Just my thoughts: I don't believe there's any prohibition in the Bible to 'celebrating' or even just acknowledging holidays created by men (governments). Even Christmas & Easter, which we know, have their roots in paganism, but has been 'christianized' to remember the Lord in His Birth, Death & Resurrection. Each one has to decide in his/her own heart what they consider as acceptable, proper Christian belief & practise. It's when you get into countries that do not have a Judeo/Christian basis of government or values, then the believers in those countries may get their holidays as time off work as others do, but should not participate in their celebrations. The Hindus & Muslims have their specific holidays which are rooted deeply in their religion & practises, so it won't be correct for the Christian to identify with those; however, many do.

The early Church, as we read in the New Testament, often met together for fellowship, ministry from the Word & the breaking of bread. At this time, as I picture it, they would have found in & during their fellowship meal, the time to quieten their hearts & be led in remembrance of their Lord & Saviour, in what Christendom now celebrates as Christmas & Easter as well. So we can't judge one another in this matter - each has to be convinced in his/her own heart, respecting those who wish to acknowledge or distance themselves from any particular celebration. And I don't believe the Lord would be concerned either, rather how the Christian's heart behaves, not only in this matter, but all that comes before us requiring our thought & decision.

    Hi Robert,

All sin is wrong. All wrong, or at least, most 'wrong' I can think of is also sin. So, I think these are practically synonymous in my view.

Some pick their own list of what they consider 'wrong' so this list may not line up exactly with another person's list.

But God's examples of sin should be universal and absolute.

Please pray for me as I have been struggling with my mind a little and have gotten of track. I found my way back, but I could use the prayer to sleep a good night's sleep. I haven't slept much lately. Pray for all the world and the blessed things in it. I believe God loves the whole world and it's a shame to only pick one part to pray for. I pray for every man, woman, and child as we are all people. I believe we are all sinners and I believe as long as we acknowledge the things we do wrong while there is time and talk them out with the Lord and make amends with ourselves for the wrongs we have done and that we have prayed to the Lord through Jesus with all this and asked for his forgiveness, I believe he'll show us the way. Thank you, God Bless you, and AMEN

I have been reading parts of the Bible for the last 5 years. I have let questions about what I have read as well as prayer to the Lord guide me on what Books I would read next. But I have lately felt like I am not progressing in my faith. What should I be doing differently? I ask for your prayers and guidance in Jesus Holy Name.

It's amazing to read comments on bible verses and how people are able to support their doctrine with other verses .

Just about anything can be made a doctrine easily .

Let's get back to the teaching of the Holy Spirit . Look up a man George Muller of Bristol, he did just that , he put away all the teachings of men and just Trusted God to give him the understanding. Look what Mullers accomplishments with this method of obeying the word of God , worth checking out . Lots on the net about him , his testimony is obeying the scriptures.

In Genesis 1:28:And God blessed them, and God said unto them,

Be fruitful, and multiply, and REPLENISH the earth, and subdue it.

Does this not indicate that there had been persons on the earth before?

Greetings in the name of JESUS. I have some words of encouragement. Testimonial. When was the last time , If you ever had yourself a one on one conversation with your Lord and Savior, JESUS CHRIST...It's so important to have yourself a serious relationship with your JESUS !. JESUS is the way. The only way. Call on his name. To what ever storms you are facing in your life. Give your heaviness to your Lord and Savior. He knows everything about you. And what you are facing. JESUS is waiting for all of you who reads this. That he wants you to take your prayers to the next level. Like may I have taught. And gave them a DARE. I dare you to try JESUS. YES !. It is so simple . Now I am sharing with you to what my Lord and Savior revealed to me. GO into your secret place. Also offer JESUS a taste of coffee, (JESUS can taste the coffee through you ) Don't laugh. Just try it. It is like me telling you. Hey sister or brother. I would like to talk with you. May I offer you a cup of coffee. I call this FELLOWSHIP. Yes Fellowship . Say JESUS please sit down with me. I need to talk with you. Their is something heavy in my heart. NOW !, I am going to give you the KEYS. JESUS knows your pain and trials. BUT !. he wants to hear it from your lips. Through this DARE. I've Converted and Baptized, Hindu's , Monk's and Muslims to JESUS CHRIST. Seriously JESUS wants a one on one relationship with us. To draw closer to him. You'll be bless in JESUS name. Can I get an Amen. try It. For I already now the results are great. Hello...

How does one get a clear conscience, I have repented and turned away from my past way of living study Gods word daily and try whenever I get the chance to talk to others about Jesus I know i cannot earn or work my way to heaven, but i do volunteer work to help others and when I have to make decisions I make them based on what I have read in the bible I was a backsliden christian who fell far from the Lord probably farther than most "drugs/alcohol and all that goes with it,am i looking at it the wrong way? Is it like when a man goes to jail guilty as charged but someone else paid for it so the judge says i am free to go, now even though the judge let me go and am not charged, I am still guilty. Is that how I should look at my life that even though i am saved I have to carry this weight on my back until i get to heaven? I was looking at things like when I was first saved when the guilt of past sins came upon me I knew i was forgiven and the weight of the past didn't have any effect on me, not so this time.

I agree, that is something hard to understand when so much of the creation & the creature declares the supreme presence of a Being Who only could undertake this great task. To say that things just happened out of nothing requires a whole lot more faith. After reading what you wrote, I thought of that great quote by Pres. Abe Lincoln, though he himself did not claim to be a Christian, yet demonstrated wonderful thoughts & attributes that would have brought him much closer to the Lord, I would think.

He once said, "I can see how it might be possible for a man to look down upon the earth and be an atheist, but I cannot conceive how a man could look up into the heavens and say there is no God."

And dear brother, you WILL get to Heaven: your faith in Christ's work at the Cross, your new nature in Christ, the Spirit's indwelling you, is the guarantee of your redemption. God will not undo or sideline what He has done for you & in you - His Work was too great & too costly for any errors or shortcomings.

Ephesians 1:13,14: "In whom (Jesus) ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were SEALED with that holy Spirit of promise; which is the earnest (guarantee, promise) of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory." You belong to the Lord & nothing, but nothing, can separate you from His Love.

Thank you brother Steven I agree with your nice reply also. My brothers in Christ sure have helped me on this subject. Keep sharing the great knowledge God has given to you. I am still learning much daily about the LOVE OF JESUS. I try to give God 3 hours each day in his holy word. Then I share the GOSPEL DAILY with everyone I contact within hearing distance. Most take a LOVE LETTER FROM JESUS; TITLED: GOD'S SIMPLE PLAN OF SALVATION. I pray for you daily with all my brothers and sisters in the world, especially missionaries; that we all will witness daily what Jesus has done for us. I am saved by the blood of the only sinless man born of a virgin Jesus Christ; THE ONE AND ONLY WAY TO HEAVEN.

The New Testament is full of symbols we must understand what each symbol represents the beast that it's coming up out of the sea and in Revelation 13 is the US we must understand that this beast looks like a lamb which is what a baby Buffalo is called. It's soul purpose is to return power to the dragon. Do you know who the dragon is? It's not satan!

  • Jay - In Reply on Luke 1:31 - 5 years ago
Yes. And Jesus is also a Father to Israel, the church, his body because he is the Son of David. He is the head of the body, and therefore the brain power of the body. He has also given us the power to become sons of God because we believe on his name ( John 1:12).

The church is the New Jerusalem. The ancient nation of Isreal can only access God the Father through Christ, their promised Messiah. If they reject Christ, they have not God the Father ( 1 John 5:12; 2:23).

God told me to tell everybody that he is coming and told me to warn the very least among us from the son of perdition (doom), the anti-christ, from Daniel's little horn (the kingdom of Judea). On march 22, 2019, God woke me up about 2:02 in the morning to the sound of the trumpet, followed by the declaration, "Jesus, the Messiah."

God also told me "The next One World Order will be Communism where the military again will be champion."

He told me also, "The Beast will come from the Mediterranean" and "When the World Dictator comes he will have a translator with him."

He has told me many things that I have documented and will share for free when I am done writing.

Please join me in letting others know that our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is coming very soon but before he comes, the anti- christ ( 2 Thess. 2:1-12).

Those who reject Christ are in opposition to Christ or anti- christ (Judaism and Islam). They are striving over an inheritance from their father Abraham that they can only access through the cross.

Hades in Greek, or Sheol in Hebrew, is generally defined in these three ways:

    a. the Grave. A place of bodily rest & decay. Acts 2:29-31.

    b. a place of punishment for the wicked. Luke 16:20-23; Matthew 11:23.

    c. a temporary place for the righteous dead. Luke 16:23-26. The Luke account seems to indicate that hades had two areas separating the righteous from the wicked in death. But after Jesus' death & resurrection, the righteous are no longer held there, being justified by faith, for which the Cross provided the means now which they didn't have before Christ's death.

Hades will always oppose Christ's Church ( Matthew 16:18); it must be distinguished from being just synonymous with death ( Revelation 6:8); it will one day be destroyed ( Revelation 20:13,14); Jesus has the 'keys' to it ( Revelation 1:18); & it is remains now only a temporary place of the unbelieving dead, as the Apostle Paul believed that Hades would not be his destiny, but Heaven ( 2 Corinthians 5:8).

That was a great statement of Truth & your belief on salvation & the Christian life that you shared, & it certainly augers well for your Pastor Bryce in his clear ministry to each of you who meet there. And we can take confidence in the fact that its "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost" ( Titus 3:5). There was nothing, absolutely nothing, we could do to contribute to this great Work of Salvation gifted to us through Jesus Christ. It's all of Grace made effectual by faith: and this whole 'deal' (i.e. grace through faith) is God's Gift to us. We needed both from Him: His Grace & His Gift of Faith - nothing we could generate from our corrupt sinful selves - it's all from Him and all for Him.

Walk confidently & in holiness, in the joy of your Lord, my dear sister.
  • Chris - In Reply on Psalms 96:2 - 5 years ago
Norman, I just want to add another point to Adam's very good perception of "people wanting to believe what they want to believe". As we read of Jesus' Life & Ministry, we see that the Jewish religious leaders were never far away. Their sole objective was to discredit Jesus & to also keep the people from following this 'false teacher with strange doctrines & claims'. Not only did they have to protect their understanding of the Law, & of course their added rules & regulations thereby overburdening the people & compelling them to adhere to what they said, but they had to protect their own position & credibility. The matter of God's Word, of Truth or of the witness of Jesus' Life & Work before their eyes had little or no bearing as the other (more important) matters of 'their rules, their hold on people & their position in the eyes of the people' outweighed anything else.

So when we read of Jesus' full blown accusatory remarks against these "blind leaders of the blind" ( Matthew 15:14), He did well to describe them as "whited sepulchres", as "vipers", "hypocrites", "blind guides/fools", etc. This was not said by Jesus as snide remarks as to those who opposed Him, but as if speaking to workers from Satan, "children of the Devil" ( John 8:44), who did nothing for the Kingdom of God, but only served Satan, dragging many innocent people with them to hell. If in any group of people, whether in Islam, RC, the cults, etc., where the adherents are bound to their leaders or else face wrath & retribution, ought to be a clear demonstration of the fallacy of such a system & its great departure from the Truth.

So many began to follow Jesus by what they heard & saw of Him ( John 10:40-42), thereby opposing the Pharisaical teachings & no doubt facing their wrath, but also they followed the dictates of their consciences, of what they witnessed & the opening of their eyes by God's Spirit. Christ came to set men free in many more ways than we fully realize.
