Also, Exodus chapter 20 verses 8-11 tells us who is the creator and why it is important to take time out to glorify Him. Many today will be caught off guard because they are focused on the wrong things.
If we are led by the Spirit we are not under the law verse 18
If we are doing the works of the flesh verses 19 , 20, 21
You can not earn grace it's a gift . But Grace never breaks the laws . We cannot do as we please . If we are led by the spirit of God we do no sin .
Breaking of the law is sin .
As men we can sin by being led into error , or temptation and there is forgiveness, to be found Jesus is now in heaven and is faithful to foregive us our sins if we confess them !
Maddie, even though this Proverb may not seem relevant, I think it shows us that if we please the Lord by doing his Will & exuding Christ-likeness, then even our enemies will not be able to deny our position & of those who can rationalize this new behaviour, will confess that it is the Lord Who hath done this.
I'm sure your parents never thought ill of you, rather it was your desire to present yourself in the best light to them. What matters, as you say, is how God sees you - His precious child, & this is all that matters - He will take care of the rest - even using your life & words to testify of His goodness.
His times: after King Nebuchadnezzar's death & the eventual appointment of Belshazzar his son, Daniel fell from favour with the Babylonians, but was recalled back to interpret the writing that appeared at Belshazzar's feast (5:13). Daniel was also made one of three presidents under Darius (6:1-3). His ministry was to testify, through his personal life & prophecies, to God's Power. Though Israel was in exile, Daniel told them that God had not deserted them, & Daniel also revealed many details about God's Plan for them in the future. He also traced the course of the Gentile world powers from his own day right up to the second coming of Christ. Daniel wrote this prophecy in about the year 537 BC.
So even though we have instances of suicide, I don't believe the Bible ever talks specifically about it as being sin. Why we say that suicide is sin, is because by definition, it is self-murder & wilful murder in any form is sin. I know that one who contemplates suicide does so under very trying mental, emotional & physical conditions - a good friend of mine having taken his own life because of severe multiple sclerosis. I tried my best to encourage him & give him hope, but the pain & loss of movement was too much & made existence meaningless. Every avenue should be resorted to so that such a desperate person may receive help & counsel & most cities have a Lifeline phone number to assist.
A pastor truly led of the Spirit & so blessed to receive an observation or revelation from his congregant, should with all desire entertain such an occasion, knowing that his ministry is bearing fruit & his member(s) are using their times at home to more useful sacred purposes. Sadly, many pastors often only expect doctrinal or textual criticism & highlighting of their shortcomings at the end of the Lord's Day message. Your encouragement of him will also strengthen his resolve & add to his faith & walk in the Lord. Keep up the good work Andrew & the Lord bless you.
But these are my views only & based on my understanding of mankind's culpability because of sin within him & the non-culpability of the innocent child who has not sinned.
You need to determine in your heart & mind to leave them behind at the Cross & trust God for doing this & accepting you. Do you have a real sense of the Holy Spirit in you working in some ways to confirm the holy transaction that has been done? Or is this teaching of the Spirit still a mystery & an absence in your experience? Are you prepared to stand on God's Word, believing in what it says to you, or rather wanting your mind to believe & dwell on things that are past, that which was forgiven & forgotten? Sometimes the memory of our past sins can remain with us, but they shouldn't cause us to doubt God anymore, thus losing our joy & peace.
One also needs to be conscious of the lion that prowls, Satan, the enemy of God & of your soul. He not only blinds & deceives the world to disbelieve in God, but more so, attacks God's children in many ways. And one way is to create doubt (as he did with Adam & Eve) & fear. It may be that he is reaching out to you in this way to keep you bound, restless, & removing the peace that you should be enjoying. At those times at night, call out to your Heavenly Father, claim His promises to you & command the spirit of fear to depart. In your waking hours, stay alert by attending to the Word of God & prayer - Satan hates it when we do that & the Spirit of God will minister to you.
Romsns 8 .2
The law of the spirit ....
The spirit of God NEVER breaks the laws , but rather fulfills them or goes above them , but never contrary to them by doing what they forbid .
God said He would put His spirit within us so we could keep the laws , the flesh is weak and cannot keep the laws in general .
God looks upon our hearts , and tries them and knows them better than we do .
The heart is the very depth of our soul and spirit and mind .
If our mind is unsettled or restless we need to trust the Lord .
Yes the devil can condemn us in our thoughts and unsettle us if permitted to do so .
Get your heart right with God , it's the heart where all starts .
We can not do anything about the past unless we are able to right a wrong . For example if I stole a sweater from my neighbor I would return it , if that's impossible then that's understood by God . He knows everything. Confessions of sin sometimes requires righting a wrong .
I'm not saying this is your case but consider it .
If our heart condemn us not then we are good with God !
And we can then stand on the word , and trust in the name of the Lord Jesus ....
Back in the eighteen hundreds.
I have read of many famous Christian or said to be Christians . And GM impressed me the most by his testimony and Godly living . I highly recommend anyone looking into his life , much of it is available on line . God answered all his prayers large and small , he was a man of the Bible , he went to seminary and could speak 5 or more languages.
He stated that he could learn more reading the Bible being led by the Holy Spirit in a few hrs than a month in seminary .
A must read for any serious student , he shares his methods of prayer and reading the Bible , priceless knowledge, you will learn something, he was a Bible man . My kind of person !
A person that brakes a law can be forgiven in true repentance. But they can not continue in the sin because they are forgiven, that's just crazy , but some people's understanding of law is crazy too .
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. ( 2Corinthians 5:21)
John chapter 15 is a valuable resource for revival and renewal. In particular, our continually abiding in Jesus Christ will keep us from becoming withered branches.
The letter to the Ephesians gives us a glorious inventory of what we have been blessed with in Jesus Christ and how to make good use of our inheritance.
1 Peter chapter 1 shows us that by faith we can rejoice even in the heaviness put on us by manifold temptations.
Thank you
His own only, but another's welfare also.
People's Bible Notes for 1 Corinthians 10:24
Let no man seek his own. In asserting rights; consider the interests of others first.
Timothy Wayne George Comment: on 1 Corinthians 10:24 10 yrs ago
Let no man seek his own good but the good of his neighbor We should do all we can to make our neighbor wealthy by imparting some wisdom in life that will help him to get ahead The Lord will always bless you when you put the needs of your neighbor ahead of your own That is what the Lord requires of us to do justly love mercy and walk humbly before the Lord When we do this the Lord will reward us with many blessings more than we can hold.
Mishael, for us to read again
I was already Baptized by the Holy Spirit, but I went to a church to be baptized in water to show the spirits that were bothering me; that I belonged to Jesus forevermore. I wasn't ever going "back to Egypt". (Sin). It's not mandatory; But I felt really free of the past me, after I did it.
Some families really make a celebration when a family member is water baptised. It's a moment of joy that lasts forever.
I don't think I believe in baptizing infants. They get told all their lives that their salvation is a done deal; but they suffer lives of sinfulness, drugs, and more. Believing that all is fine with what they are doing. Some even commit suicide.
Just like me, you have to learn what it means to be born again into Christ and experience the Baptism of the Holy Spirit: who instantly comes inside to indwell the Temple of God inside of us. It's up to us not to grieve Him or to quench His Presence.
Jesus said you can curse me or even my Father; but DO NOT BLASPHEME the Holy Spirit! Of whom you are Sealed, unto the day of redemption. People can wantonly sin away their day of Grace. The Holy Spirit tried to pull us out of the fires of hell, but people do what is in their hearts.
If you are sitting on the Throne of your own heart, and worshipping Yourself, without any regard for other people... you may be self-deceived.
As my friends in Church say: get your business straight with God!!
We KNOW things aren't right between us and God. So turn around, and walk back to Your Father and REDEDICATE your life to Him! Before it's too late. Google a prayer of rededication and mean it this time. Get on your knees and put him on the throne of your heart.
He's coming back any day now! Be ready. Time is SHORT. All the signs are appearing as Jesus said in Matthew 24.
Mishael
I've never seen that before, but it happened today. :D
God bless you.
