Bible Discussion Thread

    Hey guys,

I'm wanting to work on more verse memorization for soul winning, witnessing, and handing out tracts. I have some verses already memorized, but is there any verses you would recommend? I figured I would memorize the "Romans Road". But, if you have any more suggestions or maybe a favorite verse I'd love to hear those. Thanks!

Hi C.N.C. The 'Romans Road' Scripture set is great for a step-by-step progress in Gospel presentation. However, if you have had some experience in witnessing, whether on the street or in private discussions, following a rigid pattern won't always be the best course.

My only suggestion is that you continue to soak yourself in God's precious Word and study in depth as much as you can. Even if you aren't able to do that, then a careful slow reading of the Scriptures is very useful, so when the opportunity arises (as in sharing the Gospel), the Holy Spirit will bring to your remembrance what He wants you to share. You may not always know where to find those verses (I'm guilty of that), but when the Living Word is alive in your heart, you can be confident that God will bring it to your mind and then for your hearer.

So what I'm suggesting here is that there is no finite set of Scriptures that can be used when in a discussion, since each person has their own questions, hang-ups, doubts, or fears, that require answers from all of the Bible. He may even start on subjects like creation/evolution, God's existence, the Flood, religious bigotry/wars, etc., etc. But with any enquiring mind & questions presented, these are opportunities for the Spirit in you to lead that soul closer to the Truth & then to our Lord Jesus, Who is the Answer to all of life's questions and needs. Of course, your own salvation experience will make the discussion more real to your listener, as you relate how you were just a lost helpless sinner as everyone on Earth is, & what the Lord had taken you through to bring you to an understanding of your need of a Savior, when you could not save yourself to be right with a Holy God.

Dear one, may the Lord bless you in your zeal for Him & be assured of His Presence that will go with you, even as you carry His Word & His Love in your heart for others in desperate need. He will give you boldness & courage to be His witness. Every blessing.
