We are to be baptized in The Name of Yahushua, but I wonder who baptized John the Baptist and when John baptized others, whose name did he use --as he didn't know Yahushua or His name; only that Someone was to come after him. And what name did John use to baptize Yahushua? Seems to me that John didn't use any name, only that the person repented of their sins and asked for forgiveness and they were put under the water to wash their sins away.

    @OCK

These are those who were "SENT" to preach the gospel, "How beautiful are the feet of "THEM" that PREACH the GOSPEL of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!" ( Romans 10:15). Jesus Christ was SENT because HE preached the gospel ( Mark 1:15). Apostles and Disciples were SENT because they were ordained by our Lord Jesus Christ to preach the gospel to "EVERY CREATURE" ( Mark 16:15). Before I Lord Jesus Christ were taken up to heaven HE ordained "ALL NATIONS" to OBSERVE ALL THINGS HE COMMANDED ( Matthew 28:19-20). THEREFORE, The "SPIRIT OF THE LORD" SENT JESUS CHRIST TO PREACH THE GOSPEL ( Luke 4:18) and then JESUS CHRIST SENT APOSTLES AND DISCIPLES, AND ALL NATIONS TO PREACH THE GOSPEL. SO, If you heard the gospel from WHOEVER that BAPTIZED you in the NAME of the FATHER, AND OF THE SON, AND OF THE HOLY GHOST, then you MUST OBSERVE ALL THINGS whatsoever Jesus commanded, and that INCLUDES preaching the gospel to EVERY CREATURE in ALL NATIONS. Then, you are SENT.

Some people said the name have to be mention not the title but in my church,if the pastors declare that"We baptize you in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit".The people will respond by saying "Amen".Since `Amen' is mentioned, the name had already been mentioned( REV 3:14).The name of Jesus is many.He is the everlasting Father, almighty God,Amen( Rev 3:14).To baptize in the name of the Father, the Son,the Holy Spirit is not wrong. Some people says it is a title,Do we have any Holy Spirit as a title in heaven and earth except that of Jesus Christ. We only have evil spirit which is not of God,so it is already a name and also a title.
  • Bro.Anil Patra on Acts 2 - 11 years ago
The holy bible is clear and opened for all human but to understand the verse we should have the holy spirit because the bible was written by the God's people filled with the holy spirit, if we would try to understand the bible as human will be wrong so we should pray to God to understand, the bible says we can't add and subtract one word to the bible, (So it is very clear to understand Jesus said Matthew 28:19 to the apostles before he was crucified. Literally in Acts 2:38 the apostles were filled with the Holy Spirit and then Peter stand before said unto them repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. Same baptism was said by Paul also. Jesus said if you love me then obey my word. Such people cannot obey the word because they are not anointed apostles.
  • C Edwards on Numbers 23:19 - 11 years ago
John 1 says, In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life and the life was the light of men. John 1:14 continues in saying "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
Listen, all that worship Jesus must worship him in spirit and in truth. If God says it, it's done.
And for Allah's comment concerning, where is the Trinity, read Matthew 28:19, Trinity means 3, Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. The word "Bible" doesn't appear in the Bible either, but the Word of God(the Bible)is the number one best seller in the world. Study to show thyself approved and may God bless you all!

I hate the blinds of sin. Repent ye drunkards for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Call them out of their caves.

Lord Jesus. Our helper. Help us to repent. Thank you LORD JESUS! Speak in clear boldness of his love. Peace be with you, Jesus be with you on your walk with him. Trust his Holy Spirit for it is light in the darkness. Thank you lord. Your will be done tonight, tomorrow, and in the last days to come. Praise The Lord
Love and peace be with you in Jesus name,

Let us FOLLOW the COMMANDMENT of our Lord Jesus Christ saying, "But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth" (1-Timothy 3:15). "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen" ( Matthew 28:19-20). MEANING: If the apostles taught us saying, "Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church" (1-Corinthians 14:34-35), THEN we must OBEY it WITHOUT QUESTIONING.
  • __Rosalina_Sayson_Ko_Tapay__ on John 5 - 11 years ago
This is my comment on JOHN 5:37-38 saying, "And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape. And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not". THEREFORE, if you will not believe what JESUS said, "baptizing them in the name of the FATHER and of the SON and of the HOLY GHOST" ( Matthew 28:19). THEN, "you have not God's word abiding in you". So for you to have God's word abiding in you, you MUST be baptized in the name of the FATHER and of the SON and of the HOLY GHOST and "not" in the name of the SON "alone". We have to follow Our Lord Jesus Christ commandment saying, "OBSERVE ALL THINGS WHATSOEVER I HAVE COMMANDED YOU" ( Matthew 28:20). He did not say, PICKUP ONLY ONE OR TWO from what I commanded you.
  • Rosalinasaysonkotapay on John 5 - 11 years ago
To: Mark Hudson: ...to the FIRST argument it is NOT true that some will be saved BY His Name "alone" (JESUS)... ...Jesus Christ himself said that he who believed the gospel and is baptised shall be SAVED ( Mark 16:15-16) and it is the baptism in the NAME of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost ( Matthew 28:19)... ...therefore to say that we shall be saved by the name (JESUS) "alone" is contrary to what was written in the bible.

(This is my response to Lurline's comment dated 9/15/2013 at 5:20pm on Chapter 15 about verse 4):

God is a JUST GOD. He will NOT let it happen that His words shall NOT make known unto ONE flesh before the end come...In the last days, God shall pour out His Spirit upon ALL flesh ( Acts 2:17)...To pour out His Spirit means to make known His words ( Proverbs 1:23)...This shall be done after the gospel shall be preached to ever creature ( Mark 16:15-16) in all nations ( Matthew 28:9-20)...in all the world, and then shall the end come ( Matthew 24:14).
  • Rosalinasaysonkotapay on Romans 10 - 11 years ago
To Ock:...that is a very BRILLIANT question... The AUTHORITY to SENT someone to PREACH the GOSPEL is in this wise:...from "GOD" who sent Jesus Christ ( John 17:8) with the "Spirit of the Lord" who anointed him to PREACH the GOSPEL to the poor( Luke 4:18-21)...THEN...from "our Lord Jesus Christ" who sent his disciples to PREACH the GOSPEL to "every creature" ( Mark 16:15)...THEN...from "apostles" who were commanded by our Lord Jesus Christ to teach "all nations" to observe ALL THINGS whatsoever he (Jesus) have commanded them (apostles) ( Matthew 28:19-20)...THEN...if YOU "heard the PREACHING of the GOSPEL" from "ANY CREATURE in ANY NATION" and "you believed it" and "you were baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost"...THEN...YOU are also being SENT to PREACH the GOSPEL...and has the authority to SENT those "who believed and were baptized" to PREACH the GOSPEL to every creature in all nations...and that is Romans 10:15 all about...
  • Rosalinasaysonkotapay on 1 Thessalonians 1 - 11 years ago
Disciples of God believed that GRACE and PEACE are from GOD OUR FATHER and the LORD JESUS CHRIST(1-Thessalonians 1:1)...NOT from Jesus Christ ONLY...Since the ELECTION OF GOD is by the GOSPEL which the disciples preached ( Mark 16:15-16)and it came to us in WORD, in POWER, in HOLY GHOST (1-Thessalonians 1:4-5)...which we received after BAPTISM in the NAME of the FATHER, and of the SON (WORD - John 1:1,14), and of the HOLY GHOST ( Matthew 28:19-20) and these three are one (1- John 5:7) which is the mystery of godliness (1-Timothy 3:16) in the HOUSE OF THE GOD, the CHURCH OF THE LIVING GOD, the PILLAR AND GROUND OF THE TRUTH(1-Timothy 3:15)
  • Gaul on Hebrews 1:6 - 11 years ago
I think this is referring to Psalms 2:7 and is speaking of the glorification of Jesus (ref. Matthew 28:18) where all power in heaven and earth is given unto Jesus after His resurrection and glorification. In Luke chapter two the angels are praising God and they are not worshiping the newborn Son of man. They prophetically describe him as "Christ the Lord" but the angels do not worship the Son of man. Paul also connects Psalms 2:7 with the resurrection ( Acts 13:33) and not with the Bethlehemic birth.

  • Hrmsy on Matthew 28 - 11 years ago
the MT 28 admonition begs the question "what did they do", what they did brings the question "men and brethren what shall we do", answering all speculation about "how" to do with allowing the power of God the Father's Spirit that came through the Word His Son to be accomplished by His disciples, us, so go before it is too late.
  • Dawne Amber on Matthew 28:1 - 11 years ago
I love the entire Gospel of Matthew. It shows the side of Jesus I LOVE the most.
I totally agree with Anonymous' comment. After becoming an adult and reading the Bible for myself, I was so excited after contemplating and rationalizing with myself I discovered that we were eternal souls that didn't die. I told a few family members about it; saying that they should be happy because we were all God's people. Even though they said they "knew" that the soul lives on, it was almost as if I was "blaspheming" Jesus. It just pains me that people walk around saying they already know the Truth, when they have conflicting beliefs!!!!
It has been said many times throughout the Bible, particularly by Isaiah and Jesus, that the wise man LISTENED and UNDERSTOOD his teachings. I've said it so many times myself. I don't talk for my health, so you're not sparing my feelings by just letting me go on talking while you're ignoring me.
  • Mark on Matthew 28 - 11 years ago
The authority that Jesus has was given to him by his father, GOD. That doesn't make Jesus God, There is only One God not two.

There is a hierarchy of authority

    1Corinth 11, 3
But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

GOD, Jesus's father has the highest authority over all. EVEN CHRIST.

  • Lance Mahan on Acts 2 - 11 years ago
Isaiah 9:6 tells us who Jesus really is. He is the Son, Father and God. Jesus is the name you should be baptized in.( Acts 2:38,19:5,10:48,8:37-38)( 2 Cor 3:1) Out of the mouths of two or three shall the word of God be established. Many times did the scriptures say Jesus name baptism but only once did it sayin the name of Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost( Matthew 28:19) If you put them all together you get the name and that is Jesus. ( Luke 24:47) tells where and what name should remissions of sins and repentence should be preached. Matt, Mark, Luke and John are the books that tell of Jesus's birth, life ,death and resurrection and the resurrection begins in the book of acts and is the beginning of the Church. Jesus gave Peter the authority to speak on the day of pentecost in St John(21:15-17)( Acts 1:2) as well as the first chapter of Acts, whom Jesus chose the apostles.
People try to say well who told the apostles to go and baptize in Matthew 28:19? Jesus of course, I agree but who stopped Saul/Paul on the way to Damascus? The same Jesus? YES! Paul baptized in what way and name? Jesus.( Acts 19:5) No other name( Acts 4:12) as well as One Lord, One Faith and one Baptism ( eph 4:5) People will jump over the book of Acts because of what ever reason. Acts opens up the name. If you don't believe me see what is done in Jesus name in the book of Acts. Do a study but before you do it pray to Jesus and ask for wisdom.

    Jesus Bless

    WHERE DID JESUS COME FROM

    John 8, 42
Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.

John 1,1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

God was always able to speak, Genesis 1,1-26 shows God spoke in the beginning when he created the heaven and the earth. And shows the authority and power of God speaking

John 1,14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

    John 16, 27-28
27, For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.
28, I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again,I leave the world, and go to the Father.

The word came out from GOD ( john 16, 27),
The word came forth from the FATHER ( john 16, 28)
And the word was made flesh and come into the world ( john 1, 14),

God became a father when his word was made flesh ( john 16,27 he is God, John 16,28 he is a father),

Jesus the only begotten son of God was born from the word of God through Mary,

The WORD of God was made flesh and dwelt among us ( John 1,14),
  • Mark on Matthew 28 - 11 years ago
    John 8,42

Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.

Another scripture that shows God is not Jesus and Jesus is not God,
  • Mark on Matthew 28 - 11 years ago
    The truth is,

There is God the Father, Jesus the son which testifies of the father, the Holy Ghost which testifies of the son,
  • Mark on Matthew 28 - 11 years ago
    Mathew 28,18-19

It was Jesus himself that spoke and gave the instructions to baptize in the name of the father, and of the son, and of the Holy ghost,
I dare not call Jesus a liar and say it is not so,

All throughout the scriptures, Jesus never testifies of himself, he always testified of the father,

    Jesus himself is speaking in

    John 5,30

I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

    John 5,31

If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.

To say that God is Jesus and Jesus is God is against scripture according to John 5,31 and now the Holy Ghost is being called Jesus,

In the name of Jesus does NOT mean in the "family" of Jesus,

In Acts 3,16 Peter the Apostle clearly states that, his name through faith in his name,

He also states that it was the crippled mans own individual faith by which he was healed,

Not by Peter's power or holiness or of those with him, Acts 3,12
  • Mark on Acts 10 - 12 years ago
    Matthew 28:19
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
