The fact that the Holy Spirit Over came upon Mary and the power of the Most High overshadowed her and she became pregnant is the intriguing and amazing part in the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. It had to be through the perfect seed of God himself for Jesus to be born. No human could meet that task. Only the power of God in Christ could defeat Satan and bring back the Creation to God in its perfection and holiness through Jesus.

Luke 1 reads, 'What an honor this is, that the mother of my Lord should visit me! ' The only Lord Elizabeth knew was YHWH GOD of the Old Testament. So this is the God she was talking about. And she called Mary the mother of this God. Then she said that her baby shouted for joy because God 's mother was near her. It can 't be no other way! Elizabeth was refering to Paslm 88, versse 1, where David said of God, 'O Jehovah, God of my salvation, I have wept before you day and night. ' Please tell me if I am wrong. But isn 't Jesus the one who saves us? Then Jesus is the God David is talking about. People get confused because they forget that God has two other personalities besides Jesus. But only through Jesus does he save us. The Father, then, is the way God directs his affairs, but he is not the way God saves us. This is only done through Jesus. May God open pur hearts to understand!

There are many references and prophesies in the word Pertaining to the coming of the Savior Jesus Christ But in Luke 1 I think we find the most comprehensive and complete Prophesy concerning who Jesus was to be and what he would bring to the world

I want to know who 's mouth was open and begin to speak in luke 1 verse 64, and also why were the people, afraid and said what manner of child is this
  • Rev. Autrey on Luke 1 - 11 years ago
Luke 1 recor, 42When Elizabeth heard Mary s greeting, the child leapt in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and exclaimed with a loud cry, Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. 43And why has this happened to me, that the mother of my LORD comes to me? 44For as soon as I heard the sound of your greeting, the child in my womb leapt for joy. 45And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfilment of what was spoken to her by the LORD. Notice that Elizabeth used the word LORD to mean GOD. This means that Elizabeth knew that Mary was to be the mother of GOD. The people had waited a long time for the appearance of GOD AS SAVIOR to deliver them from their enemies. But we know that the real enemy was their many sins. This is what Elizabeth was talking about. So when the people refered to Jesus as LORD, they meant that they considered him to be God. The sense that the word LORD means GOD has been lost in today 's religious world, but this was not so in the days of John the Baptist and Jesus. What I am saying is, we must bring it back. Paul said in Romans 10 that we must confess "that Jesus is LORD OR GOD " in order to be saved. He goes on further to say that we must also believed that Jesus raised himself from the dead. And he tops it off by saying that anyone who prays to Jesus by calling on his name will be saved. Please consider this! "

Luke 1 records, 13 But the angel said to him, "Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. 14 And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth, 15 for he will be great before the Lord. And he must not drink wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother 's womb. 16 And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God. This speaks of the work of John the Baptist. Notice that it referes to John 's turning the people to Jesus as turning them to the LORD THEIR GOD. And notice, too, that the angel used the words LORD and GOD to mean the same thing. This means that when the people refered to Jesus as LORD, they meant that they considered him to be God. The sense that the word LORD means GOD has been lost in today 's religious world, but this was not so in the days of John the Baptist and Jesus. What I am saying is, we must bring it back. If the first month is April, then October is the sixth month, which will render the birth of Our Lord round about July and not December 25.

Mary 's gift to Christianity is her unique relationship with Jesus Christ. Each christian has a valid relationship but no other christian has such a unique relationship. Only the first Christian, Mary, could give birth to her own savior and nurture her savior into adulthood to save the rest of us. That 's what Mary is telling us. That 's why catholic and orthodox christians venerate Mary. Its the unique relationship that is venerated.
