If we look at events unfolding today; it is no surprise when we see verses such as 1 Peter 4:17 on God judging the church before the world; and the scripture on many falling away in the last days ( 1 Timothy 4:1 and other passages). The events of Revelation MUST take place; and will come to pass after the "restrainer" is removed ( 2 Thess. 2:7).
Therefore; there is to be expected increasing efforts from the forces of evil under Satan's dominion to attempt to jump start this process. There are many times in recent decades when an apocalyptic scenario unfolded which the Lord stopped from going any further (such as the area of Babylon under Saddam Hussein in the 1990s with the Gulf War looking like an early fulfillment of the final destruction of Babylon). We could go back centuries to see all the Antichrist candidates since Nero (Napolean; Hitler; Mussolini and many other dictators). Of course the main focus of prophecy is Israel who has miraculously been able to hold that tiny strip of land in the Middle East despite many wars (1948 at it's inception; 1967; 1973 and other skirmishes with Lebanon and the current one on many fronts). I personally believe Psalm 83 is beginning to reach it's fulfillment and may end with the Isaiah 17:1 prophecy on the destruction of Damascus (with many weapons said to be underground there and terrorist cells). I believe after success over the surronding nations Israel will at some point sign the Daniel 9:27 covenant with many to avoid futher regional strife with Turkey; Iran and other enemies who will be consolidated under Russia.
We are; of course to continue to occupy until He comes (for some reason I can't find the verse I want here); and we are to remain as "salt and light" ( Matt. 5:13-14). God uses us to hold back evil but we need to focus on the Great Commission not bringing down a world system. We live as an example to the world ( 1 Peter 3:2 is a good example).
But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.
Romans 8:38-39 says:
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
It would seem that we are coming to the fulfillment of both Psalm 83 and one of Isaiah 17:1 very soon as well. At some point a false peace will take over at the first seal of Revelation and it could appear to head that way immediately before then; followed by the Rapture. We probably have years ahead; if He tarries of unprecedented persecution and sad to say martyrdom. We are said to be hated of ALL nations; then the end will come ( Matthew 24:9). This could have a final fulfillment during the Tribulation but also could be speaking of today.
Prayer of course is paramount. I know someone who has recently moved to Israel in the ministry (I will leave out his name and position for security sake). He and his wife see firsthand the displacement of hundreds of thousands from the border areas being attacked on multiple fronts. There are those behind the scenes funding and staging the mass demonstrations in several cities today who no doubt will not stop until they are forced to and have no less goal than overthrowing our government and making this into a Muslim country with Sharia law. No doubt we should continue to pray for individuals the Lord puts into our lives. Some things are better avoided; but we all need to search our hearts to trust God if we need to defend the life of another in these situations of mass looting and no doubt increasing violence. We all need to prepare for martial law at the very least. The end is near and now it is vital that we preach it and trust God iving obediently
The burden of the word of the Lord in the land of Hadrach, and Damascus shall be the rest thereof: when the eyes of man, as of all the tribes of Israel, shall be toward the Lord.
According to Isaiah 17:1 Damascus shall become a ruinous heap. There will be a highway; nonetheless in the last days according to Isaiah 19:23 there will be a highway from Assyria into Egypt which encompasses part of Syria; Turkey; and a couple other nations. Isaiah 17:3 states the rest of Syria will be as the glory of Israel. No doubt there will finally be peace among the survivors of the surronding nations.
The destruction of Tyre is also mentioned in Ezekiel 26 and 27 (along with the prince of Tyre and king of Tyre in chapter 28 signifying a human and Lucifer controlling things behind the scenes with his history). This prophecy was partly fulfilled; as to some of the details which I won't elaborate on here.
The same could be said for the Philistines and others mentioned in verses 5 through 7; verse 8 shows the Lord's conquering and control in the future.
Verse 9 is a direct prophecy of Christ riding on a donkey during Palm Sunday and signifies hi eventual rule on earth. His dominion from sea to sea is also in Psalm 72:8 and was a popular hymn of Sir Arthur Sullivan as seen in verse 10.
The rest of the chapter talks about prisoners being brought forth; interestingly it mentions the "blood of the covenant" in verse 11. That shows the King of Kings here but apparently can refer to the earlier promises from the Abrahamic covenant. We see the final blessings here in the last verse for the whole earth; and God's majesty in deliverance of prisioners and over all the enemies of the land. Verse 13 mentions the sons of Greece which certainly had some fulfillment in the book of Maccabees but could indicate some areas near where Antichrist rules from as being conquered with prisoners set free also.
Isaiah 17:1 speaks of the destruction of Damascus. I am told that the Assyrians did that destruction a very long time ago. Will there be a second destruction that leaves Damascus in a ruined heap and no longer a city? Is that possible for the prophecy to occur twice?
Damascus was a place mentioned several times in Old Testament, Genesis 14:15, Genesis 15:2, 2Samuel 8:5,6, 1Kings 11:1-25, 1Kings 19:14-18, 1Kings 20, 2Chronicles 16,
Isaiah 7:8,9, Isaiah 8:4, Isaiah 10:9, Isaiah 17, James 1:5,
In the New Testament it's the road to Damascus was the place of Saul's conversion to Paul: Acts 9, Acts 22, Acts 26, it's symbolic to many Christians as a turning point in Christian faith.
Christ knows all events, past present and future. As helpless saved creatures His children surrender and expect all things to work for their good. We should apply this verse to our troubles we face. The robbers, rioters and businesses burners, are allowed to afflict it on hard working loyal obeying citizens. These rioters are being paid and encouraged by the NEW WORLD ORDER. These are brute beasts depicted in Peter and Jude, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.
Isaiah 17:4 And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean.
This is the day of the Lord, a similar description below:
Isaiah 24:16 From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs, even glory to the righteous. But I said, My leanness, my leanness, woe unto me! the treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously; yea, the treacherous dealers have dealt very treacherously.

"Sin desolates cities. It is strange that great conquerors should take pride in being enemies to mankind; but it is better that flocks should lie down there, than that they should harbour any in open rebellion against God and holiness. The strong holds of Israel, the kingdom of the ten tribes, will be brought to ruin. Those who are partakers in sin, are justly made partakers in ruin. The people had, by sins, made themselves ripe for ruin; and their glory was as quickly cut down and taken away by the enemy, as the corn is out of the field by the husbandman. Mercy is reserved in the midst of judgment, for a remnant. But very few shall be marked to be saved. Only here and there one was left behind. But they shall be a remnant made holy. The few that are saved were awakened to return to God. They shall acknowledge his hand in all events; they shall give him the glory due to his name. To bring us to this, is the design of his providence, as he is our Maker; and the work of his grace, as he is the Holy One of Israel. They shall look off from their idols, the creatures of their own fancy. We have reason to account those afflictions happy, which part between us and our sins. The God of our salvation is the Rock of our strength; and our forgetfulness and unmindfulness of him are at the bottom of all sin. The pleasant plants, and shoots from a foreign soil, are expressions for strange and idolatrous worship, and the vile practices connected therewith. Diligence would be used to promote the growth of these strange slips, but all in vain. See the evil and danger of sin, and its certain consequences."
Assuming that your coded word can mean, 'reference' (to the end of time), we cannot be sure about Damascus' situation in the last days. Isaiah 17:1 declares that Damascus will be destroyed & verse 3 links it to Ephraim. This prophecy was fulfilled in c. 732 BC when the Assyrians attacked the city of Aram (see 2 Kings 16:5-9 for this account): King Ahaz of Judah sent messengers to the King of Assyria for help & deliverance from the invasion by the King of Syria (at Aram). The Assyrian king complied, attacked Damascus & captured it. And the King of Aram (Rezin) was subsequently killed.
So in one sense the destruction of Damascus was completed, but we know that Damascus was later rebuilt & became quite an influential city in New Testament times, becoming a flourishing major cultural centre with numerous synagogues and a large Jewish community. So there is no more destruction foretold of the city in the Bible, but one could expect that it would figure in the last days as the Anti-Christ sets up his throne in Jerusalem & that whole region will be subservient to him or else face his wrath. Though certainly that region, along with Damascus will suffer under God's Anger in the days of the Great Tribulation. In that case, the prophecy against Damascus is yet to see its ultimate fulfilment.
Why the wrath of GOD came upon the above ? 10 Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength, .... .... Note, 2020 is the identical twin to the above, nevertheless SALVATION is made available to us through John 3:16 -21 .
FROM NOW THE END BEGINS: "Mideast In Uproar After US-Linked Oil Tanker Reportedly Struck By A Torpedo While Passing Through The Gulf Of Oman Earlier Today It comes as tensions in the Persian Gulf between the United States and Iran are threatening to reach boiling point. In recent weeks, Washington has sent a number of battleships to the region in response..." Cor!
I think that God is upset of the thing that is happen in the world and he is telling to search our life to see were we are in chist that when he come we are ready we thing of thing to get us rich and we for get abot what is importion
Thank You Father our Lord our Saviour, Christ Jesus, for Your Word. Amen. The prophecy of this chapter is happening today before our very eyes. Syria is destroyed, people are fleeing when allowed and the United Nations are rushing to the diplomacy table, appearing to seek peace. Arise LORD and have mercy on the people: all for Your glory. Let our days here be few. In Christ Jesus we live! Amen
This chapter seems to be revealing what is happening in Syria today. ISIS is causing a massive exodus of Syrians see chapter one - Damascus capital of Syria is taken away from being a city.
Thank You LORD for sending us Your Spirit and opening our eyes: The devil is now here in flesh as the antichrist and as the lion. That devil is just getting started first by destroying DAMASCUS SYRIA which is the city and country he presides over. See Isaiah 17:1. That antichrist terrifies all the middle east and EVERY WORLD LEADER as documented in Job 41:25. May You rebuke him LORD according to Your will. O LORD deliver us from his terror while You pour out Your wrath. I pray that You forgive us of all our sins according to Your will and all for Your glory. Thank You JESUS! In Your name we pray. Amen
I am for sure that this Chapter is about the woe upon this earth. That we to need listen to God so that we will know what is about to come to us so we can be ready for him that he will fight for us If we are for his Son Jesus and have his blood apply to our heart.
It 's 3 30AM 04 11 14 The Holy Spirit spoke to me concerning Chapter 17 of Isaiah and to look at it from the standpoint of the Psalms 83 war. Chronology is a major problem when trying to line up the wars mentioned in Psalms, Isaiah and Ezekiel 38,39. The fact that Psalms 83 might trigger the Rapture and the 83 war along with the start of the Tribulation Period. It seems that the 83 war could be tied in with the facts of Isaiah 17...I am still praying about under standing the three places in Scripture of wars concerning eschatology. Any comments would be greatly appreciated...G d Bless....JEB
I started reading the book of Isaiah today and when I came to 17:1 I had a flash back to the news last night, there was video of the total destruction in the streets of Damascus and all the suffering with it. I believe this scripture was referring to events now. waiting for the return of our King!
Yes, certainly this is coming to reality. Jesus said, I am coming Rev 22:12, so brothers and sisters
of all nation, let us not forget the creator of the universe so that YHWH will not scattered us but gather us in his arm for eternal life. Syaloom
I think they'll bomb it to ruins, there are no nukes just cold war jargon.
There needs to be a peace treaty presided by the many as in Daniel, so I don't believe this is the gog/magog war from the north although gog and magog and the papacy are involved.
It's the catalyst for their false peace treaty of 7 years.
Jesus is the name above all names. You can call Him Jesus and He will know who you are talking about. He created the languages. Also, you will read in Revelation 9:11 "in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon." (KJV) Some say that we should only call JESUS by "Yeshua" but we see here that a name can mean the exact same thing in two different languages. He knows His name in English I guarntee you.
He that endures to the end shall be saved. AMEN
This is a good time to be pressing in to Jesus as
the allienment of this prophecy is about to be fulfled. Look up your redemption draweth nigh!
