Jesus, Himself told Nicodemus, in St John 3:1-7, "Marvel not...you Must be born again, of the water and the Spirit-Holy Ghost. Peter, in Acts 2:37-39, was speaking to the people the gospel of Jesus Christ-repentance for the remission of sins, whereby all men must be saved. Then, you Shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.Sinners want to know what 's wrong with Christians today. We-Christians have to repent, daily, and do our first works over-preach Jesus Christ and Him crucified, through repentance-foundational messages. Countless souls die, daily, so we have to speak the life of Jesus Christ into people. May Gods ' tried and true Saints continue to hold up the blood-stained banner for the Lord. I, too am salvaged goods-redeemed by the blood of Jesus from drinking, sexual promiscuity, partying, and all things I THOUGHT I was grown enough to do. I committed my selfish will to God 's will for my life, for Holy is the way.

In Acts 7: 51-60 is where Stephen was trying to tell everyone about the Lord and they stoned him to death cause he called them saying Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye. Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers: As of today to many people are listing to those that have no structure in there own lives but we have to be honest with ourselves first in order to get to God in truth. Acts 2:38-47 is really real it has been real for over 16 years in my life. After receiving the Holy Ghost I no longer smoke, use drugs or alcohol anymore! Hallelujah

Hello everyone to know the truth of God word, Jesus gave the keys to Peter in Matthew 16:18-19 and on the day of Pentecost Peter used those keys when he was asked a question What must we do ? In Acts 2:36-47 read these scriptures and with a sincere heart get to a private place to pray and ask God if this Holy Ghost is real today ? Repent for all of yours sins first then ask him if it 's real to allow you to be filled with his spirit which is the Holy Ghost. I promise you will not regret it, whats wrong with trying it for yourself or how can you go wrong talking to the one upon the throne ? Do it for your own soul. Stay in prayer asking for God presence and don 't be afraid. God Bless everyone!

Hello everyone as I was reading the comments it was very touching but what must be clearly understood is the saving message that was given to Peter by Jesus himself in Matt.16:18-19 the keys to the kingdom of heaven, now I don 't know about anyone else but I would rather be safe than sorry. After Jesus had spoken to Peter about the gates of hell shall not prevail against the Church in Matthew as read above scriptures was given. Myself I would follow Peter to see where, when and how those keys were going to be used. As in Acts 2:36-47 The Lord added to the Church daily such as should be saved. I received the Holy Ghost in April 17,1998 and it still works and I promise if you will just give God some of your time and find you a private place to pray and repent for all of your sins then ask God to fill you with the Holy Ghost and you will not regret it. God Bless everyone!

But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. I Corinthians Chapter 1 Vs. 23 24. and in I Corinthians Chapter 2 V. 2 says. For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

Jesus himself is a word of God, He who accept God 's words and fix his eyes on Jesus will have life. Once we invite the Holy Spirit to dwell in us we will understand his words. Through Jesus death by sheding his blood our sins are cleanse and forgiven, He always confirmed his love and mercy to us by healing us, forgiving our sins and bring us to life, this is the signs, wonders, and miracles that God has provided us. We must believe Jesus that He is the Son of the Living God, the only way the truth and the life, no man comes to the Father except thru Jesus. Jesus loves us, Everything is possible with Christ and he is attractive to wipe our tears.. there is no need to understand the theory how and why God blesses us.. Only believe him that Jesus is the Son of the living God.. Give thanks and praised him for everything he has done to us..

To Joni Gs, Acts 2 Chapter comment on 2 05 2015, 1:40 PM. You said I am going to do what Jesus says and not some convoluted other partial way. Well are you casting out devils now like Mark 16: V.17 says or taking up serpents or drinking any deadly things like in verse 18. You need to be a missionary and go to the Middle East and convert ISIS, I bet they would not give you anything deadly to drink. Honestly all in love you need to read C.I. Scofield 's 1917 Ref. Bible page 1069 notes 16 9.

I believe that God looks at our Heart, not whether we are male nor female, as Galatians 3:28 teaches us, There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. Too, Acts 2:17 teaches us---------And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and daughters shall prophesy and your young men shall see visions and your old men shall dream dreams. We all are one. Again, God looks at our hearts, not whether I am a man or woman. He loves us all and there is room in His Kingdom for each of us. Let 's all trust and allow God to put us in the positions he wants us to be as He will equip us with His Wisdom and the means to do whatever He would have us to do. We all just need to depend on God, not man nor woman. God Bless you.

When Jesus asked the disciples to go into all the world and preach the Gospel in the great commission in Mark 16:15-16 and Matthew 28-19-20, He didn 't say make disciples of believers and baptize Jews only. He didn 't say belief is enough for Gentiles. I am going to do what Jesus says and not some convoluted other partial way.

Isn 't it amazing that people wrest the scriptures to their own destruction. The eunuch believed with his heart. Look at Romans 6:17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed FROM THE HEART that form of doctrine which was delivered you. How did he obey? HE was reading Isaiah and look at Romans 10:16 But they have not all OBEYED the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath BELIEVED our report? In the Church Age believing the gospel is obeying what God requires for salvation. Look at Romans 16:26 But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the OBEDIENCE OF FAITH Water baptism doesn 't connect you with the blood or anything of the kind. It 's not part of our Gospel for today. Show us a passage stating that the disciples were water baptized according to Acts 2:38 or any other water baptism. The eunuch was water baptized AFTER he was saved not in order to get saved and not part of his salvation. Salvation today is not of WORKS, Romans 4:5.
  • Jacob on Acts 2 - 11 years ago
None of those verses say that when we are water baptized WE COME INTO CONTACT WITH THE SAVING BLOOD. That is adding to the scripture. Romans 6, water isn 't in the passage, nor in Gal 3. Concerning 1 Pt 3:21, If you are not in the ark first Heb 11:7, Col3:3 the water will send you to hell like the multitude on the broad road in Genesis 7. That passage also says that water baptism is a FIGURE. See the definition for a figure in Romans 5:14, Heb 9:9. A figure wont save you but it will send you to hell faster than a greased bullet.

We all know that God is Sovereign, his Son Jesus is the only Way to Heaven and we are saved by Jesus blood. There is life in the blood. By faith, when we are baptized into His death, we come into contact with the saving blood. Romans 6:3-4 Galatians 3:27 1 Peter 3:21, Mark 16:15-16

Verse 39 is a reference to Daniel 9:7 O Lord, righteousness belongeth unto thee, but unto us confusion of faces, as at this day to the men of Judah, MATCHES ACTS 2:14 YE MEN OF JUDAEA, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, MATCHES ACTS 2:14 AND ALL YE TAHT DWELL AT JERUSALEM, and unto all Israel, MATCHES ACTS 2:22 YE MEN OF ISRAEL, that are near, and that are FAR OFF, THIS MATCHES ACTS 2:39 AND TO ALL THAT AFAR OFF, Ephesians 2:13-17 wasn 't available to anyone until after Acts 28. Paul wasn 't even saved yet and the MYSTERY of the church wasn 't revealed yet See Eph 3:1-9. Those afar off and their children are the Jews of the dispersion who are represented at Pentecost by the list given in verses 6-11. I hope this helps. Much prayer is needed.
  • Joni G on Acts 2 - 11 years ago
Look at verse 39. When we are baptized into Christ 's death for the remission of sins, we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. This was for the Jews that day, their children and all those far off, even as many as God will call. I was called. I was baptized after I believed. This is still true today. Praise God!
  • Joni G on Acts 1 - 11 years ago
John 's baptism was for repentance whereas Acts 2:38 baptism was for the remission of sins and is still valid today. Yes, after we are born again, we are added to the kingdom. Colossians 2 explains baptism well, also. Yes, there were all Jews present on the Day of Pentecost. Jesus wanted the Gospel taken to the Jews first, then the Gentiles. The gospel is one. Ephesians talks about one faith, one Lord, one spirit one baptism. Make believers first, then baptize them. It is the height of absurdity to suggest the Acts 2:38 baptism is not used today. Philip would have corrected the eunuch, Hey man you believe, no need to be baptized. He did not. A deeper study is required. With much prayer.
  • Jacob on Acts 10 - 11 years ago
Heb 9:17 shows the New Testament started at the death of the Lord Jesus. That means that the thief died in the new testament without water baptism and without works. See John 19:33 to see Christ died first for no one dies in His presence. Now, Acts 2:38 will save no one today. It is the gospel of the Kingdom that John the Baptist was preaching. The mystery of the Church that was revealed to Paul was not known yet. Those in Acts 19 were not even saved. They hadn 't even heard of the Holy Ghost. They had the baptism of repentance. Remember remission of sins is not the same as redemption. Acts is a transitional book from the law to grace. Acts 2:38 will not get you saved today. Eph 2:38 will not match this chapter which is for the Jews. John 3 doesn 't mention the word baptism and the water birth is the FLESH birth and the Spirit birth is being born AGAIN. Baptism doesn 't always mean water and water doesn 't always mean water see Matt 20:23 for example.
  • Jacob on Acts 2 - 11 years ago
We need to see the verse where it SAYS, Jesus Christ is the name of the Father. The name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost are the Lord. Here are the verses to back that up. You know the Father is called LORD in the O.T. In the N.T. Jesus is called Lord Phil 2:11. The Holy Ghost is called Lord in 2 Cor 3:17. Gentiles are baptized in the name of the Lord in Acts 10:48. You have the baptism of John the Baptist in Acts 2:38 and that is not the gospel by which we are saved today. Acts is a transitional book and has several different ways by which people received the Holy Spirit. In the Church age you receive the Holy Spirit by faith alone Eph 2:8-9.
  • Matthew on Acts 2:38 - 11 years ago
The name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost is Jesus Christ! He that hath ears to hear, let him hear!

tongues are nothing but languages.i think god wanted the gosple to be preached to the world and so gave the deciples the power to speak in all the different languages of the world through the holy spirit.

The very fact that these days we live in Corruption has gone sky high not only in The Government, but also in church. And the LORD said that those who knew the TRUTH when they pulled out, becomes prey For the corruption of the church. But when the LORD returns, is there really anyone to save? Something to think about. Amos 8:7 Everyone is striving instead of Praying and asking for His extended mercies. And the ones trying to help out His people Jerusalem and Judea are not bringing them back but dividing them! Acts 2:34-39. Exodus 4:8 Rev 2:14 Isaiah 29:13,15,16,18, 22-24 Isaiah 31:1-3,4-7.
  • Jacob on Acts 1 - 11 years ago
You have to get the Kingdoms right. The Kingdom of heaven can suffer violence and the violent can take it by force see Matt 11:12. The Kingdom of God is entered by the new birth upon believing on Jesus Christ by the gospel revealed to Paul and it is found laid out in 1 Cor 15:1-4. Paul was BORN before his water baptism see 1 Cor 15:8. And Ananias called him BROTHER Saul in Acts 9:17 before water baptism in verse 18. There are no Christians in Acts 2. That term doesn 't even show up until Acts 11:26. Those saved before the gospel of the Grace of God were added to the Church because the N.T. had not been written and the mystery was not yet revealed to the apostle Paul. You can 't be saved by Acts 2:38 today. That 's the way to hell. You are saved by obeying the gospel found in 1 Cor 15:1-4. Rom 16:26 says its the OBEDIENCE OF FAITH. Rom 10:16 But they have not all OBEYED the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath BELIEVED our report?
  • Jacob on Acts 2 - 11 years ago
In the books of Acts there are several ways that an individual is saved. The reason is Acts is a transitional book. In Acts 2 people are saved with water baptism added, in Acts 8 hands are laid, in Acts 10 they are saved before water baptism, then in Acts 16:31 believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved. Baptism in the name of the Lord mentioned in Acts 10 is the baptism for today. The Lord is what the Father is called in the O.T. The Lord is the name of Jesus Christ see Phil 2:11. Then the Holy Ghost is called Lord, Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. Jesus name baptism of Acts 2:38 is Jewish baptism and Jews and proselytes are the only ones addressed in that chapter. Anyone preaching Acts 2:38 is preaching a false gospel for today. If you want to apply verse 38 for today why don 't you apply verse 45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. Rightly divide your Bible 2 Tim 2:15 or it will divide you Hosea 6:5.
  • Jacob on Acts 2 - 11 years ago
This gospel being preached in Acts 2 is that of the Kingdom of Heaven. This is the same gospel that John the Baptist preached. Mark 1:4 John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. The kingdom was still being offered to the Jews because of Jesus ' prayer to THE FATHER, a member of the Godhead Rom 1:20, Col 2:9, Acts 17:29, in Lk 23.34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them for they know not what they do. In Acts 7 Jesus is standing at the right hand of the FATHER. I don 't see how you don 't see the Godhead in the Scripture. Jesus is standing because He was ready to come back if they would have received his message as a nation. That 's what He said would happen. Mark 14:62 And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. Mark 16:19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. They rejected the message and God went to the Gentiles through the apostle Paul. The Gospel for today is found in 1 Cor 15:1-4 and no water baptism or tongues are mentioned. Acts 2:38 is cursed for today Gal 1:8-9. Why? It 's not for us today.

The reason people do not like Acts 2:38,is it donot agree with the doctrine of the Trinity. There is no record of water baptism in the titles or trinity in the word of God.After Jesus rose from the dead,he spoke to the Apostles for forty days,he told them to baptize in the father, and the son,and the holy ghost. The apostles went forth and baptized in the name of jesus.Either jesus is the name of the father, and of the son,and of the holy ghost,or the apostles did not obey what jesus commanded them to do.I believe the apostles were right, they were guided by the holy spirit.I thank God for this truth.God bless
