Genesis Chapter 30 Comments ...

Sharon's comment on 10/28/2013, 4:09am...

sowing is much easier than reaping! jacob deceived his father and reaped the consequences of getting ahead of God. God does and did forgive, but, that forgiveness does not erase the depth of our actions or the consequences. Just as He does today, God was merciful unto Jacob inspite of his deceit!

Christians should have faith in Our LORD JESUS in everything. We need to pray to HIM without ceasing as written in the BIBLE.

@ Herman German III It is in Exodus 20 that God Himself gave the Ten Commandments. They were not Moses's law but written with the very finger of God!
Exodus 20

King James Version (KJV)

20 And God spake all these words, saying,
2 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
7 Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. 12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord God giveth thee.
13 Thou shalt not kill. 14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.
15 Thou shalt not steal.
16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

For us, that question of intercourse and marriages, when did God ever mention about the Sabbath, honoring mom and father, coveting, etc... Not until Moses because then Jesus came and explained it all. Please don't let America tell you what is right or wrong, as opposed to God. If marriage was not between man and woman, where would we be?

HARRY ALLISON and BEAUTIFUL WIFE SHIRLEY.'s comment on 2/03/2013, 8:15am...

Deceit, jealousy, pride, envy and all other sins are still alive today! Although now we have HOPE in JESUS who died for our sins. HE broke the chains and did away with the law. JESUS wants a relationship with us!

I feel that we can also learn from this, waiting, trusting and having faith in God. Because if we decide to do it our way, it’s not going to work. At the end it’s going to be what God said it would be. We will always have to do it God’s way for it to work.

Debra Webb's comment on 10/30/2012, 6:58pm...

I was rather shocked at how the two sisters played themselves against each other. I'm so happy that we are no longer under the law, but under grace and truth. It's amazing how Jacob got the cattle, sheep, goats, and asses to be become speckled and spotted. Thank you God for Giving your son. And in return your son giving his blood shed for me! Hallelujah Praise the Lord.

God's word is unbroken. He means what He says and He does that truly and faithfully.

Osondu Onwuzuruigbo's comment on 9/01/2012, 11:36pm...

Rachel had a need and desired a change but lacked understanding, character and a sense of where lies her solution. Although it was for Leah's sake, Leah was not the cause of Rachel's barreness. All Rachel needed to have done was to change her attitude towards Leah, instead, she completely ignored God and arrogantly sought the solution of her barreness from Jacob who did not possess the power to help. Ill character and misdirection of hope surely will prolong ones deliverance.

Sparkle's comment on 2/13/2012, 10:45am...

Did Jesus come and end all this by giving strict commands as to marriage and number of wives. Somebody did because I dont remember reading so much incest and multiple marriages in the New Testement.

Celina O.'s comment on 9/22/2011, 1:42am...

This is a no no this days inside or outside the church. In early times the world was to be populated and that was the permitted custom so please. Let's not go any further. It is not permited today. We have 1 man and 1 woman. thanks

J.R.'s comment on 8/29/2011, 2:02pm...

Well, I'm not sure how this will go over, but take it with as much wisdom as you can. See, back then, this was socially acceptable, but that didnt make it right. When people lean to thei rown understanding, and dont trust God, these things happen. Instead of beliving in Gods word, people try to make up for their "apparent" shortcom ings ie; having no kids. It's also important to remember how the cast and inheritence worked back then. Without any male children, women couldn't own or have any inheritence. If you ask why, go see what God said to Eve in genesis.....about how the husbamd will rule, and about how the children will act.

Sunny Oboh's comment on 1/12/2011, 1:36pm...

Well, the whole chapter is quite interesting but what is so shocking for me, is jacob marrying two sisters who are also his first cousin, and then as if that was no enough this women, had to give him their made to sleep with and he could not say no, and he bare children thru the maids, it looks to me that in those early days there were no laws as such , and all that was acceptable to God, because God did not caution him, i hope someone can give me some explanation on this.

RALPH M. WATERS's comment on 1/05/2011, 9:30pm...

We must remember that from Adam until now the people duty to populate the world. At this time (Later) - This was not weird or a sin.

Yvette's comment on 4/06/2010, 6:34am...
