Galatians 3:7 certainly could be an answer to your question. It isn't merely the physical descendants of Abraham who are true children of God ( Romans 9:7-10). God has a remnant that He saves from both the Old and New Dispensations ( 1 Kings 19); Matthew 7:21).

Keep in mind also the difference between physically being preserved for a time and spiritual deliverance. These are both realities for the children of God in reverse order. In New Testament times as with Old many are called but few chosen ( Matt. 22:14). There are other verses showing how some experience some of the benefits of being in God's presence ( Hebrews 6:4) are still not ultimately saved. The parable of the sower and the seed illustrate this fact showing how the seed of truth must eventually not only take root but produce fruit. God enables that His Spirit reproduces good fruit in our lives as evidence that it is indwelling; not merely an external event. Hence all true believers are "sealed" until the Day of Redemption ( Ephesians 4:30).

In God's Providence there are some; such as the 1/3 that are preserved "going through the fire" ( Zechariah 13:9) who appear to make it physically through the Tribulation to repopulate the earth in the Millennium. That will include the handful of Gentiles that make it; although man is said in general to be "rarer than the gold of Ophir" who makes it through that way ( Isaiah 13:12).

Thus; these verses and a multitude of others makes it imperative that we "test ourselves to see if we are in the faith". ( 2 Corinthians 13:5). I personally believe that through God's sanctification process we all must get beyond our initial excitement over being a new believer as well as the trials of persecution AND temptations of the world to be "tested and approved" as true believers as part of the process of chastisement as God's adopted children. ( Romans 12:2; etc). The end of all those called and chosen in Him is glorification (read all of Romans 8:30).

    Hope this helps.

    Sammi:

Christ constantly caught flack from his peers, he said we should expect the same thing.

    You have ALREADY BEEN RESURRECTED.

1 Timothy 6:16 Christ ONLY hath IMMORTALITY, dwelling the light (the presence of God, Abraham's bosom) ....

1 Corinthians 15:53 ...this mortal SHALL put on IMMORTALITY ---Christ only hath immortality ---

1 Corinthians 15:38 But God giveth it (the new creation, the born again) a BODY (you are the BODY OF CHRIST) as it hath pleased him (the Father), and to every SEED his (the Father's) OWN BODY (Christ is the body of the Father).

Ephesians 4:4 ONE BODY (man, Christ being the FIRST among many BROTHERS, joint heirs), ONE SPIRIT

Ephesians 4:5 ONE GOD and Father of ALL, above ALL, and through ALL, and in you ALL.

John 16:8 And when he (the spirit of Christ) comes (it began at Pentecost, the feast of the FIRSTFRUITS) he will reprove the world of SIN .....

John 16:9 Of SIN because they BELIEVE NOT ON ME -----I am THE LIFE, man is my BODY, man does what the will of God causes him to do ---

Don't let your angry over come you

    It's okay to be angry

    What is angry?

Don't let angry grow just let it go

How do you let it go

We must forgive and love one another

God is with us at all times

    Seek opportunity to show love

Speak to the sprite not the person

Jesus is the answer, as Christian we must show love at all times

Can we love like Christ? Can you do the same?

    The Holy Spirit (introduction)

When the Spirit dwells in an individual in our current Dispensation a foreign righteousness enters our world. He uses the most subtle means and is often quite gentle; but make no mistake. He's not there to do anything less than cause the death of our old nature and all the desires of the flesh. How willingly we submit will determine our spiritual rewards or lack thereof; and could even shorten our life if we aren't careful ( 1 Cor. 11:30). I HIGHLY recommend new believers to examine Paul's writings to the Corinthians after gaining a basic understanding of the Gospels. There is much to learn there about maturity; church discipline and many common problems still relevant today involving cultural surroundings and the affect on those who are new creatures in Christ. 1 Corinthians 4:21 gives the question if Paul would be preferred to come with a "rod of discipline" and this can be applied to the Lord Himself chastising us as we grow in faith. He is the "Captain" of the ship and therefore of our souls ( Heb. 2:10).

The mystery of God involves how God can dwell with man; the infinite with finite flesh ( 1 Cor. 3:16-17). As long as we are on earth; this paradox of foreign righteousness contends with the flesh and we are torn between the two. Christ; then IS our righteousness ( 1 Cor. 1:30) but the source comes from without. We die daily ( 1 Cor. 15:31) as we are transformed by the renewing of our mind ( Romans 12:2).

The church was built with the plan for the Body to be "fitted together" ( 1 Cor. 12:18 and also Ephesians 4:16). Once we get past the melee which was the state of the Corinthians as a "motley crew" that had to be disciplined we are in theory to build one another up. That involves the strong in faith teaching the weak ( Titus 2:4-6) (and apparently 84 other verses in scripture specifically relating to women in that role!) as well as exhortation; rebuke; and reproving ( 2 Tim. 4:2); as well as sympathy ( Rom. 12:15)

    I agree.

As for the bible translations, I prefer the king James version.

However I don't believe Gods message don't depend on mans ability to "hear" and unlock the treasures with his intellectual insight.

I believe pride, hinders spiritual growth as well as partiality more do than bible translations.

God arm is not to short to where he would have a translation error thwart his plans.

You can pull up an outline or lesson on any book in the Bible and display it but yet don't even fully understand what is being displayed.

I believe Giannis or Chris said it in another post.

You should seek prayer regarding Pastoring a Church.

If God called one to preach or teach, He WILL teach. He will not be able to get away.

We layman have a responsibility with this treasure as well

    Ephesians 4:1-32.

What about the tares in the Church?

Do we dispose of them like a bad translation? The Lord says no. Matthew 13:28-30.

What about building one another up in love? How do we do that?

By knowingly lying to them? Or truth?

    How about false praises?

We are sold on great performances, great long intellectual speeches and a carnal display.

Our flesh is attracted to these things.

We coexist in a worldly culture that influence our Christian walk.

You see NOT speaking the truth you can avoid persecution.

I would rather have someone rebuke me "with correct scripture references" than to falsely lift me up.

The pastors and teachers, by the Spirit of God is to do their part (Minister to the sheep). Reception and spiritual growth depends on the condition of the believers heart.

    God bless.

    Predestination part 4.

As I likely posted earlier there are certain limits to understanding God's counsel as stated in Deut. 29:29. There is a point such as with Pharaoh where God Himself hardens a man's heart once he has irrevocably hardened his own heart; that is something in His foreknowledge that God determines for every man who is unsaved. We as believers have been "grafted in" ( Romans 11:11-25). The scripture makes it clear that man has no excuse as we see evidence in the Creation and of the Godhead ( Psalm 19; Romans 1). We are "fearfully and wonderfully made" ( Psalm 139:14) and therefore human life is sacred. Or; as the Declaration of Independence states "we hold these truths to be self-evident".

God is a God of Covenants and as He states "all the souls are mine" ( Ezekiel 18:4). This whole chapter I have found as an excellent rebuttal and witness to the Jewish community who occasionally insists on doing a "Mizpah" when they find out one side of my family is Jewish. It states in the same passage that the "soul who sins will die" thus removing any parental privilege in being of any physical descent as well as making all individuals responsible for their behaviors. We need to see here that someone can turn from wickedness to righteousness; and the opposite is true. Ultimately; I would say that Ephesians 4:30 makes it clear that we don't lose our salvation IF truly saved. There are many tares mixed in with the wheat however. Again; that is part of God's plan; as well as using Satan to refine us through temptations and persecutions. Since God created everyone then we are all to be eternal beings in our spirit.

Also as Jesus pointed out to Thomas "blessed are those who haven't seen and yet believed" ( John 20:29). Just look at the Tribulation where; by the way Revelation 13:8 shows Predestination for all those NOT in the Book of Life. Just as in the time Christ was here the first time seeing ISN'T necessarily belief TO SALVATION. REV6:17

    Hi Gerald

You wrote, "An Apostle of God is not ordained by man at all ,but ordained by God ." and you are right. My question to you is, how does God ordain ministries? Does He speak, does He show visions,..., how?

Paul in 1 Ephesians 4:11 talks about the ministries in the church, some of them are apostles and prophets. So from your posts I think we agree that those ministries should still exist in the church, God and His Word haven't changed. But according to your opinion how does God points out who is what?

Ephesians 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

Believing seals you with the Holy Spirit

    Ephesians 1:13

In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

And to address Jessie's point about the devil believing that is different from the faith we have in believing that Jesus died, was buried and rose again for the remission of our sins. Their belief is not a salvation belief.

    James 2:19

"Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble."

There are MANY clear verses that salvation is by faith aloneJesus paid it ALL even after we are saved we will still sin until we die from this flesh. And that is why we are to be as little children.it is easy to be saved even a small child can be saved.

    TanyaRachel,

I also believe in eternal security, or as you put it, "Once saved, always saved."

Ephesians 1:14 would also add to the verse you have shared. It says, "Which (or who) is the earnest (or guarantee) of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

It's after we heard, after we believed, we were sealed. We are sealed with the Holy Spirit. He doesn't give us a seal. He is the seal.

He's the mark of ownership and He has sealed the believer so that no spiritual force or otherwise can penetrate their spirit. They've been sealed by the Holy Spirit and filled with the Spirit of Christ.

It's nice to know that in the midst of our weaknesses that the presence of God's Spirit is our guarantee, until the redemption of the purchased possession.

Since redemption means purchased, it is making reference to the coming of Christ, when our redemption will be realized.

We've been purchased and we're sitting at the will call window, so to speak. He hasn't picked us up yet. But when Christ comes, He's going to come for the purchased possession. That's every believer.

Ephesians 4:30 tells us that we are sealed with the Spirit of God "until" Christ comes.

So every believer is preserved. We're being kept for Christ at His coming. That's our guarantee that we are being preserved for Him.

We have eternal life in Christ Jesus. I have eternal life, not based on my human performance, but because Christ lives in me, and He is eternal.

It seems you gave a fine description of the ministry of the Holyspirit.

    TRUTH.

    He is reveals. John 16:13.

    He discerns. 1 Corinthians 2:14-15.

This is the work of God functioning in the inner man and displaying outwardly in believers.

" Worshipping in truth and in Spirit"

    John 4:23.

    Philippians 2:13.

I believe this takes denying ourselves and submission.

And when HE is present WE bares fruit.

This is practical, not a manifestation of the flesh. "Man doesn't WILL it to happen.

In fact as he matures I don't think he can keep it from happening.

Matthew 7:16-20. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

A GOOD TREE CANNOT BRING FORTH EVIL FRUIT, NEITHER CAN A CORRUPT TREE BRING FORTH GOOD FRUIT.

Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

I believe when we exhibit this spirit efficient fruit then we are able to exhibit our gift. (Christ) in us and we in him.

    Ephesians 4:11-15. And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

    That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

    God bless.

As Duncan has written, I can't recall any such situation that you've given here. Though in Ephesians 4:32 we read, "And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you."

Here, the thought is to show kindness, gentleness & compassion to one another, since we really don't understand or fully understand the trials that another person may be going through. We shouldn't think that a lack of a facial expression should definitely mean something is amiss. He might be working through some issue, lost a loved one, or even had a tooth pulled out that won't bring on a smile. So, we need to understand that there might be a good reason for a somber or sullen face & rather to tell him to 'get over it & smile a little', we would do better to get beside him & minister to him as he permits you & by the Lord's leading.

    Hi Giannis.

    Good questions.

The emphasis was on the motive in which we do things. " Examine ourselves to see if we are doing it by command. glory or Agape.

I believe what is important is the Heart behind every action.

The work and the heart behind the things we do that pleases God can only be achieved by the Holyspirit.

    Romans 8:7-9.

In my post I was asking WHAT IS OUR MOTIVE when we do the things we are asked NOT to do.

That's why a stated; "If we are supposed to be moved by the Spirit "by the instrument of faith" unto good works but yet we don't display good works, then our faith is vain/dead, Then is it fair to say that if we provide works THAT IS NOT BY THE INFLUENCE of the spirit that causes obedience to God's word, "then our work is vain."

    Here's an Scriptural example

    Matthew 6:1-8.

If our works confirms our faith and that work is tried by fire, it will stand. But if we perform a work we are asked NOT to do, What is the motive? Pride? And should we care?

If pride I believe we are building with wood hay and stubble. It will go up in smoke!

So the context in these posts isn't focused on the people in rebellion to God's instructions. It's focus is on those who seem content in their salvation when we should be concerned about the order mentioned in scripture that helps us grow so we don't become lukewarm.

Our attitude and trust in God's structure and instructions being profound or not to Grow "or perfect" the Church is on trial

Ephesians 4:11-16. seems to say he gave particular offices to particular people to Prosper the Church.

    Thanks and Goodnight.

The fact that you are feeling convictions that are causing doubt shows that the Holy Spirit is inside of you and working on you. Spiritually dead people do not worry about salvation. Only those whom are filled with the Holy Spirit have such thoughts. If your actions are grieving the Holy Spirit I recommend you be watchful of your convictions and turn from the things causing you to feel convicted. The Holy Spirit is trying to conform you to the image of Christ. Its not an overnight process its an ongoing battle against sin until you pass over into Heaven as Paul tells us in Romans chapter 7.

Romans 7:25 "I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin."

Ephesians 4:30 "And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption."
  • Giannis - In Reply - 2 years ago
No dear Baker, prophesing is not teaching. There are two types of prophets in New Testament.

    1. The gift of prophesing ( 1 Cor 12:7-11). A woman can have that gift and prophesy ( Acts 21:8-9). The gifts are given by the Holly Spirit. This gift has nothing to do with teaching, that is why in the next chapter ( 1 Cor 14:34) where Paul keeps talking about gifts, especially about speaking in tongues and prophesing, he forbids women to teach in the church. So prophesing has nothing to do with teaching (some churches have this specific belief).

    2. The ministry of prophet ( Ephesians 4:11), which is something different from the gift of prophesing described in Corinthians. In Acts 13:1-3 in the church there are both prophets and teachers, which means they are different ministries. All ministers, Apostles, Pastors, Evangelists, Teachers, Prophets(once more teachers and prophets are separate ministries) are males, we don't see any woman in that position in the Gospels. As written it is Jesus who appoints ministers in the church (not the Holly Spirit who gives the gifts). All ministers can teach in the church, as well. ( Acts 15:32).

THE STATE OF MAN AND UNCHANGEABLENESS OF GOD

Psalm 139:8 shows that God is everywhere; including in what was the abode of the dead; Sheol. Think for a minute what this implies. When we see what can only be taken as a literal story of Lazarus and the rich man we see two individuals clearly in a different state in the afterlife. In fact; the rich man is still there and will be until the Great White Throne Judgment.

The souls of the righteous; however are now present with the Lord ( Ephesians 4:8; 2 Cor. 5:6).

No longer are those who die in the Lord held captive by the Devil from the presence of God ( Hebrews 2:14-15). Only the rightous will actually see God; Psalm 11:6-7 illustrate this along with the fate of the wicked in hell in great detail. Even this life; in fact shows how one can be dead in trespasses and sins yet physically alive ( Ephesians 2:1). This will be the eternal state for the wicked in the lake of fire.

Our human minds cannot conceive how God does not change; and how He can be a God of mercy and grace yet render eternal judgment on the unregenerate; also those whose souls God created ( Ezekiel 18:4). Nonetheless; that verse illustrates how a father and son and blood relations are not relevant for determining the salvation of an individual. We see that in the book of Joshua with Gideon that God is for those who are on his side; whatever we percieve in our reality as the right or wrong sides. God brings good to those who love Him ( Romans 8:28). It is according to HIS PURPOSE that these things occur; the same holds true for the wicked as God has no joy in the death of the wicked ( Ezekiel 18:23) but grace is only available for repentance in THIS LIFE according to His terms.

One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, AND IN YOU ALL.

With so many scriptures like this given a would be confusing if there were no trinity.

The way you have explained it often is well represented by scripture.

    God bless you.

    Hi.

John 4:24 GOD IS A SPIRIT: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

    Ephesians 4:4-6 There is one body, and ONE SPIRIT, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;

"ONE LORD," one faith, ONE BAPTISM,

One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, AND IN YOU ALL.

Romans 8:11. ( BUT IF THE SPIRIT OF HIM ) that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, HE THAT RAISED UP CHRIST FROM THE DEAD shall also quicken your mortal bodies BY HIS SPIRIT that dwelleth in you.

1 Corinthians 15:45. And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; THE LAST ADAM WAS MADE A QUICKENING SPIRIT.

Acts 13:30. But God raised him from the dead:

Study these verses and you will see the trinity in who raised up Christ from the dead.

John 10:17. Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.

    God bless.

-Jesus is him that will judge the living and dead, we as Christians and humans in general we can not instruct God in any way even we don't even know our own hearts. as its written no one knows or gives counsel to God.

    Isaiah 40:13-14

(13 Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counsellor hath taught him?

14 With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?)

-God does according to his will, even our own breath is in his hands.

on 6 its written that jesus died and went to hell and perched the gospel, Pray and read the bible ask for understanding.

    Ephesians 4:8-10

8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?

10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

5.Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.

6 For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.

    7

But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

    Chris,

It is good that we agree on this, as I do not know Greek. I wasn't quite sure if I had learned it correctly and you have confirmed it for me.

Paul said that he who began a good work in us is faithful to complete it. ( Philippians 1:6) So our completeness comes from the working of God in our lives and in us by the Holy Spirit. Paul also says that he desires for us to grow up into the full measure of Christ. ( Ephesians 4:13).

These verses seem to imply this same view of being made complete, having progressed from conversion to maturity and, ultimately, readiness for heaven. I think that it is not so much a matter of our effort (though we do need to make choices to obey) but of being open, willing, and desirous of how the Spirit wills to work in us to bring us towards completeness.

On another angle, this makes me think that this perfection/completeness may be referring to God's plan coming to fullness, perfection, fruition, and, as you say, His foreordained end to His plan for creation, in us one by one, and in the whole church over the ages. There is a culmination of all things to come. That will be glorious.

    Sister Janice:

Do you understand what it means to produce after their own kind?

God said let us make man in our image.

God is Spirit, if we are (Re)created in his image, we also become Spirit (God, in a glorified body, just like Christ)

Psalms 82:6 For I have said, Ye are gods, the children of the most high.

Psalms 104:30 Thou sendeth forth thy Spirit, they are created, thou renewest the face of the earth.

John 3:6 ... that which is born of Spirit (God) is Spirit (God).

John 17:21 That they all may be one, as thou Father, art in me, and I IN THEM ....

Colossians 1:2 ...this mystery ....Christ IN YOU .....

Romans 8:29 ....predestinate to be conformed to the IMAGE of his Son ....

Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be IN YOU, which was also in Christ Jesus:

Philippians 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God.

Philippians 2:13 For it is God that worketh IN YOU both TO WILL and TO DO his good pleasure.

You must be born again: understand what awaits you when you leave this body of flesh.

1 Timothy 6:16 Who (Christ) only hath immortality, dwelling in the light ....

1 Corinthians 15:53 ...this mortal shall PUT ON immortality (Christ only hath immortality, we put on Christ).

1 Corinthians 15:28 ....that God may be ALL in ALL.

Ephesians 4:4 ....One Spirit (eternal life)......One Body (creation, that inherited eternal life)

    God bless you.

    Thanks Giannis.

I haven't been able to recap on any posts, But I do agree we are to operate in a structure,

    Paul elaborates on this.

    1 Timothy 2:8

    1 Timothy 3.

    Titus 2.

There is the universal spiritual Church and there's a place where we meet that is the Church building or field, ect ect. where we form a congregation. Paul gave instructions how we should function in those congregations "which is the church " And those congregations can be as little as 2!!

It can be done on zoom or a site the conduct remains the same.

What I was mentioning was God revealing truth through the Spirit and we receiving truth trough the spirit. "Devine Revelation" Also sanctification by the Spirit.

Now when we function as a group we function as the body with Christ being the head.

Diversity comes by lack of spiritual growth and also by tares amongst us.

Also there has always been leaven in our midst.

I believe a believer is best Identified by his fruit!

    Not his/her position,

NOT how busy they seem to be.

Not leadership "appointed or self appointed"

Not their ability at all but the fruit of the Spirit. And when we function it should be the body following the head.

    In this manner.

    Ephesians 4:1-12

The Church started off this way in Acts 2.

But soon tares and leaven started to creep in.

However we shouldn't be dismayed by the present condition because it was spoken of by several of the inspired authors.

On another hot topic that I personally pulled out of because of lack of interest and potential tension.

I will be posting hoping for replies on ones Millennium/end times view in detail.

For instance I've seen one reply where it was said there is no interval between the 69th week and the 70th week.

They believe in a literal Millennium and the rapture is at the end of the world during judgment. And they reference Matthew 24.

It's one thing to put your "stamp of approval" on ones viewpoints its another thing to explain your own.

    God bless you.

    Boniface Ugwu:

Spiritual transformation is coming to the truth of God's words. YOU ARE controlled by the Holy Spirit, transformation comes when you agree with God. THE WORD.

Philippians 2:13 For it is God (Christ in you) that worketh IN YOU (God's body) both TO WILL and TO DO his good pleasure.

Colossians 1:27 ....this mystery .....Christ in you ......

    John 14:6 I AM TRUTH ..... I AM LIFE .......

You are just the body of truth and life, and Christ is truth and life.

1 Corinthians 12:27 Now ye are the BODY OF CHRIST ....

Ephesians 4:4 One spirit (life eternal) .....One body (creation, you and I, where truth and life dwell).....

God Bless You (his body) with truth and life.
