Man's life is in God. This means that man can't move and think without God. But since God gives him the power to decide how this will be enacted, God holds him responsible for what he does.
Free moral agency is for a being, whether an angel or man, to decide whether to use for good or evil what God sustains him to do. That is, I can't move my finger or eyes without God enabling me to do so. But God lets me decide whether to use my finger or eyes for good or bad. Then, he punishes or rewards me accordingly.
That's why animals are not held responsible for good or bad actions. They do not have the will power to make decisions.
Yes, God sustains and provides for all human functions. Even a little sparrow can't fall to the ground without God. But some men make the choice to kill the sparrow for evil purposes. And for that he is held responsible. That is, it is man's choice, not God's.
So to sustain something is one thing. It is necessary for the thing to exist and function. This shows God's goodness and love. And for this, God holds us responsible.
To put it plainly, I can't make a decision without God enabling me to do so. But God holds me responsible for the decision I make.
Let us make the choice to follow Jesus. BEHOLD I STAND AT THE DOOR AND KNOCK.
Hey Grant, Revelation 3:14 does not say Jesus is the creation it says "the beginning of the creation of God;" Read John 8:58 where Jesus declares "Before Abraham was I AM. That term in the Greek is ego ami. It mean I am now, I have always been, and I will always be. Christ is declaring His deity. This also found in John 18:5. Look what happened in verse 6 when Christ declared His deity. Read the whole book!
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
