Too often people lift a verse or even a phrase out of context or even miss quote.
Rule #1: ALWAYS read the context, what was written before and after the passage in question.
Jesus NEVER said not to judge. Jesus did say to judge rightly.
"Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye." Mat 7:5
Fortunately, some new influences came into my life and slowly, question by question I had began being answered. I began filling the holes in my faith and I began feeling more hopeful about life. I'm grateful for everyone who followed God's nudging to come walk with me and offer support, even if for a short time. I believe God can use people to be blessings in other people's lives. And I was a recipient of that. I seek to pay it forward. I'm imperfect and still hit bumps in the road, but try my best to follow Jesus, love God and love my neighbor.
I also realized life isn't about me being happy. God doesn't exist for that. He's not a genie in a bottle there to serve me. I'm not entitled to anything, despite what this culture brainwashes people into believing. However, when I shift my focus onto loving God and loving others and deciding to be content, I naturally become far happier and satisfied with my life. Interesting how that works.
"God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?" Num 23:19
This was uttered by a pagan prophet who was prevented by God from pronouncing curses against Israel. It is truth.
Exodus 32 & 33 tell a compelling account of Israel rebelling against God and God expressing His anger in order to get across to us the level of anger and disappointment He had with them.
In 32:7-24 He says that He wants to destroy them and replace them with Moses and his descendants. But Moses intercedes for Israel and reminds God of His promises to Abraham Isaac and Jacob (AIJ). And finally, "And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people." Exo 32:14
God knew and planned all along that He would not utterly destroy them but fulfill His promises to AIJ.
Chapter 33 begins with God repeating His promise to AIJ. But He also said, "And I will send AN angel before thee;" Exo 33:2 not His own presence. In Exo 33:12-16 Moses intercedes for Israel and this gem, from the lips of The Lord is right in the middle.
"And He said, My Presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest." Exo 33:14
God gives us these instances where He appears to want to vent His wrath on sinners but then changes His mind, withholds justice and bestows unmerited grace. And as you read and study you will see that this is what God intended to do from the very beginning.
Although this promise was for Israel, wandering in the wilderness, Jesus is still the same.
"Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me...Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever." Heb 13:5-6,8
This is getting interesting from what I'm finding in the Scriptures. As I agree Paul received the Gospel from the Lord in revelation. As the original disciples/apostles of the Lord were first hand witnesses and lived with the Lord.
So it seems, I believe this is mostly Peter in these verses, that the Gospel he preached was also for the remission, forgiveness, of sins and our salvation through Jesus Christ.
Acts 2:38
Acts 3:19
Acts 4:12
Acts 5:31
Acts 10:43-44
Maybe the point you are trying to make is that he(other apostles) did not exactly say it was that He "died" for our sins? As I can't really be sure of that as the early preaching in Acts, that I posted, was only of Peter. There also being ten other original apostles preaching around. It could be though.
This is interesting what I came across. In Acts 9:26-27. As this seems to be not long after Paul's conversion. After his first preaching of the Lord in Damascus. Being saved by other disciples of the Lord ending up in Jerusalem. Then in verse 27 Barnabus took him to the other apostles. As I can't be positive but I don't think Peter was there at this time as a couple verses later it states he was in other places.
This does not seem to be the same trip to Jerusalem as Paul spake of in Galatians 1:18. As in Galatians 1:19 he states "of the other apostles I saw none". Interesting how in Galatians 1:17 stated that he didn't go to Jerusalem after he was saved or converted. Lots of stuff going on.
God Bless.
Paul, who you claim, preaches a different gospel than the apostles, made it a practice to preach in synagogues in the cities he enters.
"And it came to pass in Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake, that a great multitude both of the JEWS and also of the GREEKS believed." Act 14:1
"And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the JEWS and the GREEKS." Act 18:4
"And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both JEWS and GREEKS." Act 19:10
"Testifying both to the JEWS, and also to the GREEKS, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ." Act 20:21
Neither Jew nor Greek...
"There is neither JEW nor GREEK, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus." Gal 3:28
"Where there is neither GREEK nor JEW, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all." Col 3:11
"There is ONE body, and ONE Spirit, even as ye are called in ONE hope of your calling; ONE Lord, ONE faith, ONE baptism, ONE God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all." Eph 4:4-6
Sorry, there's ONE Gospel:
"But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach ANY OTHER GOSPEL unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed." Gal 1:8
I strongly doubt that Paul believed that Peter et al were ACCURSED.
If you read carefully, the death, burial and resurrection ARE in the apostles teaching. I think the difference is in signs and wonders and in emphasis on OT fulfillment. Jesus needed Paul, with a PhD in The Gospel.
Appreciate your fervor and Biblical integrity, Charles. I FONDLY remember lunchtime debates I've had with other brothers who believed The Gospel but differed in other areas. Iron sharpen iron. Thank our Lord for His unfathomable mercy and grace!
Thank you .
4:18: "every faith year" should read "every fifth year".
4:30: "the king's concubine, called Antiochus" should read "the king's concubine, called Antiochis". (Antiochus is a man; Antiochis is a woman.)
4:34: "prayed, him" should read "prayed him".
4:39: "the fruit thereof" should read "the bruit thereof".
I was doing great at the job but my wife just couldn't find her way in the work field and was slipping away from being a wife/friend/sister, in the lord due to her not being able to fit in somewhere doing some kind of work, although she didn't have to go to work since the lord had blessed me with a good annual income to provide for the both of us,but she needed something to keep her busy and just couldn't find anything. I started to notice changes with her and odd behavior's happening , so as time continued to pass I just kept praying the lord will help her and guide her, but she just couldn't pull it together . Her friends were not Christians and she was falling back into drugs and drinking. I didn't know how to handle it and the churches we were attaining didn't care enough to help.
It was on a Sunday early evening when I got the call from my mother in law saying to me that Debbie had died, this is when the real story of my life begins, since that day I began to fall myself back into old habits and began to pursue DEATH to be with my Debbie. I did what I could do , to get to the grave and so I make a long story short because there are so so many words to add to the story here and to explain all of my experiences, all I can say at this juncture is if my story can be worth telling on your web-site...
But you'll have to agree nothing beats Bible study for having fun!
Please pray that God place his shield and place his hands around us and put us all in his arms.
Pray to continue to keep my sons safe while they are in prison and keep them safe from this virus.
Ask God to protect me and my family from all harm and danger.
Thank you...
And his body was white as snow and red as the blooming of a rose, and the hair of his head and his long locks were white as wool, and his eyes beautiful. And when he opened his eyes, he lighted up the whole house like the sun, and the whole house was very bright. 3. And thereupon he arose in the hands of the midwife, opened his mouth, and conversed with the Lord of righteousness. 4. And his father Lamech was afraid of him and fled, and came to his father Methuselah. 5. And he said unto him: 'I have begotten a strange son, diverse from and unlike man, and resembling the sons of the God of heaven; and his nature is different and he is not like us, and his eyes are as the rays of the sun, and his countenance is glorious.
John of Revelation describes the Messiah as:
His body was like beryl, his face like the appearance of lightning, his eyes like flaming torches, his arms and legs like the gleam of burnished bronze, and the sound of his words like the sound of a multitude*. Daniel 10:
"His head andHis hairwere whitelike white wool, like snow....His feet were likeburnished bronze..."
His skin is also said to have looked like Chrysolite;
My point is, this description of the Son of Man was of his HEAVENLY form and was very much otherworldly and not like any flesh and blood human. Lamech describes his son Noah as having this same otherworldly appearance. But said his skin was white. So I don't believe this shows us he was black. I think the earthly version of the Son of Man was middle eastern
Please just pray for me, God knows what it's about.
Thanks a lot
