Justus was one of the three fellow labourers with Paul. The other two were Aristarchus & Marcus. And these, said Paul, were a real comfort to him, probably during some difficult period in his life. So Justus' name was actually Jesus (Yeshua/Yehoshua in Hebrew or Joshua), but he was also referred to as Justus.

The interpretation of Selah is not certain. We know that when it is used in the Psalter, it's often used in Psalms that are sung or of praise to God. Therefore, it can mean "to life up or to exalt" as an ending to some declaration. Or, it could be a direction or musical notation to the singers to "pause, be silent or become louder or softer according to the musical director". So, one cannot be certain as to its meaning or even how the Jews today view that word or if they take much notice of it in their readings.

Two Theories On This Biblical Account

    1. The king James bible says the following; he would offer her as burnt sacrifice, she lamented being a virgin for two months, then he did what he vowed. He vowed to offer her to the lord as a burnt sacrifice. This is the clear meaning of the language used in the King James Bible. This is sometimes confused with she was lamenting her virginity because she would have to remain celibate but this is not what the bible says and there are two primary issues.

    2. Theory 2 says he just offered her to the lord to be celibate the rest of her life. Two problems here. 1. Levitical law allows for making a trespass offering when a person makes a vow like this. Instead of sacrificing her or dedicating her to the lord to be celibate he could have just made a tress pass offering to be forgiven of a sinful or un-kept vow. Read Leviticus 5:4-6. The second problem is if he didn't sacrifice her as the bible says and just dedicated her to the lord, Levitical law also allows a person to buy back someone they previously dedicated to the lord for 30 shekels. Leviticus 27:2-4

Honestly after being ran off by his brother Jephthah spent a lot of time out in the world and probably was not even familiar with the Levitical law any more. Not knowing the law he probably figured he was doing the right thing by sacrificing her when in reality he was not obeying god in this act, he was committing murder. The sin was making the vow in the first place and remedy was already provided for by god via a trespass offering.

I would understand that the rider on the white horse would have had arrows with his bow. We need to remember that all this imagery was shown to John to depict certain events yet to happen, therefore it shouldn't be assumed that the bow & arrows carried, should be anything more than signifying the purpose of the rider's coming, i.e. to go forth to conquer. Just as in verse 5: the rider on the black horse had weighing scales with him. Again, the picture is given to show the Act of God upon the world in scarcity of food.

I understand that Jerusalem in that Scripture speaks about the city itself. It's meaning is generally understood to be "Foundation of Peace". Jerusalem has had a long history but in biblical days, it was occupied by the Jebusites until the time of King David who managed to capture the city by stealth (see 2 Samuel chapter 5).

You're quite correct in your observations about the many, who for reasons known only to themselves, promote themselves or their errant teachings to the deception & detriment of many gullible believers. But how can we judge them in all truth? Each one of us will have to stand before God for the Truth we hold onto & disseminate to others. And particularly so to those in leadership & appointed to care for our spiritual well-being ( Hebrews 13:17).

    Hello brothers.

As I believe the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are One. I do not believe they are they same exact "person", or "being",as some believe. Which I really have no problem with. As I believe they are One in each other and work through each other. Here is one verse that was just shown to me. Which, to me, seems to be the Father(Ancient of Days) giving glory and dominion to Jesus Christ(Son of Man) in the Old Testament. Before Christ was born. A vision of Daniel. Daniel 7:13-14.

    God Bless.

Verse 30 suggests that the Proverbs 31 woman is a woman who fears the Lord will be praised. I think fearing the Lord might be the first step to these other fine characteristics.

Please pray for the ministries in India, Andhra Pradesh where there is no government funding for churches.

Pastor Kumar and the church with the widows and orphans of our Heavenly Father, as well as for Kolaiah ministries of Cholistan Desert, Pakistan where Pastor Munawar and his team are evangelizing to the marginal groups of the country and and tilling the ground for God's Kingdom. May they receive the fullness of God's presence and allow His Spirit to work through their situations and circumstances to establish His everlasting Life, Salvation, Glory and Reign.

Christians don't believe in 3 separate Gods. Christians believe the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are one, because it literally says that in the Bible in 1 John 5:7 and Christians believe the Bible is the Word of God. It also is mentioned in other verses: Link

. The blessed Spirit will maintain the cause of Christ in the world, notwithstanding the opposition it meets with. Believers taught and encouraged by his influences, would bear testimony to Christ and his salvation.( Mathew Henry).

These words are the bow with the arrow that will speak into the soul of man! The fiery darts are the word of God when he says ,"overcome evil with good".

We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. I am not one who knows the place the word comes from, Any More than I know What it means. The pages of the bible are the true image of who he is! It will also change your image , an mage like unto Him! Who can know the unfathomable works of God, unless he where to read it? Then and only will you experience the power given unto those that love him! Many who wish to know , must give their heart and soul only, to Him that loves you !H.S.

Am I breaking any commandment if I crochet stuffed animals and ocean life?

When the commandments in chapter 5 of Deuteronomy said to not to create and images of humans or animals or beneath the sea. is this breaking this commandment? I never worship any of the crochet projects I give them as gifts. Is this still wrong?

JJ remember John 3: 16 to 21. For God so love the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believed in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

For God sent not his son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved

He that believed not is condemned already. Because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten son of God.

And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, andmenloved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

For every one that depth evil hated the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds maybe made manifest, that they are wrought in god. In response to JJ. John15

    SECTION OUTLINE ONE ( 1 JOHN 1)

John opens his first letter with a presentation of Christ as both the life and light of believers.

    I. JESUS CHRIST, THE LIFE OF BELIEVERS (1:1-4)

    A. John's proclamation (1:1-2): The apostle offers a twofold description of this divine giver of life.

    1. The eternal Christ (1:1a): He existed before the world began.

    2. The earthly Christ (1:1b-2): John saw, heard, and touched the physical body of the Savior.

    B. John's purpose (1:3-4): He writes this that we might know the two reasons for Jesus'

    incarnation.

    1. The vertical reason (1:3): That we might experience fellowship with both the Father and Son.

    2. The horizontal reason (1:4): That we might share our joy with one another.

II. JESUS CHRIST, THE LIGHT OF BELIEVERS (1:5-10)

    A. The fact (1:5): "God is light and there is no darkness in him at all."

    B. The fruits (1:6-10)

    1. Negative (1:6, 8, 10): If we walk in darkness with unconfessed sin, we will remain barren.

    2. Positive (1:7-9): If we walk in the light and confess our sin, we will be cleansed and fruitful.

    False Teachers, Prophets, wolves

Heavenly Father, thank You for the many warnings of false teachers who cause such devastation in the Church. Thank You that the true gospelis contained in the Scriptures and I pray that in Your grace I would become fully equipped to identify false teachings and other deceptions in the Church.

Help me tobe ready to give a clear and accurate answer for the hope I have in me and protect the hearts and minds of all Your people from worldly deception.

We pray thatfalse teacherswouldbe exposed for their trickery andtheir deceptive ministries bebrought to justice - this I ask in Jesus' name. Amen.

Always without fail read Trusted Commentaries (through Google if you need to), on scriptures that seem to be argued over frequently. See what the scholars said, like Matthew Henry. This is how to smoke out a heresy.

Comments by Alex about how are we gonna be Gods simply b/c this corruptible is gona put on incorruption and this mortal is gonna put on IMMORTALITY which is God ,We are gona be changed in the twinkling of an eye ,there is gonna be marriage to God Almighty to his people, we are gona be made 1 with God thus we will share his GLORY ,THE VERY kINGDOM OF GOD IS GONA BE WITH IN US. As a young man marries a virgin so shall thy SONS MARRY THEE. As the bridegroom rejoices over the bride so shall thy God rejoice over thee, Thus we are gona be Gods. There is gonna be a marriage to God ( the sons ) which is the H.G. that are gonna be many as the stars of heaven, our sons are Spirits which is the H.G. sons of man etc. Thy maker is thy husband the God of the whole world shall he be called . Thus we are truly gona be Gods. Simply b/c this mortal is gonna put on immortality. It should read so shall thy SPIRITS marry thee WHICH IS THE H.G. that is gona marry us. The H.G. is our sons simply b/c we are gonna birth the H.G. via his good seed the word. The spirit and the flesh are gonna be made 1 .Remember he made his spit and the earth 1 ,his spit was just symbolic of his word which is spirit, the earth is just symbolic of humanity the world the flesh. he made em one which is a marriage and this is how the eyes of the blind man are gona be opened the world. The eyes of the world are blind at this time . darkness has covered the world and gross darkness the people A SPRITUAL BLINDNESS . OK GBU

  • Mild Bill on Psalms 29 - 5 years ago
God is due glory, and beyond what he is due, we are lead by love of him, to worship his person by our best imitation of his character(his holiness). Strength of faith/trust is all of him, because he loved us first," the author and finisher of our faith." While his voice may capture our attention, rightly so, he is seated and giving peace unlike any other we will ever know. Though hated of the world, he is spectacular in the sight of believers, and that makes us mighty, unto him.

  • David Palm on Psalms 23:1 - 5 years ago
Psalms 23 is all about our loving Father who created us even before the foundation of the world . I wore a pendant around my neck with the 23 psalm engraved on it while I was serving in Vietnam. Just like all the other words of God ,inspired by the Holy Ghost , according to Romans 12 : verse 2 ,we are called to prove God's Good , Acceptable , and perfect will , which is his word . To prove means to bring forth evidence , without a shadow of doubt by living it , by speaking it and can only be done by believing it ,that is by faith . The first 2 words in Hebrew 11: 1 says , Now Faith . Websters dictionary defines now as the time immediately preceding the present . My point is this , we can wear psalms 23 on a pendant around our necks and read it every day , however to live it out with the NOW kind of faith, proves God's complete word . Amen !
