This have to be my favorite book in the Bible. I love John 14:27 - "Peace I leave with you,my peace I leave unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled; neither let it be afraid". WOW!!!!
There is so many promises in this Book. Jesus has already prepared a place for us. He done went ahead of us to get it ready. He is actually offering us peace. Not as the world give it to us...but HIS peace. And we all know the world can't give us peace like Jesus can.
He letting us know that He will be leaving us, but The Father will send us another Comforter that He will be with us forever...WOW! We are never alone.
In His Father's house is many mansions, He is going to prepare a place for US. WOW! He is letting us know that this place here one earth is only temporialy (misspelled)...He have a better place waiting for us. If we only believe in Him and His Father.
I love this Book. I could go on and on and on. There is so many promises in the whole Bible. But this is one of my favorite Books.
This verse and Mathew Henrey's comentary really is a great gift to me. It defines the individual's relationship to Christ, on earth and eternity. This relationship is personified in the believer and full of the fullest grace that we can accept and trust because he prepares us so we put away any remenants of sadness of our past and go forth living in confidence and enthusiasm.
As Jesus says in this chapter, the Father and I are one, so who better to intercede for us than Jesus himself. When he claims to be "THE way, THE truth, THE life, no one cometh to the Father, but by me", that is an exclusive statement. Meaning that everyone else in history claiming to be A way, or AN intercessor, or having the truth, is excluded and are either lying or deluded. Only a perfect man can present us to a perfect God. Contrary to Catholic religious beliefs, the Pope is not perfect, and is a seed and a descendant of Adam...just like the rest of us. Only those who believe that Jesus was,is, and always will be their only Saviour, that he died, shedding his blood on the cross for us, was buried, and rose again (regardless of denomination) will spend eternity with God in heaven. His last words were "It is finished". Our salvation is whole and complete IN HIM, and HIM only. No other human can, regardless of claims, add to His perfect work. Not Mary, not a pope, not a priest, and certainly not you or I by our own works. Amen!
John 14 clearly is telling us that the father and the son is one. When we opray to Jesus we are praying to God. It is also telling us that there is a prepared place for us. This world is not our home. We have a home not touch or made by man. A home were we will never grow old, no more sickness, pain, diappointment or rejection. A place not contaimated by man or the world.
I think Jesus is tellimg us that we will have comfort in the Holy Ghost, and Jesus is putting Himself equal with the Father.Jesus is the Father and the Father Is Jesus.Jesus gives us hope by saying anything we ask He will do.
