I have used this verse many times while preaching to JW's and have had them concede. After having them agree with me that only God can be Omi-present I then drop this verse explaining that if JESUS is in many people at once then he is Omni-present thus having the authority of God.

I also like showing them Revelation 1 and asking them who the alpha and omega is, who is this person who says: I am the beginning and the end?

They will say: it is Jehovah.

I will then ask them to read the next part; I am he that liveth and was dead and behold, I am alive forever more.

    JESUS Is LORD!

The matter of cremation or burial in the ground, remains the choice of the deceased (in His Will) or a loved one. I don't believe there is any particular instruction in what is the best or acceptable way of disposal of the deceased. In regard to Jewish practice, it has always been emtombment, as cremation (burning of the body) was done by the heathen. In 1 Samuel chapter 31, we read that at the death of Saul & his sons, the people of Jabeshgilead took their bodies & burned them. Or if punishment was given to those crimes that warranted it, then burning was required (e.g. Leviticus 20:14). Otherwise, the deceased always required their entombment.

For reasons of cost of burial or request or a person's preference, cremation may be undertaken. At the resurrection, the Lord is well able to re-constitute the remains, whether cremains, or from the sea, or scattered. But it's always my preference for a burial as an honourable & meaningful way of dealing with a loved one.

Tattoos: again we can appeal to the Old Testament. Leviticus 19:28 speaks of cutting of the flesh or printing marks on the body. Leviticus 21:5 gives a similar warning. These were given to Israel that they do not imitate the heathen in these practises, whether for the sake of idol worship or for the dead. As a holy people, Israel would do wickedly by this & punishment was certain. In the New Testament, the Apostle Paul reminds Christians, that our body is not ours to do what we like with, but belongs to God, being the Temple (the residence) of His Holy Spirit ( 1 Corinthians 6:19,20). So just as we need to take good care of both the outside & inside of our body, we must also take much care how we display ourselves before people. Does both our behaviour & appearance match that of godliness & in God's family? Romans 12:2 tells us not to conform ourselves to the world (i.e. if our minds are renewed so it will show in our outward display of Christ-likeness). Tattoos & fashion trends just don't cut it for me.

Why do most Christian denominations stick to the john 1:18 no one has seen God when Exodus 24 clearly says different?

    John 1:18

18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

    Exodus 24 10-11

10 And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness.

11 And upon the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand: also they saw God, and did eat and drink.

Where in the old testament do we read the Isreal nation was punished for obeying a king?
  • Chris - In Reply on 2 Samuel 21 - 5 years ago
What you read in 1 Samuel 31:4,5, does show that Saul & his armour bearer fell on their swords & were buried by the inhabitants of Jabeshgilead under a tree at Jabesh (vv 11-13).

Then in 2 Samuel 21:12, King David comes onto the scene. He willing to avenge the death of the Gibeonites, took Saul's children, except Mephibosheth, & gave them to the King of Gibeon to slaughter them to avenge the death of his people. This they did & then David, hearing of this later, came to where the remains of Saul & the others were & took them & buried them amongst the tribe of Benjamin (vv 12-14).

However, the apparent discrepancy about Saul falling on his sword or whether the Philistines killed him instead, can be cleared up by understanding that, Saul's wounding was as 'sore wounding', i.e. it was a fatal wound but that death would be some time in coming. Thus Saul hurried it up by committing suicide. But the Scripture tells us that the Philistines actually struck the death blow - Saul just finishing off the job, so to speak.

Something doesn't read correctly here, as verse 12 states that the Philistines slew Saul in Gilboa. How is that

possible when Saul and his armor bearer fell on their own swords back in I Samual 31: 4&5? They were both dead!

Preachers who forbid inter-racial marriages would usually have to quote the Old Testament, where God forbad Israel from doing so (e.g. Deuteronomy 7:3, Joshua 23:12, & many others). This was given expressly to prevent the 'purity' of God's people from becoming tainted with the spiritual harlotry of the heathen around them. Conversely, the prophet Hosea was instructed to marry a promiscuous woman, Gomer, we understand from another nation, for the purposes of giving Israel a vivid example to the extent of their unfaithfulness & debauchery. So, it was never seen that Israel was to have anything to do with the heathen around them, whether in business or marriage.

Then comes Jesus & His Cross. The Cross not only became God's implement to provide a sinner destined for eternal punishment, a way out & into the Arms of a Merciful God, but also brought together all peoples, of every nation, tribe & tongue, into that one Body, which is Christ. The Apostle Paul says it well here: "For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus...There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus."( Galatians 3:26-28). That is, those who have come through Jesus' Cross & have been born again of His Spirit, are now one family, regardless of nationality, gender or anything else. I understand that we have God's permission to marry whomever we wish, but only those "in the Lord".

The care however that a believer should take in this regard, is for finding the partner in life who has similar goals & direction in life & who truly keeps the Lord as the preeminent One in their lives, in their thoughts & decisions. Disunity here can lead to unnecessary turmoils further down the road. Our common love for our intended spouse & for the Lord Who saved us, ought to be the criterion for our decision to marry someone, rather than using their skin colour, appearance or background as the criteria.

Miss J, I had a similar experience, minus the dream of a burning house, of where the Lord clearly spoke to me whilst in morning prayer about forsaking all to serve Him. As background info, I attended a small Fellowship of vibrant believers & who even from a small congregation, had sent out around twenty souls to serve in overseas mission work. So the challenge was ever before us from the pulpit: "what are you still doing sitting here - be up & moving out to serve!"

So, this then became a matter for much prayer. I was already engaged in open-air ministry in the city centre (styled around the work of Open Air Campaigners), doing tract distribution in my neighbourhood, & giving Bible studies. But in all this, the Lord had been quiet about overseas service. It was only after the Lord took home my Dad in 1985, that the word came to me very clearly in prayer at the end of 1987 about serving overseas & to do so with a particular Mission. I knew this was of the Lord, as he undertook for me in every way to achieve His Plan. He even sold my home for me in a few days, without me even mentioning it to anyone that I wanted to put it on the market!

Why I relate all this to you, is that the Lord knows your heart & your desire to serve Him. His child can do no better than to aspire to such a high calling: service to the King of kings. What are the ways you employ now to serve the Lord? Remember, often when those already labouring for Him are those whom He calls specifically. Where lies your interests? For some, the great ministry of prayer is their passion - others to be found serving even to the point of laying down their lives for the Gospel. I read that you sense that this could be a 'global' ministry for you. Keep on praying about the matter, speak to overseas Missions about their work & opportunities to serve. Though age may be against you, your spirit & willingness is very apparent. Have your heart & mind constantly trained on this path - God will direct you for sure.

Jerry, Google shows me that the distance from Jerusalem to Damascus is about 150 miles, give or take. For a person to travel that distance by foot would take him about two weeks. Now considering the urgency of the matter on Saul's mind to speedily go to Damascus with his arrest warrants & haul back the Christians to Jerusalem for trial & death, I would think (& this is not in Scripture), that he would have had to travel by donkey or may even be by a chariot, carriage or cart to get there speedily. But if his only means of travel was on the back of a donkey, then that beast would have needed to be a sprightly animal so as to not delay Saul's important mission. Just my thoughts.

    There is Syrian, as in:

    Syro-Lebanese and Syro-Aramaic.

If you find the dormant volcanoes, the former shore lines along the hill and mountain sides, you will see the land mass has changed from when Noah's Ark arrived and struck land and from when Abram aka Abraham was born.

That is why there was a king Tidal of nations. Tide or tidal are related to the ocean and sea tides.

You may not have thought when Jacob or Abraham "went down" that they did not enter into a hole in the ground. They went to a safer place than where the volcanic eruptions and vents were causing famines. Yet, in the Moses' era, the volcanic activity affected Egypt and left the land Jacob's children and other were to live in alone, except for some few local hot spots in the group of volcanoes. Besides the people who dwelled the land and the land itself changing. God had the people with Moses and Nun's son, Joshua safely passing through the SAFEST PARTS of the land.

Anyone who was listening to Moses and Joshua, obeying the directions could have been spared from the natural disasters.

Praise God for His mighty working in your life to bring you to the point of realizing your own worthlessness in the light of the great worth & call of a loving Saviour to you. A mighty testimony indeed you shared. As I read it, I thought of Gen. William Booth, founder of the Salvation Army (1829-1912) who too was a mighty man of God & shared some great insights to the plight of mankind & their needs. Quotes such as:

"Most Christians would like to send their recruits to Bible college for five years. I would like to send them to hell for five minutes. That would do more than anything else to prepare them for a lifetime of compassionate ministry."

"If you want to change the future, then you are going to have to trouble the present."

"I am not waiting for a move of God, I am a move of God!"

"I consider that the chief dangers which confront the coming century will be religion without the Holy Ghost, Christianity without Christ, forgiveness without repentance, salvation without regeneration, politics without God, and heaven without hell."

"Some men's passion is for gold. some men's passion is for art. some men's passion is for fame. my passion is for souls."

"The greatness of a man's power is the measure of his surrender."

"Faith and works should travel side by side, step answering to step, like the legs of men walking. First faith, and then works; and then faith again, and then works again--until they can scarcely distinguish which is the one and which is the other."

"Put your ear down to the Bible, and hear Him bid you go and pull sinners out of the fire of sin. Put your ear down to the burdened, agonized heart of humanity, and listen to its pitiful wail for help."

"Some of my best men are women!"

"Go straight for souls, and go for the worst."

You may read his other great quotations by googling Quotations by Gen. William Booth. May the Lord bless you in your ministry, using you to pull out many from the fires of hell.

Jesus told em that the parable of the sower and his seed was the most important parable of all of the parables .jesus said know ye not this parable how then will you know all parables, meaning understanding this parable will lead you to the birth of a child not of this world, a baby christ, and this is the child that will lead you into all truth , the name of this child is emanuel god with us then you will know all parables simply b/c the child is the h.g. as these things are hid from the wise and prudent but revealed unto babes which are the israel of god the very kingdom of god in us via that precious seed the living word. thats y peter was saying being bornagain of an incorruptible seed even by the words of god that liveth and abideth for ever. which is the seed of the sower. thus the parable of the sower is the mediation of the new covenant the words of god the contents of the book in the right hand of the father, and these are the words that are gonna form christ in us and thats y the seeds of the sower are the pearl of great price, its gonna cost ya everything ,remember jesus said count the cost. the merchant man that found the treasure had to sell all in order to buy the field . ya cannot go half way to buy the field of faith as the field contains the words of god, the children, faith comes by hearing the living word, ya gotta realize there is a kingdom child in the good seed which is a baby christ, unless ya receive the kingdom as a lil child you will in no wise enter there in. thats y he always refers to himself as the son of man, we are gonna birth a baby christ which is the h.g. that child of promise from the good seed .who is my mother jesus asked them that hear the word ( good seed ) th seed of the sower which initiates a birth of christ in us. mankind is gonna bring forth fruit unto god via that good seed. thus he is truly the son of man. thats y zech. calls him our 1st born our only son, we've been in mournin for 2000 yrs 2 days for our 1st born. gbu

I need more clarification. I had also considered that verse before hand.

For I myself travel down this lonely road. The hurt , pain, sorrows, and no where to lay my head. over 20 years homeless, Lost everything:, Wife & Families. Gave up on life. Till one day GOD knock me down on all fours. ended up 3 months in a hospital. With gangrene .Leg to be amputated . A hospital Chaplin came and prayed over me. For the very 1st. time I tasted DEATH !. GOD showed me the bottomless pit. Never hit bottom; For it was bottomless, I was then lifted up by the right hand of GOD. From where I fell , I look across and saw 100s of people falling in to the bottomless pit. It was like a bad dream. BUT it was no dream. As I was going up toward the light, I felt a mist of running waters. Suddenly the pain on my leg left me, All of my sorrows vanish, It was a wonderful felling. NOW I WAS FRIGHTEN !. I look all around myself. A brightness like no other. To my left , 12 shadows of men putting my business out. Judgement Day. Judgement Day is no joking mater. To where yout own soul is your prosecutor. I was Guilty. Behind these men came a large ball of fire, Bright as the sun. I back up and looked into the fire. Just to see a man in the fire. IT WAS JESUS CHRIST !. Before me. in his full GLORY !. Trust me All knees will bow !. I threw myself on the floor. So ashamed of myself. Afraid to even to look and gaze upon his presents. Look down on the floor: Jesus came up to me. Place his feet under my face. WOW ! . JESUS is very real. Jesus shook his right finger down at me and chastised me. Then spoke these very WORDS to me ! YOU NOW WORK FOR ME.!. He love me so much that he forgave me. JESUS said to me . GO BACK AND TELL THE WORLD TO WHAT YOU HAVE SEEN .When I woke up, I was healed 100% . Doctors were baffle. Today I am on a mission for JESUS CHRIST as a pastor. It was the love of my savior. GRACE.

The Devil keeps getting into my head every time I think about you or try to pray or just talk to you and he is trying his best to put doubt in my head about you being real and I hate it and if you would please make him stop. I always tell him to stop and then ask you to help me but he is trying harder and harder I think because he knows he is getting to me with it? Thank you Lord Jesus for everything you do and have done for us and are still doing it every day of our lives. Love you Lord Jesus. Amen

The day begotten in my reading is started with the judgement of the heathen. ( Ps 2 Heb 1)

Jesus Christ will fufil this charge "on that day." And most likely will be the start of the millennium as the days of God are as 1000 years.

As to Solomon, he typifies the succession of worship as God confirms by fire. But the fufillment is in Jesus. Only he will execute vengeance, establish righteousness, true judgement on earth. This far exceeds the Incarnation and it easy slide into ritual pagan religion
