alex1939..Hi Gerald..I enjoy reading your post... Numbers 14:31-...God told Israel your LITTLE ONES who you said will be a prey them will i bring into the land.

....This is a beautiful Picture of Salvation under the New Covenant...Where we must be bornagain of an incorruptible seed giving birth to the babes and sucklings in our hearts...Our new innerman, Our new hearts and new Spirits...Unless you receive the Kingdom of God ( the Promise land ) as a lil child you will in no wise enter there in...Our New Hearts and spirits is the H.G. the Children of PROMISE that resulted from his death... Zech 13:7..Smite the shepherd and the sheep will be scattered then i will turn my hand to the little ones...The babes and Sucklings which are spirits the H.G. that are gonna be as the stars of heaven in multitudes...That was the great Promise that Christ wd be multiplied as the stars of heaven...Thats y Jesus refers to the H.G as the promise he is the multiplication of Jesus/God...God swore by his very self when he made that Promise...Thus the babes and sucklings are Spirits the H.G...A number no man can number...Is what John saw standing before the throne in white raiment..But these things are hid from the wise and prudent but revealed unto babes....Unless you receive the Kingdom of God as a lil Child you will in no wise enter there in... Numbers 14:31 The little ones that you said wd be a prey them will i bring in...k lemme go

I fear the church has reduced the salvation of God to simply being BORN again.

In truth if we are found before God spotless in the Bride adorned we are still ' saved ' and will be through all ages .

But for now we have been delivered from the power of sin ( the law) and the consequences of sin (eternal separation from God )

    The second death .

But then from the very presence of sin .

We were not only saved From we are also saved unto God .

To get out of Egypt by the Word of God ( to Abraham) the blood of a lamb and by the Power of God ( in a day) .

Is to be Born again ,a no people becoming a people .

But we are saved for a purpose it is not to wander in the wilderness .

If you took the word Salvation we have but touched the S of our salvation .

It is as some hardy sailors having landed on some great continent where the weather is perfect the surroundings beautiful and the tree line containing all we might need and we have sat down and built our camp there and at at ' peace'. Not knowing that behind that tree line is a great continent ,full of so much more .

While you must be ' persuaded' to exercise your faith the true definition of what faith IS is found in Hebrews11.

" Now faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things as yet unseen "

' Man has the right to life'

An absurd assertion now made wicked by putting it on the statute books .

But which denies the very simple truth " That a man's life is in his nostrils".

Who has no more ' right' to that breath than any he has received before it or how many he might after .

It is a gift of God .

No man can unlawfully take the life of another , A judicious death penalty for crimes worthy of death is not murder .

But if you take a deep breath and hold it ,that's yours and what you or I say or do with it we can .

Though there are always consequences .some eternal.

But while you are holding your breath wondering what to say or do ,consider when if ever you had to work or labour ( unless Ill) for any breath? When did you ever earn it? Or deserve it ? Never . It is a gift of God .

In truth everyone is in some small measure in a love debt to their mother who while not giving life worked very hard and laboured so that you and I might take or receive that first breath .

We are all then in a love debt to our mothers .

How much more then are all men in a love debt to God ?

Each breath proving just how good He is ,patient ,long suffering not willing that any should perish but that all should come to a knowledge of the truth .

For man curses God and man and by his very life denies the existence of God .

Stripped of all its vain glory and empty promise it basically says ' No matter what evil I do no evil will come'

Or is like a man sitting on a very small branch of a very great tree and he is sawing it off and saying this is mine!

While no doubt you were referring to something else . It is worth noting that Hod himself instituted the death penalty under the Law .

There is more to this than meets the eye ,I think .

It might surprise you to learn that there are no denominations in heaven we have but one book one faith one baptism one Lord .

The denominations arose since the reformation not because each sound doctrine they taught was wrong ,but rather like Peter thought there revelation and understanding was the be all and end all . He going so far as to contradict the Lord who began to give more light which in Peters thinking did not fit . A warning then . For the Lord had to give him a severe rebuke " get behind me Satan for you.." not many would accept such a reproof . But shows clearly he was not infallible nor THE Rock upon which the eternal church of God is built upon.

But each denomination like Noah's generation thought this is a nice place let us build us a tower and a name for ourselves etc. and stayed where they were put instead of going out into all the world .

Each defending their patch to the death but rejecting the whole truth .

You don't say what denomination you ' married into' but as long as it is not heretical and teaching false doctrine then find a church that believes in the " whole council of God".

The 5 wise and the 5 foolish virgins .

The church of which I am a part has made this teaching of the Lord as nothing to do with the church . But in the main says the 5 foolish virgins are the unsaved and the 5 wise the saved .While it can be used in a very limited sense perhaps as a message to the unsaved ,it is primarily directed at the church .

For a virgin by the very nature of things is a God given state .

Paul also speaking of " presenting the church as a chaste bride "

To the unsaved and under the law as in Romans he speaks of those married .

The 10 virgins then refers to the church .

It can be noted that in all aspects save one they are the same .

    10 virgins.

All have their lamps lit . The unsaved have no lamps lit for they walk in darkness.

All are waiting for the groom . The world has no interest in the return of the Lord .

All fall asleep . Did not the Lord warn the disciples to watch and pray ? For while the spirit is willing the flesh is weak and apt to overrule . They slept and were unable to face the challenge ahead . The Lord stayed awake and prayed ensuring His flesh would not prevail ( and he die).

All heard the cry " the bride groom comes!". The world will not see Him come nor have ears to hear the cry " come up hither".

All woke up and trimmed their lamps .

The division between the wise and foolish was that the wise had their vessels full of oil and the foolish were unprepared and their vessels empty .

While they were away presumably to get some oil (?) the groom came and the 5 wise entered into the " MARRIAGE".

The 5 foolish heard " I do not know you" they were barred from the marriage .

The wicked on the day of judgement will hear " I never knew you" and are barred from the kingdom .

    Two quite different things .

Not only do we need to be BORN again we also need to be continually filled with the Holy Spirit . It's not an option.

The Bible is in many ways like a jigsaw puzzle . Not everything is laid out as you might think .

No matter what the size of the puzzle be it 500 or 5000 the wisest course is to get the side pieces and corners first . On two grounds . No matter how big the puzzle and I've seen one the size of a rug . The most easily identifiable and quickest to put together are the side pieces and corners . Once they are in place you know there is nothing outside of the framework and all go in place within it . They are the milk of the Word ,

How you proceed after that depends on your diligence and patience .

I wouod suggest however it is usual for the earth bits are done first and the sky in the main done last .

Taking the analogy further ,perhaps because we know more of earth in the beginning than we do of heaven?

I have found the Biblevto be the most thought provoking book in the world and has more answers than any man has questions .( real questions that is)

It is not speculation then nor is it an idle question.

For clearly the first time they reached the river Jordon having left Egypt did not take 40 years !

That only occurred when they were barred from entering because of their unbelief .

How long it took the first time can therefore be calculated when you put all the pieces together .

My point was and is that the church of which I am thank God a part has made the wandering in the wilderness the Christian norm and heaven the promised land .
  • Gerald - In Reply - 3 years ago
Have you considered how many pairs of eyes you have? So to speak.
  • Gerald - In Reply - 3 years ago
The two years odd can be calculated from the account of them leaving Egypt . 3 months of which was spent at mount Sinai .

My point is that the church has made the promised land heaven and Jordon death .

And that we have made the wandering in the wilderness for 40 years the Christian norm .

Getting out of Egypt was but being born again . And the crossing of the wilderness ,boot camp .

Where civilians are changed into soldiers so to speak.

Is it not written that the bride of Christ is to " come out of the wilderness terrible as an army with banners leaning upon her beloved"?

The bride must get herself ready boot camp is over .

I will spend some time with the reply to your comment.

But what I will say now is when man is created in the image of God, and we are now before the fall of man, he is a reflection of God, and God contains all, so therefor is mans dual nature a reflection of his true nature which is nondual like God he is content.

To be an image of God, means to reflect the nature of God, and the nature is in this world but not of this world. Man is created eternal because he is an image of God and God is eternal. Therefor the LORD tells us to not identify anyone in the world as our father for our Father is in heaven.

Since we are created in the image of God we do contain also the opposite sex in our spititual nature.

You most certainly were , thank you . This site is very precious and helpful to me as I am in isolation. I married out of my denomination , therefore I am not permitted to fellowship at my church , so this site is my only source of contact with other Christians . I appreciate you and everyone on here .
  • Chris - In Reply - 3 years ago
Thanks for that clarification Gerald. I was concerned & confused that the forty years of desert wanderings turned out to only be two years and I couldn't find anything to support that figure. Indeed, some will enter into God's rest, but many today, including most of the children of Israel at that time, failed to do so, because of their unbelief ( Hebrews 3:7-4:6).

    Hello Jesse,

I was wondering what you mean by saying Jesus emptied Himself in this Philippians verse.

I do not think that Jesus set aside any of His deity in the incarnation, nor did He empty Himself of any of His divine attributes. But He continued to possess them all but chose not to express them through most of His earthly life. He lived as a man would live, but it was God living out an incarnated manhood.

I do think that in taking on human nature, His glory was veiled, but I do not think He emptied anything of His deity out of Himself during His earthly life just as He did not empty Himself of His humanity when He resurrected and ascended.

So, I would be be interested in hour explanation of Jesus emptying Himself in becoming man, since God cannot never change (be more or less divine than He truly is.

The generation who came out of Egypt did indeed wander in the wilderness for 40 years and all but two out of two million plus perished in the wilderness .

Paul warns the church and every believer not to be like them " who entered not in because of unbelief".

It is worth noting that they did no work of God till they crossed Jordan .

The servant of Elijah did no work of God till he crossed Jordon .nor did the Lord himself till he crossed Jordon in baptism.

We rob ourselves or allow the devil to rob us when we believe the flesh rather than the Word of God .

For the ten spies saw the same things as the two faithful spies . But had forgotten what God had already done ,who it was who was with them and what he had promised for the future . They did not walk by faith ( in God) but by sight and a carnal mind and said we cannot go in .

The two faithful spies ,Joshua and Caleb saw the same things but in the true light of Gods presence power and provision and said we can .

Unbelief is not just not believing God it is believing another and wrong message.

So it was also with Eve.
  • Gerald - In Reply - 3 years ago
As regards to the flesh and the Spirit .

What do you say then to the scriptures :-

"If we walk after the spirit we will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh "?

Or " Let not sin reign in your mortal flesh"?

For if sin reigns and rules you will obey .

If Christ reigns and rules you will obey Him.

What do you say to John in his first epistle that if we are children of God " We will not sin"?

The emphasis is on not sinning , bit IF we sin we have an advocate with the zFather .

Paul expressed the battle between the flesh and the spirit and we too often focus on that but forget the " thanks be unto God who gives us the victory".

Is it not also written " They that are His have crucified the flesh with the lusts thereof"?

Too much 'humility ' is not a good thing .

Nor if truly humble can you at the same time be arrogant .

Indeed how can any man be arrogant if he truly has any lively knowledge of God?

    Hi Brother Jesse.

Here's the word generations in Hebrew pulled from Genesis 5:1.

    Hebrew:

    Transliteration: tledh tledh

    Pronunciation: {to-led-aw'} to-led-aw'

Definition: From H3205; (plural only) {descent} that {is} family; (figuratively) history: - {birth} generations.

And here it is in greek.

    Greek:

    Transliteration: genea

    Pronunciation: ghen-eh-ah'

Definition: From (a presumed derivative of) G1085; a generation; by implication an age (the period or the persons): - age generation nation time.

    (The period of the persons.)

    I didn't see that!

I always took it as the age of ALL those living at that time.

But the time period for the Jews does fit the context of the Chapter.

And it fits the view that the main focus of this period is on Israel.

    Hi Giannis.

I said I would come back to John 21:15-19.

You said "the first two times He/Jesus uses the verb "philo" whereas the third time He uses the verb "agapo".

    I have it different.

Jesus asked Peter the first 2 times Simon son of Jonas "Agape thou me". And peter responded yes Lord thou knowest that I "phile thee both times.

The third time Jesus asks Simon son of Jonas phile thou me.

" He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, phile thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I phile thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep."

I don't believe Peter was grieved because Jesus asked Peter three times because Peter denied Jesus 3 times as some do.

I believe Peter was grieved because Jesus used phile the third time coming down to Peters ability express his Love.
  • S Spencer - In Reply - 3 years ago
    Hi Giannis.

    Well that explains it.

Your reply is based off the assumption that I've seen that commercial. Sorry but I've haven't seen it.

You mentioned "Philia" means "friendship", "storge" means "affection", "eros" means "in love", "agape" means "love" in grk.

    End quote.

That is also the way I define them..

However I wasn't defining them in my post, I was applying them and Identifying the source behind them in the English translated from the Greek.

You said Philia, storge, eros is not used for Love In modern grk only agape is used for "love". End quote.

Ok, well that's in the Greek, but in English all these words is translated Love, as you also acknowledged in John 21:15-19. "I will come back to that."

You went on to define agape and stated its used for man and also for God. I agree with that!

We see it used that way here in John 3:19.

( Men Love/agape darkness rather than light ) Men was totally given over to darkness unconditionally. That describes Love/Agape as a condition.

The shift is once saved and given the Holyspirit that love is unconditionally given over to light and the ability to "Love your brothern as I have loved you" as Jesus commanded.

" It's as you stated WE NEED GOD'S SPIRIT (to have the fruit of love and increase in it) and grace to grow in love. How far one rises in that scale is due to one's decision to go for it, using God's grace which is available to all believers."

The Love "FOR THE BROTHERN" I believe that is Gods spirit that CAUSES that! 1 John 4:21 And this commandment have we from him, That HE WHO LOVETH GOD LOVE HIS BROTHER ALSO.

I'm not defining Agape as define love. I'm identifying the source and the define power giving us the ability to perform Gods Love to one another.

We can't do it on our own. Men Love darkness.

    GBU.

Thank you Gerald, I do enjoy reading your various posts. But just on the matter of, "How long did it take for the children of Isreal to go from Egypt to the promised land? I would hazard the thought that most if not all will say 40 years .I too once thought so", how do you understand Numbers 14:26-34, particularly verses 33 & 34. Is the mention of forty years only figurative?
  • Jesse - In Reply on Revelation 20 - 3 years ago
    Armand,

I will try my best to answer who it is Satan will seduce once he is released for a short time after the 1,000 year reign. First let me say this. It won't be believers.

So, Satan will be bound for a thousand years. He will be cast into the bottomless pit, the ABUSSO, and shut up, a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more.

And after these things, it is necessary for him to be loosed for a short season.

So after the thousand years, we leave with Christ. And the people on the earth who are left over from the tribulation, who still are not saved, but they've been given this one thousand year opportunity to live under the rule of Christ with Satan bound, but when Satan is let loose, we will see that they will go back to serving Satan again.

I think it's a tragedy, but we have to understand that when a person is a rejecter of Christ, you could send him to heaven for a thousand years and say "Look how nice it is here," and when he comes back he's going to reject it. Nothing's going to impress him to be saved.

It's like the story of the rich man and Lazarus. The rich man didn't want out. He only wanted to be comforted.

The reason he didn't want out was not because of the comparison between hell and heaven. It's because there's only one other place to be other than hell, and that's in the presence of Jesus Christ.

And for some people that's hell. They would prefer to be in hell, only comforted. They don't want to be with Christ. They are rejecters. And once a person's heart is a rejecter of Christ, you can't do anything about it.

Even living under perfect conditions, they still go back to serving Satan again.

    I hope this helps?

    Hello Giannis,

this is an interesting conversation about being humbled. I think that in Philippians 4 when it says that Jesus humbled Himself it does mean that He submitted Himself to the Father and to the plan ordained before the foundation of the world to save mankind from sin. But I also think that Jesus uniquely humbled Himself by taking a human nature unto Himself so that He, being God, would function as a man on earth being fully directed and empowered by the Holy Spirit. He did not stop being God when he incarnated in human flesh, but the humanity veiled His divinity and glory. Jesus took upon Himself the nature of a creature though He created all things. So, to speak, this was a downgrade for the Son of God. It was a humiliation, as even perfect humanity is beneath Him and His divine dignity. But He take on perfect humanity anyway, for us and to honor the Father and to carry out His love gift to us in His sacrifice for our sin.

Some people think that when Mary conceived that God the Son joined Himself to the person conceived in Mary. This is not true. The church has consistently confessed that Jesus was only on person, the Divine Son of God, but that He added a human nature (not another person) to Himself. The miracle of the conception of the Son of God is truly amazing. We can see that the Son truly humbled Himself to be conceived in Mary and go through human development to enter the world He created by being birthed by Mary. He did not indwell another human's body. The Father prepared a human body for Him. So, He was fully human and fully God, but not two persons. Nor was His divine nature mixed with His human nature. These existed in a union that did not involve mixing of two nature to become one new nature. In uniting his nature with a human nature, Jesus accepted restrictions to how His life was expressed. This was a humbling decision.

He has forever united His divine nature to His human nature so that He will eternally be fully God and fully man.
