Blessed: when I first saw that post that's what it look like she said. After I read it a couple more times and thought about it? I think she was talking about what she read that from another post.
  • Irene123 on Isaiah 28 - 9 years ago
    V. 11- "For with stammering lips and another tongue will He speak to His people". This is a prophecy of Acts 2:4; the tongues was the 'evidence' of the Holy Ghost being in them. A 'good feeling' cannot be witnessed by others; a verbalization can be witnessed. God has control of our tongue as this happens - not we ourselves. God, after all, is - alive, and puts His LIVE spirit in us.

Now, to me, knit-picking is taking a scripture(s) and taking IT apart - to mean what it doesn't. What I've done is only quoted scripture - as is. Acts 2:37 - the people asked a simple SINCERE question and Peter, with the 'keys' Jesus had given him - answered them - and - 3,000 were added - THAT DAY!!! Okay, now show where I knit picked here ................

Blessed - I'm sorry for the words I omitted from my message; I'm an editor's dau., but have never learned to proof read - very well. What I said was, I have known the Bible for 50 yrs. and I know there is no difference between Holy Ghost and Spirit. Because the apostles used them interchangeably in one sentence it can get confusing to others. I'm sure it has to do with the 'context'.
  • Blessed on Acts 2 - 9 years ago
Maybe I understood wrong. Did you say there is a difference in Holy Spirit and Holy Ghost?

John 38He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
  • Irene123 on Acts 8 - 9 years ago
To receive the Holy Ghost today you follow the plan of Jesus in Acts 2:38; the people gathered from all over the Roman Emp. in Jerusalem for the Day of Pentecost asked, after hearing Peter's message - Acts 2:37 .....
  • Irene123 on 2 Corinthians 2 - 9 years ago
We are all one in Jesus Christ - IF we are in Him, and He in us. He can only be 'in us' spiritually - through the infilling of His Holy Spirit by following Acts2:38. Yes, it's by believing (faith) in what Acts 2:38 says. I looked up 'faith' in the Bible, Jas. ch. 2; it tells all about what faith is. It's not just Rom. 10:13; it's also v. 14 and Heb. 10:25 - " ... not forsaking the assembling ... "
  • Irene123 on John 7 - 9 years ago
    V. 38 - the fruits of the spirit come only AFTER we have r'cvd His Spirit in Acts 2:38. All 3, repentance, baptized in the NAME of Jesus Christ ... and ye shall the GIFT of the Holy Ghost. It is a 'gift' too. This is Jesus salvation for us.
  • Irene123 on John 7 - 9 years ago
    V. 38 - love, joy - yes, but the 'waters' are our witness of the truth of salvation found in Acts 2:38. Love, joy, peace is also a witness, but do not show the way of salvation they are the 'fruits' of the spirit - not salvation.
  • Irene123 on John 3 - 9 years ago
Rom. 3:8 - we need to be very careful about what the Bible says; Mk. 16:17 are Jesus VERY words, and Rom. 8:9 confirms those words, as does Acts 2:4; !0:46; 19:6.
  • Irene123 on Acts 2 - 9 years ago
Blessed - I've for 50 yrs. there is no difference between the Holy Ghost and the Holy Spirit. On what comment of mine did you make your comment?
  • Irene123 on Acts 2 - 9 years ago
a disciple - Thank-you for the pleasant reply. I was thinking - the new Christians wouldn't take part in their old O.T. things, nor would they be allowed into the temple with their new belief; it would have been a sacrilege to the 'Jews'. I th'ot this because the people gathered with Jesus on Solomon's Porch; He didn't go into the temple proper.
  • A disciple on Acts 2 - 9 years ago
Irene, The Court of the Gentiles was for "the Gentiles;" for there were many from all over the world that came up to Jerusalem, ever since the days of King Solomon. The Disciples at that time were not yet from among the Gentiles, but Jews, and were not assembling with the Gentiles. They did what was commonly done by all the people, gathering in groups; except THEY were filled with the Holy Spirit.
  • Irene123 on Acts 2 - 9 years ago
    V. 46 - The Bible doesn't say such, but there was a 'court of the Gentiles' that these Christians used at the Temple; it was an open roofed court, and in v. 47 they had Christians homes to worship in also. I read a lot of Bible history; it helps in understanding the Bible; I love biblical history.
  • Blessed on Acts 2 - 9 years ago
Irene no difference of Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost
  • Irene123 on Titus 2 - 9 years ago
    V. 11 - the grace of bringeth - salvation ( Acts 2:38. THEN with grace, we are able to continue on in obeying His commandments, Jn.14:15. These commandments are in the Epistles (letters) following the Book of Acts. The epistles are to ALREADY established churches; they are instructions in righteous living for God. They are God's (Jesus) words given to the apostles, not mans words.
  • Irene123 on John 3 - 9 years ago
To be born again - one is born naturally as a physical body. To be born again is a spiritual birth. It happens when you follow Acts 2:38, (note v. 37 where, after Peter's very first message in Jesus new church, the people ask, " ... what must we do?"). Then, all the 'letters' after Acts are instructions to the new churches that have already followed Acts 2:28 on how to live a faithful life.
  • Irene123 on Matthew 28 - 9 years ago
The Lord just gave me an understanding of why Trinitarians WON'T (refuse) to believe in all the scriptures that proclaim - ONE GOD; in Acts 2:38 (baptized in the NAME of ... ) there are a LOT of things we are shown we must 'do' (Jas. ch. 2) to obey His commandments. People want to go their own way - and still live for God. God's not 'blind' to us.
  • Irene123 on Psalms 37 - 9 years ago
Heb. 13:5 - "be content with such things as ye have, for He hath said, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee." For Him to never leave or forsake us - we need to be 'His' in the first place. Acts 2:37-38. "what must we do"? and then Peter told them. Hebrews was written AFTER the church began - to already saved saints. Everything after Acts was to already saved saints in churches.
  • Irene123 on Matthew 3 - 9 years ago
Jesus, as a baby, wasn't baptized because - NO babies are baptized in the Bible. A child has to be old enough to UNDERSTAND Acts 2:38. Peter said be baptized in the NAME of Jesus; Matt. 28:19 says the same thing - baptizing them in the NAME of; Jesus is the Father, and the son (flesh) and the Holy Ghost (Spirit). 1Tim. 3:16 - " ..... GOD was manifest (as the body of Jesus) in the flesh.
  • Irene123 on 2 Timothy 2 - 9 years ago
Acts 2:38 comes before 3:26; Matt. 28:19; Lk. 24:47 ( in the mouth of 2 or 3 witnesses) comes before Jn. 20:28 (My Lord AND My God); then Acts 2:38, 4:12; Rom.10:13, to 'call' on the name is when one is baptized using the name of (not titles) of Jesus.
  • Irene123 on Genesis 3 - 9 years ago
" ... it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise His heel". The first "it" is Jesus, on the cross, sin (satan) put Him there. When Jesus said, "It is finished" and DIED - then Jesus bruised satan's head. Jesus then had the power to enter hell and get the KEYS. He then could give those keys to Peter (spiritually) when Peter preached Acts 2:38, the 3 keys to salvation.
  • Love for Truth on Acts 4 - 9 years ago
Amen Acts 4:12 through no other name can we obtain remission of our sins Acts 2:38 "be baptized everyone of U in the name if Jesus Christ for the remission of sins" Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved.
  • Irene123 on Ecclesiastes 12 - 9 years ago
    V. 13 - It is so simple, easy to live for God. We make it hard in our minds before coming to Him ( Acts 2:38) by looking at the worldly 'things' we have to give up; immodest dress, jewelry, make-up, tobacco, alcohol, cursing, our party wk'ends ( Heb. 10:25). None, NONE of this goes with us after death; it's all vanity. Matt. 6:23 - Seek ye first .....
  • Irene123 on Ezekiel 37 - 9 years ago
    V. 9 - " .....Prophesy unto the wind ..... "; Acts 2:2 - " ..... and there came a sound as of a mighty rushing wind ..... "
  • Irene123 on Leviticus 27 - 9 years ago
Tithing: One cannot judge their church on what it does with the tithe. Because, even if they give out yearly printed documents on what they have done - there's no way to know if that is what was done. The only criteria for judging the truth of a church is - Acts 2:38. This was the very beginning of Jesus' church. Very few 'churches' baptize in the name of Jesus.
  • Irene123 on Romans 10 - 9 years ago
Bud - Rom. 10:8-9 (Rom.1:7 "called to be saints"). The church in Rome was already established; Paul wasn't writing to sinners. Jesus' church was established in Acts ch. 2 ( Acts 2:37-38). The 'calling' and 'believing' were already done for these saints in Acts 2:38. Paul was just reminding them of this because he knew some were weak in their N.T. belief and were thinking about the O.T. law they had

To Wayne: I read Jn. 7:39; what was I s'posed to get out of it?
  • Wayne on Acts 2 - 9 years ago
Irene, read, if u will, John 7:39. Should help.
  • Irene123 - 9 years ago
I am married to a non-submissive husband, and - it's not hard at all to love him because I loved him before I came to the Lord and since then He has put HIS love for my husband in my heart. That's one of His blessings He gives when we are filled with His spirit - Acts 2:38.
