  • Paul the Apostles Life and Ministry - In Reply on Matthew 17 - 4 years ago
Paul was a new Christian. Radically saved. He was a Roman, but began life as a Jew. He ascended to rank as a Pharisee.

He was highly educated. He gave the order for Stephen the Evangelist to be stoned to death. Book of Acts. You can find more information reading that passage.

Paul left there on his way to chase down more Christians. Jesus appeared to him on the Damascus Road. You should read of that also.

After Paul got his eyesight back, he was liquid excitement to begin evangelizing. This was disturbing to the disciples in Jerusalem.

Gods purpose for Paul was to EVANGELIZE THE VERY PEOPLE HE HAD BEEN ORDERING TO BE EXECUTED. He would be sent to the Gentiles!

It was necessary that Paul be alone with the Lord, by way if the indwelling Holy Spirit to be taught.

However, since there was not a Bible for him to learn from; seclusion was priority. He was taught by THE WORD OF GOD. The same as in John 1:1

It took 3 years. His enthusiasm did not wane. Look at the maps of Paul's Ministry over the region. It was on foot, by boat, horses and donkeys. He was beat up, imprisioned often, stoned, bit by a viper, chased, Acts is an exciting book to read. He was a man of small stature but his presence was huge like King David. He wrote much of the New Testament. He made tents to fund the ministry.

Important point iswe all need to spend scheduled time alone with the Holy Spirit. He is our Teacher. We too are SENT TO THE WORLD. Go ye into your world first. Evangelize large or one on one. Pray to the Lord of the Harvest. God sets up divine appointments as He wills.

To be a part of that is beyond JOY.

    Mishael

I hope Chris will reply to your question as well. I'm short on time here but Chris is long on history and depth of the journey I am sure.

Why did the Holy Spirit stop Paul from going east when he was about to depart and forbid him from taking the message of Christ to them as he was doing elsewhere. As Jesus wanted His words taken to every human being,,this begs my question.

    Matthew 17:21

Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

    Mark 9:29

And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.

Like your friend I was spiritually blind and deaf. I only remembered wondering why Christians never invited me to go to church with them.

I was saved like Paul. I had been an astrologer. I believed the stars would tell me all the answers. All I knew after I was saved, is Someone was telling me how to be free. Acts 19:19.

Your friend may not be able to hear the Truth: John 3. You may have to put on your armor and pray and fast from food and media. BIND up the spirits of blind, deaf and dumb (can't speak Gods Word). CAST them into outer darkness. Pray to the Lord of the Harvest to send laborers to your friend; ask God to protect him with His angels.

The Devil just wants to hurt you; make you feel inadequate to help your friend. He doesn't want us to feel equipped to evangelize. He likes us paralyzed and doubting.

Dig in. Announce your fast. You can drink water.

Satan and his workers are invisible. You're not going to see them. You will be peeling their hands off of your friend. Claim his soul for the Kingdom of God. If you gotta go sit in your car to "turn up the volume", do it. Jesus defeated Satan when he was on his fast...WITH THE WORD OF GOD. Scriptures. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you some good ones.

Be kind to your friend. Maybe ask him if he minds if you can say a few words...and just speak blessings, a good week at work, favor in all his dealings, etc.

Don't reveal your warfare on his behalf. The Lord is our Intercessor and He's working out the details. Just stand on your scriptures with your most holy Faith. Expect a Miracle. Sing unto the Lord. Philippians 4:8

"Then He touched their eyes saying, According to your faith be it unto you." Jesus had just healed two blind men following him, crying for mercy from the Son of David. He asked them if they believed He was able, whereupon He said the famous verse above, Matthew 9:29.

Faith is key to receiving Jesus' gifts when walking with Him in the Spirit daily, simply by: doing your morning verse and prayer, then practicing goodness with the first two commandments through the day with prayer when you need strength or forgiveness, carrying zero guilt, having no wants, carrying the Shield of Faith at all times after rising in the morning because you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.

Faith is key, "For we walk by Faith (in things eternal knowing we are saved), not by sight (the things we see here, the evil, and death). 2Cor5:7.

Getting Faith, or growing it daily is key. It's easy. Jesus and the apostles made it so easy for us with the Gospels. None of the early Christians had the benefit of the Word, though meeting Jesus in person would have been the bomb.

HERE IT IS: "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God." Your morning verse and prayer alone will grow your faith. Practice walking in the Spirit all day, in faith, in prayer, loving a Creator we live and move and have our being in - that gave His only Son, Jesus, to be the sacrifice for us all, and He was perfect without blemish. We all here have committed sins against the Spirit in our monkey bodies sharing 99 and 84% DNA with chimps and dogs, resp.

So faith comes by hearing the Word of God, and I add reading it will suffice as well. The Word or Bible will grow you as you walk and your strength of faith will grow as well. He has shown the way - our Lord Jesus to get home to Heaven - John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no one cometh to the Father but by Me." And today's VOTD Matthew 17:20 is very special...faith!

    John 1:1

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

    John 1:3

"All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made."

God made his son Jesus Christ.

    Matthew 17:5

"While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him."

This is my Son -hear ye Him.

    2 Peter 1:17

"For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."

Jesus Christ was made by God and God was pleased with his son.

    John 14:13

"And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son."

Jesus Christ is the WORD and the Word is God.

Jesus and his Father God are One.

Do not believe this claim of a rapture before the resurrection. "Millions will be Left Behind after Jesus removes His Church from the Earth."

This is a massive lie. Jesus seals His church to survive the terrors of that day.

What did Jesus say about the great tribulation? Matthew 17:34-37 Jesus says the "taken" are dead, not raptured.

Divine intervention occurs at the end, not before. The second coming of Christ happens after the great tribulation, when times up.
  • Chris - In Reply on Jude 1 - 5 years ago
Hi Marie. The essence of Jude verse 9 is that Michael, the Archangel, dared not bring a railing accusation against the devil. We know this because of Jude's earlier warnings of wicked men (verse 4) who crept into the Church, teaching wrong doctrine & turning God's Grace into lasciviousness (unrestrained sexual behaviour). And these same 'filthy dreamers' (v 8) despise dominion & speak evil of dignities. And so Jude gives the example of Michael who dared not rail accusations against the Devil, though he had every right to do so, rather said "The Lord rebuke thee".

So that's all we know from this Book: Jude's warning to the readers of his epistle to be aware of such wickedness entering the Church. Re the occasion of the body of Moses, we know nothing about this event: what was the problem here, what was the accusation or what was reason for even bringing it up? Was it to do with the fact that God (by His angel?) buried Moses rather than being done by man ( Deuteronomy 34:1-8), or maybe Moses wasn't buried at all since his grave is unknown, or some other reason that the Devil brought up? So from this verse, we can't assume that the Devil was wanting Moses' body - we are not told what the contention (argument) was about.

If we believe what the Scripture says about Moses' body, then he was buried but he was still in spirit form when he appeared, along with Elijah, at Jesus' transfiguration ( Matthew 17:1-4). It could well be that his body was in the grave awaiting the resurrection, just as Abraham was in Luke 16:19-31. And in like manner, those who have now died believing in Christ Jesus, their spirits have been released to return to God, but their remains on the Earth will be reconstructed to rise in the resurrection, being given glorified bodies ( 1 John 3:2).

Wow. You shall be in my prayers. You just stated the Father, the Son(Jesus Christ), and the Holy Ghost are confused? It is clear you do not believe the Scriptures and have your own carnal idea of God. Matthew 12:32, Matthew 12:36.

Also you do not believe, or understand, the words of Christ like John 10:30?

You know God says listen to His Son right? Matthew 17:5. Even further like the Angel of the LORD in the OT. Exodus 23:20-22.

Also to glorify the Son is to glorify the Father. As they are ONE. John 14:13-14. The only way to eternal life is through the Son of God. John 14:6. 1 John 5:11-13.

God is ONE. I pray the Lord leads you to leave your own beliefs behind and trust Him and His Word.

You seem to believe in the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Though you seem to doubt who the Lord is just like the Pharisees did. Bringing Him down to "just a man". Matthew 5:20.

    God Bless.
  • Richard in Christ - In Reply on John 2 - 5 years ago
    Hi Bob,

Obviously you took my post incorrectly. I'll try using Scriptures again.

I never said Christ and the Father was not a relationship. You brought this up. I never said Christ is the Father or the Father is Christ as it seems you took it. I know it's a Father Son relationship. Again John 10:30, John 14:11, John 17:21. Revelation 3:21. For a couple.

Some say the Father being in Christ means He left Heaven. God spoke from Heaven several times proving that false. Matthew 3:17, Matthew 17:5, John 12:28.

Here are a couple stating the Spirit of Truth or Holy Ghost as He/Him: John 14:17, John 14:26. Putting the three in ONE as in 1 John 5:7.

As I've been trying to answer your questions though you seemed to have veered from mine. No one knows the depths and ways of God. He can do anything He wants. Isaiah 40:28, Isaiah 55:8-9. Just like giving all His power and authority to His Son so we honor Him just as we honor the Father. Matthew 28:18, John 5:22-23. Not knowing your beliefs on this but no one can say Christ did not exist before He was born here. Christ Himself stated this and there are other Scriptures that back this up also. John 17:4-5. All I do is use the Scriptures. I have no private interpretation as that is not what the Scriptures are for. 2 Peter 1:20.

Nothing is falling apart for me. I've given you many Scriptural verses as I have not seen one from you. Also I really don't even know your motive for making the first post the other night. The reason I made the reply is because you said something about a "man made trinity doctrine". Which I showed you is not man made it's Biblical.

Still not getting into how many titles the Father and Son share. Not knowing if it would make any difference to you.

I'm not here to argue and don't take my post that way please. You may have your own view.

Again as I hope I've answered your questions. I'll just leave the one again.

Do you believe the Scriptures I've posted?

    Thank you. God Bless.

As no one person is exactly the same as another. Just as well there is many different beliefs to interpreting the Scriptures. Which is said to have no private interpretation. ( 2 Peter 1:20-21.

As this has been discussed before I will put my portion. I do not say Jesus Christ is God the Father. He is the only begotten Son of God. Though He was more than just a "sinless" man. He was part man part God. Born of a virgin who was conceived by the Holy Ghost ( Matthew 1:20, Luke 1:30-35. Even at age twelve He astonished people who heard Him. He knew God was His Father then Luke 2:47-49. To me showing He did not just receive the Holy Ghost(Spirit of God) at His water baptism in the Jordan. If the sign of the Spirit descending from Heaven like a dove was for just a sign for John or for His supernatural powers only God knows. John 1:32-34.

If some think that believing Jesus Christ is more that just a man is taking something away from the Father. God wants us to honor His Son as He is the only way to the Father. Scriptures pointing to Him being more than "just" a man John 3:12-13, John 3:33-35, John 3:38, John 8:54-58, John 17:3-5, Colossians 1:12-20, Hebrews 1:1-4.

Also titles Jesus Christ, the Son of God, uses like Alpha and Omega(first and last) in the beginning of Revelation. The Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, being King of kings and Lord of Lords Revelation 17:14. Also the Word of God and King of kings and Lord of lords given to the man riding the white horse out of Heaven. I believe is Jesus Christ.

Besides all of the miracles He performed. Him being transfigured on the mountain Matthew 17:2.

There is one True Holy Living Almighty God. Saying the Father, Word, and Holy Ghost are one. Also as how many verses I have that state the Spirit of Christ, the Spirit of God, and the Holy Ghost are in us after being saved. To me showing Jesus Christ is the Word of God and one with God and the Holy Ghost.

Praise be to our Lord Jesus Christ and our Father in Heaven.

    Luke 18:33

    Matthew 20:19

    Matthew 17:23

    Luke 24:46

    Luke 24:21

This is only a few of the instances. Is someone doubting that Jesus was risen on the third day or something? The Bible says it all over the place, so if someone is trying to claim otherwise, they have a whole mountain of scripture against them.
  • Chris - In Reply on Luke 9:21 - 5 years ago
In common understanding of the word, it means 'to express a sharp, stern disapproval; to reprove or reprimand'.

The word doesn't appear in Luke 9:21, so I'll give some other Scriptures that show various uses of the word:

    a. Matthew 8:26: Jesus gave out a clear command to the elements.

    b. Matthew 17:18: Jesus issued a Divine authoritative Command against the Devil.

    c. Luke 9:55: Jesus was stern & gave a strong correction to the disciples' ignorance & presumption.

    d. Mark 8:33: Jesus scolded Peter (at least the spirit working in & through him), for challenging the mission that Jesus was on. Peter had (in verse 32) rebuked (challenged) Jesus on that point.

So these few examples might show you how the word 'rebuke' was being used during Jesus' Ministry.
  • Chris - In Reply on Psalms 51 - 5 years ago
I will state at the outset Melvin, that I've never fasted & prayed: I've never sensed the need to do so, though I do understand Jesus Own Words in this regard ( Matthew 17:21) & others in the Bible who have fasted & prayed ( Luke 2:37, Acts 14:23). There is no reason to not fast & pray, but when we consider these examples, it seems clear that fasting (coupled with prayer), is an act to make one more conscious & focused on the important/urgent matter in our hearts or in the spiritual work we might be called to do, that engages with the spirit world.

The opposite is also true: if you have a big lunch & its a lovely warm day, it doesn't take much for the body to relax & slowly drift away into sleep (for me at least). But when the body is denied food & coupled with a determination to bring our matters before the Lord, then our spirits are more centred on this & stray thoughts & need for sleep are kept at bay. As well, I would think that the Lord also sees the earnestness of our hearts about our matters before Him & we in a sense 'wrestle with the Lord' in prayer as Jacob did physically with God's Angel, saying, "I will not let thee go, except thou bless me." ( Genesis 32:26). And James in James 5:16 says, "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much", which almost implies that if we choose to fast & pray, then this adds 'weight' to our fervent, effectual praying. Does this make our prayers more powerful? If our prayers are then made in full faith not doubting, in full earnestness, in full agreement with the Will of God, then yes, by fasting, both ourselves & God are pressed into 'action': from us, focused fervent prayer; from God, being conscious of our appeal to Him & not letting go until we see His Hand move.

Maybe others here on this Site, who engage in fasting & prayer may be able to help you further in this matter.

The opposite of Faith is unbelief. Unbelief dishonors God and blocks his ability to respond to our prayers and our requests for him to act on our behalf. Here, Jesus is telling his disciples their problem was unbelief and the need for much more prayer and fasting. Obviously, Christ is suggesting to them and us as well that, further prayer and fasting is what removes the unbelief that stagnates and blocks the Lords ability to respond to our requests. A "little" faith is all that the Lord needs to respond to our prayers but "unbelief" that the Lord will actually do what we are requesting thwarts the whole process. This verse tells me that the enemies of Christ are well versed in the spiritual laws and implications of shallow faith and ineffective prayers. They are under the authority of Christ and not the authority of man and will respond accordingly. It also tells me that I need to be ever closer to my heavenly Father in prayer and fasting if I'm to have any chance of waging battle in the spiritual arena.

I just prayed for you, Mr. Grimmette! PLEASE do NOT do ANYTHING to take your life, Sir! GOD CANNOT forgive you, if your last act is murder of YOU! REMEMBER No murderers shall enter into the kingdom of heaven! If you "quit" or do ANYTHING DELIBERATELY to cause your own death (remember, GOD knows our thoughts--even unto the dividing of soul and spirit--He KNOWS your intentions BEFORE you even THINK THEM!) and you die from that--you will die UNDERNEATH the title of a murderer! Murderers shall be amongst those that shall be WITHOUT the kingdom of heaven's gates! MURDERERS shall have their part in the lake of fire! National Geographic wrote about the core of the earth being a sphere molten lava. Our Savior--Jesus--said He'd go into "the belly of the earth" for 3 days and nights JUST to do His Father--GOD's will. Why? So that HE could pay the penalty for us! My heart BREAKS 4 YOU, Mr. G! BUT PLEASE do not CHOOSE to burn in HELL for ETERNITY! Satan is TEMPTING YOU! He and his devils and his children work toward our DESTRUCTION! If you "quit" or "suicide out" then you'll just trade current TEMPORARY hell for PERMANENT HELL, where you'll be weeping and gnashing in darkness 4ever! There will BE NO RELIEF EVER! GOD has SAID NO MURDERER shall enter into HIS KINGDOM! FORMER murderers--like Moses--whose sin was FORGIVEN--YES! We KNOW Moses is in heaven ( Matthew 17:1-13)AND that GOD spake to Moses as a man speaketh to a FRIEND! (Moses was a FORMER murderer B4 GOD spake to Him as friend and had him to lead Israel out via various signs and wonders)! I'm tired too, my FRIEND, I'm poor, and I HATE this world's wicked system--BUT I'm praying for you! GOD CAN make miracles for us! THANKS TO YOU, I just remembered MANY MIRACLES (financial) with GOD--and others. I"m frustrated, and I fear I"m being a partial hypocrite, but YOUR PRAYER request CAUSED me to remember GOD'S miracles in my life and others--REAL UNEXPLAINABLE, supernatural miracles from HIM...for ME and others!

You need to read Revelation 2:4 and realize that you walked away from Jesus. I pray you still carry the joy of when you first believed, in your mind, heart and memories.

What you said sounds like the intrusion of the Jezebel Spirit. She is very wicked and manifestations of her works are sexual, often: rebellion and resistant to any Godly restraints. You must destroy her advances into your life.

Jesus is clearly calling you back to that First Love relationship with him. You need to repent of your deeds and remove the temptations Jezebel uses against you. Ask Jesus to help you. Read Acts 19:19.

Use the Search Box on this website and type in 'Jezebel' to see why God hates her works.

She afflicts women just as much as men.

There are men's ministries, that's all they do is help men get free from this. I think that website is Focus on the Family. I haven't looked at it; I listen to their radio ministry.

This is the result of the effects of the 80's when computers and chat rooms took over the world. How many lives have been destroyed? Marriages too. Children growing up without fathers. The last 2 scriptures of the Old Testament was written to fathers and their children. God is personally overseeing this prophesy; which I believe is still happening. Matthew 17:12

Turn around and come back to your Father God. You know Jesus is calling you.

"We believe and confess that God has ordained power & authority, & set them to punish the evil, & protect the good, to govern the world, & maintain countries & cities, with their subjects, in good order & regulation; & that we, therefore, may not despise, revile or resist the same, but must acknowledge & honor them as the ministers of God, & be subject & obedient unto them, yea, ready for all good works, especially in that which is not contrary to the law, will, and commandment of God; also faithfully pay custom, tribute & taxes, & to render unto them dues, even also as the Son of God taught and practiced, & commanded His disciples to do; that we, moreover, must constantly and earnestly for the prosperity of the country, that we may dwell under its protection, earn our livelihood, & lead a quiet, peaceable life, with all godliness & honesty; &, furthermore, that the Lord would recompense unto them, here, & afterwards in eternity, all benefits, liberty, & favor which we enjoy here under their praiseworthy administration."

  • THE HOLY BLOOD OF JESUS - In Reply on Matthew 17:5 - 5 years ago
Jesus's blood is so Holy that no demon EVER opposed Him during His ministry. They left at a high rate of speed or asked to go into some pigs which promptly ran off the side of a cliff and died.

The subjects here are: spiritual warfare and the Authority of the Believers in Jesus, that are born again, Holy Spirit Baptized and protected through the shed Blood of Jesus.

Gospels show that when Satan tempted Jesus (after he had fasted 40 days), he first tempted Jesus with food.

Jesus countered Satan with the SCRIPTURES.

In the Lords Prayer, one verse says: "deliver us from evil." In Greek I think it translates as: deliver us from the evil.

Jesus has given us every means, including the Armor, in Ephesians 6; to scatter demons off ourselves, and others. Your prayers can be launched from one hemisphere to the other. We all have a personal responsibility to get in scripture and build up our ARSENAL against the Devil.

If you don't know what Authority of the Believer is, then listen to some Charles Capps videos on YouTube.

Be careful what is in your house, or what other house members bring into it. For example: if your teenager has a pentagram on the wall and blares "Tool" music through the walls. That's Satan taking advantage of you through someone you love. You have a right as owner of the home to remove offensive things. Be sweet but Tell the kid they can decorate THEIR apartment when they move out; and use headphones or you'll confiscate their tunes too. They'll be mad a while, but they like eating more. Be strong but be Christ-like when you interact.

Go in there and pray scripture when they go out with their friends. Sing some gospel songs. Ask the Lord to dispatch an angel to keep everything evil out of the house. Evil is invisible, but total chaos from a kid is a sign that a "doorway" is open somewhere. You will know what to do. Hug often.

Pass this info on to other struggling parents!

    Read Acts 19:19. Mishael

John, the possession of humans by evil spirits is very real. Even when looking at examples of this in the Bible, where Jesus dealt with them (e.g. Luke 4:33-36; Mark 9:20-27; Matthew 17:14-18; etc.) we know that this demonic activity was very much evident in those days as it is in ours. As Mishael has warned, that fooling around with occultic practices, even laying open our minds by use of drugs or pursuit of demonic religions, makes one highly susceptible to demonic possession, or oppression.

My personal experience of one such occasion was when sharing in a Bible study in another country. My passage was actually on 1 Peter chapter 3, sharing with families in that respect. So, it was a study not essentially on the Cross or victory over Satan, etc., yet a lady in our midst appeared overcome with heaviness (sadness on her face) & later began to shake a little & then uncontrollably. I thought it weird given the passage of Scripture being looked at, but had later come to realize that when God's powerful Word is opened & read, then the spirits are also troubled. Indeed, "the devils (i.e. demons) believe & tremble" (Js 2:19). That woman wasn't shaking because of an affliction or being moved by my teaching: those which possessed her were agitated at the reading of God's Word. The end of that, was that my indigenous brother took charge & dispatched that evil spirit from out of her. She fell onto the bench she was sitting on & later recovered smiling & joining us in sweet fellowship, being freed from her torment. After some days, we visited her to see how she & her family were doing: and PTL they were all overjoyed in her release & being normal & useful in the home.

I just share the above to give you a personal witness of such things that go on all the time. Evil forces surround us, many succumb in different ways, but to the child of the Living God, he walks on with joy & confidence, knowing that "greater is He that is in us, than he that is in the world (Js 4:4).
