Tipping the scales I appreciate your comment but it does not line up with the what I considered. Its not

questioning Gods word or what he does.
  • SHIELA Tsengwa on 2 Samuel 18:18 - 4 years ago
This chapter shows the fulfilment of the word of God that vengeance is His. David did not want His son to be killed but the wrath of God was on him as he rose against his father and disobeyed the Lord. it is also a lesson for us to take the word of God as it is, an never to choose fame and conspire against the anointed as God always fights their battles.

How could Jesus tell us to be perfect in Matthew when that's impossible. Why did Jesus say he came only for the lost sheep of Israel and call a Canaanite woman a dog? Why did Jesus tell us not to wash our hands before we eat? Did Jesus nullify many of the laws of Moses and if so I thought he said he came to fulfill the law and not to change one jot or tittle?
  • TIPPING THE SCALES OF BLESSING AND FAITHLESSNESS - In Reply - 4 years ago
What kind of love is it that makes something that doesn't have a choice? that's a robot. God gave us a choice and we chose to disobey a known prohibition-don't eat from the two trees! that was their one rule to obey.

What do you do when your 2 Yr old touches a hot stove? I find God To be very practical like a parent almost.

If Adam and Eve had eaten from the tree of life they would have lived eternally in a state of sin and condemnation.

Why are we always suspicious that God is not giving us a fair deal?

Does the clay turn on the Potter and say what are you doin?! what are you making??

We are not asked to lay down and be robots. we are asked to trust him!

If you are going to "trust" God to save your immortal soul; WHY CAN YOU NOT TRUST HIM FOR SAFETY AND A FUTURE?

When the tornadoes struck Kentucky, WHO PRAYED FOR THEM ALL NIGHT LONG?

    Tornadoes are natural Phenomena; weather.

Did God give Adam and Eve dominion over the earth? Do we use that? Jesus gave it back to us AT THE CROSS.

Christians can make a difference. God restored that to us, from Jesus's sacrifice on the Cross.

We think very very small. we have dominion and the ability as Jesus's children, to pray for intervention. God didn't say to us to go hide in caves. JESUS IS OUR EXAMPLE. Say to this "mountain ", be removed and cast into the sea, IN JESUS NAME! I believe and have thus decreed.

Have our churches opened shelter to those without any? Biden sent 10!!!!! Mobile homes to Kentucky!!! They need hundreds.

We let them waste our tax money and hope for miracles to rain out of the sky. Get on your knees and grab onto the Horns of the altar of God. Cry out and shake out miracles and blessing for Victims.

It called obedience. It's a "priest" standing between disaster and blessing; asking God to acknowledge our faith and obedience.

Prayer changes outcomes. It is faithless and arrogant not to pray.

Divorce is not the un- pardoned sin , an sense there are many reasons for this I'm very sure , it's only us , ( flesh people) that stand in negative judgment, an that is very sad ,.. an Jesus himself said in mark 13 , it'll be like the times of Noah ,.. an what were we doing in sodem & gamora ? Yup , sinning ,. Men with men , men with children,.. an woman too ,.. it was truly a mess ,.. an it for sure brought God down , an he destroyed them both ,..

    Janice,

Imagine fasting for 40 days as Jesus did. He was fully human and was most likely wasting away physically as most would be after that long of a fast. (I doubt He cheated on His fast). Satan thought that he had Jesus where he wanted Him, weak and willing to sell out. But the tempter did not know that the Holy Spirit was caring for Jesus and strengthening His life and spiritual nature during this time. The tempter underestimated the situation and was defeated by the very Word of God he thought he could ensnare Jesus with. Praise the Lord Almighty!

I'm presenting this for input. God in Genesis Chapter one in verse 37 says God saw everything that he had

made and it was very good , and the evening and morning were the sixth day. Also God says in James 1:13

basically that God can't be tempted or Tried and that he Tempt no man. Another point He is always endeavoring

to keep man out of the soup so to speak. Here's the question did God put the tree of the knowledge of good and

evil or did the enemy slip it in and Eve and Adam went for it when God said don't. Because the true God doesn't

deal in confusion. Like I said in the beginning this is spit balling and a perpective.

    Oh dear Georganna.

I am so sorry that you are having such troubles that are causing you to think that believing and praying to God is futile for you. I will be praying for you.

I would like to share one Scripture that the Holy Spirit "shouted" into my heart when I was burdened down with many griefs and thought about "throwing in the towel."

    John 6:66-68

From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more. Then Jesus said to the twelve, "Do you also want to go away?"

But Simon Peter answered Him, "Lord, to whom shall we go" You have the words of eternal life. Also we have come to believe and know that you are the Christ, the Son of the Living God."

So, when I was at my low point and exhausted from my struggles, the Spirit spoke to me what Peter said to Jesus.

I hope that the you will come to what I realized in that moment, that the only sure hope anyone has in this life is Jesus. No matter what happens to me, Jesus is my secure prize. This life isn't all there is, eternity awaits me and all will be made right and I will understand the purpose for all my troubles. For now, I will just walk each day in Jesus shadow, holding on to His garment with faith that nothing is impossible for Him to do for me and those I love.

    I hope this encourages you.

    Dear Lord Jesus,

Send you comfort and peace to Georganna as she cries out to you for help. You say you draw near to the brokenhearted. Let her know you are so very near to her. Lord, I pray that YOU will solve her problems since they are too big for her to do what needs to be done. Fill her with Your hope and assurance of Your love and moment by moment care. Send help right away, Lord and defeat that which is overwhelming her today. I ask this in faith in You, Jesus, in Your precious, holy name. Amen

    Hi Brother Jesse.

I've heard a lesson once before on Mathew 4:1-10. Where the word tempted/tested can be used as to prove something, Not meaning to see if he can withstand the devil but to show that he could. Similar to the word used in

Luke 14:19. And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to "PROVE" them: I pray thee have me excused.

Even though a different Greek word.

    What do you think?

    I value your take.

    God bless.

Hi Janice My addition to what has been shared the enemy always works where your weakest spiritually

but like whats been shared He wanted Jesus Christ weakest physically also he thought he would break down easier.

I am also reminding myself of Mark 9 rely not on your own understanding but some of these issues have just lasted so long sorta like Sarah becoming pregnant. I am empty and tired and without hope. One battle after another and this month 5 or more altogether? I quit

My prayers aren't strong enough or loud enough (I don't know something) John Hagee even said the prayers of a fool don't go higher than the ceiling

    Hi Janice.

just to add to what great reply Brother Jesse gave, I think it's worth mentioning in verse 1 it says he was led into the wilderness by the Spirit to be tested.

    Matthew 4:1-3.

    God bless.

  • David - In Reply on Acts 10 - 4 years ago
Gigi I think when writing the epistles he only mentions as much of His past as was necessary to promote

the gospel, I.E. giving His credentials according to the flesh under the law Philippians 3:1-15 and in Galatians

all of Chapter one because of how many believers were walking away from what he taught.
  • David - In Reply on Acts 10 - 4 years ago
Jesse My understanding of this is that according to pharisiticall law you had to be married and think have had

a child. Got to look onto that one again, by the way Hi.
  • Chris - In Reply on Acts 10 - 4 years ago
Brother Jesse. I have heard of this too: that Paul was a married man before his conversion & call. Not from historical records, but appealing to the nature of the position of the Pharisee. Paul spoke of himself as once being "a Hebrew of the Hebrews" ( Philippians 3:5) & 'extremely zealous of his ancestral traditions' ( Galatians 1:14; Acts 22:3). Marriage was the norm for Pharisees & it was also required to hold a rabbinical position. The thought is: "Paul could hardly have set himself forth as an exemplar of Pharisaical piety had he not been married."

So, indeed, Paul did "count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ" ( Philippians 3:8). Obviously, he was referring to the wealth of knowledge & interpretation of the Scriptures that had to be cast aside so that Christ might be fully apprehended, but I wonder whether he included, in his 'new' single state, that this had to be his lot for the furtherance of this newly acquired powerful Gospel that he had received & which filled him?
  • GiGi again - In Reply on Acts 10 - 4 years ago
No I have not. He never mentions any children of is own. If he was married, perhaps his wife died or left him when he became a believer?
  • Jesse - In Reply on Acts 10 - 4 years ago
Sorry, this was supposed to be a correction of my first post:

"He (Paul) mentions that (He wished) all would be like him, single!"

    I'm losing my marbles!

    Janice,

My understanding is that the tempter (Satan) in Matthew chapter 4, he came after the 40 days because he knew Jesus was going to be hungry after fasting for 40 days. So the tempter came and appealed to the flesh and was trying to get Jesus to misuse His authority. Remember, he says you are hungry, right? Well, turn these stones into bread.

This was the first of three temptation. The first temptation was lust of the flesh. I wouldn't even call it lust. I mean when you are hungry, that is a little different than lust, but that is what the word lust means. It means to place your desire upon something, to satisfy your physical desires. That is the lust or desire of the flesh. And that's what the tempter was doing, appealing to the flesh.

The second temptation, in Matthew 4:5-7 is the pride of life. "Hey, you know the Jews are expecting their messiah to come down from heaven. Why don't you make a grand entrance?" Sensationalism! "Jump down and let them see you drop 450 feet, land on your feet, and say the Messiah is here!"

And thirdly in Matthew 4:8-10, we have the lust of the eyes. Satan took Him up on a high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. It must have looked good! Satan tried to tempt Him that way.

Possibly because it would be a moment of extreme weakness. Matthew 4:2, Luke 4:2, Hebrews 4:15,

    John 10:10,

This was also a moment of Prophetic fulfillment. Luke 4:4, Deuteronomy 8:3, John 6:58,

    Deuteronomy 6:16, Matthew 4:7, Luke 4:12, Luke 4:10-11, Psalms 91:12, Matthew 4:6,

    Exodus 34:28,

    Matthew 4:1-11, Luke 4:1-21, 22-44,

    Hopefully that helps

    Hello GiGi,

This has for sure been an interesting thread on marriage and divorce. I do agree with you that Paul being single allowed him to completely focus on what the Lord would have him to do without distraction. He mentions that all would be like him, single ( 1 Corinthians 7:7). But I believe that Paul was at one time married before his conversion and then divorced at the time he wrote 1 Corinthians. There is evidence that causes me to believe he was married at one time. Have you ever heard this before?
  • Rick - In Reply on 2 Corinthians 5 - 4 years ago
Hi Jerimiah God has made a lot of things available to man but you still have to believe to receive. When

Jesus Christ was ministering when he went into His Home town of nazareth of galilee Mathew 13:53-58 he

could not due many mighty works because of their unbelief! All thing of God are given upon man first

believing to receive i.e. confess Romans 10:9+10 and believe in thine Heart action mouth then inner most part

    and then God can work.

If we're just going by what is written in this Biblical translation, it appears the chronological order is Daniel 1 being account of capture & being taught in the ways of the "Chaldeans". I likewise was studying Daniel recently & found interesting how the books are like that.

Daniel 1:1, Daniel 2:1, dates of significant recognition. 2 Kings 24:1-2,

Historical insight 2 Kings 24:3-16, this appears to be the time that brought Daniel & his friends into that place of capacity. Note they left the poor in the land 2 Kings 24:14,17,18 which may explain the historical reference mentioned by other comment. 2 Kings 25:8-12,

    Stated 19th year of Nebuchadnezzar._._.

Please note Daniel 4:6-9,18, Nebuchadnezzar acknowledged Daniel as "knowing the spirit of the holy" GOD was in him, therefore it shows Chpt 4 being after the first interpretation. Daniel 4:29, Daniel 4:23,

    Daniel 5:11, Daniel 5:20-22, Daniel 5:31, Daniel 6:28,

Please note Daniel 7:1 it goes back to time of Daniel 5. Daniel 4, to Daniel 2, In some ways, not in the same vision but the statement in Daniel 2:47, So consistantly Daniel jumps back into moments within previous Chapters to add additional situations within those time frames

Daniel 1:20, chapter 2, could also explain this statement of why Daniel 1:20, states that.

    Notice also in Daniel 5:10-14,

Hopefully these are helpful in your study
