The writers of the New Testament accepted without question the deity of Jesus Christ, and they never speculated about a plurality of persons in God. All speculation occurred in the post biblical era, relying on formulas and words not in scripture. Obfuscation (to obscure something, make it 'fuzzy', confusing) usually results from human attempts to go beyond what scripture has proclaimed. cont.

Satan has blinded the world to the truth of the Bible. What we aught to do is ask ourselves how. Most people in the West have faith in the theory of Evolution and so don't believe Genesis as historical fact. Because they don't believe Genesis they doubt the veracity of the rest of the Bible. See what Creationists have to say. It will encourage you in evangelism.

In the last two verses of Matthew 28 Jesus is telling his disciples to go throughout world and tell them about Jesus dying on the cross. We as Christians of the 21st century need to do the same thing Jesus told His disciples to do, we are losing too many Christians today because we don't go and tell the GOOD NEWS. We need to step up our game and do what Jesus told us to do.THANK GOD I'M SAVED
  • Mari on Matthew 28 - 9 years ago
I was baptized in Jesus name. Acts 2:38. Also Matthew 28:19 it says in the name of the father....(his name is Jesus)
  • Irene123 on Matthew 28 - 9 years ago
To TKN95 - Bruce confused my answer to you. We know the Disciples/apostles began witnessing right away - in Jerusalem and nearby towns, but to get them to go into the then known world - Asia, Turkey, etc. God had the Romans start persecuting them so they'd leave Jerusalem.
  • Bruce on Matthew 28 - 9 years ago
Tkn95,Irene: disciples went out preaching the word of God instantly after they were baptized! Jesus told them to wait until they are baptized Acts1:4-5.
Irene: they didn't know it was Jesus. Mary thought he was the gardener. Acts20:15.

You right Jesus is God. 1Tim 3:16; Isa 9:6; John 1:1; 1:14; John14:7-9 Father is a title, son,a title, Holy ghost a title. Look at the word name if it was three it would of said names. Also Acts 4:12; We read all in Acts about baptism in the Lord Jesus. Ephesians 4:5 One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism. 1John 5:8; Deut6:4; 1John5:20 God will open up your understanding to the scripture if you will allow

The Holy Spirit is Jesus. In Matthew 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus said in the NAME. These 3 TITLES have a NAME. Lets look at the scriptures for the NAME. In John 5:23 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.
  • Irene123 on Matthew 28 - 9 years ago
To TKN95 on Matt. 28:19 - Here are 2 answers - they DID baptize in the NAME ( Acts 2:38); they DID go into all the world, albeit a little slowly ( Acts 11:19). But even today, as Christians, we are sometimes 'slow' to respond if it seems scary or what ever the case may be. But HE knows how to get His work done, i.e, persecution, and etc.

Why did the disciples not do as Christ said in vs 19?
  • Irene123 on Matthew 28 - 9 years ago
I just now noticed this (as many times as I have read it!!); they believed Jesus as soon as they saw Him. The disciples didn't until Jesus broke bread with them. Not always, but as a rule women will accept the truth before their men will - be they husbands, brothers, what have you. Women are more 'tender', as a general rule. I know some say more gullible, but - that's God's doing.

  • Irene123 on Matthew 28 - 9 years ago
Matt. 28:18 - Proves Jesus is God; Jesus is God's name; "ALL power is given to me"; Deut. 4:39; 6:4; Isa. 42:8; 43:11; 44:6, v. 8; Eph. 4:5; Philip. 2:9-10; ALL power; God does not know another savior beside Him.
  • BSP on Matthew 28 - 9 years ago
This verse shows that Jesus was given power and is only second to God in his power.

Jesus is keeping his promised to us that HE WILL GO TO OUR FATHER AND WILL PREPARE A MANSION FOR US. HE WILL NEVER LEAVE US OR FORSAKE US. OUR JOB NOW IS TO TRUST JESUS AND OBEY HIS WORDS. OUR OBEDIENCE TO HIS WORDS IS THE KEY TO OUR SALVATION. LETS GIVE THANKS TO THE BLOOD OF JESUS AND PRAISE HIM AND WORSHIP HIM. WE NEED TO LIVE AND FOLLOW LIKE JESUS THAT'S ALL HE NEED. AMEN

All power, absolute power has been given to Jesus. My Lord, use your power to secure me totally in YOU forever. Let my family, friends, and all that love you be saved by this Power. Let us all be delivered and set free totally from this world by this power. And at the end, count us worthy to be with you. Amen.

    On Jedidiah's comment on Acts 2:38 2/18/2016:
Before Jesus ascension back to His Father, He gave the disciples/apostles the great commission or commandment: Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. Matthew 28: 19, 20 (This is first hand information)
  • Daniel on Genesis 1 - 9 years ago
We have a Triune God a Holy Trinity, Jesus said in Matthew 28:19 go ye therefore and teach All Nations baptizing in the name of the Father and of the Son
  • BSP on Matthew 28 - 9 years ago
Verse 20 encourages us to not only teach Bible knowledge, but also to teach people to apply it by observing the things written in the Bible.

it means that God promise never to leave us alone. that he will be with us all the way until the end of the earth. He wants us to know that he was given all power and authority in the all earth by his heavenly farther.

Jesus told his disciples to go into the world to preach the gospel .And to go to all four corners of the world to preach the gospel . And to tell them that receive him that he will be with us always unto the end.And for us his children not to be afraid. And go ye therefore and babtising them in the name of the father, son, and the holy spirit.

Alway is the right word. It means all the way, while always means something else , not meaning what Jesus meant. So this is way alway was used. he would be with us by his Spirit, all the way til the end.

There is no place in the bible that said infant and babies when talking about baptizing. Throughout the bible it said the person being baptized must except Christ in their lives. A baby can't do that. After they are baptized they must live a godly life. Their decision, no one else can decide for them. Please check it out. God bless
  • Jeannie on Matthew 28 - 10 years ago
Baptizing in the name is a commandment Matt. 28:19,20 Acts 10:48 . Mimicking what someone commands is not the same as obeying what is commanded. Jesus commanded His Apostles to baptize in THE one name and they obeyed Acts 8:12,16 10:47,48 19:5 2:38,39 . Only one name has authority to save us Acts 4:11,12 John 20:31 1 Pet. 3:21 Acts 10:43 Eph. 4:5 Mark 16:16 . There was always opposition against the use of the name Acts 4:17,18 5:28,29,39-42 .

It was THE WRITER of the Book of Acts who told us what Peter said in Acts 2:38,39. And it was THE WRITER of the Book of Matthew who told us that Jesus spoke the words in Matthew 28:19,20. Both men wrote under inspiration of God. These scriptures do not contradict. Both agree with Acts 4:11,12. There are no contradictions in scripture. If you think you know one pray for understanding.
