Discuss Romans 12

Dpaulw. I believe that Jeremiah 10:1-5 does speak about idolatry, which indicates that they worshiped the work of their hands. The idolaters deck out their tree with silver and gold, but verse 5 tells us that these trees cannot speak, must be carried & cannot move; neither can they do good or evil. Why would a tree be set up and decorated and then the prophet speaks about the inabilities of the tree? Simply because the idol (the tree) is set up for a purpose - an idol to be worshiped - all of man's doing. We also get information on this type of behavior in Psalms 115:4-8 and Isaiah 44:13-17. What we read in these verses do not describe those who set up a Xmas tree; i.e. this tree is not idolized nor worshiped.

Their origins might appear dubious, and the reasons or need for such a tree to remember our Lord's Birth mystifying, but can one truly find any Scripture to show such an act as sinful? As mentioned earlier, I don't recognize or celebrate Xmas (or Easter) as I don't see any biblical warrant to do so, and participating at the Lord's Table is sufficient for me for a corporate remembrance of His Coming & Work of Salvation. Yet, for those who do recognize the day, I do not find any biblical authority to condemn them and they will have to judge for themselves the correct understanding and practise of this occasion. As well, I don't believe that Romans 12:2 and 2 Corinthians 6:17 can be applied here. What was in the apostle's mind seems to be of greater import than a Xmas tree being set up.

    In addition to your response:

-- Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but **be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind,** that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Having trouble with sinful or lustful thoughts, it is due to having the desire to follow the flesh, being a babe in Christ. We have to mature by renewing our thoughts and desires. Men have freewill of desire, inclination, passion, aspirations, motivations, intentions, likes, dislikes, loves, hatreds. what we would like to do or would do if we could get away with it. We have the power to direct, command, our hearts and put down the flesh. We have to change those desires through our love and knowledge of the Lord. "The love of Christ constraineth us;" 2 Cor 5:14. This is done through the knowledge of God's word through the reading and diligent study of the Bible; "Let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me."

To the chagrin of some, the Lord does not change our freewill desires, we have to. We have to arm ourselves with the weapons to do so, the word of God, growing in faith and understanding. There are things that come with salvation that we have no control over, others we not only have control but the responsibility for. From Romans 12 through the rest of Pau's writings, 90% of what he says it telling us what we are to do and not do: how to act, talk, dress, wear our hair, what to think, etc. Our Christian life is under our control and guided by our heart's desires. The Devil does not make us do anything, he plays to our desires. It is our responsibility to command our hearts to follow the Spirit within us rather than the lust of the flesh.

One thing we must control is our emotions. They must be guided by the Spirit and truth and not the lust of the flesh. There are many things we get wrong due to wrongly directed emotions, fleshy emotions instead of led by the Spirit.

Much could be said, but I am out of characters

Good morning. I'm not usually the most bright eyed "bushy tailed" specimen on the planet; but the joy of the Lord is my strength ( Nehemiah 8:10).

I thought I would say in general right out of the gate as it were that it isn't focusing on evil or warnings of God constantly that I want to pummel people with. We are generally instructed to rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. ( Romans 12:15). It is simply for those already saved; sealed and being sanctified we need to hear the bad news just like we do before we are saved; not as to our eternal state being in jeopardy (if truly saved) but in terms of the opposition we should expect as faithful servants of the King of Kings.

A particular issue I have brought up recently illustrates what is a common practice; people have their opinions and ideas which they often put above scripture as a first response. I'd rather have a disagreement based on a study of God's Word than such presuppositions; I put case in point the remarriage issue; but we could no doubt expand it to anything. Give covetousness. Ephesians 5:5 says this: For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. (Notice that someone covetous is involved with idolatry; whether it a narcissistic worship of self or self-aggrandizement of those promoting a double standard with the lifestyle of a Pastor; for instance. And that is a major issue: the lifestyle a person displays (you know them by their fruits) ( Matthew 7:16). The policy for discipline of a person in the local church congregation is not indicative of complete foreknowledge of whether someone truly will repent; but if one is saved the Lord will use such discipline to correct; and in any case we are in that sense to act as shepherds over a flock if in leadership and hopefully jealous for His Name's sake that others won't be led astray.

    Maranatha.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

I'm going to now focus on what should be expected within the Body of Christ. I will start with a question. Do we want others to sharpen us as "iron sharpens iron" ( Prov. 27:17)? God uses people in order to help exhort; rebuke etc. as 2 Timothy 4:2 reminds us-Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

This; my friends means within the body of believers to help with God's sanctification plan for us. The job of elders is supposed to be aiding with instruction and correct doctrine; sadly it seems many in this role from my experience seem to be invested in secluded prayers with the Pastor; or business roles and rather estranged from the rest of the congregation. We shouldn't wait; of course as some do for some instruction to us personally from the Pastor who normally preaches if we see another in need of growth or maturity. This is why discussion of the Word (and by no means the only reason for it) to be a prime event in our church fellowship. That; sadly is NOT what I have heard in my church lately amongst other issues. It has become time to move on; even though I have some other events I am attending other than the Sunday service that I'm still involved with for the time being.

I have also learned that once a congregation gets to a certain point with apathy they simply won't do anything to get out of a lukewarm state. Any pleading with admonitions from scripture either brings the usual "live by grace"; or "log in your eye" response and the Word is either dismissed or ignored. A healthy rebuke to an issue even disagreement is better than just accepting the status quo of whatever is being taught or accepted. I hope no one else goes through this; but it seems a candlestick going out isn't an issue

Hello Lbooth1955. You've received good replies, to which I also agree. However, in attempting to read deeper into your brief question and what prompted it, I wondered, 'were you referring to the actual time that Christ called them 'apostles' and other references to that name, or to the time post-resurrection and Pentecost, when these apostles were without their Lord present & began to do all that they were taught and commanded to do'?

So if your question was to the first part of my thoughts, then Scriptures such as Luke 6:13, Matthew 10:2, Mark 6:30, Luke 22:14, and others show to me that these disciples (Gk. learner, pupil) also named apostles (Gk. messenger, one sent out), though dear to the Heart of the Lord, were by no means a part of the Body of Christ (as we understand this Body that was later formed, Romans 12:5). While they remained & served under the Old Covenant they were simply a motley group of individuals, specially selected by Jesus to learn, to experience the Son of God first-hand, and to increase in faith and love, so that when they would be transformed & "endued with power from on high", they would be the very first 'founding members' upon which the Church (the Body of Christ) would be built upon ( Ephesians 2:20).

In summary, under the Old Covenant, though called 'apostles', these men were not "included in the Body of Christ". But when the New Covenant in Christ's Blood was ushered in and all who came in faith trusting in that Sacrifice wholly for salvation, those apostles were indeed the very first to be included into Christ's Body, the Church; and upon which we stand today, or ought to stand, without any reference to the Old Covenants, Laws, and ceremonial requirements, which ended at the Cross ( Romans 10:4,5). Thus apostolic teaching remains very relevant to us now and does our Lord's; when these are altered, as some 'churches' have done, devising their own doctrines, they declare that the apostles are irrelevant even denying their Lord. GBU.

    On Anointing of God

This is a very relevant question of the era. God's anointment simply means God's Call. If you have accepted Christ as your savior, it shows that God had known you even before you were born and had arranged everything for your physical and spiritual growth. In other words, you have been anointed by God, with a divine purpose: that is, to share Eternal Life with Him! If He has called you, and if you have accepted the call, He will empower you to serve him and bring others too to Christ.

Aim at bringing your spouse to Christ. It is not so easy as it seems. To preach gospel is easy; but to love your wife / husband as Christ loved you may be something difficult to perform ( Ephesians 5:25). One can act a few rounds, but you cannot hold on long, without experiencing Christ's love and anointing yourselves, first! It requires extreme patience, long suffering and much humiliation ( 1Peter 3:7). You are called to be a 'living sacrifice' acceptable to God ( Romans 12:1). Then you may be able to bring your children to Him. God anoints us to be good husband, good wife, good mother, good father and good children.

May God empower you to undertake this glorious call.

The Bible generally discourages marking the body, such as tattoos or self-inflicted cuts, particularly in the Old Testament, as seen in Leviticus 19:28, which forbids cutting the flesh for the dead or making marks on oneself. While the New Testament does not directly address tattoos, it emphasizes that believers' bodies belong to God and should honor Him. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 declares that the body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and, having been purchased by Christ, should glorify God. Romans 12:1 calls believers to present their bodies as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable to God. 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 reinforces that defiling the body, God's temple, is a serious offense. Other passages, like Philippians 1:20, 2 Corinthians 7:1, and 1 Thessalonians 4:4, urge believers to pursue holiness, sanctification, and honor in their physical lives. Together, these scriptures highlight that while the Old Testament prohibits certain bodily markings, the overarching biblical principle for all believers is to treat the body as God's dwelling and use it to glorify Him in every way.

    Transformation

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

The concept of Predestination places the initial work of salvation as a time when repentance is granted ( 2 Tim. 2:25 and several other passages); which is followed by sanctification. Some have said (in rather bad language form) that our "wanter" is changed.

The idea is that our desires IF saved become His desires; thus the struggle begins between the Spirit and the flesh.

    Galatians 5:17-25

17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

We also read in Ephesians 4:30

And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Again; I know this is a repeated theme on my part but we can't be grieving something we don't have; so that if there isn't a continuing process and desire to repent and change then sanctification is at question and we need to test ourselves to see if we are in the faith ( 2 Cor. 13:5).

It's off to work I go.

    Lbooth1955,

Tithing is very good, if it helps towards building up the real church, the body of Christ. Tith is only one- tenth; But what about the remaining 9? ( Luke 17:17).

We are created in God's image and we bear Christ's name and seal on us ( Matthew 22:19-21). We are requested to offer ourselves (fully, not one- tenth) as a living sacrifice to God ( Romans 12:1). Then the people in our contacts may get the message of the Good News and turn to God. To live a Christian life (means complete surrender to His will) is the way to win our dear ones for Christ ( 1 Peter 3:1-2) The Cross may be heavy, but the end is glorious beyond imagination ( Psalms 126:5)

    Hello Friends,

    Part 1

Have we always paid close attention to these many warnings?

Over the years, we tend to make things more complicated, and in doing so, we often forget or set aside certain biblical studies that once stirred our hearts - those moments when Scripture made our eyes open wide and led us to meditate deeply throughout the day.

One example that had been tucked away in my drawer, and which I now find fitting to bring up, is the passage where Jesus speaks to the Pharisees about the importance of changed behavior.

If there is no change in behavior, there is no true transformation. And that change begins in our consciousness.

There's a verse I love that says we should not conform to this world ( Romans 12:2). Sometimes, we think that "this world" refers only to what's outside of us - the external system. But there is also a world inside of us.

Do not conform to the worldly way you're thinking. Transformation must always begin within. I begin to agree with certain ideas, and from there, I start to feel and act accordingly. So, this is where the change must happen.

And what must change? The thought, the direction, the way we think.

It is the Word that confronts us - it is our living library.

At the very least, if you "turn on the radio," so to speak - if you choose to be attentive to the world around you - you'll be able to live alongside the sins of others without being desensitized. You'll also see how destructive these patterns are, for them and maybe even for you.

You don't have to destroy yourself to gain this awareness - I'm not recommending that, obviously - but you will begin to perceive the depth of human emotion, of how the human psyche works.

    Hello Friends,

    Any thoughts?

    Right Division ( 2 Timothy 2:15)

The Church, the Body of Christ, is distinct from the Bride of Christ-a truth revealed uniquely through the Apostle Paul under the dispensation of grace. While traditional teaching often blends Israel's prophetic promises with the Church's heavenly calling, a right division ( 2 Timothy 2:15) reveals that believers today, saved by grace through faith alone ( Ephesians 2:8-9), are part of a new creation: the Body of Christ ( 1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Romans 12:5).

Paul never refers to the Church as the "Bride of Christ." Instead, he consistently identifies the Church as a body in which Christ is the Head ( Ephesians 1:22-23; Colossians 1:18). This organism is spiritual, made up of both Jew and Gentile, reconciled into one new man ( Ephesians 2:15-16). This unity was a "mystery" kept hidden from ages past ( Colossians 1:26; Ephesians 3:1-6), never prophesied or associated with Israel's covenantal promises.

In contrast, the bride metaphor is rooted in prophecy and tied to Israel. Revelation 21:9-10 calls the New Jerusalem "the bride, the Lamb's wife," a city prepared for redeemed Israel ( Isaiah 62:4-5; Hosea 2:19-20). John the Baptist called himself a "friend of the bridegroom" ( John 3:29), which places him outside the bride. Paul, while using marriage as a metaphor in Ephesians 5, still emphasizes the Body-not a bride-saying, "We are members of His body, of His flesh, and of His bones" ( Ephesians 5:30). The analogy teaches love and unity, not identity.

Confusing the Bride with the Body blends Israel's earthly hope with the Church's heavenly calling ( Philippians 3:20). We are not awaiting a wedding ceremony, but rather a catching away ( 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17) to appear with Christ in glory. As members of His Body, we are already spiritually one with Him ( 1 Corinthians 6:17). Understanding this distinction preserves the truth of God's separate programs for Israel and the Church.

    Proverbs 30:11-14

11There is a generation of those who curse their fathers

and do not bless their mothers.

12There is a generation of those who are pure in their own eyes

and yet unwashed of their filth.

13There is a generation-how haughty are their eyes

    and pretentious are their glances-

14there is a generation whose teeth are swords

    and whose jaws are knives,

devouring the oppressed from the earth

and the needy from among men.

Pretty fair summation of today; I would say.

I have spent a fair amount of time recently in discussing judgment in the house of God; not so much in general of those who are unbelievers. OF couse we have to stop and think about behaviors that are uncomely to God's people. James 3:10 states:

Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. The world holds the church up to the standard it professes; while the world is expected; more or less to behave badly. Such an assumption is naive at best; and can keep us from reaching very kind individuals assuming they aren't in spiritual danger and focus on opposition with this logic.

More precisely; it is the master who is the conductor of our lives and as Jesus stated we cannot serve two masters. Jesus Himself said "forgive them because they know not what they're doing" in Luke 23:34 as well as Acts 7:60 when Stephen was being stoned after his heavenly vision of Christ standing on the throne. It may well have been a reminder from Christ Himself as his spirit departed to do the same. At any rate; the world is under bondage from the enemy but a truly saved individual isn't. Despite this; of course the enemy will try to accuse and convince someone that they are useless for the Lord and indeed if there is a stronghold of sin it is sufficient for him to maintain; with glee no doubt whatever power the particular minion has over a person.

So unconditional love helps us to overcome evil with good ( Romans 12:21). Otherwise we're toast.

    Let's consider this.

What would happen if a layperson would steal from the offering plate? Suppose it was a church member. I think it is safe to say they would receive a much more severe repercussion than some of today's megachurch pastors if we can call them that who are unaccountable for millions of dollars at times of funds.

I won't mention any names here; but again with any other issue a layperson should be and in fact is responsible to say something when those in leadership are bilking a congregation; not spending funds on what they promise or using unjust techniques to "borrow from Peter to pay for Paul" as the old saying goes.

We are told in Corinthians that the church should judge matters themselves (In 1 Cor. 11:13 it is involving women's coverings); but we are not supposed to sue one another ( 1 Cor. 6:1-11). The concept of letting ourselves be defrauded in verse 7 of this passage only goes so far. We are responsible for God's house and certainly should be defending OTHER members who are bilked. Yes; I will go so far as to say that a congregation should be paid BACK if fraud exists at least if things do get to civil courts; handled within again they should be kicked out permanently from leadership. The same concept exists for a child molester; something I hate to even bring up but abuse is everywhere; and in that case of a person's safety legal action should occur. It isn't that we live by the law the same way the world does; but we cannot have a double standard and have to demonstrate righteousness and not even a hint of evil; read Ephesians 5:3.

Those spiritually mature should be able to avoid situations where they are taken advantage of this way; and not fall for some get rich scheme or having their ears tickled. The true church overcomes evil with good ( Romans 12:21). When we seem to find more fair and impartial scriptural knowledge from artificial intelligence than is preached in many churches we know something ain't right.

    1 Peter 3:18-20: Part 2

We see two places where angels are chained in darkness: 2 Peter 2:4-5 and Jude 1:6. To me, this is a prison, a confinement area, as we see in Revelation 9, 11, 17, and 20. These angels did not keep their original estate or position and left their own dwelling place. These angels were disobedient to God, as seen in Genesis 6:1-2. There are fallen angels, demons, and devils on this earth, but what these angels did was so terrible that God locked them in the bottomless pit until the great day of judgment.

In Ephesians 4:8-10, there is another reference; verses 9-10 are debated depending on the manuscript. They say that before Jesus ascended to heaven, He first descended to the lower parts of the earth. Paul quotes Psalm 68:18, which describes the ark ascending to Mount Zion, leading captivity captive, symbolizing deliverance. Also, in Judges 5:12, part of Deborah's song, it states, "led thy captivity captive," meaning victory over oppression.

The same theme appears in Ephesians 4:8, victory over sin, death, and the grave through the life, sacrifice, death, and resurrection of Jesus, as referenced in Galatians 1:4 and 1 Corinthians 15:52-55. We also see the gifts given in Ephesians 4:11, Romans 12:4-8, and 1 Corinthians 12:4-11.

When Jesus was resurrected, God placed Him above all, as shown in Philippians 2:9-11, Ephesians 1:19-21, and 1 Peter 3:22. Satan, just like the leaders of Jerusalem, thought that when the Messiah came, He would immediately deliver them and establish His kingdom at that time, the expectation not yet fulfilled. When Satan influenced Judas to betray Jesus to death, he thought he had won.

he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness. (end of Romans 12:8)

When we look at mercy; or compassion and related service there really is no detail that we can grasp as how to demonstrate this virtue. Prophecy has the evidence of a specific prediction and verification of an event; teaching has scripture and related facts that can be expounded; tongues has specific rules in great detail as to when and how to apply and interpret; etc. Many will list the attributes along with expected tendencies for getting spiritually derailed if not balanced; particularly with this gift but we have to avoid subjectivity here.

Jude verses 20:23 But you, beloved, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, 21keep yourselves in the love of God as you await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you eternal life.

22And indeed, have mercy on those who doubt; 23save others by snatching them from the fire; and to still others show mercy tempered with fear, hating even the clothing stained by the flesh.

It behooves us to study this more detailed application of mercy (although it isn't defined as a spiritual gift in this passage).

First we see perseverence and the reward that comes through such actions as stated elsewhere in scripture as a backdrop.

The mercy here is sort of like it was for Noah or Lot; God would deliver us before the wrath to come on the earth to present ourselves in a new body; and without spot or wrinkle should we be qualified to be in the Rapture as I see it; others may disagree.

The second verse has been traditionally interpreted as ministering to those who are in the church but perhaps immature; but certainly it could extend to those seeking the truth. The next verse (23) indicates an interesting and perhaps most poignant point for discussion; that of the fear of God and not wanting to associate ourselves with the sins of others and be tempted ourselves. The fear of the Lord should motivate mercy not merely emotions

    Extrabiblical statements: Part 4

As we dive into this topic further, I want to remind the audience that as we approach the end or consummation of this present age we will see the proclamations of truly Holy Spirit filled believers and false prophets line up more and more because the facts are clear; Revelation and its judgments are about to commence and whether it will be under God's protection ( Psalm 91:4) or under His wrath depends on our spiritual state at the time. It is how we interpret events that reveals where our heart is; and sadly many concepts such as Dominionism and full Preterism can be toxic doctrines that inevitably will make many of these individuals believe that Antichrist is actually Christ. Success is defined as power and influence in society according to these mindsets something no doubt Satan desires along with worship of himself. What part of Christ's proclamation my Kingdom is not of this world lest my servants fight ( John 18:36). What part of His self sacrificial life and death that occured immediately after this statement during one of His trials before crucifixion don't some people undestsand? Therefore it is safe to say that those trying to conform this world in this way ignore the verse where it says we should be transformed by the renewing of our minds. ( Romans 12:2). As I have said in other postings before; there is a valid point bought out by some of this mindset; that as long as His church remains the gates of hell cannot prevail against it; and even with most lukewarm or doctrinally compromised His remnant has a duty and responsibility to continue to work the harvest to fulfill the task of making Disciples and being in His service until He comes. We need to soberly assess the time we are in when many are predicted to fall away (See 1 Timothy 4:1); and eventually the admonition of Matthew 24:10 will be fulfilled on a global scale as the Tribulation saints will be martyred wherever they are.

I've been thinking - perhaps more than usual - about what it means to belong, not to a family or a name, but to a larger, invisible Body, of which Christ is the head. Colossians 1:18

I don't think it's just a poetic metaphor, but a call to a more demanding reality: that my actions should serve others, not just me. 1 Corinthians 12:22

There are members who are more visible and others who are more hidden. Not all stand out, but all are necessary. 1 Peter 4:13

To be part of the Body of Christ is to be used - not in the sense of wear and tear, but of purpose. It's knowing that even in modesty,

we can't all be eyes, nor all hands - and yet, as for His affliction for us to share in

I've been thinking that, if we really are the Body of Christ, then harmony lies not in equality of function, but in unity of heart.

It is precisely when each one faithfully fulfills their part - large or small, visible or not - that there is health and life among the members. 1 Corinthians 12:18

    Being moderate doesn't mean being less useful;

Romans 12:4-5 - how beautiful it is to think that we are not alone - that we are part of something living, pulsating, eternal! Ephesians 4:16

To be part of the Body of Christ is to love without demanding a return, to serve even when the world doesn't see, to sing putting Him, our Jesus Christ, at the center. 1 Corinthians 12:25-26

Spiritual legacy is not enforced through authority, but planted through love, consistency, and a life lived daily on the altar of intimacy with God.

Psalm 51:17 - "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise."

John 4:23-24 - "But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth..." Psalm 19:14 - "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord..."

Romans 12:11 - "Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord."

I know you already live this - and more than ever, I'm beginning to truly understand it too.May we be like songs that bring joy to His heart. May our hearts burn for Him.

I love you in Christ Jesus.

As beautiful as a worship song may be, if there is no truth in the heart, it means nothing. As C.S. Lewis once said: "God doesn't want something from us. He wants us." It's not the well-crafted words that touch heaven, but the broken and sincere heart. The poet Dietrich Bonhoeffer once wrote: "He who loves God sincerely does not need to raise his voice, for heaven recognizes the silence of a surrendered heart."

Romans 12:9 - "Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good."

1 Corinthians 13:1-2 - "If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong..."

Matthew 15:8 - "These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me."

Many posts on social media say things like: "It's not enough to lift your hands - lift your soul too." Or: "God doesn't hear performance, He hears surrender." And that's the truth. The worship that pleases the Father doesn't come from musical technique or aesthetics, but from a real love that burns deep within. As Joan Osborne once sang: "Worship is not a sound - it's a life on fire." May our lives sing louder than our lips.

As for today's generation, it's important to understand that they were "configured" in a completely different world than the one that shaped our parents. Children today grow up connected - exposed to information, a variety of ideas, freedom of speech, and endless cultural references. This builds a more critical awareness, but it also leads to emotional overload, constant comparison, and early existential confusion. It's not simply rebellion or spiritual disinterest - it's a heart searching for rhythm in a noisy world.

While many parents were raised with quiet obedience and inherited faith, today's youth are looking for faith that is lived with meaning, not imposed. This isn't rejection - it's a thirst for authenticity. That's why parents who wish to pass on their faith need more than tradition - they need to be living testimonies. Sorry a long cont.

    Dear GiGi,

This topic has been coming to light more and more in recent years. I've become deeply interested in the relationship between parents and their children - especially when it comes to their spiritual walk. It's a delicate matter. The Old Testament is far from outdated - it's very much alive.

Today we see this reflected in the church, or even in the personal walk of believers who are close to God, trying to pass on a spiritual inheritance after years of faith and service. Many want to pass down mantles and vows made to God, believing that their children are automatically called to continue them. But the calling of God is personal, even if it is born in a consecrated environment.

Thinking about your concern, I don't have children yet - but I reflect on this often: have you presented your children to the Lord?If you did so while they were still young, may the flame never go out. If not, and they are now conscious adults, may they come to know that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life - and that they themselves are the altar.

Leviticus 6:13 - "The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out." 1 Corinthians 3:16 - "Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?" Romans 12:1 - "...present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship."

We must not allow family faith to become something temporary - full of empty tears and no revival. Faith must be cultivated with perseverance, sincere prayer, and intimacy with God.

Isaiah 29:13 - "These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me..." Amos 5:23-24 - "Take away from me the noise of your songs... But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream."

May our love for Christ not be fake, like a trade for blessings, children, a spouse, a home, etc.

Lord Jesus, You are the God of peace, unity, and new beginnings. I lift up my daughters to You: each walking through a huge life change, each carrying their own hopes, fears, and history. Would You come into their relationship like oil in the cracks, softening tension, healing old wounds, and making space for love to flow freely again? I decree it so and I thank You! Oh Jesus Christ, Protect their bond, Oh Lord, Let grace rise higher than anxiety, and empathy speak louder than past hurts. Teach them to see each other not through old memories, but through new mercy. I also lift up this precious baby on the way, and the wedding day. Cover the reception in peace. Let joy fill the room, not pressure. Let every little sound be met with love, not stress. Let the baby be a symbol of life moving forward, and not a point of fear or division. Surround my family with laughter, warmth, and unexpected ease. Let this wedding reception and wedding be a celebration of love in every form: marriage, motherhood, sisterhood. And let peace reign. In Jesus' Mighty and Powerful Name, Amen! Praise God!

I decree and declare and proclaim these verses over them and the whole situation: in Jesus Mighty Name:

    Romans 12:18

If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

    Colossians 3:13-14

Bear with each other and forgive one another And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

    Psalm 133:1

How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity!

    Proverbs 31:26

She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.

    Psalm 127:3

Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him.

In Jesus Mighty Name it is done, Amen and Hallelujah!!!

Father God, in Jesus' mighty Name, I declare and decree and proclaim that my son in law: CS, is fully and has been fully, and will continue to be forever delivered from every lie, from smoking, cheating, laziness, and false appearances. Lord, remove all deceit from him and create in him a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within him ( Psalm 51:10). I pray his mind is transformed by the renewing power of Your Word ( Romans 12:2), and that he walks in integrity behind closed doors and in the open.

God, thank You for his job at the senior home. May he work there for decades with excellence and favor, and not lose this opportunity. Lord, keep him safe as he travels to and from work, fully insured and with affordable insurance, Lord thank You for blessing him with a reliable car he can afford and that will last him a very long time, thank You Lord for KEEPING CS FAITHFUL AND TRUTHFUL TO HIS WIFE: MY DAUGHTER A.S.,now and ALWAYS, hallelujah in Jesus Name, Let him give You all the glory in every area of provision and obedience. In Jesus' Name, Amen and Hallelujah!

    Hello!

The Word of God is perfect, and there is no way to escape it.

His protection is as near as the very breath of life Genesis 2:7.I'm grateful for being able to share Bible studies, I also have a blog-it's not about Bible reflections, it's more of a personal hobby, but there is a verse inspira in my profession, that directly relates to it and always comes to my mind: "There is no speech nor language where His voice is not heard."I enjoy learning new words and texts, but as you mentioned (systematically), I must not get lost in philosophies.Yesterday, for example, I learned the word metaresiophobia.

It comes from Greek roots: Meta = change; Aresio from the verb "aresk" = to please, to adjust; Phobos = fear.In the Bible, we see that God does not change Malachi 3:6, but we must be continually transformed to be shaped into the image of Christ Romans 12:2.

Sometimes, I need to admonish myself and ask: am I really talking to an AI?Now, in my native language, I make a personal analogy with the word "admoestao" admonition, dividing it phonetically as: "admo" like "admonition" + "estacao" which means "season" or "station" in English.

This division is not technical, but phonetic and symbolic. To me, it's as if an "admoestacao" is a warning that comes in the right season - in other words, at the right time 2 Timothy 4:2.

I know, deep down, sometimes my fear isn't about change itself, but about accepting what is new - like learning a new language or facing situations that take me out of my comfort zone. But God is sovereign, and Daniel already warned us about the days when knowledge would increase rapidly Daniel 12:4.

Romans 12:21 states Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. I'm not sure if that is KJV but close enough...

Obviously the idea of forgiveness as stated with your other response to prayer is needed; there are many scriptures in that subject such as forgiving seven times seventy in the Gospels.

My discernment leads me to stating that there appear to be several things missing in your attempt to find relief for these thoughts. First of all; it is by His love; or Agape that we overcome and that brings healing- Isaiah 53:5; with His stripes we are healed!

Secondly; you are given the tools to serve those who "despitefully use you". ( Luke 6:28). This does not mean that you should continue to surround yourself with people that are physically or mentally abusive if it can be avoided. I pray that He delivers you from that.

Third; you need to guard against whatever vices and demonic influences the other people have that in turn can affect you. Satan comes to kill steal and destroy. You are called to set free those who the Lord places in your path; if they will not accept that then eventually you will be delivered from them.

Of course we need to keep in mind that vengeance is mine; I shall repay. ( Romans 12:19). Obviously if they hated Christ first they will also hate us as Jesus warned. Those who reject Christ are enemies of God. It is wickedness that is done in the house of God that needs to be dealt with directly; as we are supposed to be the standardbearers of truth. This is one way that so much evil has come into this society because so much is tolerated; we know that judgment begins in the house of God ( 1 Peter 4:17-19). We can speak out as the Spirit leads in warning and exhortation of judgment to come.

I will keep you in prayer and ask you for deliverance from these thoughts and the control it seems to have so you can be set free.

    Agape. Rich P

now that i "know" christ's love Ephesians 2:19 Corinthians 3:4-7 and the whole book of Colossians

    Shall we analyse?

    Remember the song

Christ is the portrait of God - Colossians 1:15

    Before he was born

He did justice and in himself he died

    Supremacy and thrones are

    They are yours - Colossians 1: 16-17

    And that thread that broke

From my soul to God - Colossians 1:21

    The holy blood sewed

Christ and his lines of love - Colossians 1: 20

And now a man made I

    Can in man see God

Have peace, live, walk and be

Made me a friend in his pouring out - John 15:15

When we were targets of God's wrath now we have Peace with God - Romans 5:1

I have a doubt that you probably theologians (formal or deep self-taught), show me if there is something I missed.

to go to church or not to go to church?

1 Thessalonians 5:11, 1 Peter 4:9, Psalms 133:1-3, Galatians 5:13. all these chapters do not speak of the church that is of my generation, Hebrews 10:24-25 this verse speaks of the mutual congregation.

    continuing Romans 12:10, Ephesians 4:32, Acts 2:41-47, 1 John 1:6-7, 2 Corinthians 13:11, 1 Peter 1:22, Colossians 3:16, Philippians 2:1-2, John 13:34, Ecclesiastes 4:9-12, Psalm 55:14. I keep reading and re-reading Romans 12 and I wonder if it's in everyday life or gathered with the church.

    Thank you very much!

    Interpreting scripture: Part 4 balance

I thought it prudent to mention my friend after mentioning a letter I was just about to write to my cousin advised me to wait a bit until my Aunt passes then decline the service if I am invited. I am stating this because there is a balance not only between trying to be peaceable with all men ( Romans 12:18-19) when we can and not being ashamed of the Gospel; but also not trying to anticipate negative reactions or always be proactive to avoid anticipated conflicts. My friend helped me to consider this matter; although I am sure I will have to face it if the Lord tarries.

Understanding different challenges the Lord gave to different individuals helps; one person was asked to give up ALL he had to follow Christ; while Zaccheus only volunteered to give a portion of what he had to anyone he defrauded and half to the poor if I remember it right. In this case we had an individual who self righteously followed all the law and on the exterior maybe he did; pride in his own strength was his downfall because money was this rich man's security. For Zaccheaus though he was ready to live a lifestyle indicating repentance that demonstrated true faith.

Of course the concepts of Predestination and "Free Will" are one of the most common areas of friction. I would argue both are indicated in scripture and God can be a big enough God to not have His plan thwarted by allowing His Creation to be able to make their own decisions. Predestination has several layers; some of which relate to National Israel and God's Covenants while others relate to the salvation of specific individuals. Whether one believes in what is known as "double predestination" or people created who are determined ahead to be lost I won't argue with; nonetheless God knows ahead of time the fate of all men no matter how you slice it. If He is patient with vessels fitted for destruction ( Rom. 9:22) for their sake; or for our sanctification this is a true fact.

Will God give us a new body ? ? Will it be like Jesus body and will we be 33 years old ? ?

    Philippians 3:21

Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

We are one body with Christ Jesus.

    Romans 12:5

So we, being many, are onebodyinChrist, and every one members oneofanother.

We are going to be judged according to what we did with our earthly body for the Lord Jesus Christ.

    2 Corinthians 5:10

For we must all appear before the judgment seatofChrist; that every one may receive the things done in hisbody, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

We don't have a new body until we die or be taken up in the clouds to meet Jesus Christ. We only have the Holy Spirit living inside us. We are still sinners, but sin less .

    1 Corinthians 6:19-20

What? know ye not that your body is thetempleof the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Time is running out, Jesus Christ will call us up .

    Romans 16:20

AndtheGod of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly.Thegrace of ourLordJesus Christbewithyou. Amen.

God bless us all in the Gospel of Grace.

Ray, in Christ Jesus 1 Corinthians 15:1-4

One day, we will have a new body.

Why should we be " in Christ " ? ? Who invented " in Christ " ? Are special people become " in Christ " ?

When Jesus died and was Resurrected, He took the Saints from the grave with Him . Every Jew that got saved , they became in Christ .

    Romans 16:7

Salute Andronicus and Junia, my kinsmen, and my fellow-prisoners, who are of note among the apostles, who also wereinChristbefore me.

All Salvation from the time Jesus Christ death, burial and resurrection are saved " in Christ " automatically. Apostle Peter recognized his Jewish followers as " in Christ ".

    1 Peter 5:14

Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that areinChristJesus. Amen.

Apostle Paul recognized his followers as " in Christ".

    2 Corinthians 1:21

    Now he which stablisheth us with youinChrist, and hath anointed us, is God;

Because of Jesus Christ being the redeemer for the whole world on the cross and finished nailing everything, we are now justified and it didn't cost anything but our faith in believing.

    Romans 3:24

Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that isinChristJesus:

We that are all saved in the Body of Christ.

    Romans 12:5

So we, being many, are one bodyinChrist, and every one members one of another.

We can receive wisdom for being in Christ.

    1 Corinthians 1:30

But of him are yeinChristJesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

Ray, in Christ 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
