to the Lord they will repent at some point and turn from their sin. At least that was my case.I'm glad that I didn't die in my sin.

I said a prayer and asked God if I were to die the way that I was living because I was a believer would I go to heaven? What I am about to say is going to shock you.

Soon afterwards I woke up out of my body, it was just me and Jesus. I thought I had died, I was at the outskirts of what appeared to be Hell. I began to plead with Jesus there but He wouldn't speak to me, He wouldn't look at me either. That's when I realized it was too late. Yes I believed but I did not repent and my just reward was being handed to me. I was living a sinful lifestyle doing sinful things that I knew He didn't approve of. When I woke up back in my body I was shocked and terrified. I was so affected by this experience I couldn't speak to anybody for three days. I literally trembled and wouldn't answer my phone or door. I will never forget the look of love in Jesus's eyes. They were so full of compassion but He wouldn't hear my pleas for mercy my fate was sealed. It wasn't because He didn't want to be merciful it was that I had every chance to repent of my sin and I did not. I basically took advantage of God's grace and used the grace card to sin. Needless to say I was shocked and grateful when I woke up in my own body. I didn't talk about this experience for a year and the one person I did tell didn't believe me because they weren't saved. I rarely talk about it. It affected me deeply and changed the course of my life. I am now free from addictions. I'm still not perfect but I'm working towards getting into Gods perfect will

Hi Jackie Having read your post we endeavor to live peaceably with all men if at all possible, that being

said I believe they live in great fear not knowingly so scripturally walk in love and pray for them. Other

than that help when they allow but don't get caught up in their situation. Give it to God for a door to open

    but don't pry it.

Gigi Speaking for myself in respect of how and what the world or religions of the world do or how they acknowledge

Christ birth or resurrection, in matters of principle stand like a rock. In matters of taste flow with the current, I'm

not the judge I just answer to Him. It does amaze me the greed and lust that get triggered by the celebration

in the world. Jesus Christ led captivity captive so I don't get caught up so to speak in it. That being stated its a great time

    speak the TRUTH IN LOVE.

rejection of God and holy spirit. Basically spiritual death which is unredeemable. Ouch!

Gigi Perhaps divination is not the right term Deuteronomy 18:9-14 God giving information is revealed knowledge

not divination. Just sharing some word.

Gigi Anyone can ascribe or put [Christian Meaning] to anything but that doesn't change the reality of

what's going on. I'm not a scrooge if someone who believes goes all out for HoHo, prayerfully their all

out the rest of the year they have the same zeal for Walking by the spirit. That's my only point. Also do

you give because you want to to or you feel you have to! One has heart the other is guilt.
  • Rick - In Reply on Genesis 44 - 4 years ago
Gigi The reason I see why Joseph told the servant to put the cup there was god was showing him what to do to get

the rest of His family there, the true God does not use divination. Just making a point, Joseph walked with God so

God was showing Him the whole time what to do and how to do it.
  • Lidia Smith on Genesis 2 - 4 years ago
This is known as the 6th day creation ... the different races. Many people read this passage and don't realize or put emphasis on "Thus the heavens and the earth were FINISHED, and all the HOST of them". We were with God in spiritual body and were given the opportunity to become flesh on this earth as God became flesh in Christ Jesus.

In Chpt 1:26 He was speaking to his children "Elohim" meaning God and His children)

Chapter 1: 27 God created them simultaneously and sent them out ...He told them to be fruitful, and multiply and replenish the earth and he gave them dominion as fisherman, hunters and caretakers. (Notice he sent them out and did not place them in a certain place, garden)

Chapter 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. Here it explains that everything was finished, plus all the host (races) of them.

    Then He states that

2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. (This is a specific man, God breathed into his nostrils...this is where Christ genealogy will come from. In the Hebrew scriptures, this man Adam is Et Ha Adam (specific man).

If you think about it, if it was just Adam and Eve that we all came from, women would be giving birth to all different races of children now also.

There is so much information in the book of genesis that God has given us; all we have to do is put aside what man has told us and let God speak to us as we read His word.

Thank you Gigi - I especially appreciate your insight and discernment. I pray so much for this family, to all God to work on my heart to see them not as enemies but likewise sinners as all of us. I thought things became more peaceful. I used to ignore their carport, which is aligned with mine, but the other day, I swept their debris as well, just to do it. As mentioned, I was prepared to provide a tin box of Christmas cookies and a card, but was drawn to the sign in their window, which is written in bold letters. I'm so busy being involved with my work, business, and projects, as daughter is with hers. We realized the more we ignore them they seem to seek attention. The problem is they live in the same parcel so that even ignoring is not entirely being unaware. I've always preferred being nice would help, but a police officer observed I find it easier to talk to homeless members around the community than to the neibors next door. I understand and have observed the young man selling drugs and we often smell marijuana coming from the house. So they're not quite the kind of people we associate with, though there is greater desire to be in better if neutral terms. Association is not safe - or desired, but prayer is always on and for them.

My daughter has lived in her house here for five years. The neibors moved in last year. In the first month, he was arrested and sat in a police car in front of our house being vocally expletive, etc. That was the beginning of nightmarish behaviors we are all enduring in this block. My daughter and I are not the only neibors who have been affected by their presence. They changed the environment where the rest of us live.

Again, thank you for your prayer - I feel it speaks accurately to the situation and need in this case. Good was surely speaking to you through it.

    Thank you, Gigi

Hi Adam - thank you for your response. It's hard to see both sides w/out experiencing the context, especially over time. The young lady & I used to speak. I'm sorry we have lost that with each other - however I have to share that I'm twice her age. She's close to my daughters ages so the disputes are basically of her age standings. To answer your questions:

    1) I pray for them often. They have three young kids (2 are special needs and the youngest doesn't seem so).As a former teacher, I understand parents w/special needs children need patience from others. When they first moved in I offered multiple times to watch the children if she needed a break. She wouldn't utter anything in response. I continue to pray for her as I had often seen her as an overwhelmed parent.

    2) She suddenly became weird. I used to chat with the young man of the cuff. One day my daughter drove home and the young man and I walked over to my daughter's car, where he was looking at a bumper. The young woman burst out the door, shielded the young man, and screamed at me and my daughter that "neither of us could have him." It was a strange occurrence, and that is where we felt it would be best to no longer engage. It implied a multitude of things we saw as justifiably negative and in a dark direction.

    3) one random day, the guy stalked me in his car, dark windows, aggressive, and swift. It scared me. I had no idea from where that came.

    4) I was not snooping in the window. It is a 30x50 case window (been an architect for 35 years.) The poster board is at least 30 length/letters bold black - enough pre-attentive attributes to effectively draw the eyes - doesn't require snooping - it draws attention.

    5) I didn't grow up w/neibor conflicts, nor my daughters: as that will always be my standard. I'll continue to ensure they receive their packages, there's no behavior need or desire to act against them, or reason to think it safe to engage.

    Thanks you Chris,

Yes, so much of wat you say makes good spiritual sense. I don't think that the early church celebrated Jesus' birth, even though Mary was part of one of those fellowships and knew His birthdate. I don't think that birthdays were celebrated much in those times anyway. But if Mary had told the apostles the date of His birth, it wasn't preserved in Scripture for us to know. And yes, is death and resurrection was remembered and solemnly celebrated in their gatherings for worship. They had a meal, as you said, and I agree, the measly way we "do" communion now a days kind of "guts" the whole purpose of this ordinance, "to unify the believers in Christ."

So, I will be thinking about what you have said in regards to my questions and also see what others say. I don't plan to go against my conscience on this.
