Melchizedek was a mysterious person described in Genesis 14. His ancestory/genealogy or any other detail about him is not given in the Bible, thats why it is written that he is "Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually."

He is written that he was king of Salem, salem meaning peace, probably Jerusalem. He was a priest. But he was not a Hebrew, he didn't belong to the tribe of Levi who had the priesthood according to Mose's Law. Anyway he lived before Moses. The Hebrew priests were in charge in the temple for a year, then another priest would be in charge. They were changed continually. But Melhizedek was priest for all his life, he wasn't substituted by somebody else. So Paul says in his epistle to Hebrews that Christ was a priest like Melchizedek, that is that He will not hand His priesthood to somebody else, for as long He lives, that is for ever He keeps priesthood forever. (This is a good point to those Christians that have priests in their churches. Were did they get the priesthood from since Jesus doesn't hand it to somebody else?)

In a few words Pauls tells to Jews that the Old Law that involved priests and animal sacrificies has been substituted by the sacrifice of the Lamb/Christ who remains our Priest for ever.

First , you definitely have God , you can always talk to Him about anything and everything , we can approach Him through our sinless High Priest and His Son Jesus Christ . Secondly , you can always come on here and tell us anything and if we can help we will . Please remember that as a Christian you are never alone , God and Jesus are with you 24/7 so talk to them , or us , anytime . Much love in Christ .

Josef....God bless you for Posting all those things,...But none those things cd save mankind....Absolutely none OF THE WORKS OF the Flesh CAN SAVE US but a New CREATURE...By his mercy His blood ....Not by works of Righteousness which we have done but by the Regeneration of the H.G... Titus 3 : 5 KJV...The washing of regeneration, the renewing of the H.G.....An Israel of God....That Great Promise of multiplication n regeneration of Christ Jesus is the only way there can be an Israel of God.

.....For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision NOR uncircumcision availeth any thing ( nothing ) but a New Creature....Which is the Gift of the H.G. that New Creature... Gal 6: 15 Kjv....Not by Works or No Works...But only by the Blood of the Lamb he saved us.

.....Josef....We should still do all those things...but the only thing that plzs GOD is a NEW CREATURE...Which is the H.G. the Child of PROMISE....That we have to birth via his good seed the living word....Jesus commanded them to be bornagain of an incorruptible seed...Even by his Words....Our new heart and a new spirit is the only thing that plzs God..The H.G....She brought forth a man Child that was caught up to God and to his throne....And this Child will RULE all nations ....The Child is that New Creature....New to us but old to God....They will bring forth things out of their treasure ( our hearts ) things New and old...

.....Jesus said unless ya receive the Kingdom of God as a lil Child you will in no wise enter there in...The Child is the H.G. our New Creature..ok gbu

    Yes dear Cindy.

In the parable or real story of the rich man and Lazarus both recognized each other and remembered their lives on earth. So taking that into account, yes we will know our loved ones in Heaven, if they are in Heaven.

I pray for the end of all evil. Heaven on earth, the new Jerusalem and the evil-1 to repent and confess its sin.
  • Adam - In Reply - 3 years ago
This is an indirect answer to your question, but Jesus was twelve when he began acting independent and spent 3 days in Jerusalem apparently talking with doctors and teachers.

I believe age 13 is Jewish bar mitzvah- coming of age.

It wasn't until age 30 that Jesus started His ministry.

    God bless.

    Yes, Chris, I agree.

Hoping the Lord takes what I said and moves the hearts of those prepared to come to Him. We have an internment service in August for both my Mom and Dad. But this memorial service was really a big thing and I am glad to have completed it and given tribute to my Mom.

    Hey John,

This is my understanding, please study and let the Holy Spirit help you come to your understanding.

The people in Thessalonica were questioning things and had concerns about the second coming of Jesus. Paul, in first and second Thessalonians, was responding to Timothy's report on the church there. In 2 Thessalonians 2, Paul told them that Jesus would not return until two things happened "for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;".

What is this falling away, apostasia; meaning defection, revolt, to leave, or depart? To be one of the two things that Paul lists that will happen before Jesus returns it must be of a large scale, not some gradual departure.

In Revelation 3:10 there is the hour of temptation that will come on all the world. In 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12 and for this cause God shall send them strong delusion. God will not keep us from being tempted but keep us by giving us the strength in our faith not to surrender to it. This temptation comes upon all the world including the believers in Christ if we are still alive, if we are living, we will face this, Revelation 13:9-15

Jesus said these words, Matt. 10,16 Mark 8 and Luke 9, Luke 17:33 Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it, to me fits this very time that is coming.

Romans 8:17-18 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. 18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

"Here is the patience and the faith of the saints".

    God bless,

    Amen Jackie:

God uses parables, and symbolism through his word.

We, through the working or the Holy Spirit, have to break down the symbolism to make all scriptures agree with themselves.

Psalms 19:1 The heavens show his handy work ....

John 3:13 No man has ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is IN HEAVEN.

Colossians 1:27 ....this mystery ....CHRIST IN YOU ....

YOU and I (the heavens) show his handy work and glory

Psalms 19:2 Day unto day uttereth speech, night unto night sheweth knowledge.

Literal day cannot speak, nor literal night show knowledge.

You and I speak, by the working of the Holy Spirit.

Psalms 12:4 Who have said, With our tongue we shall prevail, our lips are our own, who is Lord over us.

Philippians 2:13 For it is God that WORKETH IN YOU (this mystery, Christ in you) both TO WILL and TO DO his good pleasure.

Psalms 139:12 Yea the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.

Psalms 19:4 Their (speech and knowledge)(Christ in you) line have gone through out all the earth, and their word (Christ in you), in them (You and I) (Christ in you) he hath set a tabernacle (you are the temple of God 1 Corinthians 3:16) for the SUN (the Father).

Revelation 21:22 And I saw no temple there in: For the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the TEMPLE OF IT (Christ in you).

Psalms 19:5 Which as a bridegroom cometh out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.

Isaiah 61:10 I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul (body, Christ in you) shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation (Christ in you), he hath covered (blood of Christ) me with the rob of righteousness (Christ in you), as a BRIDEGROOM decketh himself with ornaments (Christ in you), and as a BRIDE (You and I) adorneth herself WITH HER JEWELS (Christ in you).

I'm out of characters I hope you see the picture.

    God bless you.

These are just a few of several verses in the bible, I hope this is what you were asking for,

Matthew 19:4-6 "And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,"

Romans 1:18-32 "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;"

Galatians 5:16-26 "This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would."

How does pride and power come together when used as a bible discussion?
  • Giannis - In Reply - 3 years ago
    Dear Alex

As I have already said bapt. in water is something different from bapt. in Spirit. Bapt. in Spirit doesn't substitute bapt. in water. They serve different purposes. Baptism in Spirit is for sanctification, for receiving spiritual gifts, guide the church, pray for us in an unknown manner and for many other things as well. Once Jesus ascended to heaven, His is the one in command now in the church and when rapture occurs He will take away the church and hand it to Jesus to takes us all with Him to the Heavens.

Baptism in water is a commandment. Not like any other commandment. This particular commandment is closely associated with salvation. That is why it is written that the one who believes and is baptized will be saved. I think it can be no more clear than that. It is very evident in the Book of Acts that the very very first thing the Apostles did when people believed in Christ was to ask them or even order them to be baptized in water. Why if it wasn't necessary? Jesus condemned Pharisees for not be willing to be baptized John's baptism saying that they didn't justify God by doing it, that they rejected the will of God for them. Didn't justify God, reject the will of God? How very serious this is. The same way if we are not willing for any reason to be baptized the christian baptism is literally rejecting the will of God for us now.

    Thanks for your replies.

Dear Todd , firstly don't despair , God doesn't stop loving us when we mess up , He knew you before you were born and He knew you would get into trouble sometimes , that's why He gave us Jesus . You don't say if your partner is also a Christian . If you are both totally sure that your relationship is definately over you should probably go your separate ways as quickly as possible . You both need time and space to rebuild your relationship with God , admit your faults to Him and ask for forgiveness , pray often read your Bible often and get yourself back on track in your relationship with Him . He is very loving and forgiving . If you are still in love with your partner and she with you then perhaps you can work on your relationship but not live together , God should be both of your priorities . Get back to Him before trying to get back to each other . Do not despair God loves you , that will never change . Try to stay calm and treat each other with respect and honesty , space and time apart from each other and with your Heavenly Father should help you both see things more clearly . Trust in Him .

Thank you GiGi for sharing with us the extra information about that very special service. I'm sure that your message & testimony from the two Scriptures would have meant more to all who attended than anything else that was delivered that day. Folk would have been interested & blessed to receive such a deep insight to your Mother's life & ministry to her children - her deep concern that each one of them hears & understands the life-giving Gospel & to gain eternal life, the life which she enjoys presently. You had a captive audience & you faithfully delivered God's Message to them. May the Holy Spirit apply it in His special way to those who needed to hear it & be challenged.

Dear Gale, draw near to Him and He will draw near to you.

Ask and you shall receive. That said, He always answers our prayers in His own time, but He doesn't always give us what we ask for because He know what benefits us more than we do. Wait on him, He is never overdue.

There shall be no sign given but the sign of Jonah. Jonah would be brought to judgment and live to see it!

In 3 days and nights He experienced the wrath of God for His disobedience! It would be this action that we hear the words of Christ too the unbelieving Jews! "No sign shall be given but the sign of Jonah"!

This time He spent in judgment, it is this time that would have the most impact! If you know the story than you know the impact! The impact upon the conscious of a poor old man, whos desire was not toward His God, and yet, How Jesus uses Him, this Jew, too show the signs of the times!!

Jonah thought His days of ministration were over, even denying the voice within, pushing away His God who would take Him to Nineveh.

Jonah new the people would never listen, and may even kill Him, still denying the voice within!

The best preachers in the world, are those who are sent by God! One who has experienced the judgments from above, who have been called, and have run the race that has been set before them.

    This is what Jonah did!

After waking upon the sand, wondering how He had gotten their, yet breathing His almost last breath, got up and ran to Nineveh like no one ever could or ever will!

Much like the 3 days and nights in darkness, His witness to those things that belong to God, He saw! That when God wants something from us, He shall provide the way, with or without our consent!

Jonah entered through the massive gate of Nineveh. Broken, distraught, His hair and beard knotted, His eyes full of desperation!

Those who saw Him heard Him, even while he stood saying nothing. His expression would be enough, enough that the whole city would come to repentance! These are the signs of the times. You may hear nothing, but know by the look in the eye that the days of judgment are at hand! Repentance is in the eyes of the preacher, you must heed the warning or suffer the consequences that reach into eternity!

The falling away isn't limited to one country and I believe we are in that now . When my Grandma was a little girl , everyone went to church , if one of the neighbours didn't go they were talked about for days behind their back . It didn't matter which church you went to just so long as you went to one . I have a lovely painting done by a friend of mine of Abraham about to sacrifice Isaac on the altar , in the background is a ram with its horns caught in the thicket , my friend's daughter , in her early twenties , had no idea about the painting at all . Is it religious ? She asked me . Where I live , religious education barely exists and when it does , children have to learn about all beliefs , muslim hindu buddist etc . When I was a child ,about 9 years old , our school did it's version of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat , all our school plays were stories from the Bible and I didn't go to a religious school , just an ordinary state school . Because of globalisation everything is relevant which ends up meaning that nothing is , a famous author once said : when man stops believing in God , he will end up believing in anything , I believe we are in the midst of the falling away , now If you say you go to church people look at you as if you are crazy . They are the fools , but they think we are . Some people are in for some very big surprises smiley face , Dear Heavenly Father , please send Jesus back to us very soon , when it is Your will .

Thanks for that brother Adam, and I agree that the pronunciations given are as close as possible to the actual vocalization of those words in Hebrew. I did read Dan's request for the "PROPER phonetic pronunciations", as the words would be spoken in Hebrew by a Hebrew speaker (maybe I misunderstood him & he just wanted to say the words correctly in English). Though, you're correct, an English speaker may not easily discern those names unless read simultaneously with the one reading them from the Bible.
