Usually I hear this prayer quoted as a command, commanding virus, or sickness to flee. I love Matthew Henry's teaching on this, no evil shall befall me, neither it shall come near my door that God has not ordained. That's the main point, when we put our trust in Him we can be reassured that God is holding us, our life is in his hands knowing the HE holds the key to life and death. He is the object of our faith.

I am sorry if my comment upset you. You don't have all the details and have no idea why I think it would cause people in my life to repent. My little sister followed me into the world of drugs and alcohol. She is now a practicing prostitute, as is her daughter, to be able to support their heroine habit. Because I was the older brother and an alcoholic and addict myself, I know there's no way, other than shock that will reach her at this point. I have lived a deplorable existence and an act such as that would be the most effective way to reach people. By showing them that the wages of sin is death. I was going to write a heartfelt letter and pray for the best. I changed my mind anyway. Blessu

Does it matter? The bible was put together on the initiative of the Roman Emperor as a founding story to unite the tribes of Europe in acceptance of their rule. Its got some useful metaphors and can be used to educate children in some useful moral codes, but needs to be used carefully by adults or their children may grow up believing it literally.

Adam says that 'Jesus died for you so you can be forgiven and spend an eternity in paradise if you accept his gift.'
Why do I need to be forgiven? For what?!

This suggest that I am guilty of something. What exactly?

You say that God is all powerful. That he created the heavens and the earth. So God has created the Coronavirus.

Why do Christians not hold him accountable for this? If he were a man, he would go to prison for spreading Bioterrorism. Why don't Christians hold him accountable?

Why instead do Christians assume PEOPLE are guilty about something for which we need forgiveness? Why do Christians flip reality and ignore the enormous suffering he has caused?

The Book of Psalms is a collection of individual songs and poems, each numbered.
It is not a book separated into chapters, like the other books of the Bible.

Therefore, it is not correct to speak of "Psalms Chapter 127," but of "the 127th Psalm," or " Psalm 127," or "Psalm number 127," or similar. It is not a chapter. Never was.

It's exactly like Shakespeare's sonnets; no one refers to "Sonnets, Chapter X" but to "Sonnet Number X."

IMO does not mean earn your way, only try to do the best you can according to his commandnents,& a willingness to obey. Not striving for boasymtung, but with a humbled heart, wanting to do the right thing g.We know we are not & will not be perfect except thru Hesus Christ. He also said in his last words on the cross. It Is Finished. That means he paid it all.W ed cannot outdo or do better. There is no more said rifice.Ehen we are his sheep, his followers,& believers,we wish to,& have a yearning to do his commandments. But we are saved by AMAZING GRACE.It is not earned. We are called by our spirit,& freely given his eternal love.

in a word YES Jesus went to Abraham's bosom recorded in Luke 16. Before Jesus all the old testament saints went there. On the other side were the wicked who rejected the Lord.
Matthew 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. what was Jesus doing there? preaching the gospel
1 Peter Chapter 3: 18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
    19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
fallen angels have no offer of salvation Hebrews 2:16

Do not fall for the mandela effect as the Bibles
were not changed. if satan was able to go back
in time and change the Bible, then that means
he would be more powerful than the Lord God
of the Bible. Must be you remember a pastor
using a non king james version for the Lion
    instead of wolf.
Isaiah 11:6 The wolf also shall dwell with the
lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the
kid; and the calf and the young lion and the
fatling together; and a little child shall lead
    them.
God promised to PRESERVE his words and if
things were changed, then He failed.
The "lion shall lay down with the lamb" is a lyric
made popular by the 1937 song, "Peace in the
    Valley"
  • Bob Hilt on Philippians 4 - 6 years ago
Lion with lamb was a song
It was first made popular by Red Foley and the
Sunshine Boys in 1951 after being recorded by
Sam Cooke of the Soul Stirrers in 1950 and
rising to limited success. But it wasn't until Elvis
Presley recorded the song on his first
Christmas Album with the Jordanaires that
"Peace in the Valley" received worldwide fame.
On January 6, 1957, Elvis sang "Peace in the
Valley" on the Ed Sullivan Show,
After the popularity of Elvis' rendition of the
song, many ministers around the nation began
integrating the lyrics into their sermons.
that is what people remember not changed Bibles.

1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

    >So why would you - or God - blame me for the sins that Adam committed?

Hi David, do you feel that someone is blaming you for Adam's sins? Who? I don't know of anyone being blamed for that. Did you read the previous verse shared? It explains what happened after Adam and Eve sinned- the world was cursed in a sense. This explains natural things people consider bad. Also keep in mind that satan is considered god of this world and allowed to roam, deceive, and possibly even afflict people physically: 2 Corinthians 4:4, 2 Corinthians 12:7. God allows things to happen and we sometimes sustain collateral damage from others or the natural environment. This world is very temporary for everyone.

Who told you this was changed? Did you conclude this from your own research or did someone tell you this and just assume it's true? This is false and is proven in seconds by looking at the original 1611 published copy here: Link - notice it says 'bottles' just as the KJV has always said for 400 years. Other translations use the word wine skins, not KJV. It never has, so to claim otherwise is false. Is this the only verse evidence you have to support your assumption? Please compare all verses to the original 1611 AD first to see for yourself before posting such assumptions.

Of course I looked at the verse before commenting on it. We are talking about supernatural changes to the Bible. Look it up and see for yourself. Here is one: Mark 2:22. Wine skins has been changed to bottles. New wine bursts old wine skins, not bottles.
  • David Orren - In Reply on Philippians 4 - 6 years ago
Christians say that God created all things. Christians celebrate that God created all the beautiful natural things. Then who created all the bad natural things?

And I am wondering what it is that I did in the first place? I cannot blame my children for the sins I may have committed. That would be unreasonable of me. I need to be accountable for what I do. . So why would you - or God - blame me for the sins that Adam committed?

Where in the bible does it say, God is his own place and sufficient for himself. Seeing that he is himself One and the whole.
  • Adam - In Reply on Isaiah 11 - 6 years ago
What changes? What Bible? If you're assuming the King James Bible meaning has changed that is false and easily disproven. Link It's always said the same wolf, leopard, lion in verse 6. The meaning of the KJV Bible has been preserved and is easy to see, because the original 1611 A.D. translation is also on this website, so someone has the entire 400+ year span to easily compare to. Did you even look up this verse before you decided to criticize it publicly? Let's just deal with the truth and facts. Satan wants to deceive people into distrusting the Bible and he loves using people to spread his lies.

If a soft answer turns away wrath, then would a loud, authoritative sounding voice cause wrath? My husband gets so frustrated with our son who has problems with addictions that he tends to talk real loud and bark orders at him. He thinks he is using Tough Love I guess, but it,s not working. We keep going around in circles with our son and getting nowhere with him as far as getting help for his addictions. My nerves are shot. I am on the verge of a nervous break down right now. We are believers in Jesus. What can we do differently? What are we doing wrong? This is so tough! Any suggestions! Thanks!

  • Lisa M - In Reply on Isaiah 11 - 6 years ago
You are correct Rosanna Jackson, the bible is changing. It did say Lion and has been changed to Wolf. There are many changes. Revelation 22:18-19. Many will say but God would not allow the word to be changed. Well the very fact that He put that in Revelation 22:18-19 tells us the Word will change and look what is going to happen to the ones that change it. Very sad indeed. Stay strong in the Lord. The devil is full of deceit and is deceiving many followers of Christ.

Here's a related verse: 2 Corinthians 6:14. I think it's good to share the gospel, be a living testimony and give people a chance, however. That's my opinion. People should generally not expect someone else to change, however.
