This is the most comprehensive chapter, a one-stop shop of dos and don'ts for Christian living. It is the charter that Christians who are saved by grace must learn to live by.

I was looking for the 10 commandments but I could this instead; and I am lucky because i use to love reading this and I had not done so for long time and I had forgotten it. I think that I have already considered this as a favourite reading. From verse 3 to the end I love it. I think that the 10 commandments is cap 20 exodus, no longer needs to search BYE

    How old was Jesus ?
  • Bruce on Matthew 5 - 9 years ago
Sabra: when we were kids we would tell a story and swear by our mothers grave or that Lightning would strike us down, if it's a lie. I'll curse you with the fleas of a thousand camels if you don't believe me! Adults do the same. I swear I would never---! They say these things to make it more believable. That's what Peter was doing, not using foul language.
We can just say yes or no.

Hello, Sabra Matt.5:36 is by scripture that it is above mankind pay grade to sware by anything. V37 explains that fact. Which said, But let your words be Yea, yea; Nay, nay what is more than these is from evil DBT. The biblical experts say let the Bible interpret the Bible. Glory to GOD in the highest. Amen!

I think that Matthew 5 is the best chapter for people to take the time to read and give god thanks everyday. I am a living witness to that he has seen me through all of these trials and trublations I have had 18 surgeries and God bless me and brought me through them all.He is what gets me through the hardest times and I truly believe that he has a plan for us all pray and trust in God always amen.

This verse is what inspired me to pray for an estranged friend, the day after we had our major fight. Unfortunately, their actions as a lost person have prevented reconciliation up until now but I pray they get saved and that we can reconcile.

Praise the Lord (Jesus) for his word is true and his mercies are everlasting. Jesus tells us to love those who hate us, and pray for those who despitefully use you. By doing this we know we are the sons of God, because this does not come naturally. His word is a soothing balm to those which were sick and are sick. Selah

Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation? O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come. My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD: and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever. And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me? Be silent, O all flesh, before the LORD: for he is raised up out of his holy habitation. These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me for they are thine. While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition that the scripture might be fulfilled. And all flesh shall see the salvation of God. And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

When you have a word from God and you are doing that word and your getting persecuted for what you are doing : You are being persecuted for righteousness sake !! You are Blessed !!! You are Blessed from God : For the kingdom of heaven is yours.
  • Blessings mlowoka on Matthew 5 - 9 years ago
It not simple to accept being persecuted for the sake of righteousness but it need sacrifices

I had a big fight with my best friend and the Lord used Matthew 5:44 to speak to me about praying for him. I felt used and it really showed me his need, and mine, to pray for him. I hope one day we will no longer be enemies, but that he can be restored to my life. It's been 3 and half years and I have gotten right with the Lord. Just hoping the Lord will save him.

Whatever Bind on this earth will be Bound into heaven. God blessed the couple and bind them into one body. It is a sacrament to get married in the church in the house of God. To have a Husband and a wife you are a couple until rapture. If we have Jesus in our life we have everything we need. We need to be born again in spirit not in the flesh if the flesh is weak this is where a devil can use you
  • Vincent Flannery on Matthew 5 - 9 years ago
God has blessed us so much in just our faith alone. So we must take what He has given us and share with others. In order to do this, we must keep His Light in us by rejecting sin. What a special job!

  • Cybrat on Matthew 5 - 9 years ago
To Devlin if your still reading this, yes it does state in the bible that Jesus is God. Please read, John 1:1 in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. I don't know you, your age, earthly age or Christian age. You made baby Christian for a season one. I won't make an assumption. I was a Christian for many years before I realized "Word" is capitalized! Word is Christ!!! Just replace "Word" with"Christ". I think bc not only was Christ sent here to die for our sins but, also to be the earthly voice of God. If we were to hear the voice of God I believe it would be to much for a human to handle.
  • Rose Lohman on Matthew 12 - 9 years ago
WHAT IS SIN BUT THE TRANSGRESSION OF THE LAW?
Yeshua even said this Matthew 5:19,
"Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven."
Do you think he said in vain, "If you love me, keep MY commandments?

Response to Latisha: This psalm is talking about being falsely accused by an enemy and how this person responded. They prayed that the Lord would prove that their claims would be false and that they would see him as a servant of the Lord. Ultimately, he prays for them to give praise and glory to God (salvation, perhaps). A good psalm to support Matthew 5:42-44. Hope this helps.
