    I meant 1 Thess 4:13-18.
  • Giannis - In Reply - 3 years ago
    Hello Earl

Paul in his first epistle to Thessalonians ( 1 Thess 4:13-8) trying to comfort believers who have lost their loved ones, is refering to the end times when Jesus is coming back and the dead in Christ will be resurrected and be unitied with them again. In verse 4:15 ("For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that WE WHICH ARE ALIVE and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep") Paul leaves the impression that he himself will be alive at that time. So Thessalonians seemed to have believed that that time is coming very soon, during their lifetime. So Paul writes a second letter and puts things in the right order. He says to them that that time will not be soon because many other events have to precede, like the falling away, the appearance of the antichrist, Him who hinders him to appear etc. So Paul in his letter has no intention to speak particularly about the antichrist but includes him in the series of events of the end times.

Now what is that falling away or apostasy? There are many theories like the ones I wrote and many other. I believe it is the apostasy of the christian world from the faith, but it may be the apostasy of christian churches from the truth of the Gospel or both of them.

Now if I have understood well you believe in the "Jesus only" theory, that says God is one person who sometimes appear as Father, other times as Son or Holly Spirit? Or I got you wrong? Personally I believe in the triune nature of God, one God but three distinctive Persons.

    Earl,

I agree and now it's accelerating more then previous time. and the king is coming the king is coming

    Amen.

The answer is in verse 1 , Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him.

Its the day Christ returns , and our gathering unto him that shall not come until the man of sin be revealed . We should all be looking out for the one antichrist . I wonder if he is here now but just in hiding ?

I looked up the word beseech and it means I beg you or I implore you .

This is how I perceive the text , be blessed

    Duncan:

All the things in Matthew 24 have been taking place since Christ, in the flesh, departed this earth and 45 days latter came the second time as the Holy Ghost.

Ecclesiastes 1:9 The thing that has been, it is that which shall be, and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.

The last days have been since Christ, still going 2000 years latter: and the LAST DAYS will continue till all things have been put under his feet.

Hebrews 1:2 Hath in these LAST DAYS spoken to us by his Son ...

Genesis 49:1 .....that I may tell you what shall befall you in the LAST DAYS.

Micah 4:1 But in the LAST DAYS it shall come to pass, (this was fulfilled at Christ's resurrection) that the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills, and people shall flow into it.

1 Corinthians 15:28 And when all things shall be subdued to him, then shall the Son also himself be subject to him who put all things under him, that GOD MAY BE ALL IN ALL.

1 Corinthians 15:24 Then cometh the end (to Jacob's troubles), when he shall have DELIVERED UP THE KINGDOM TO GOD, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule, and all authority and power.

    God Bless You!

    Hi Legends.

I agree with Gigi. The Holyspirit has no beginning.

Here's a mention of his work in the Old Testament.

1 Peter 1:9-12. Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:

Searching what, or what manner of time THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST, ""WHICH WAS IN THEM"" DID SIGNIFY WHEN IT TESTIFIED BEFOREHAND THE SUFFERINGS OF CHRIST, AND THE GLORY THAT SHOULD FOLLOW.

Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven, which things the angels desire to look into.

It was ""CHRIST SPIRIT"" in the prophets that testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glory that should follow!

NOW TAKE A LOOK AT THIS NEXT SCRIPTURE.

1 Corinthians 2:9-12. But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

""BUT GOD HATH REVEALED THEM UNTO US BY HIS SPIRIT "": for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

    Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, ""BUT THE SPIRIT WHICH IS OF GOD"";

( that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.)

When we put this together not only do you see the working of the spirit revealing Christ to come in the Old Testament, but you also see the trinity on display.

    God bless.

(To all that read repent and seek the lord )

Today in the world we have people calling themselves Christians but are not believers and this are people who go to church get 3 hours of worship (entertainment) and 1hour of which half is announcement the the other half is how God love you

when they get home they don't open their bible and any free time they have they spend wasting on tv and phone social medial, prayers are hard to make before the living God

and so they are living on Crumbs and depending on the pastors to help with bible the Living word )

So Saturn is not afraid of uncommitted Christian But one who does not love his life unto the End

That's what Jesus is saying In Matthew

    Revelation 12:11

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

I would encourage you to knee down and repent your sins before the lord, the sins of jealously the sins of anger and ask God to show you any hidden sins in your life and repent anything he will show you

I want you to understand the wicked have no rest because they have unrepeated sins hence they try all they can to find rest

and ask God to remove this spirit of anger in your heart.

    as it is written

    Isaiah 57:20

20 But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.

21 There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.

    Read this word

    Psalms 18:6

In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.

    Pray for an

    Ezekiel 36:26

What do we fall away from, so he can be revealed?

Please read Matthew 24( the last days)

The days of the falling away

is now being manifest to our own eyes, men that used to walk with God are tuning to the world and its lust

Preachers are perching not in faith but out greed and fame, Churches have became a social gathering and dens of thief rather than

a house of worship and the teaching that is coming out of churches is from the doctrines of demons

and Instead of preaching repentance the posters and preachers are twisting the word to get more people and prosperity gospel

Hello . I'm thinking that the reason that no one has answered your question yet might be because not everyone reads Ecclesiasticus because it's part of the apocrypha . Not everyone reads the apocrypha , so you might have to wait a little while to get your answer but I'm sure someone will respond eventually .

    Dear Legends,

Yes, the Holy Spirit has always existed with the Father and the Son in a what the Scriptures call the Godhead.

In Genesis 1:2 it says that the Spirit was hovering over the face of the earth when it was void and unformed.

In Exodus 35:31 It says that God filled Bezalel with the Spirit to enable him to supervise the building of all the furnishings for the tabernacle. Numbers 11:17 speaks of the Spirit being upon Moses and of God causing the Spirit to also be upon the elders to help Moses with manage the affairs of the people. Ezekiel 2:2 speaks of God calling Ezekiel as a prophet and putting His Spirit in Ezekiel when God spoke to Him.

These are just a few of the many references to the Spirit and His work in the O.T. prior to the Son of God becoming flesh as Jesus. In the Genesis verse, it shows that the Spirit predated the creation of the world, which tells us that He was alive prior and participated in creation along with the Father and the Son (the Word). Prior to creation, only God existed, but He exists as the Father, the Son (Word who became flesh as Jesus) and the Holy Spirit, not as three Gods, but as three Persons in One God (As Scripture makes it very clear that God is One and the Only God in existence.

    Brother Giannis:

Do you believe Paul wrote this letter to the Thessalonians to warn them about a singular antichrist? or were they falling away from the truth first preached to them about being born again by the word of God, the coming of the Lord to them by the indwelling of the WORD himself?

    God Bless You!
  • Earl Bowman - In Reply - 3 years ago
    Jacqui:

I believe you are right, we fall away from deception, so we can be BORN AGAIN by the word of God, TRUTH.

    2 Thessalonians 2:3 Let no may deceive you by any means, for THAT DAY (being born again, the day of the Lord, Christ in you) shall not come, except there come a falling away (from deception) first, and that man of sin (OURSELVES) be revealed, the son of prediction;

There is a phrase I heard while travelling: "Same, but Different"

This might explain the seemingly paradoxical relationship of the trinity or Godhead. Exactly how much the same are they and exactly how different are they? We don't know, we're only humans with limited capacity to comprehend this and no Earthly experience with this relationship. We only know what God's word says...

    1 John 5:7

"For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."

John 10:30 I and my Father are one.

1 Kings 8:60 That all the people of the earth may know that the LORD is God, and that there is none else.

John 1:1-2 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Mark 12:29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:

Isaiah 44:6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

Matthew 10:33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

    Isaiah 9:6

    John 10:38

"...the Father is in me, and I in him."

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

    1 John 5:20

"And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life."

    Acts 17:29

"Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or sto

Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Sory but I made a terrible typing mistake. When I wrote this sentence "The protestants said it was the Pope, the catholics said it was Luther, the ortodoxes said it was all the others, many christians said it was Mohamed, and so on, everybody attributed that lovely(sarcastic!) title to their dearest enemy" I was refering to the title of antichrist, not the one who hinders him to appear

  • Richard H Priday on Psalms 30 - 3 years ago
In Psalm 30 we see a situation much like the story of Jonah chapter 2 where he was said to have descended to the lower parts of the earth and finally gave thanksgiving and was released in verse 9. I tend to hold with the minority position that he really died and went to Sheol taking a literal description of the passage. Here in Psalm 30; David clearly was near death either physically or in the state of constant pursuit by his enemies such as with Saul. Unlike Jonah; however there was dancing and praise that seemed to outlive the immediate time of this crisis.

    (last 2 verses 11 and 12).

Verses 5 and 6 give us some clues as to David's attitude maintaining a proper perspective; he understood God's holiness (v 4) and the eternal perspective (v. 5). Verse 11 shows how David sought God with sackcloth; and recognized the strength and importance of God's favor (v. 7). This could have related to his experience after the sin with Bathsheeba and losing his son; or the time he foolishly took the census when Satan was allowed to tempt him.

These verses should lead us to seeking the Lord at all times; and not waiting until a life or death matter. If we are not of the faith; we need to seek Him while He can yet be found ( Isaiah 55:6). He may not give us time at our deathbed if it happens in an instant to repent if we are a nonbeliever; and as a believer we forfeit our rewards in heaven if we are not putting Him first and dying to self daily. We should also study Job carefully and not make the error he did not being aware of Satan's schemes; but not blaming the enemy of our souls for all our problems as sin is the means of entry for him to work. Praising God in all circumstances is in order; and in the flesh many times we don't feel like it. We need to be emptied of ourselves and consider His attributes as all other things in life are temporal and fleeting as verse 5 shows.

I think the falling away is falling away from the Truth as it is expressed in the Bible . Paul and Peter talk about ' cunningly devised fables ' which imply that they are created deliberately to deceive , or Jewish fables . These Jewish fables I think are very important because that must mean that they existed in Christ's lifetime and Christ himself would have had to have been aware of them and maybe even trying to refute them and we could be reading about some of that in the Gospel accounts . Reference are : 1st Tim 1 : 4 , 1st Tim 4 : 7 , 2nd Tim 4 : 4 , Titus 1 : 14 and 2nd Peter 1 : 16 .

    Hello Earl

    Part 1

In verse 1 says "Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,".So that day is the day that Jesus comes.

But there are 2 theories about that day depending on what one believe, the pre or the post tribulation rapture.

    1. If the pre-trib theory is right (which is my belief too) then that day is the rapture of the saints when Jesus comes not on earth but in the air and then takes His church away. Then the 7 year rule of antichrist on earth starts.

    2. If the post-trib theory is right then that day is the second coming of Jesus on earth after the battle at Armagedon at the end of the tribulation and the rule of antichrist on earth

    3. There is also a third theory that says that that day is the rapture which will take place in the midst of the 7 year period of antichrist's ruling and then the tribulation starts for the remaining 3 1/2 years.

The "falling away" or as it is written in the greek text the "apostasy" is considered by most the apostasy of the christian world from the faith which we see in our days taking place during the last decades. I don't know where you live in, but Europe which in the past was a christendom, now have turned completely atheist. Christians are considered as old fashioned fanatics who hinder the modern world's progress (to where???). Others think that the apostasy refers to a united world religion that tries to compromise all religions together, a world system which will actually be far from christian beliefs.

The "man of sin" is usually called the "antichrist". The word antichrist is not written in the Revelation but John mentions it in his first epistle. Anyway it is just a name, it means the opposite of Christ or somone who is against Christ. Many of those have existed through the centuaries but the main one will come at the end and will rule on the whole world. After the apostasy of the christian world he will make his appearance on earth.
