    Hello Winson,

Here are my thoughts on this. If I am attending a church fellowship, regardless of where it's at, I am there for one thing only, and that is to hear the word of God. I am there to be fed spiritually.

There are fellowships where everyone in the congregation are raising their arms in the air and claiming that it is the "Spirit moving them." Now, I do believe that Gods Spirit can move a person to do that, but everyone at the same time, I'm not so sure.

To do it because the pastor is telling people that's what they should be doing doesn't seem right. It should never be because we are told to do it, or because someone else is doing it, or everyone else is doing it.

Please know that I am not saying that it is wrong. If Gods Spirit is moving a person to raise their hands, then so be it.

Here is something important I would like to share with you. Those who support "lifting up holy hands" in church use 1 Timothy 2:8. It says, Therefore I will, and that's the word BOULOMAI, meaning I council, determine, that men pray every where, (lifting up holy hands), without wrath and without doubting.

The emphasis of the text is men. Specifically, Paul uses the word that means male, a man, not people, but a man. In the public assembly of the church, men are to do the praying.

Secondly, they are to pray lifting up holy hands. I am assuming that you have seen actual physical people praising or praying with their hands up?

This phrase (lifting up holy hands) has nothing to do with raising your hands in church. It's actually a Hebraism (Please search it out) that has to do with when you pray, make sure that your hands are clean. You either do good or bad things with your hands. In other words, don't have dirty hands when you pray.

You have a clean conscience and open conscience to God. It explains what it means to be with holy hands. It's those that are without wrath and without doubting. Anger is wrath, and without doubting against God.

alex1939...Michelle good Question... John 3 :16 God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth on him will not perish but have eternal life.

.....1 st Peter 1:23...Being Born again of an INCORRUPTIBLE SEED even by the WORDS of God that liveth and abideth for ever.

......Nicodemus was teaching that the works of the law wd bring righteousness....But Jesus was teaching that we wd needed to birth a New Heart and a New Spirit...A new innerman...Mankind needs someone Heavenly to guide him...Christ in us..The H.G.

.....Which is the Child of Promise...The woman in Rev. 12:10 is giving birth to the Child of the Kingdom...Now is come salvation and the Kingdom of our God and the power of his Christ...Remember smite the shepard then i will turn my hand to the little ones...The babes and sucklings that are able to praise God with a perfect praise...Our new hearts and new spirits...

.....What Jesus did at Calvary by the shedding of his blood is gonna result in a New Covenant...And a Kingdom is in this Child.

.....Unless you receive the Kingdom of God as a lil Child you will in no wise enter there in...Which is the result of the heavenly Birth... Isaiah 60:22 kjv...A lil one is gona become a 1000 and a small one a strong nation...I THE LORD WILL HASTEN IT IN ITS TIME...Which is that which is born of the spirit the H.G...An Israel of God...Which is Christ/the H.G. born in us.

.....Thats y he always refers to himself as the son of man....Mankind is gonna have a spritual baby which is the H.G...That HEAVENLY BIRTH...Thats y Hebrews 11:1 describes faith as a spritual pregnancy...The substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen.. is a beautiful picture of a spiritual pregnancy the Child is the H.G...the gift of God...By the seed of the bridegroom...ok lemme go...

Please pray and stand in agreement with me that my son Daniel WILL be delivered from his addiction to alcohol. I have

seen the mighty hand of God save this young man so many times. I know God has a purpose and a plan for his life. But

I have also witnessed the total destruction this terrible disease is having on my family including myself. Its SO hard to

watch someone you love being destroyed by addiction. I know God does not give us more than we can bear but I am at

my breaking point. I do believe in the power of prayer, so I am asking for all of you to pray for a total restoration and

healing for my son to be free from this devastating disease. Thank you and God bless!!

What church is Jesus referring to in verse 17, if His church was 1st established on Shauvout i.e. The Day Of Pentecost as recorded in the book of Acts when The Holy Spirit filled the 120 believers/followers gathered together in the upper room in Jerusalem after He (Jesus) had risen from the dead?

Or should the word church recorded here by Jesus in verse 17 have another interpretation, such as synagogue etc?

Or is the word church mentioned here the correct litteral interpretation?

THINK ABOUT IT? This came to my attention this a.m. on 12/15/2022.

Oh LaShunda, I am so sorry that you are having trouble with your eyes. I will pray for you.

Dear Heavenly Father, we ask that You will restore Lashunda's eyes to health so that she can see without trouble. We You cause her tear ducts to re-open and that tears can go through to cleanse and lubricate her eyes again. We ask that You prevent any blindness in Lashunda. We ask all of this of You Father, for You love us so, and we ask in the name of Your Son, Jesus. Amen.

    Psalm 63.

In studying these and other Psalms recently of David; I just realized that there is quite a parallel in his life along with the Lord Jesus Christ-namely; they both spent much time in the wilderness.

Being the Son of God; there were some things; such as guaranteed indestructibility until His time came that He was aware of. However in both cases there was much time for praise and worship as well as prayer. David doesn't seem to mention prayer as much as the Gospels do with Christ arising before dawn and even praying all night in the case of choosing His disciples.

Psalm 91 gives assurances of angelic protection such as we see in verse 7. Christ was strengthened by angels; and also had Satan quote verse 11 in that Psalm to use against Him.

One needs to be cognizant of their walk with God; because without the full armor of God we risk His Spirit being grieved and allowing some of our protection to be lifted so as to teach us not to stray. To misuse scripture to attempt to bring a blessing or angelic power for our own personal gain was something that Satan tempted Christ with; so we should know better.

Verse 9 in Psalm 63 once again is a very clear indication of hell "lower parts of the earth" those who would attempt to destroy David; and of course God will have vengeance when Christ returns to destroy the earth's armies at Armageddon. (see Luke 19:27).

    Michelle,

John 3:13 is part of a chapter outline that begins at Verse 1 and goes to Verse 15, and it is the presentation of the Spiritual birth from heaven.

In John 3:13, Jesus is telling Nicodemus that that He was the only One that has come down from heaven. He said, but if I tell you earthly things and you don't get it, and you are the master teacher?

He should have associated the Lord's teaching to Ezekiel Chapter 37 Verses 1 through 15.

This is where God takes the prophet and He shows them a valley of dead bones and says this is Israel. Spiritually dead! And He says to him, prophecy over these bones that flesh would come on them. And the bones came together and the flesh came on the bones.

And then He says prophecy to the wind that the wind would blow on them and breathe life in them. And he prophesies and the wind blows and they are filled with life and spirit.

And so God's promise to His people Israel is that you are spiritually dead until my spirit gives you life. But right now you are spiritually dead!

And He tells Nicodemus, you should have known what I was talking about. How can you be the master teacher in Israel and you don't know anything about being born from above? You don't know anything about the wind blowing, and how the spirit moves!

You may be referring to Proverbs 25:20-21 "As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon nitre, so is he that sings songs to an heavy heart," "If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty give him water to drink:" Proverbs 25:22 "For thou shall heap coals of fire upon his head, and LORD shall reward thee."

Also James 2:15-17 "If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone." + James 2:18-20 "Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I shew thee my faith by my works. Thou believest that there is one GOD; Thou doest well: The devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?"

Chris and Duncan gave great answers but I felt led to add these. Sometimes actions can lead to joy more than words.
