Thank you brother ChrisE. I'm generally with the same view as what you've expressed here, & my thanks for sharing it & the Scriptures. My point to the other brethren, was about the state & location of the spirit of one who has deceased. I too believe that the spirit returns to the Lord Who gave it, but many, I would suspect, have the view that the spirit of man lingers somewhere, though not knowing where. But this view presents other problems with one's immediate accountability with the Creator & Giver of life. Thank you again.

Thank you again brother Carleton for those deep & engaging thoughts. Indeed, our whole attitude & presentation to all must be as seen in our Master. He knew all men & yet withheld Himself from using their devices of carnal attack & judgement. He always did the Will of His Father ( John 6:38), always replicating the Father's Words & Acts in His Life & Ministry ( John 5:19).

His powerful, yet succinct Words to us are, "to be wise as serpents, and harmless as doves" ( Matthew 10:16), for indeed, we as Christ's Church are in the "midst of wolves", & we are not to be ignorant of the evil one's devices in urging those wolves on & upon us. Yet, when under attack, & they come from a myriad of sources, our response needs to be one as was written of our High Priest: "One who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens" ( Hebrews 7:26). As even the apostle urged us, to "be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world" ( Philippians 2:15).

Our light can only truly shine when Christ's Light shines through us. If there's only a flicker, the world will never be moved, they remain in darkness & our flicker of light might even be extinguished. As the world sees us in full submission desiring only that the Lord's Name be lifted up, they might also see how Jesus submitted to His Father's Will going the full distance to the Cross for them. That joy & peace that was the Lord's continual possession even to enduring the Cross, must be our portion as well, even in manifold trials & exercises of faith - and thus we can always follow peace with all men. Every blessing brother.

Lord I'm losing my way to you. I am alone like a stranger in a strange land.. trouble is overcoming me and I am lacking instincts and intuition. I can't feel you anymore and surrounded by others opinions and sayings confusing my mind. It's affecting my body. Im searching for my spirit and need to protect my soul. For what reasons I do not know.

  • Chris - In Reply on 1 Thessalonians 4:17 - 4 years ago
Thanks for your response, Bill. You wrote: "Paul does not say the body will be raised; The sleeping spirit is raised from its rest, or sleep." Yet, in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 we read: "For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him." Of course, there can be discussion on why God's Name is mentioned here, but the verse says that those who have slept (in Jesus), God will bring with Him. And in the following verses, "the dead will rise first". Who then would be those whom God brings & the dead rising, if the dead doesn't represent bodies of people?

My mention of Lazarus is the one spoken of in John chapter 11, the brother of Mary & Martha. But since you mentioned Lazarus of Luke 16:19-31, believing this account to only be a parable, then in my understanding, Jesus never used people's names in His parables. If this was a parable, the Pharisees & others listening to Him, could well ask Jesus, who Lazarus was. Jesus of course, would have to say, 'I just made up this fictious name', thereby giving them further reason to continue their derision of Him. It was always, 'a certain man, or a sower who went out', as unnamed people in parables. Then of course, Paul's description of sleep, in my understanding, is simply the body lifeless & decaying, awaiting the resurrection when the spirit is joined to the resurrected body, as in Matthew 27:52,53, when bodies of the saints were resurrected at Jesus' crucifixion. Those spirits must have returned, the bodies recomposed, & another spectacle of proof of the One Whom they crucified. So, it may be quite possible, that a similar miracle will take place at the Lord's Coming, of spirits returning to their newly reconstituted bodies.

Anyway, thank you for sharing your thoughts brother.

Enoch (Hebrew: meaning "initiated") is a name in the Hebrew Bible used by two separate figures who lived during the generation of Adam.

The first Enoch was the son of Cain.

He is described as a son of Cain, and father of Irad. After Cain arrived in the Land of Nod, to which he was evicted by the Lord as his punishment for murdering his brother Abel. His wife became pregnant and bore Cain's first child, whom he named Enoch.

The SECOND Enoch was a descendant of SETH, the third son of Adam, and great-grandfather of NOAH ( Genesis 5:22-29). Seth is the bloodline of Jesus Christ ancestors and Must Not be Confused with Cains ancestor.

I posted this yesterday. Previously I noticed while looking at Genealogy charts on Google: that there were 2 persons, each named Enoch.

However one of them was ancestor of Cain. The one who killed Abel.

Thank you Rick. I generally agree with what you've written, except for the reference to "born again". "when a believer falls asleep His spirit goes back to God who gave it, Hence born again of Gods spirit." My understanding is that re-birth must begin on Earth, i.e. after repentance & faith in Jesus, God's Spirit enters the forgiven sinner, baptizes him into Christ & cohabits with man's spirit, renewing & energizing him. If re-birth didn't take place now, then we will remain in continual fear & state of anguish for sins, not having the Holy Spirit's Work of confirming our acceptability & new relationship with God ( 2 Corinthians 5:17; 1 Corinthians 3:16; & many more) - all showing that the Spirit's residence is evidence of a re-birth, and this happens now & not when our spirits return to God. That is my understanding - unless I have misunderstood you.

  • Walking in Forgiveness and Following Jesus - In Reply - 4 years ago
As Followers of Jesus, we have to walk in forgiveness__because we are forgiven.

    Matthew Chapter 6

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

14 For if you forgive men their (sins against you) trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

15 But if you forgive NOT men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive YOUR trespasses.

Do being a follower means that our old ways of being angry, railing on someone who treats you wrong some way, becomes an OPPORTUNITY to be like Jesus and forgive them. I just say, "I forgive you" real quickly. Nine times out of ten, the other person will say they are sorry too.

I view this as a good habit that doesn't cost me.
  • Chris - In Reply on 2 Maccabees 7 - 4 years ago
Hi Glen. I didn't believe you to be a Roman Catholic - I answered your question in the way I thought you meant it, about the Roman Catholic Church having problems with 2 Maccabees.

However, to your other question: it is true that the 1611 KJV did have the Apocrypha in them, but it should be noted that it was placed between the Testaments & for historical reasons only, and usually with a note to speak of their non-inspired writing, that they should not be included into the Canon of Scripture & with several reasons (7, I believe) given for their spurious inspiration/authorship.

Unlike the RC Bibles & others which included the Apocrypha within testamental books. For reasons I can't fully verify, I understand that because of the sheer weight of Bibles in those days (up to 40 lbs), the Apocrypha was omitted, and in respect of the Bible printers, this was a boon, since their job became easier & they could sell the Apocrypha as a separate volume, thereby making a further profit. However, you may want to check out this aspect. Trust this better answers your question, Glen.

There is a difference between the SUN and the Light. Genesis 1:3, 1:14-17. Revelation 21:23, Revelation 12:1-2. MINISTRY OF THE TWO ELIJAS

Many have stumbled over the Ministry of John the Baptist and Malachi 4:5-6. For some reasons:

    They do not know their ministries;

    John the Baptist Ministry:

1:17And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

    Malachi 4:5-6 Ministry:

Malachi 4:6And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

    Similarities in these ministries

John The Baptist Foreran the First Coming of Jesus Christ.

Malachi 3:1Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts. Matthew 11:9-10

Malachi 4:5-6 Foreruns the Second coming of Jesus Christ.

Matthew 17: 11And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things. Revelation 10:7

    Differences

John the Baptist was he voice of one crying in the wilderness.

    Mark 1:3

The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. John 10:41

    Malachi 4:4-6

His ministry was to carry the Gift of Divine healing and Revealing the mysteries hid in the bible before the second coming.

Malachi 4:2But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. JOEL 2:31, MALACHI 4:6, REV 10:7

NOW IF ANYBODY COMES TO TELL US ABOUT REPETANCE WE KNOW THAT, THAT WAS THE MINISTRY OF JOHN THE BAPIST.IF SOMEONE COMES AND CLAIM TO BE ELIJAH OF MALACHI 4:5-6 WITHOUT THE MINISTRY OF DIVINE HEALING BUT SUBSTITUTES

  • Jesse - In Reply on Daniel 5 - 4 years ago
    Hello Rick,

I'll have to take another look at that chapter. I know you mention context, but I still cannot see how Enoch would be included with those in chapter 13, especially when chapter 5 says that God transferred him and that he would not see death. What are your thoughts on the phrase "he was not found." To me, if he died a normal physical death, they would have known where his body was. It is my belief that both Enoch and Elijah never experienced physical death and that God took both of them prior to experiencing death. You are the first believer that I've talked to that says Enoch died a normal physical death. What are your thoughts on Elijah? Did Hod take him before he experienced death?

Charles Capps was my friend. He's deceased now. Still has a teaching on YouTube, Titled: the Authority of the Believer. listen to it and get ALL the scripture references.

The Dominion God gave to Adam

+ the Authority of the Believer in Christ

= Total Destruction of Satan's Power against

    Believers in Jesus Christ.

Satan (as an outlaw spirit) stole Adams Dominion briefly. That includes all the principalities, powers and demons mentioned in Ephesians 6. They are all outlaws since the Birth of Jesus as HUMAN.

The Dominion was given to a human Adam.

By Abrahams (in Covenant with God) willingness to sacrifice his own son, Isaac; the plan was set in motion to redeem mankind through Jesus the Messiah. He had to be fully God, and fully Human (THE SON OF MAN) or, the son of a human.

He set aside His power, to come to earth as a newborn baby.

Jesus appeared at times in the Old Testament as the Son of God. He was in the furnace with the 3 Hebrew children in Daniel. He wrestled with Jacob, etc.

Time rolled onward; And the genealogy Bloodline, until Bethlehem. Mary and Joseph were both descendants of King David. (A prophesy fulfilled)

I'm going to skip forwardif Satan knew what the Godhead was doing, he would've not allowed the crowd to scream "crucify Jesus" and then do it. He was sure that he had gotten rid of Jesusuntil the 3rd day when Jesus came out of the Tomb!!!

We CHRISTIANS have the Dominion, the Authority of Jesus Christ to ruin Satan's plans EVERY day. The Holy Spirit accomplishes the WORD OF GOD coming out of our mouth. "It is WRITTEN"

We've been given everything we need to make satans life a nightmare. Many, many sons and daughters of God using Jesus's Name, His Authority, Dominion, over all the works of Satan and his demons. The Holy Spirit will give us the names If We Ask Him!

We are children of the Most High God; not orphans! Jesus is our High Priest and the King of Glory. reread top line

PARA is a non word. You see it in words like paragraph, etc.

    Maybe you meant PARAH

    Joshua 18:23 Context

20And Jordan was the border of it on the east side. This was the inheritance of the children of Benjamin, by the coasts thereof round about, according to their families. 21Now the cities of the tribe of the children of Benjamin according to their families were Jericho, and Bethhoglah, and the valley of Keziz, 22And Betharabah, and Zemaraim, and Bethel, 23And Avim, and PARAH, and Ophrah, 24And Chepharhaammonai, and Ophni, and Gaba; twelve cities with their villages: 25Gibeon, and Ramah, and Beeroth, 26And Mizpeh, and Chephirah, and Mozah,

    Wesley's Notes for Joshua 18:21, 23

Jericho - For tho' the city was destroyed, the territory remained.

    This is some scary stuff.

Y'know, the more I read stuff like this- the more I think I don't stand a chance of entering heaven

Yes I know, that Jesus died for all of us. Yes I know, that the redeemed have been washed in His blood.

Then I read verses like Hebrews 10:26-31:

26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:

29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.

31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

I really don't know where I stand. Back in the days when I first got saved, I was led to believe that just praying "the sinners prayer" once got one into heaven. I thought I was safe. While I may have received the Truth, I didn't understand it. While I didn't do anything really bad like murder or sleep around, I stumbled around in my life trying to figure things out. I may have goofed in a few places. I did murmur a lot because I never received any help. I have no one to blame but myself.

If one ignores God, God will leave them alone. The Holy Spirit of God sees all, hears all and knows our darkest thoughts and the desires of your heart. We must desire God's Will in our lives. If we don't, everything we try to do on our own will turn to garbage.

Brethren in submission to the Lord Jesus Christ of this website. Is it not of interests how not many days ago here in the US we watched migrants under the stool of our border which provided some shade as decisions on what to do were made? Hopefully we prayed for God's Will be done and that our lives in Jesus Christ remained free. With a free heart we can also have a sincere prayer for precious Christians and some young children that are being held against their will for a price by kidnappers.

    From Christian Aid Ministries Associates:

Tomorrow October 21 all believers are invited in Fasting and Prayer for: "The victims, for endurance, faithfulness, and a spirit of Christlike love. Pray for their release and that they could follow the example of Jesus who said of His enemies, "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do" Luke 23:34

The kidnappers- that they would experience the love of Jesus and turn to Him.

Government leaders and authorities- as they relate to the case and work toward the release of the victims.

This time of difficulty reminds us of the ongoing suffering of millions of Haitians. While our workers chose to serve in Haiti, our Haitian friends endure crisis after crisis, continual violence, and economic hardship. Despite the difficulties and dangers involved with working there, both our Haitian and American workers carry a vision to minister the love of Jesus in Haiti. Our goal is to seize opportunities around the world, even in difficult contexts, to follow the footsteps of Jesus, who "went about doing good".

    God bless our faithfulness.

    Amen.

Hello Brother Chris, I am a poor choice to edge myself into the subject of Non-resistance but I see how without its presence in the life of a Christian one can wander into preparations or arming themselves for the punishment and or destruction of Babylon. It will be heathen hands as Jeremiah preached that overtake Babylon. Jeremiah 51:11, 28-29. The Christian must not interfere in God's vengeance against all unrighteousness in spiritual Babylon. The sword of opposition is not Bible doctrine. Revelation 17:12-13 Summarized- Power is give to the kings and in one mind and strength to the beast. Revelation 17:14 Summarized- The war is with the Lamb. The Lamb will overcome as he is Lord of lords and King of Kings. His followers who are with him are chosen and faithful. It is the non-resistance of these believers that they can be with the Lamb as he overcomes spiritual Babylon that great city, which is the complete opposite of New Jerusalem.

Likely there will arise those whom may riot and gain followers but they will eventually be scattered as they are resistant to submission. I am certain that repeating the vision and revelation of the Lamb may be tiresome. However another happening as "I Stood" by the Lamb was it would have been near impossible to make myself lower than He. That is how we are, how I am and how we must completely surrender to His testimony of Peace.

By faith and love. We can write more together in this short walk if time allows.

Urgent need for a young family.

(Dad) raised up in hate and has severe anger issues. Raised by his mom, a practicing witch.

(Mom) is suffering from long term severe deep depression and unable to function, also with child, and usually physically ill.

The children are suffering. The parents are suffering. They all need deliverance. And to be set free.

Please please help me pray for this young family. They've been coming to church.

Please cover this young family in prayer and these precious children.

The oldest child absolutely loves The Lord. And The Bible. He lights up when I tell him about the love The Father has for him. He looks me in the eyes and asks, " Am I going to Heaven ?". I reassure him again of Gods plan of salvation and he lights up. He's only 6 years old.

God has a plan to use this family for His glory. Many will be saved, I'm sure of it.

    Thank you church family!

Lord, in Jesus name, save and deliver this family today! Continue the work you have begun in them. Break every chain off of their lives, give them joy and peace. Help them to take hold of your Word, Heavenly Father! Stand on Your promises! Tear down the strongholds! They shall live and not die! Have hope and a future! In Jesus name. Amen.
