Hello Joni G.: We are not exactly saying the same thing. You deny the speaking in tongues whereas I agree with the word of God. There are examples that prove this to be right. A person after receiving the Holy Ghost does speak in tongues. A person must feel that godly sorrow that pricks in the heart that worketh repentance to salvation. You can be baptized either before the gift is given or after the gift is given either way baptism is part of the salvation plan. It does not stop there. When God knows, he looks at the heart, and then he will give you his gift. I am sorry that you do not speak in other tongues, but this still does not mean that it is not truth.

Since receiving the Holy Ghost at baptism I have grown a lot in Christ. I have learned to pray for my enemies, turn the other cheek. I still make mistakes but ask God to forgive me. The blood of Jesus makes me new every morning and every moment. I am learning to give God the glory for successes in my life. I give Him thanks in all things. The Holy Spirit is with me all the time and helps me. I pray for wisdom and humility for I am nothing without Jesus, my rock, my redeemer. Thanks be to God!

Hello Lola and RNM: If you are talking about verse 28 of this chapter. This is not a mystery verse. This is talking about those who are alive and remain during the rapture they will not see a literal death, because they have already experienced a symbolic death through repentance. If you read verse 27 this will give you the picture of his second coming, which some scholars say is twofold. Having two parts first the rapture where he will hang in the clouds and gather the saints who put on his name by following Acts 2: 38 and the second part is when he comes back to fight and bring peace for 1000 years. In the end, these scriptures deal with the future rapture and saints.

Amen Marvin amen! That is the word RIGHTLY DIVIDED. Baptism is a command and if water baptism saves as they teach 2Tim 4:3 and someone is unborn of God before they are baptized, that means unborn Sons Jn 1:12 are obeying commands which they cannot do Jn 8:47, 2Cor 2:14. Also if you believe that you can lose your salvation after you get water baptized wouldn 't your best bet be to drown in the baptistry? Everywhere you see baptism you are seeing water when there are seven baptisms mentioned in the Bible and they are not all water baptisms. Spirit baptism places you into Christ 1Cor 12:3 and in the Church age you are sealed unto the day of redemption Eph 4:30.

Hello RNM: There are many scriptures. Ephesians 4: 4 thru 6 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all ". Remember the Bible is talking to saved people. These people have followed Acts 2: 38 to become save and have the one faith. This faith is in Jesus Christ by following the Apostles Doctrine. One baptism, which is in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. One Lord who is Jesus Christ, who is God manifested in the flesh. We, who hold onto the faith, have felt the true godly sorrow that pricks a person in their heart which leads to true repentance, 2 Corinthians 7: 9 and 10. This true repentance leads to salvation through which you are filled with the true Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues as the spirit of God gives utterance. AMEN

Hello Chatauna Robinson, comment on 1-o1-2015,2:32 pm... Well I wasn 't sure now you 've made it clear when you said, if a person have not followed Acts 2:38, what Peter declared on the day of Pentecost they are lost. First Mathew 7: 21 is law itself chapters 5 thru 7. Second your first 5 words, I quote, UNDER THIS DISPENSATION OF GRACE that dispensation was only given to the Apostle Paul later. Ephesians Ch. 3: V.2 I quote, If ye have heard of the dispensation of the Grace of God which is given me to you-ward:
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Romans 1 - 11 years ago
Hello John: The word of God is written to the saved, those individuals who have put on the name of Jesus Christ by following Acts 2: 38. Paul is speaking to the Roman church. In verse 17 the word just refers to the saved. If you read verse 16 you will get that understanding. This is not saying that people in general do not have faith. A person can have faith but alone it is dead. A person has to have works to make it alive. Just to believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and not follow Acts 2: 38, a person is still lost. The Bible states in James 2: 17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone . The devils believe and tremble, James 2: 19 Thou believest that there is one God thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. So just believing is not enough. Just to say I believe in my heart and accept God this alone does not save you.

Repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:38 KJV. We know that hearing the gospel is necessary, believing that you have sinned and need a Savior and believing in Jesus as the only way to eternal life, repenting, turning your back on sin, confessing Jesus as your Lord and Savior before immersion under water and finally being immersed into Christ under the water and into his death, raised out of the water to a new life, a new spiritual being in Christ and with the gift of the Holy Spirit to help guide you into all truth. Hallelujah! What a Savior!

A person needs to be baptized like the example in Acts 2:38. Don 't know how much plainer than I can be. We are saying the same thing. That is what the Bible says. Peter didn 't say repent and be baptized and you must speak in tongues when you come out of the water. My King James Bible does not say that. Please look. Repent and be baptized in the name of Christ everyone of you and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:38

Hello Joni G.: In addition to my comment, I hope will come out, in regard to Colossians, this people were saved. They were in Christ. To be in Christ you have to put on his name by following Acts 2: 38. You cannot have just baptism. If a person has not the spirit of Jesus Christ he is none of his, Romans 8:9. Paul recognized the Colossian church as being saved and in Christ, just like him.

Hello Marvin and Joni G.: Under this Dispensation of Grace if a person have not followed Acts 2: 38, what Peter declared on the day of Pentecost they are lost. There is no way around it. There will be a lot of people who will say LORD, LORD but will not enter into the kingdom of God, Matthew 7: 21 "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Part 1 of 2: Hello Joni G.: On the Day of Pentecost it states in Acts 2: 3 4 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance . The word Cloven means divided or split. It was one tongue but split into two parts. On the one side you have a language that when spoken others can understand and know that God is being glorified. For example, I heard a minister say that when the Holy Ghost fell while he was preaching through interpretation to rural Chinese people a woman was filled with the Holy Ghost she spake in English and magnified God. She had never been taught or spoke English in her life.

To the People that stands with Chatanua Robinson, Mark 's Gospel Chapter 16 verses 15 thru 20 that is Christ 's Gospel of the kingdom for Him to be on earth then. It 's even called the Gospel of the Kingdom that 's given to the Apostle Peter and the other eleven the Gospel That ran up to the calling of the Apostle Paul after Christ had risen. Peter and the others was the Gospel of the Kingdom and not the Gospel of Grace given to Paul in 1Cor. Ch.15 Vs. 1 thru 4 that Paul declares of Himself. Back to Mark Ch.16 Vs. 15 thru 20 read verse 16, believeth be baptized and thou shall be saved for Christ 's Gospel to be on earth, the kingdom Gospel truth. But now read verse 17 of these signs, cast out demons, don 't hear too much on this one, speaks with new tongues, oh this is something special, I thought it was supposed to cease. Well what about verse 18 take serpents or drink any deadly thing it shall not hurt them. Why haven 't Chatanua Robinson told you these signs to do too? The signs was for Peter and others to win Jews for Christ kingdom on earth then and the Father would have sent Christ back. Read Acts Ch. 3 Vs. 19 thru 21. Remember the Gospel of Mark ends preceding Acts Ch. 2,38.

Bill, the moment we believed in Jesus Christ and were baptized in Christ 's death, we were added to the church, Acts 2:47.We were also transferred to the kingdom. Read Colossians 1:13. Colossians chapters 1 and 2 are good to read. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

Just looked at Acts 16. Wow! How exciting! The jailer is on duty for the night never dreaming when he went to work, he would hear songs of praise, experience an earthquake, find his prisoners in their cells with unlocked doors, ask how to be saved, then believe and be baptized! What joy he must have felt that night! Now a child of God. Think of the impact he must have had after that. Praise God! The hymns too. I have an eBook of hymns of the first 3 centuries. Words of course . No musical notes. Those were added later!

Jacob, your 1:05pm, 12-31 comment was interesting. That is right about the preachers giving different parts of the salvation plan at different places in the Bible. The Jews had shredded hearts after they heard Peter 's sermon in Acts 2.So, Peter didn 't say believe in Christ first. They believed so then Peter said repent and be baptized in the name of Christ and you will be saved. I almost cry each time I read about Stephen 's sermon and stoning.Jesus stood for him! Amazing! He sits now in glory with everything under His feet. Jesus says believe and be baptized and you shall be saved in Mark 16:15-16. He doesn 't say repent there but of course we must. No following the world and Christ. Thanks for your insight. It is appreciated.

The evidence of the Holy Spirit in your life will be seen in your obedience to Christ! Do you grow daily in Christ? Do you lead others to Christ? Are you a selfless person? Do you lose your life in Christ? Not speaking in tongues. That gift died out in the first century. It is sad to see the lost right under our noses while we talk on and on about something no longer needed. The world longs to see Jesus in us. They want to understand and believe. We need to be leading others to Christ not talking about something no longer needed. Satan wants us to argue. Jesus wants us all to believe and teach the same thing so the world believes in Christ. Read John 17.

People are filled with the Holy Spirit when the have obeyed Christ according to Acts 2:38. They then walk with the Lord daily. I walk by the Spirit, reject the flesh. I reject the world. I embrace Christianity. I daily study the Holy Word and walk with Christ. I am Jesus daughter Chauntana. I do not talk in Spanish, French or other languages but the Holy Spirit speaks to God for me when I don 't pray for everything I should. I let go of the world years ago.

To all you people that believe that Acts Chapter 2 Verse 38 is the plan of Salvation for the Church, what about Charles Spurgeon, D.L. Moody, Oliver Green, Ed Young Jr., John R. Rice, Adrian Rogers And James Kennedy? From James Kennedy back to Oliver Green by which he led me to the Lord Put no emphasis on Acts 2,38 for Salvation, how about all these converts, are they all going to Hell?
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Acts 2 - 11 years ago
Hello Jacob: Yes, in Acts 2: 37 they did ask what they shall do. Then Peter told them in Acts 2: 38. Then in Acts 2: 39 he stated, summing it up, that it was for the Jews, their children, and to the rest of us. We deduce that Acts 2: 38 is the salvation plan, because in Acts 2: 40 Peter stated And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from the untoward generation . Then about thousand souls were added to the church. Then as a witness to this being for everyone in Acts 10 were the first Gentiles. Then to validate further Paul then rebaptized those 12 men in Acts 19: 1 thru 7. Paul stated FORBID not the speaking in tongues is correct in 1 Corinthians 14: 39.

Part 2. Acts 16:31 is what we must do to be saved. God was dealing with the nation of Israel Acts 3:19 that was getting a second chance to receive their Messiah because of Jesus prayer in Lk 23:34. The Father forgave them and they had a second chance to receive their Messiah and the desciples had the SIGNS to Jews 1Cor 1:22,14:22 to confirm the word Mark 16:20 because the N.T. wasn 't written yet. Don 't go to hell in Acts 2:38 when you can go to heaven in Rom 10:8-13.

Part 1 Marvin the word of God works in those who believe it 1Thess 2:13. God bless you brother. Chatauna I hope you see that you are leading others astray by teaching a false gospel. Those is Acts 2 asked what must WE do in verse 37 in light of the fact that they crucified their Messiah verse 36. The kingdom was being offered until Acts 7 when Stephen was stoned. Thats why Jesus was STANDING in verse 55 which is what Jesus said would happen in Mark 14:62. They rejected Him so that is why he is SEATED Heb 1:3 until HE comes back to catch away His bride 1 Thess 4:16-18 before the Great Tribulation of Rev 6-19. If you believe Acts 2 if for us today then sell all your possessions vs 44 and 4:32.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Acts 2 - 11 years ago
Hello Jacob and Marvin: First of all the church of God is not a structural building. Our bodies, those that are filled with the Holy Ghost, are the temple of the living God. We are the spiritual church. Paul did not need proof that God was filling the Gentiles with the Holy Ghost, because he was preaching and teaching way before he encountered the 12 men in Chapter 19. When you read those passages of scriptures Paul was not skeptical about people being filled with the Holy Ghost. He laid his hands on them on purpose to pray for them to get it. He was not doubtful at all that God would not fill them with the Holy Ghost, neither did he require proof. In the end, the evidence of the Holy Ghost in your life is that you must speak in tongues as the spirit of God gives utterance.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Acts 2 - 11 years ago
Hello Jacob and Marvin: This is not my Word but God 's Word. Paul preached and taught Acts 2: 38. In Acts 19: 1 thru 7 he rebaptized 12 men in the correct way. He laid hands on them and they were filled with the Holy Ghost. Paul taught not to forbid speaking in tongues, 1 Corinthians 14: 39. He wrote Galatians 3: 27 "For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ ". Paul throughout his Epistles and Books he spoke and taught in one form or another about Acts 2: 38. Jesus even stated that you cannot see or enter heaven with being born again of water and spirit. Peter clarified it on the day of Pentecost with Acts 2: 38. This promise is for everyone, not just the Jews.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Acts 1 - 11 years ago
Hello Bill: You are correct. This was the beginning of the church age and it is extended until the rapture takes place. During this Dispensation of Grace, everyone has to following Acts 2: 38 in order to be saved. There is no way around this. No one will be able to buy their way into heaven, or go because of a certain skin color, status, or education. This is strictly through faith believing and acting upon that faith. Like in the days of old it was stated that obedience is better than sacrifice, 1 Samuel 15: 22.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Matthew 5 - 11 years ago
Hello Bill: John 3: 3 "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. John 3: 5 and 6 "Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit . In order to go to heaven a person has to follow Acts 2: 38. This is the only way to be born again. The promise is to everyone. It did not stop back in the Biblical days. There was an outpouring on Azusa Street. There is still an outpouring today. God is filling people with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues as the spirit of God gives utterance. People need to be saved. The tribulation is coming and it is going to be worse than it is now.

Brother Jacob your comment on 12-30-2014,806 pm... About tongues really edify me. Now I have a better understanding about tongues on what went down back then and what 's going today. Think you and God bless you.
  • Jacob on Acts 2 - 11 years ago
See 1 Cor 14:22 where tongues are for a sign. Thus, the Bible definition from Mark 16 to Acts 2, from Acts 10 to Acts 19, and from 1 Cor 12 through 14, signs were given to Jewish apostles for use in confirming the word see Mark 16:20. In each case this sign gift of tongues was manifest because there were Jews present who were in a state of unbelief. There is no record in the Bible of tongues being used when believers were gathered as a local church. And, if an unbeliever came into a place like the carnal church at Corinth, where human spirits were leading men to babble into the air, he would think he was in a madhouse, not in the house of God.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Acts 2 - 11 years ago
I rewrote Part 1 of 3: Part 1 of 3: Hello Jacob: James 2: 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? The scripture is still valid, because it is the truth and the word of God, John 17: 17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth . The 12 men were not saved, this was the purpose of Paul rebaptizing them and laying his hands on them. It also shows the importance of have Acts 2: 38.
