Hello Maria. As you know, the letter was written by the Apostle Paul to the Christians at Ephesus. As Paul related the correct behaviour of children & fathers to each other (in verses 1-4), he also speaks to servants. The Greek word here is 'Douloi', which is correctly applied to 'slaves'. However, I think that word can also refer to bond-servants, or those in such employ working for their masters, in a voluntary or paid capacity. I'm unsure how prevalent such a strict slave/master position existed in those days, though I'm sure that there were those who were in such employ; remember Onesimus & Philemon, in the letter to Philemon?.

So, in Ephesians chapter 6:5-9, Paul is speaking to those who were in servitude to their masters & also he spoke to those masters who were believers - how both should behave one toward the other. You can also look at 1 Peter 2:18-21, for the Apostle Peter's similar dealing with this matter. So, these passages cannot apply to a husband/wife relationship, where the bond together in marriage is of a deep shared love, commitment & sacrifice, rather than of an eight hour paid employment situation.

So Paul instructs such servants to be obedient to their masters, giving them due honour & respect with all seriousness (fear & trembling), & with singleness of heart (i.e. with a heart & mind to give the best service you can) - as one would strive to fully obey & in work, for the Lord. And Peter gives us another view of this relationship: if the servant/slave is wrongfully treated or falsely accused, he should take the wrong even if he is innocent in the matter. So, yes, you need to obey your boss, giving him due respect & doing your work as best you can for him & the company. If he is 'worth his salt', he will notice your exemplary behaviour & likewise treat you fairly & reward you. As well, your Christian witness by your work ethics will speak volumes to him & others in his employ.

    If you will go to the SEARCH BOX ON THIS WEBSITE, and type in just the word CREATED;

The Search Engine will pull up all the verses in the whole Bible with CREATED in it. This includes Old and New Testament.

You will have a complete picture of Creation. Also, how it is explained in real time and future time; and everything in between.

In Genesis, Highlight all the places where it says What Day God blessed when He was Done. [ first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh. You will see the before, during, and after motions.

For some reason New Christians will start out in Book 1, chapter 1 and be disappointed by Day 7 of Creation.

All of us should start in the Gospels, then Acts, the writings of Paul and other Disciples of Jesus. For a blessing: the Book of Revelation.

Proverbs for Wisdom; Psalms for Comfort and Prayers of all kinds. The Prophets to understand past connected to future.

We're not trying to discourage you. We're trying to help you find what you are looking for.

John 3 Jesus shows Nicodemas that we all MUST BE BORN AGAIN, to see the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus baptizes us with THE HOLY SPIRIT, who is our Teacher on this earth. He reveals Jesus do we can understand.

We can chit chat all day long, but it is the Holy Spirit that reveals Jesus, and our Father, God. All of John 3, reveals who Jesus is to us; believers.

We're just being helpful, trying to. :)

Hi Jan This is a perfect example of carefully reading Gods Word Genesis 1:22 God made the beast it doesn't say create there. In Genesis 2: 5 is a continuation of explaining what God had done earlier in genesis 1:29+30. In Genesis 2:19+20 God is saying who he put in Charge of creation Adam and Eve would be there to help Him. That's why God brought all every beast of the field and fowl of the air to adam then adam with Gods spirit named all of them just think about how intelligent this man was. It was not normal human intellect. Prayerfully this Helps In His Service

Not sure about verse 5, calling upon servants to obey our masters of the flesh. I can relate if, for instance, the master is the husband & the wife is his servant and/or in relation to the Parent-Child relationship. I mean, I obey my boss at work, but not "with fear & trembling".

    Thoughts??

Hello, I'd like to respond to what you wrote: "when the order in which they created things is contradictory"

The order isn't contradictory. Is it possible you are intepreting it in a certain way where you perceive it to be contradictory? Because it's not contradictory when I read it, nor has it ever been.

You wrote: "it's not the validity of the Bible I dispute, but the interpretation of it."

I can only guess as to why would choose to interpret it a certain way that doesn't seem to line up. I know from past experience others made assumptions about how information is presented. For example, it's common in books to have a summary or thesis statement in the beginning then go into detail and explain it thereafter. Let's say you told me you were in a car wreck then said someone side swiped you. Then I respond by saying "What?! You were in 2 wrecks? You were in a car wreck THEN were side swiped, that's hard to believe. Be honest, were you in 1 or 2 wrecks?"

Is it possible that when you read in the begining God created the heavens and earth, etc that you didn't interpret that as a summary statement, but an event that happened and ended, then when it says God created Adam, that you assumed it was at a different time and not simply the same event explained in more detail?

    God bless...

IMKane The circumcision was under Judean law, children of Israel descendents of Abraham, the uncircumcision gentiles Pauls ministry.
  • Jesse - In Reply - 4 years ago
    IMKane,

It is the same gospel. The uncircumcision refers to the Gentiles, and the circumcision refers to the Jews. Peter was the apostle to the Jews, and Paul was the apostle to the Gentiles. But they both preached the same gospel.
  • Ronald L Whittemore - In Reply on Revelation 22 - 4 years ago
    Hey Jan,

The Bible does not contradict itself; the traditions of men do. When we read with all those preconceived ideas and traditions, we cannot hear the Holy Spirit of truth. I am sure the word just popped out telling you this does not match. Jesus busted the Pharisees, ( Mark 7:4-9), traditions are of man. The tradition of Adam and Eve being the first humans is a tradition.

I am not of the group of a world before this one and it was destroyed, but you are correct the six days do not line up with the second chapter with Adam and Eve. The purpose of Adam is what gets lost, was it to start humankind or the start of the plan of our salvation, being the first Adam and Jesus the last Adam to undo the works of Satan. Due to the flood, we are all descendants of Adam.

Things to look at, the word earth, h-'-re #776 meaning earth, land, countries. And field, the word field ( ha--eh). Strongs #7704 meaning; field, land, agriculture. All the plants in day three were self-producing no cultivation needed. Second chapter it had not rained because there was not a man to till the ground. These were plants of the field, you must plant and till a garden or it will not grow, (husbandry).

The animals in chapter two were of the field (domesticated), the fowls were out of the ground (domesticated) not out of the water as day five. This clearly is another creation and one would have to deny or ignore what scripture clearly says to fit a tradition.

Man, male and female in day six were told be fruitful, multiply and replenish (to fill) the earth, subdue it and have dominion over all thee earth that God had created. Adam and Eve were in the garden, could they do what was told man in day six? No. If we say it was after they were cast out of the garden could God say at the end of day six all was very good? No. Adam and Eve sinned and they did not multiply until they were cast out of the garden.

I know this is not a lot of info but may it help.

IMKane Everything that God accomplished by Jesus Christ is the gospel or good news, Peter the apostle was called of God to preach the Good news of what Jesus Christ accomplished to the Judeans or Israel Headquartered in Jerusalem. Paul was called by Jesus Christ to go preach and evangelize the gentiles the gospel or Good news.

In galatians He was explaining Himself to the galatians because they were being talked out of there deliverance in Christ. When Paul went to Jerusalem he had to go up against Judeans who were born again but still walking under the old legalism of Judean law.

They could not understand that Christ made them free from all the laws of the old testament and to walk by the spirit where the law is Love. Everyplace Paul taught the legalism boys followed right behind to talk people out of the freedom in Christ Jesus by faith. Thank God Paul got called because He listened and received the Revelation of the Mystery of the one Body of Jews and Gentiles the Church of God. To this day most believers don't understand there freedom in Christ Jesus by faith. In His Service

  • WHO GOD SENDS HIS DISCIPLES TO - In Reply - 4 years ago
Jesus was sent to the Jews first. As he said to the woman who said: even the dogs eat the scraps that fall from the table.

    The 12 Disciples followed Jesus.

After Jesus ascended to Heaven, the Disciples went to the upper room to wait for the Day of Pentecost.

After they received the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, they were now anointed to minister to Jews and Gentiles.

Paul was sent, to the Gentiles. He had the background to understand all cultures he would encounter in his ministry. At times some of Jesus's original disciples traveled with Paul. Jews, Romans and Gentiles etc were being born again.

No matter how modern organized religion attempts to separate and confine Jesus's Church; the Church will survive and thrive. There are missionaries all over this globe. Pray for them.

Satellite TV is even used to spread the anointed gospel to every place on earth. God will not be confined to mankind's dictates on what He can and cannot do. If we wanted to help buy a receiver for a poor village, that would surely be blessed.

This comment room exists to equip and grow up believers sent to the highways and byways (remote places). God does the anointing. He's using this format.

If we become ICABOD due to excessive arguing and mixed up interpretations and attaching our own spin on scriptures:

That's why we check our stuff against Commentaries. The Holy Spirit will peel off the flesh. As in, the Bema Seat which will burn up all the wood, hay and stubble.

Teachers are held to a greater accountability. That's why we must keep the Holy Spirits presence in our prayer life and ministry.

May the Lord bless and keep us close to His vest. May we be ready to be sent. Pray, Pray, Pray.

When Elisha picked up Elijahs coat off the ground, what did he do with it?

    Hang it in a closet?

    Donate it to a museum?

He picked it up, smote the water and walked over to the other side. He knew it was The Anointing of God. Do we know that?

Did you notice that the Tree of Life, and the Ark of The Covenant we're moved to Heaven; in the Book of Revelation ?

All this searching for it and false finds stories are false. The Ark will be used again in the Battle of Armageddon.

My guess is the Antichrist thinks he has a weapon that will destroy the Ark, and the Lamb of God who will come to earth to destroy him and his armies (as prophesied in Scripture).

Believe in the Scriptures. Not movies or books written by mankind.

Isaiah is speaking out a prophesy about Messiah to come. He is speaking the names of Jesus. So Isaiah is hearing this through the Holy Spirit.

Every single Old Testament prophesy, will have a New Testament scripture of when that prophesy was fulfilled; or is yet to be fulfilled.

That's why STUDY BIBLES/REFERENCE EDITIONS are so helpful. The OT will show the reference to the NT when the prophesy was fulfilled, or is yet to be fulfilled.

There are PROPHESY CHARTS on Google you can look at. EITHER Old Testament, or the New Testament.

You can save those to your Google Desktop for speedier access. The square symbol with an arrow pointing up.
  • Studying Bible with the Holy Spirit - In Reply on Revelation 22 - 4 years ago
In my own experience with it, I noticed that the days of creation are laid out in a couple of chapters; then creation proceeds with a different view and then it goes backward and adds more to that place it seemed to stop.

Some passages are easier to study if you have a KJV Bible WITH CENTER OF EACH PAGE, REFERENCE COLUMNS. It has the tiny alphabet letters that references From a scripture to additional information, or to a prophesy. Sometimes the prophesies point to New Testament confirmations that a prophesy was fulfilled. So paper and pen are needed for deeper studying.

This website has a really good Search Engine. You put in words you recall that's in a scripture you're searching for, and it will go fetch anything with that word in King James Version.

Example: People will put in 'Rapture', but the KJV calls it 'Caught Up'.

The best thing I learned was you can't speed read through the Bible. You learn a lot from who is in a Geneology. Often the daughters are not recorded; but the ones that are mentioned are probably in a story elsewhere. That's why the Reference Bible I mentioned is helpful. You have to be sure your are ordering CENTER OF EACH PAGE REFERENCE COLUMN.

That's how I found out that Judas was in a prophesy in Psalms, that he would betray Jesus which means it was recorded hundreds of years before it happened.

There are charts in Google of Just Old Testament Prophesies with the dates of fulfillment. Same for the New Testament. You might want to save those to Reading List or google desktop for easy access.

Occasionally I find really good condition Reference Bibles at Goodwill. I found a brand new smelling Strongs Complete Concordance :D

Hi Jan The things your asking in Genesis is Gods design and in His order its either believed or not, the other question about God or lord God. Yes there is a difference depending on context of usage, two examples in Genesis 12:1 the word lord is yahweh which means He who Is, in Genesis 17: 1 the lord appeared to abraham and said I am the Almighty God translated from El Shaddai and said walk before me and be thou perfect. This is just one example that you can look up yourself. There is also Jehovah which means God in relationship to his creative works. It is a very inspiring study to get into you can find the info in strongs concordance or young's analytical concordance. Have fun Its Very eye opening.
