Earl, Thank you for your reply. By it I am understanding more of your doctrines. Some I agree with and some I do not, due to what I know is currently taught by most Christian churches today and what has been taught through the ages. I think we are at an impasse here, because I am not antithesis to receiving instruction from those God has placed over me along my life's journey to guide me as I learn God's truth. I do not believe that a Christian can learn everything that is true doctrine on their own "by the Spirit" as you say. I believe the Spirit teaches us only truth. He doesn't tell one person one truth and then contradict that truth in another believer. We do not know each others' faith journeys , nor one another's current means of fellowship and worship.

Jesus' church is a body of believers. We are to teach one another and, at the same time, remain teachable and willing to receive instruction from outside of ourselves. God places people in our paths that are used to do this. This does not negate being "taught by the Spirit" because the same Spirit is working in private learning as well as learning with and by others. I respect your point of view and appreciate you sharing it. It makes me have to think through a response that is honorable. Neither of us have perfect truth on this side of heaven. But we are both guided and indwelt by the very same Spirit. Salvation is our free gift through Jesus. We are not saved by having perfect doctrine, but are exhorted by Paul to watch our doctrine carefully. He did not distain sound doctrine, which he taught in all circumstances that he preached and established church communities. He followed up on these communities with visits and letters to ensure that their doctrinal positions were correct and corrected where they were not in line with the truth. He obviously didn't believe that these believers could learn all they needed to learn from the Spirit on their own.

We are going to be CONFORMED to the likeness of Christ. We are the pot (the body, the vessel) he is the potter.

However, Jesus did come in the People experienced Him with their five senses. He used real life, five sense explanations to highlight spiritual truths. I agree that we are to learn spiritual truth through the Spirit. I also believe that God gave us our physical five sense existence to experience him and He is plainly known through what he has made.) Without the work of the Holy Spirit, none of us can come to God for salvation. But it is through hearing the gospel that we believe. We do not come to the knowledge of the gospel simply by inner intuition.

Sister GiGi, I was saying the parable is not literal but has a hidden meaning.

Thank you sister GiGi! I think that's why Paul says to comfort one another with these words from Thessalonians. Or as Jesus says of our Heavenly Father - I am not the God of dead but the God of the living in Mark 12:27 !

Hi Unknown Just an input Gods Word is truth we are going to defend God? We speak the truth in love I do't try to prove God or His Word I share and teach and endeavor to display his love then people make up there minds. Hi Gigi One of the many challenges to me when understanding scripture it is God communicating how he works and how he wants to work for and in us via His Spirit. We live in pardon my unique analogy a five senses matrix that works against our spiritual man. To just say I'm not going to walk by the senses to me doesn't fit, it is a lifetime of determined focused change of thought into action, walking by faith not by sight. In the old testament when the prophet Samuel went to Jesse 1 Samuel 16 God even had to tell his man verse 7 I don't see things the way you do and he isn't the one then when he showed him seven sons Samuel ask the question is this it then Jesse sort of like well there is one more but he's sort of the runt, sends for the boy verse 7 this is he anoint him. Fantastic example, even the prophets who were human just like us fought the five senses. So we do our best and let God do the rest.
