People just don't understand about Sun. worship: it's not a DAY we worship, it's the PRACTILITY of Sunday: a LOT of people don't work at their jobs on Sun. Phariseeism, narrow mindedness, self-righteousness. Sunday is just common sense. Saturday is fine with us for folks who worship on that day; it's not the day one worships, it's WHO. Outside of the cup is beautiful, but ........

    V. 21 - "Chief Priests of the Jews", said write I Am; Ex.3: 6,14; Jn. 18:5-6. Interesting - that the priests didn't realize who He was or what they said. In Jn. 19:21 -- they SAID Jesus was - God - and didn't even realize it. Matt. 23:15

Verse 18 shows that these scriptures have a prophetic meaning. Comparing this verse with Mark 15:24, Luke 23:34, and John 19:23, 24 shows that thousands of years later these words were fulfilled in what happening with Jesus' garments.

  • David on John 19:30 - 10 years ago
Thd phrase "It is finished " means that Eolhim 's design is completed. Eolhim created the cosmos. The cosmos became flesh. All have sinned except one. The Lamb of God. 16 "For God loved the world in this way He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will have eternal life. John 3:3-5 ...no one can see the Kingdom of God unless born again of water and the Spirit. James 3:10 tells us that cursing and blessings can not come out of the same mouth, Jesus tells us a house divided can not stand...

All prophecy was fulfilled how could we doubt that Jesus was the Christ?
  • Thomas on John 19:11 - 10 years ago
A magistrate is regarded as someone having the super powers in the worldly human sense but I see Jesus Christ overiding all their powers and instituting his dominion ,authrity and power. He said unless the power is given from above that is Christ himself.

Can you imagine the condition of this body, beaten and bloodied? How depraved is lost fallen mankind, and still worse than ever today.

Look Mr.Pilate, I came to fulfill the old testiment prophecies. Now I am to be beaten, mocked, spat upon, cursed, despised, then nailed to a cross until dead. This is my FATHER GOD 'S will that I do this and I love you as well as my accusers. So unless you would take my place, let 's get the show on the road. HALLELUJAH! HALLELUJAH! PRAISE GOD! The thief died under the new testament. Heb 9:17For a testament is of force AFTER MEN ARE DEAD: Now look at John 19:33 But when they came to Jesus, and saw that He was DEAD ALREADY, they brake not His legs: He died before the thief thus placing him under the new testament. Jesus was preaching a different gospel than that revealed to Paul. Matt 10:5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, GO NOT INTO THE WAY OF THE GENTILES, verse 7 says, preach, saying, The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. 8 Heal the sick. Do you preach the Kingdom of Heaven and heal the sick? The kingdom was turned down and Jesus sent Paul to the Gentiles Acts 9:15, Rom 11:13, etc. You are not saved by water baptism but Spirit baptism of 1 Cor 12:13. You do not DRINK the water in the baptistery. The Holy Spirit comes into the inside of you to live 1COR 6:19! Then seals you Eph 1:13. Please get saved today if you are trusting water to get you to Heaven.
  • Jacob on Acts 10 - 10 years ago
Heb 9:17 shows the New Testament started at the death of the Lord Jesus. That means that the thief died in the new testament without water baptism and without works. See John 19:33 to see Christ died first for no one dies in His presence. Now, Acts 2:38 will save no one today. It is the gospel of the Kingdom that John the Baptist was preaching. The mystery of the Church that was revealed to Paul was not known yet. Those in Acts 19 were not even saved. They hadn 't even heard of the Holy Ghost. They had the baptism of repentance. Remember remission of sins is not the same as redemption. Acts is a transitional book from the law to grace. Acts 2:38 will not get you saved today. Eph 2:38 will not match this chapter which is for the Jews. John 3 doesn 't mention the word baptism and the water birth is the FLESH birth and the Spirit birth is being born AGAIN. Baptism doesn 't always mean water and water doesn 't always mean water see Matt 20:23 for example.

It is finished! We who believe in the glorified Christ can now enter His Rest. We can come boldly to the throne of Grace and ask for mercy and grace to help us in the time of need.

  • BRIAN VICTOR WILFRED on John 19 - 11 years ago
The death of Christ was ordained before the foundation of the world and nothing could have changed it. The devil was really blinded to the extent that he thought he has finally got the opportunity to destroy the only Begotten Son of God and he did not see the real reason for the Death on the Cross. If he had clearly known that Christ 's Crucifixion will Snatch the Key of death and Hades from him Give us repentance Give us easy forgiveness Wash away our sins Give us a new birth Bring us closer to God Make him and the entire kingdom of darkness bite their tongues anytime the name Jesus is mentioned Make him bow before us ordinary mortals he would have fought tooth and nail to avert it. You see, Pilate has every right to set Christ free with no one questioning him WHY but everything worked according to the perfect plan because when the chief priests read the inscription "Jesus of Nazareth, The King of the Jews " and asked him to change it to "He said, I am the King of the Jews ", Pilate stamped it that "what I have written I have written " and that was final which means that he could not change the decree sanctioned from Heaven to save mankind despite the fact that he really wanted to because God sent Him to earth to die and save us.

Jesus said I am thirsty, He was not thirsty for the vinegar, but for the souls who don 't knw knw about Christ. He wanted to fullfill the scripture.
  • Kennedy Darko on John 19:30 - 11 years ago
When christ had received the vinegar, the vinegar here was our sickness, death poverty.after taken all the pains of humanity this gave him the power to shout it is finish and christ commanded our destiny.Jesus gave up his ghost,he handed his power to us.

  • Joe on John 2 - 11 years ago
    T Bennett,
It is by no means disrespectful. In fact the opposite is true. First, “What have I to do with thee?” Is like saying what do you want me to do? Second, when Jesus refers to Mary as “Woman” the Greek translation does not denote any disrespect. In John 19:26 while Jesus was on the cross he was deeply concerned about her sadness and grief, yet again he refers to Mary as “Woman”. He loves her as he does all of us. There was certainly no disrespect.
  • KJB on Acts 2 - 11 years ago
"Chaz could I share some Bible(KJB) with you? Acts 2:38 couldn't save a tadpole. The theif died under the N.T. Check the Bible not your pentecostal preacher. ( John 19:33) But when they came to Jesus, and saw that He was DEAD ALREADY, thy brake not His legs: Jesus died before the theif my friend. You say so what. Ok. ( Heb 9:17) For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth. See he died under the N.T. Uh oh. Now look at the context of John 3. Water baptism isn't even mentioned. The first birth is always water ( Gen 1:20, Pr 5:16-18, Isa 48:1). Nothing like a King James Bible to clear up false doctrine. Check ( Acts 2:38). It is a bunch of Jews (verses 5,14,22,36) in the chapter that require a sign ( 1Cor 1:22). And if you get arrested for stealing, is it in order to get stealing, or because you had already stolen. Pray about that and see what you think. Amen."
  • William Brown on John 19:25 - 11 years ago
To me it does not make sense that there would be two girls in the same family that would have the same name, I believe 'MARY'S sister' is Salome, the mother of James and John, Zebedees wife.
Matthew 27:56 Among which was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses,[Jesus mother] and the mother of Zebedee’s children.[Salome]
  • Brian on John 19:15 - 12 years ago
the people turned to samuel and asked for their own king, the scribes and priests done the same, but think on ,even today we have our own king in our wretchedbodies, our choice except the true King,Jesus Christ.its true what Paul says, anything thats good for us we do not want, anything thats no good,we want.man has no sense.LORD i LOVE you.THANKS FOR YOUR SACRIFICE
