I have never been endangered by responding to the nudge of the Holy Spirit. I'm just an ordinary believer; not rich or poor. I have enough, and to spare with another.

Ive seen what some children do with a deceased parents belongings. It makes sense to me to give it to someone who would enjoy it.

Giving, always gives me deep joy. I live near a huge orphanage. I take them good reusable items to sell in their onsite store. The proceeds are used for store bought necessities for the orphans (all ages). A lot of people do. I support Salvation Army because they give things to people who are flooded or burned out of their homes. It makes me happy to know "someone" gets new dishes or new sets of pots and pans; sheet sets.

I had a home burn up. For years I'd look for things and realize they got burned up. My sweet neighbors saved my pets (I was at work when it burned)

Fire teaches you what is truly important. :D

Many homeless aren't fakers. It's painful to be hungry and people look away. If I'm going downtown I take 6 Turkey sandwiches and 6 bags of chips and cookies. At least I know they got a good lunch. I can't cure homelessness, but I can fill an empty belly. Look for the ones who are skinny and have pain etched in their faces; or a kid who shouldn't have to be hungry.

Listen to a song Mac Davis recorded: "Whoever Finds

This. I love you." Loneliness kills more people than anything else.

Everybody in heaven is saved. Now__is when we can show heaven to someone lost in darkness and pain.

Gigi, God sees us everywhere. He's lookin for anyone who will go, for Him.

Just to take this further, Jim. I'm assuming that you're referring to Luke 3:38: "Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God." To remain true to the original language, the phrase "the son" (wherever it appears in the reading), is not shown in Greek. Rather, it would read, "...of Enos, which was of Seth, which was of Adam, which was of God"; as it would similarly read for the others in that passage.

From research, one can learn that in these verses (vv24-38), the Greek word 'tou' (with the genitive) means 'belonging to'; though in Luke 3:22,23, the word 'Son' is definitely used. Why the translators chose to add "the son of" is known only to them, though I suspect that in almost all cases there was a clear line of humanity (of 'begetting') which they carried through to the beginning, that of Adam. And the fact that "the son" is shown in italics, indicates that they understood that it wasn't in the original language.

With that aside, the 1 Corinthians chapter 15 reference by the apostle, was to show that though both Adam & Christ were alike in their 'coming' from God, their origins were totally different. Adam was created from the dust of the earth - Christ created into humanity by the Spirit of God ( Luke 1:35). The first was a product of the earth - the second a product from Heaven. True, Jesus was humanly formed & birthed & that was so, for His Coming was to be understood from the Davidic line, fulfilling the prophecies that went before Him & of course, to lay down His Life as a Sacrifice for all.

Then to assert that "Adam is also God", would be false, as there was nothing about Adam's creation to indicate that another god was produced & then fell. But for Jesus, His Coming was from God's Presence & Being - entitling Him to be called the Son of God & also worshipped.

    Dear Jim,

This will be the last time I reply to you on this topic.

I took ample time to show numerous verses that clearly say Jesus is God and you deny it. It sounds like your heart is closed based on your response. That is between you and God. No amount of dialog between us will likely change your mind. So, I will wish you well because you are putting your hope and trust that verses like John 1:1 are wrong. It says Jesus (the Word) is God and you believe Jesus is "not" God. It sounds like you are reading it with your own premise, THEN finding and interpreting scripture to fit your premise, rather than starting with reading scripture first with an blank slate THEN praying for understanding. Every one of your points above are answered by just reading the Bible without any filters or bias.

While I appreciate respectul dialog up to this point, what I don't appreciate is a disingenious comment such as this "you totally ignored it." This is false. I didn't ignore anything. To try to figure out what you accused me of "ignoring" I now scrolled up to a higher comment where you posted a verse to someone else. Of course your same assumption of "ignoring" could be said about you, because you didn't respond to each of the verses like John 1:1 that I actually replied to you, not to someone else like you did.

You also didn't respond to my question to you if you've prayed about this? Have you prayed to know the truth about Jesus and have you felt any confirmation or anything in your heart as a response? I won't characterize you as intentionally ignoring as you did to me, but it's noteworthy that you haven't responded to this important point. God bless.

John the Baptists, was a cousin of Jesus Christ, according to scriptures. John was it who Baptized Jesus in Jordan. John was sent to be the forerunner of Jesus the Christ.

John said that Jesus is the incarnated Word of God, bringing "grace and truth," replacing the law given by Moses, and making God known in the world.

Howbeit, when John was imprisoned, he send his disciples to ask Jesus; if he was the one (Messiah)? The one who it is to: "Save Israel from their sins, and bringing them to God."

Question is: "What prompted John, to inquire if Jesus, was the one? Wasn't John filled with the Spirit to discern Jesus was the sent Messiah? Does Spirit filled prophet of God, know not the operation of the spirit?

I need Jesus every second, of every minute, of every hour each new day. For sin in me wants what is not of God the Father. Without Jesus beside me, then what matters in this sinful world. Let not the hours be wasted on self, let His commandments guide and protect us and all who follow the Ways of Christ our Kingsman Redeemer. Jesus must be our all in all forevermore.

Amen, David. A good reminder to stay faithful to Scripture and stay prayerful in all circumstances. Being in tune with the Holy Spirit to be aware of His promptings to intercede with His assistance and participation.

For me, I am becoming more and more conscious of how I spend my time and weeding out fruitless activities not because I don't think I should have those that I enjoy, but because I want to be more delighted with those things that God calls me to do than whatever my hobbies may be or what I find that pleases me. It is fine to have these things, but not to be consumed by them. I guess I could say that I am in a "purging" season in my life.

James 1:21 here we are taught the message that the soul is saved by faith with works, the Apostle James writes teaches three commandments, the first is to lay aside all filthiness, number two is to lay aside an abundance of wrong doing, the third is to receive with meekness, the Ten Commandments that was written in the heart of every Christian, for this is able to save out souls. This appears to be the same theology that the Lord Jesus taught the Lawyer in Luke 10:25-28 when he answered the question on how to inherit eternal life, Jesus said keep the Ten Commandments written in the heart and you shall live.

Good evening Christopher, I agree that the sin against the Holy Spirit is blapshemy. Many people give differing explanations of what such blasphemy is. I have been taught and by my study of Scripture, like you said, is attributing the works of the Holy Spirit to demons or Satan.

I do not think that blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is not believing the truth or knowing the truth and rejecting it because of the story of the prodigal son. He knew His Father and rejected the life the Father offered him and went the way of the world. He did repent and returned to a Father who forgave Him and rejoiced over him. This story tells me that people may stray from their belief in Jesus or reject the faith they were brought up in, but can be given repentance from God and turn back and be forgiven.

Also, the Israelites were told again and again to turn back to the Lord, and again and again the Israelites did repent and God accepted their repentance time and time again. With three sons who were brought up in the faith and believed in Jesus and all three having gone the way of the prodigal, I cannot say that they would not be forgiven or unable to turn back to God. These Scripture accounts tell us otherwise. Therefore I have hope for them and tell them that there is hope for anyone to turn back to God and be forgiven and restored back to faith.

It seems on several levels - we have experienced similar things - first, with our children - and now, your background.

I won't tell the 'long story', but I surely do know about not having much when we were kids, and always working hard and trying to be responsible with finances and taking care of things properly! The good side to not having much at times in life is that it makes you appreciate things more; it makes one able to enjoy simpler things, and to be content with less! Not having too much makes life uncomplicated too! Isn't it funny, the more 'stuff' we have, the more chaotic things feel! :)

In any case, Gigi, I have enjoyed getting to know you through your transparent, heart-felt 'conversations'! I'm so glad that I came upon this 'Discussion' page - quite by accident! i was looking up some verses, and noticed the 'button' at the top of the page and clicked on it! I've been blessed ever since! :) Praise God!

    Blessings, dear sister....

1John1:3That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

Christians forsake fellowship with each other for companionship with dogs, cats, golf, sports, bars, dining out, children, grandchildren, etc. Justify yourself all you want, but it is time to be convicted by the truth. We prefer the comfort and safety of a dog companion, to a meaningful Christ-like engagement with our fellow believers.

    Well said, Adam.

Those who deny that Jesus is God have to pervert Scripture in ways you noted. Throughout the history of the church there have been those who deny the divinity of Jesus or His humanity. These ideas have been dealt with repeatedly over the centuries and Scripture refutes these claims and the church regards these claims as grave error. And here it emerges once again in this century. You are right to equate denying Jesus divinity with one who does not believe in Him.
  • Jim - In Reply on 1 John 1 - 4 years ago
    Hi Adam

Your opening comments are very interesting.

The things you say of me are exactly what you are doing.

You also didn't address the passage in 1 Cor 15:45, you totally ignored it.

Luke 3:38 Adam is called the son of God. Jesus is compared to him.

He is also the son of God. The two Adams. The first one failed the second one didn't.

Jesus is now at the right hand of God and Jesus has been given all power from God.

Jesus will reign until the last enemy is destroyed and that enemy is death.

Then Jesus gives everything back to God and is subject to him. 1 Cor 15:28

You say I denied Jesus divinity. What do you mean by that? Jesus is at Gods right hand.

He is Gods son. He is in a very divine position.

But is he God? No, he is the son of God. No ware in the scriptures is he called God the Son.

Lets look at some of the scriptures you sent me.

    John 14:6 Consider John 5:30, 6:38, 7:16, 14:24,31

His words were his Fathers not his own. The doctrine he spoke wasn't his. He didn't do his own will but his Fathers.

This is why Jesus said I and my Father are one. John 10:30

The Jews accused Jesus of saying he was God. Where did he direct them? Psalm 82:6-7

The scripture called men gods. They were the rulers of Israel. They were Gods representatives.

1 John 5:7 This verse is very interesting. It is not included in a number of other versions.

These are American Standard Version, Bible in Basic English, Easy to Read Version, English Standard Version, Good News Bible,

International Standard Version, Revised Version and World English Version. Why is it not included in these versions?

Jesus was sent and the one sending is greater then the one being sent. John 13:16

Jesus was in the beginning with God in that God new what man was about. Man would need a saviour.

Geneses 3:15 The seed of the woman. Before Abraham was, I Am.

    Dear Lou,

Scripture gives us much information about what will occur during the end times. Look up what Jesus says about it in Matt. 24; Mk. 13. Lk. 19. There are a large numbers of prophetic verses about the end times in the OT and NT, especially in Revelation.

For me, I study the Scriptures to learn what is said there about the end times. I heed the words of Jesus for us to be know the signs of the time, be watchful, ready, waiting, looking for Him, prayerful, and to have faith that endures to the end. I stay abreast of what happens in our world to see if there are things happening that may be fulfilling what Jesus said or other prophecies. But even more so, I chose to live godly life in this wicked age and to set Christ aside in my heart so as to be ready to give an answer to any who inquire about the hope I have within me, which is Jesus Christ, our hope of glory.

We still need to continue to work and provide for ourselves and our families even if it should prove that we are in the end times. We are to continue to do (while it is still day) the work God has tasked us to do for the kingdom until He returns. We are to continue in doing good to others, worshipping with other believers, engage in our sphere of influence, care for those in need in our communities according to our abilities, and everything we would normally do if it didn't seem like the end times.

Right now, our world is in a precarious position as it has been in the past century with two world wars and other regional conflicts. We have had prosperity in past decades but now with covid effects and inflation rising, our economic situation is unsettling. With weather events such as recent tornadoes and hurricanes along with other catastrophes like earthquakes, drought, famine it seems that our world is in a spiral. But that does not mean equivocally that we are in the end times, as history shows that humanity has gone through great tribulations before. But it doesn't mean we are NOT in the end time
  • GiGi again - In Reply on Philippians 3 - 4 years ago
Julian, As some have pointed out, dogs are God's creatures and were created as being good. Dogs are one of many animals God has allowed us to domesticate. Not all animals can be. So, I think God purposed this to be so. Mankind continues to domesticate new species of animals. Some people have iguanas for pets and they can be tamed and leash trained. Some people have emus or ostriches for pets or raise them for food. Some people have birds like parrots for pets. We have domesticated rabbits (an unclean animal in OT), guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, ferrets, llamas, elephants, and horses. All of these are God's creatures and were created being good by God.

So, if you do not like dogs or any other animal, that is your prerogative, but to God, every creature He created was created good before Him.

    God Bless You, Julian
  • GiGi - In Reply on Philippians 3 - 4 years ago
Dear Julian, I myself am not much of a dog person and have never had a dog for a pet. I have had cats, which I prefer. But domesticated dogs are pets or helpers on farms or for security or police enforcement purposes. They serve man in many ways.

In biblical times, they were not domesticated like today. They were not welcome into homes and ran around in packs scavenging and being brutal to other creatures and humans.) But now, thousands of years later, dogs have been breed for many purposes for mankind. They are loyal and good companions to many. I do not like it when dogs jump up on me, growl at me, run at me, etc. but I don't mind well behaved dogs. But everyone is entitled to their own opinion about dogs. i am just not sure that the Bible expressly forbids having dogs as pets. Maybe you know of a Scripture that speaks to this.

It seems to me that political views are increasingly being expressed in "Kill or be killed" terms. Those were the same terms Jesus faced when he came. Roman rule was increasingly seen by most Jews as an existential threat that the Messiah had to destroy. However, Jesus solution was not to kill, but to be killed. I am glad it was, since there would be no salvation or eternal life for any of us if He had chosen to kill instead of to be killed. But the nation of Israel was destroyed when false Messiah's increasingly radicalized the Jews away from the cross into political rebellion.

    Matthew 10:38-39

38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

    Matthew 16:24-25

24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If anymanwill come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

This concept is so important that Jesus said these nearly identical words at least twice. When Jesus said this the disciples had no idea what He really meant to the point that Peter later even tried to rebuke Jesus over it. However, by the time these words were written in Matthew's Gospel the Holy Spirit had been given and the disciples understanding had been so changed that virtually all of the Apostles were violently killed for Christ. Jesus calls us to follow Him all the way and He was always up front that He demands our willingness to submit to our own deaths for His sake like He willingly submitted to His death for our sake. He overcame the world and so must we.

So count the cost and follow Him. And if anyone says it is either us or them to try to scare us or anger us over anything in this world to tempt us away from Christ's true calling of the cross, Christ has shown us the response we must give them. "Get behind me Satan

Alvin, how do you pay for your housing, groceries, medical, etc.? Do you work for money? If not, who pays for your needs?
  • GiGi - In Reply - 4 years ago
Thank You Kay, I was raised in poverty going back 5 generations. We were taught not to expect others to provide for us, but to be thankful when someone helps us out. I have 9 siblings and we did not have much that others in our neighborhood had, but we had what we needed, thanks to being able to grow a large garden and gleaning. We were taught that it is not a sin to be rich or poor, but were encouraged to work for pay from a young age, have a good work ethic, and take advantage of opportunities to improve our situation. We were able to go to college due to financial aid. I was always thankful for this, since I realized it was other people who paid the taxes that paid my financial aid. I felt an obligation to be a serious student and doe well in college as I was spending money others had earned. I graduated magna cum laude. This opportunity to obtain a degree and career along with meeting my husband who paid his own way through college, allowed us to raise our children without being in poverty. We did not have much during those years of raising children because I stayed home to raise them, but we made sure we used our money wisely and our children had what they needed (as I did) but also some extras, like playing soccer and baseball (which costs money, my parents would have never been able to pay for that for even one child let alone 10). We camped for our vacations and saw a good part of our state of Washington over the years. We loved being outdoors and it was a lot cheaper than most other vacations. But our children were the first generation in my lineage to not grow up in poverty. That is a big blessing. We did not have an overabundance of money, but we provided a good life for them. My mom always said that she would rather be in a financial tax bracket where she had to pay taxes than in the one she has always lived in where she does not have to pay taxes. But she never bemoaned being poor.

So, I speak from this background as well as from the Word.

Manuel, Christ is giving you great insight to his truths, so I hope you take what I write as encouragement and not criticism.

In you comment, you said Christ would raise them up the last day.

Manuel, the ones that God gave to Christ to be priest in the kingdom were resurrected with Christ.

Revelation 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection, on such the second death hath no power, but they shall shall be priest of God and Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

When you depart this flesh, in the twinkle of an eye you will put on immortality, and reign with Christ.

This ONE DAY (as a thousand years) began on penecost, when we could have the SEED indwell us. You WILL BE the exactness of Christ.

Luke 20:35 But they (the ones God gave to Christ) which shall be worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection of the dead .....

Luke 20:36 Neither can they die anymore (you died on the cross): for they are equal unto the angels (you become a ministering spirit); and are the children of God, BEING THE CHILDREN OF THE RESURRECTION.
