“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.”
King James Version (KJV)
5:6 They that hunger and thirst after righteousness - After the holiness here described. They shall be satisfied with it.
Mt 5:6 Blessed [are] they which do hunger, etc. This implies the same sense of spiritual needs as verses 3 and 4. Hunger is a felt want, in this case a want of righteousness before God, the righteousness that comes from the forgiveness of sins. See Lu 15:17 Mt 5:3,4.
