1 Thessalonians 5:23, "And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." I wonder whether Paul saw a distinction & a collective accountability of the whole person?

have you ever rode a bike up a steep hill? Half way up you tire? That's when the work really begins. That's when the race is at its peak! That when the steadfastness comes , it starts when you ask yourself do you really believe. Do you believe that He has the power to help you across the finish line . Do you believe every word he has said to you? You can do all things through Christ who will strengthen you! Steadfastness is when u finish with him! While you wait once again for the next race!

How God calls us to himself? The power that draws us unto him , he has a specific plan for us! Personally, even as a child he uses us in certain ways. As we mature and experience the life we have in this world, We are always in the palm of His hand. We may not know it , but he is using us all the time. There is no way for us to know the needs of others, it is only when he moves in us, he uses us! Sin ,will always be Satan's op. to throw us off. Make us feel guilty! Christ understands these things, that is why he came. That, we would be free through his accomplishment in the flesh. This is a great thing he has done for mankind! I would say that Jesus enjoyed his life. His love for others, and what he saw in his children's eyes , could be nothing less than who he is! Blessed are those who have not seen and believe! Christ the same today and everyday! Thanks be to God through our lord Jesus Christ.

Here is the Geek. " My Father who has given (them)to me greater then all is, and no one is able to seize out of the hand of my Father. "Gave them to me" would be the correct interpretation .God created you, therefore made it possible to know God through His son .When this happens no one can take you out of his hand. You are literally in Gods hands. Jesus Hand! As Christ began His ministry, everything that happened was according to his Fathers will. Every disciple, that joined him was from God the Father. Every thought, every person who came to him ,God the Father brought them to him! Every word that he spoke came from God the Father. Jesus said that He was here to do His Fathers will! I and my Father are one! The only time I see Jesus without his Father is during temptation. That is a whole other place. I wish to say, comes upon all of his children at one time or another. Even still no one can take you out of his hand!

    Mild Bill.

The resurrection spoken of in the Bible is physical not spiritual. As Christ had a physical resurrection Luke 24:39 so will we be resurrected physically with a new body as stated in 1 John 3:2. The soul as I previously stated is the whole person body and breath ( Genesis 2:7) that will be raised to eternal life, Or raised to eternal destruction.

The doctrine of an immortal soul states that our spirit lives on immediately after death and either acsends to heaven or descend to hell. This is all spiritualistic and not Bible based as I previously stated.

  • Sharon Wright - In Reply on John 10 - 5 years ago
Thanks for the response. I agree with everything you said, but it still doesnt answer my question. The discrepancy is which Bible version is correct...my Father gave them me...or, ...my Father gave them TO me...
  • Fred Scanlan - In Reply on Genesis 3 - 5 years ago
Jesus said I am That I am! He is alpha and omega. He has know beginning and no end. He is everlasting. You are asking an impossible question. God is a God of the living ,not the dead! There are no dead ends in heaven! God is the great I AM!
  • Fred Scanlan - In Reply on John 10 - 5 years ago
The Father, gave Jesus from himself. God was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself! Jesus declares the Father. The Father and the Son are one! Jesus at the same time calls Him His Father . The unity of the trinity is the foundation of the gospel. We do not serve a monotheistic God! We serve the trinity. In verse 30 he answers your question. Anytime man adds to or subtracts from the word it is for mans design and not Gods. These, 3 cannot be separated. If man must die to preserve these truths . Then we say Amen!

John 10:29 in the KJB refers to..."my Father who gave them me..." yet, in the NIV it says..."my Father who gave them to me..."

Which is the correct translation...gave them me...or, gave them to me?

Comments by Alex about water baptism and baptism of the H.G. the gift of God. Jesus told the Woman at the Well of 2 kinds of water 1 was Jacobs well but the other was the gift of God that living water which is the H.G. That Jesus describes as a well of water springing up unto everlasting life . Jesus said that whosoever drinks of this water, Jacobs well ( water baptism ) shall thirst again. Our thirst for salvation is not fully quenched by water baptism you will thirst Again. But the gift of God which is H.G. BAPTISM is like a well of WATER springing up unto everlasting life . Remember when JESUS SPOKE OF LIVING WATER jOHN said this he speak of the SPIRIT for the H.G was not yet given b/c that Christ was not yet glorfied . And Jesus refers to the baptism of the H.G as the baptism of PROMISE, Behold i send the PROMISE of my father upon you which was baptism of the H.G everlasting life etc. But what is this baptism of PROMISE, ITS SIMPLY THE MULTIPLCATION OF Christ in humanity VIA HIS GOOD SEED the GIFT of God A BABY CHRIST,THAT CHILD OF PROMISE THAT LIVING WATER . That was the great Promise i will multiply thy Seed ( his word ) as the stars of heaven, thus the babes and the suckling he mentions are truly the result of that heavenly Promise ,The ISRAEL OF GOD, That are gona be born in US SINNERS. Unless you receive the Kingdom of God as a lil Child you will in no wise enter there in ( the new birth ) Remember when Pharoahs daughter came to wash she found a Child Hid in the Nile, MOSES MEANING DRAWN FROM THE WATERS Synbolic of a baby Christ we draw from the baptism of the H.G. THE RIVER OF LIFE. the H.G. tHE CHILD OF PROMISE. k later

  • Chris - In Reply on Habakkuk 2 - 5 years ago
God's prophets, as Habakkuk was, received God's Messages to them or for the people in various ways. Here we see that Habakkuk received a vision (i.e. it wasn't in a dream, but a vivid portrayal of what was to come before his eyes). He was instructed to not just regurgitate the vision by word to others but he was to write it down on tables (or, tablets which could be of hardy material such as stone or wood), & to write it legibly (i.e. using clear large characters), so that those reading it may read it correctly & become so disturbed & horrified by this prophecy, that they go in haste to proclaim this news.

And verse 3 is important: this prophecy was yet to be fulfilled at a much later time but when that time arrives, it would be fulfilled to the letter. And even if might seem a long time in being fulfilled, the command was to be patient & wait for it, as what the Lord ordains will happen. And of course, the prophecy was given because of Judah's many sins & idolatrous ways, resulting in the forthcoming captivity by Nebuchadnezzar's invasion & taking them prisoners to Babylon. Even similar prophecies have been given from time to time as God always sends out His warning by the prophets to His people. But the people never change & so they suffered greatly under His Hand.

Doing wrong is going against what man say or constitute is right but sin is going against what God say. That's why the Bible say "For the wages of sin is death" that means all sin, but it does not say for the wages of doing wrong is death because some wrong doing will lead to death
  • Mild Bill - In Reply on 1 John 4 - 5 years ago
Alex, It is you who has taken the word of God out of context, so as to further the lie you teach. Saved by the fire, regardless of what a person believes, is not by faith in Christ to have paid for sins. Jesus did say, "it is finished", that is, the work of salvation which he finished on the cross. "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." Hebrews 12:2 "And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;" Hebrews 5:9, not ALL, as you say, will enter eternity as saved. Alex, you diminish the sacrifice of Jesus.

While I address this reply to Alex, I know he will not hear. But this forum is open to many others who come here with an intent to hear and see God's word. It is no surprise that agents of Satan will be here to slander God's word. They operate as the fowls following the sower, to take away the seed of truth. Luke 8:12

I'm sorry to read of the loss of your dear husband & you have held the pain of his Home-going as well as the loneliness for these past five years. I'm sure you would have committed each day to the Lord, both in managing your daily affairs & the sense of emptiness in your life. The Lord sees & understands & I'm sure He has been very close & precious to you during these past years. Whether we're young or old, all our desires, hopes & the paths we plan to take have to be committed to Him & we need to be prepared to be directed by Him.

The Lord could just drop the right man before your eyes, or more likely draw you to one as you continue to wait on Him & meet with other believers. Do you attend a Church fellowship? Do they have special get-togethers for older folk, whether around the Word or going on outings? This would be the best way to meet & know those in the group & they too would get to know you & your situation. They may even know of a good Christian man also in such a situation that you could be introduced to. Or, the Pastor may be made aware of your need so that he too can keep this a matter before the eldership & diaconate for prayer & watchfulness.

Otherwise, there maybe special times for older folk run by aged homes, welfare organizations, etc. where folk can meet up & share in wholesome activities together, even if they are not necessarily 'Christian'. Any of these aren't wrong to join, but in everything we must submit to the Lord's leading & providing & not go ahead of Him. In any situation we find ourselves in, it is always, "My Grace is sufficient for thee". Walk closely with your Lord & He will satisfy you with His goodness & love.

Just my thoughts: I don't believe there's any prohibition in the Bible to 'celebrating' or even just acknowledging holidays created by men (governments). Even Christmas & Easter, which we know, have their roots in paganism, but has been 'christianized' to remember the Lord in His Birth, Death & Resurrection. Each one has to decide in his/her own heart what they consider as acceptable, proper Christian belief & practise. It's when you get into countries that do not have a Judeo/Christian basis of government or values, then the believers in those countries may get their holidays as time off work as others do, but should not participate in their celebrations. The Hindus & Muslims have their specific holidays which are rooted deeply in their religion & practises, so it won't be correct for the Christian to identify with those; however, many do.

The early Church, as we read in the New Testament, often met together for fellowship, ministry from the Word & the breaking of bread. At this time, as I picture it, they would have found in & during their fellowship meal, the time to quieten their hearts & be led in remembrance of their Lord & Saviour, in what Christendom now celebrates as Christmas & Easter as well. So we can't judge one another in this matter - each has to be convinced in his/her own heart, respecting those who wish to acknowledge or distance themselves from any particular celebration. And I don't believe the Lord would be concerned either, rather how the Christian's heart behaves, not only in this matter, but all that comes before us requiring our thought & decision.
