On Nicola 's comment that "He was given 39 stripes ". I think more than that, because remember that it was the gentiles, the Romans that striped Him, and they have no such limitation as the Jews.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Acts 1 - 11 years ago
Part 2 of 3: Gifts and the calling on God are without repentance, Romans 11: 29. This is why people who are not filled with the Holy Ghost God still perform miracles in their lives. Through their faith and because of his stripes we are healed. He did not say you had to be saved to get this benefit, Isaiah 53: 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him and with his stripes we are healed.
  • Otis L. Lucas on Isaiah 53 - 11 years ago
I was raised and taught that God was a forgiving God. And that God knows all and sees all. Yet because of God 's love for us he gave of his only begotten son in order for us to have ever lasting life. Because of his selfish acts he bore all of our sins and down falls in order for us to have a chance at everlasting life.
  • Nicola on Isaiah 53:1 - 11 years ago
This prophecy has been fulfilled yet many ppl reject it. Believing the incorruptible seed of the word of God is a choice and it is a buckler to those who believe. When we believe we are releasing seed of faith and faith moves the mighty hand of God to release our healing, deliverance, protection and provision.
  • Nicola on Isaiah 53 - 11 years ago
Jesus was blameless, yet because God so love us that He gave His perfect son as a sacrificial lamb. Offering Him as a sin offering that we may have redemption and be reconciled with Him. The price that Jesus paid was a heavy one. He bore all our sorrows and grief. He was given 39 stripes and by them our healing is guaranteed. As believers sin has no dominion over us. I believe like Apostle Paul I can say let no man afflict me because as believer we bear the mark of Christ, who bore all our affliction and defeated death at the cross. Thank You Jesus. Your effort is not in vane.

Jesus carried the cross for everyone. What greater love. He gave is life that everyone can have the right to the tree of life.
  • Nettie on Isaiah 53:5 - 11 years ago
I was raised reading and teaching the Word, but not always under the unction of the HOLY SPIRIT. When JESUS was criticized by the Pharisies for saying "your sins are forgiven ", during a healing note that he often used forgiveness of sin and physical healing, one being an interchangeable prerequisite for the other and FAITH of course being the vehicle by which GOD sends the healing to us. Remember, there was no sickness in the garden of Eden before satan. JESUS was the total fulfillment of Isaiah 's prophecy. .
  • Luci on Isaiah 53 - 11 years ago
Isaiah 's time was BEFORE the cross experience. Chapter 53 even speaks of Christ 's "passion " as an event of the PAST! This agrees with everything else in the bible pointing to Christ as "the Lamb that was slain from before the foundation of the world ". Paying for the sins of His people is infinitely greater than the cross demonstration. The two thieves were also crucified with Him plus they had their legs broken. What Christ went through is beyond our comprehension. What was done about 2000 years ago, we as the two thieves, can understand and gives us just a glimpse of the past redemption by His Son. Physically paying for sin is different than spiritually paying for sin "for my way are greater than your ways... "

For those WHO don 't believe this scripture also says we are healed physically. Read Matthew 8 14 17, says that Jesus healed people in fullfil this scripture , Isaiah 53 4 5. I love how scripture interprets scripture and we don 't need so called theologians to interpret the Bible for us, the Holy Spirit is well able to do it with Scripture.

How could Jesus Christ attract and influence thousands upon thousands of people as a mortal if he was weak and frail and unappealing? I believe that as a man, he was the opposite, that not only was he humble, full of love and joy, that Christ was fully majestic, strong, commanding, beautiful and inspiring to behold. I believe that Sean 's comment is right on the mark and is inspired "...when the Lord was crucified he had no beauty in him. His face was disfigured, bloody and bruised. " This is what Isaiah was speaking about. Isaiah was not saying that our Lord and Master was not our ideal in every way as he went about doing good, day by day. Isaiah was referring to how our Lord appeared during the horrific events at the conclusion of his mortal life the atonement, the scourging, the carrying of the cross and the awful crucifixion. Otherwise, the manhood of Jesus Christ 's was inspiring, motivating and thrilling to behold. And I know that he still is!

Isaiah 53 4 and 5 reminds us the finished work of redemption by Christ Jesus. People should believe more in God than disease, sickness or virus spreading around

  • Rev. Autrey on Isaiah 53:8 - 11 years ago
Isiah 53, verse 8 reads, '8 From prison and trial they led him away to his death. But who among the people realized that he was dying for their sins, that he was suffering their punishment? ' This verse has no meaning unless we realize that it was God himself who took our punishment. That is, God did not send someone else to take our place, but came himself. I only have to remind you of the words of Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist. Elizabeth said to Mary, 'What an honor this is, that the mother of my Lord should visit me. ' Mary responded by calling Jesus 'God my Savior. ' This agrees with what we read in Isaiah 35, 'Say to those who are afraid, Be strong, and do not fear, for your God is coming to destroy your emenies. He is coming to save you. ' If this makes sense to you, ask God and he will give you more! God bless you!

Isaiah 53, verses 4 through 6 says, '4 Yet it was our weaknesses he carried, it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God for his own sins! 5 But he was wounded and crushed for our sins. He was beaten that we might have peace. He was whipped, and we were healed! 6 All of us have strayed away like sheep. ' These verses give us a different way of looksing at Jesus ' death than is commopnly presented to us. The death of Jesus is not a philanthropic thing decided by Jesus just because he was a nice guy. No! His death was substitutionary. That is, he died in our place. That Friday was the day God had planned for our death, but Jesus took our place. It is like we are marching up Calvery 's his to our death, but we see Jesus has already gone there is our place. So the healing we get is to have our sins removed, not physical healing. You can get to heaven even if you are sick, or have one eye missing, one leg missing, or after having just died of a dreaded disease. But you can 't get into heaven if you are still charged with sin. So our sins are the reason Jesus went to the cross! God bless us for considering this!

  • Rich on Isaiah 53:6 - 11 years ago
Having received the greatest gift, that caused a break in the union of the Father, and His ONLY begotten Son while he paid my price for sin. I must acknowledge Him in all my ways and live as one once dead in sin but now resurrected seated at the right hand of God setting aside anything that would separate me from Him.
  • Toni on Isaiah 53:6 - 11 years ago
We all have went away from God. We are lost and alone not knowing which way to go, trying to live in this life on our own, with no wisdom or knowledge of God. Walking by our own will, letting the devil string us along by the nose taking us whichever way he wills. But God stepped in and gave us the remedy, the Shepherd of our souls His Son Jesus. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. There is no way back to God, but by Jesus, who God took the sin of the world and placed it upon Him.

  • Blessed on Isaiah 53 - 11 years ago
JESUS IS LORD. ISAIAH IS SPEAKING OF JESUS. LORD OF LORDS. KING OF KINGS. People who stay in their mess is not giving GOD the glory. JESUS went through for us and we need to thank and praise and worship GOD for our deliverance.
  • Toni on Isaiah 53:5 - 11 years ago
Jesus paid the price to set the whole world free. One man brought sin into the world, while one man took sin out of the world. The ONLY way to be set free and to have our sins forgiven, to know peace and to be healed and made whole, is to call on the name of Jesus and to serve Him with our whole heart. He suffered for us that we could be restored back to God,through the blood Jesus shed. We can now walk in the newness of life, and know our names are written on the Lamb 's Book of Life. Do not let Jesus 's suffering and dying on the cross be in vain in your life.
  • MockingBird on Isaiah 53:5 - 11 years ago
I do not have to be sick any more. Praise God. Only symptoms come against me. When I experience any ailment that may try to come against me by the authority invested in me through Jesus Christ I overcome it. Some say it has to go but not true, when I we stand on the word of God the devil does flee .He can 't stand the name of Jesus and the Blood. He flees in fear !!!! Praise God.

  • Carolann on Isaiah 53:2 - 12 years ago
I don 't think very many people, including Christians know this verse. I have heard that the Jews have removed it from their present day Scriptures. I suppose because they don 't want to accept the fact that their prophet Isaiah told the truth which they have not been able to accept. I think it is a beautiful verse and gives us those of us born after Christ resurrected to Heaven to be with the Father, at least a physical picture of Jesus and also tells of His virtues. I enjoy the Book of Isaiah and the way he expressed has words which are very poetic. But, I wonder, if today s Christians would accept Christ so readily or even at all if the pictures of Him were to show Him much closer to the description in Is. 53 2 states??
