Wesley's Notes for Genesis 18:1

18:1 This appearance of God to Abraham seems to have had in it more of freedom and familiarity, and less of grandeur and majesty, than those we have hitherto read of, and therefore more resembles that great visit which in the fulness of time the Son of God was to make to the world. He sat in the tent - door in the heat of the day - Not so much to repose himself, as to seek an opportunity of doing good, by giving entertainment to strangers.

I love your statement it had to be Jesus who stood at the door of the tent the same happen in Moses days when everyone was complaiting and god spoke to Moses and said gather your people around the mount and see that no one touch for in the same hour ye touch you shall die and God spake His voice was so powerfull they feared His voice and repented and told Moses they would hear him the second time is when the three Angels came to destroy Sodom and gomorrah one was liken to the god

We must understand that JEHOVAH(LORD)is the 'SON OF MAN'& for and through him all things are created (Col:1:15,16). He is the care taker of all his creations.('Prajapathi' in Sanscrit language. which means he is all in all for human race). It was not GOD appeared to Abraham since no one can see HIM (John 1:18,1 Timothy 6:15,16). But the 'SON OF MAN'(JEHOVAH or LORD) who came out of GOD, and He is the God of Israel. Hence,it is no wonder that LORD appeared to Abraham.
