Very nicely explained by Henry in 1710. This chapter speaks so loud to me that there is a need to share. First, the fact that we all know in Acts what happened in Damascus when Paul was converted. Here Paul uses the words to tell the readers in Spiritual way that He is in fact chosen by Jesus Christ 1:1 and became a servant of Christ 1:10. Paul even certified that he received the gospel 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 not from man, but it is indeed by the revelation of Jesus Christ 1 :10-11. To certify something is indeed really deep in any professions. You investigate, you observe, you speak the truth, you have proven without a shadow of a doubt, you interviews people involved, you have all strong evidence, you even travel to a place to find that true evidence, you rely only on facts and the person that has integrity to tell truth. I guess you get the gist. The fact that he went to Arabia (Mt. Sinai) 1:17 God must have told Paul something that only Paul knows. Remember 2 Corinthians 12:1-4? How can you not think Paul is the 12th Apostle with this evidence? That is why 1 Timothy 2:15 tells us to study. Go figure and look at other Bible other than KJV. They removed the word "study". Folks I am not kidding you. There is something real God is telling us today. I would not lie either about this because I sense the urgency to tell this forum for whatever reason God only knows. Anyway, Paul then saw Peter for 15 days 1:18 and imagined the conversations then between Peter and Paul. In Acts Peter is telling everybody WHO they crucified was God. When the need (or, question) has arisen that requires a response to help one grow in love or in their "walk with God", then yes, there's no need to initiate a discussion/debate on how one understands that this can happen. It will just be opinions on how one has found their love or growth has increased, and this can vary & be specific to each one of us.

And yes, "we don't fight (or even need to fight) for God or His Word"; if by that you mean, that both God & His Word remain eternally consistent & true & what man may offer in contradiction, will never alter the facts. But what happens when the Word is believed but the Truths within it are being compromised, altered, or incorrectly taught? I hear one say, 'don't let that bother you - God is in control - His Word stands sure - His Spirit will guide into all Truth'.

Then why should the apostles have bothered about the health of Christ's Church & be perturbed about false doctrines/teachings entering in? Such as, 2 Peter 2:1-3 (false prophets/teachers); Romans 16:17,18 (wrong doctrine brought in, causing divisions); 2 Timothy 2:17,18 (no future resurrection, destroying the believers' faith); Galatians 1:6-9 (another Gospel); Some of 1st John (refuting Gnostic teaching); core verses in 1 John 2:22,23: "Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? When you see capital letter "W" Word in the Bible it means Jesus Christ. John 1:14. The lower case "w" word means the Bible. You cannot come to God the Father but by Jesus Christ John 14:6-7; For through him (Jesus Christ) we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. Ephesians 2:18; it is a mystery Colossians 2:2-3; God gave to Jesus everything we need to know Revelation 1:1. Amen, good stuff! After reading what you wrote, Romans 16:17 comes to mind, "Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them."



Now I appeal to you, brethren, and listen to this, the command.



Mark them which cause divisions and offences.



The word mark is the work Skopos. We get our word scope from this word. And it in a present participle form in the Greek, which means continue to observe.



Be continually looking at those who cause divisions and offenses, Scandalons, contrary to the doctrine which you have learned.



Paul said in Galatians Chapter 1 that if anybody preaches any other gospel than that which he has preached, let them be accursed.



That's pretty bold and authoritative. If they don't preach. Or if they preach contrary to the doctrine which Paul has taught and has given them, mark them. That's command number one. Command number two is avoid them.



The word avoid means to go out of your way to avoid them. It's the word bend. If you are walking right at somebody, just bend yourself right around them. You give them the message that they are teaching false doctrine.

Luke 16:19-26. The only passage that Jesus Himself talks about where a person goes after he dies. There is Heaven and Hell. I pray all will be saved. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; Romans 3:25; 1 John 2:2; 1 John 4:10.

Yes I understood the same way you do. I just wanted to ensure that we saved as many people on this site. That is why it is important to take time to explain based on the Bible. The Book of Acts is a transitional book. Luke did a magnificent job inspired by God writing the chain of events after Jesus Christ died on the cross. Peter and the rest of the Apostles concentrated on preaching to the Jews, but when they have rejected it three times Paul went to the Gentiles. But Jews and Gentiles today can be saved by the mystery of the Gospel of Paul 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. We are saved by grace through faith. We are baptized by trusting on Jesus Christ's death, burial and resurrection meaning trusting on the blood of Jesus Christ. Christ Jesus already went to the most Holiest of Holy to sprinkle His own blood as the Jews did on earth. So anybody today can be saved by that blood. Once you are saved, the mysteries are revealed by the Holy Spirit. We are the Body of Christ, the Bride of Christ, knowing Christ in you.

The 1st and greatest commandment is to love GOD with all your heart and soul and if you do you would be a good neighbor. Is upon the head of any head of house to protect you family with your life if need be. Would you let a neighbor walk in your home and abuse 1 of your family? I hope you said no.

Paul wrote: Rom 12:18 Many look over "If it is possible" sometimes it just is not possible to get along and you don't ever let someone run over you. If you have a neighbor that does not love GOD and commits egregious acts against you; he cannot be of GOD but of Satan, 2 John 1:7. Do you love Satan? I hope you said no. Anyone that does not fallow the doctrine of CHRIST we are to not so much as wish them a good day 2 John 1:10. We love our enemies only after they have turned from their sins against you and accept doctrine of CHRIST, 2 John 1:9, not until. CHRIST tells us Math. 10:14 if they do not accept doctrine to turn from them, wiping even their dirt off. If they sin against you and repent and ask for forgiveness then you forgive but if they don't then have nothing to do with them until they do.

Leviticus 19:15-:18 GOD tells us what being a good neighbor is. If he is self-professed Christian (brother) and he breaks these rules then scripture tells us to set him aside until he repents and ask for forgiveness. If he doesn't then vengeance is the Lords. You will be blessed while he has to watch; perhaps he eventually comes to senses an wants the good life you have. But if you are unlucky to get an evil neighbor you best be on guard, Christians are not 2nd class citizens where we allow to be stepped on.

Diane by no means do you put up with abuse of any kind. You are a child of GOD, a Christian; not a 2nd class citizen and Christians should never let anyone walk on them. In Mathew 18:15-:20 you admonish them showing them the error of their way and if they don't ask for forgiveness and repent than rebuke them and set them aside ( Romans 16:17). That means don't hang out with them, putting yourself through any chance for abuse, don't hate them but be pleasant like it doesn't bother you, live your life as a Christian who will be blessed. When they see how good your life is, then they will want it too. These people you are talking about do not sound like Christians to me, if they were they would not abuse. Therefore you do not put up with them but put them aside until/if they have a change of heart. Yes love your enemies if they have turned from their ways and accepted CHRIST. Talk to them and tell them how you feel if that does no good then live in peace and harmony knowing their sin is not on you. 2 Thessalonians 3:6-:14 Luke 17:3,4. Someone has to ask for forgiveness to receive it. When that happens they must repent and have a complete change of heart, making a commitment to never do it again. You are under no obligation to forgive one that does not come to you and ask. But for your own health, in your own heart it is better that you do and move on, because it will turn to hate and bitterness where the devil will sneak in.

Mark 9:41:- For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.

Romans 16:13:- Salute Rufus chosen in the Lord, and his mother and mine.

Who is this Rufus? Why do we consider him?

Rufus is the best example, the promise given by Jesus Christ himself is still in effect. Rufus is a Son of Simon a Cyrenian who bore Christ's cross for a while ( Mark 9:41, 15:21). It is the true and greatest joy for Simon a Cyrenian to know his Son found Christ and saved and has a notable place in Paul's Salute. ( 3 John 1:4)

The Apostle Paul ( Romans 1:1), who was originally named Saul ( Acts 7:58) of Tarsus ( Acts 22:3), but eventually became known as Paul ( Acts 13:9), dictated the letter to Tertius ( Romans 16:22). The account of most of what is known about his life story was written about by Luke in the Book of Acts. Acts 7:58-60, Acts 8:1-4, Acts 9:1-31, Acts 11:25-30, Acts 12:24-25, Acts 13 to Acts 28.

The Apostle Paul is recognized as the author of most of the Epistles (Apostolic letters) in the New Testament, which include Romans, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, Galatians. Ephesians. Philippians, Colossians, 1 Thessalonians, 2 Thessalonians, 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, Titus and Philemon. Some also consider him the author of Hebrews, but the authorship of that book is not known for sure.

Peter also speaks about Paul in 2 Peter 3:15-16.

The old points to the new, a shadow of things that would and will come, our savior Jesus Christ.

The old strengthens our faith by showing us scriptures that have been fulfilled.

Romans 16:26 But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:

The old shows us that God keeps His promises.

Romans 1:2 Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures.

It shows us that Jesus is the Christ.

Acts 18:28 For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publickly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.

Matthew 13:52 Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.

Both are needed.

In light of much of today's erroneous doctrine; particularly occurring among female megapastors (sometimes in conjunction with their husbands) we can perhaps better appreciate Paul's admonition that a woman not teach or exercise authority over a man ( 1 Tim 2:12). There were certain protocols or roles that exemplify the elder/pastor; deacon; and Bishop as to personal behavior to qualify for the position and the way the job was to be carried out. In 1 Cor. 11 verse 2:16 we see that women WOULD pray and prophesy (apparently related to public worship). The instruction for head covering indicates submission to men and relates to their role with the church; some of which seems rather mysterious related to the angels and glory. As for a Deacon; apparently Romans 16:1 indicates that indeed Phoebe was in such a position AND commended by Paul. Since this word also translates "servant"; the role could signify a different sort of role here. It should also be remembered that the admonitions seen in the above verses and elsewhere mention the church as the emphasis; there are other verses indicating the way a woman is to submit in silence outside the church with their husbands. Given the instructions of women Titus 2 indicates women are to teach what is good and other verses (including some in the Old Testament Psalms and Proverbs) show wisdom given from mothers as well. There is an exception somewhere where a woman instructs a man (I believe it is Lydia and Barnabus) in the matter of the Holy Spirit and correct teaching since his understanding of the role in the time of John the Baptist.

I can't seem to find it; but again this would be a private matter outside church worship. However; a believing wife could explain the way of salvation to her husband; provided she is still submissive in any way that would not damage her living for the Lord. It would seem the best way to reach another spouse generally is by example of behavior of a believer to the nonbeliever.
