Anybody noticed how the seven churches are mentioned in the Bible? This verse is the only verse that speaks to me personally because I (we) actually have not seen Paul's face in the flesh.

    Colossians 2:1

    For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;

Then if you read the entire chapter, it is telling us the most important thing we need to remember"knit together in love".

In conclusion, sometime in the life of an individual we have been one of these churches. The last church of Laodicean gave me an indication that Paul great conflict seems to be reflected in the different of opinions one may expresses in the comments in this Bible site.

For example, the need for water baptism to received the Holy Ghost. Whereby Peter had proven that you received the Holy Spirit when you believed in what Jesus did on the cross. Paul even corrected Peter on this subject. Unless one believed in vain?

Do you understand the same way about the churches (i.e. The Body of Christ, The Bride of Christ, the sons of God, fellow heirs, fellow believers, the saints who are still alive)?

Another good search is the phrase:

    "In the clouds"

Verse 7, is the meat and potaroes of the book of revelation. Now look how verse 7 starts out "Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him", this is very important, it's like GOD knew people would take this out of context in future chapters and verses.

    Here are some references ( Acts 1:9-11, Rev 1:7, Rev 6:12-17, Rev 7:13&14, Matt 24:29-31, Mark 13:24-27, Luke 21:25-28)

    Acts 1:9-11

9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

    10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;

11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

    Notice:

"and a cloud received him" and "so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven".

    Sounds a lot Rev 1:7

    What are you all's thoughts?

You'd probably enjoy a video, a man made it for his son. That the son released so all people could see it. It goes real fast, being about 1 hour in length:

Genesis to Revelation. The last 5 minutes represent Satans release from hell to tempt the humans in heaven. Then the Great White Throne judgement; 3 minutes of the bliss of no more evil, ever again.

Christ Jesus came one time to preach, teach and to fulfill the New Covenant with his Blood. Take take away our sins by taking all those to the Cross with Him. In rising from the dead or ascending people sometimes say "well...that was going away and coming back." I say they don't really believe. He never left us then. Never did. He fulfilled it (it is finished), rose from the grave after 3-days of fulfillment in an other respect and ascended in the first chapter of Acts to give His Holy Spirit to all. That was all one time. He wasn't going and coming back as he stated he'd never leave nor forsake us - which is a promise He's always kept.

Now, the rapture Christ comes to take the church before the tribulation and or 'hour of temptation' as I've read in Revelation. He states very clearly that the church was never intended to see or go through the rapture. That's not John Darby or movement -- it's been believed and known since the early church.

After all events of the tribulation have taken place and the 7-years draws to an end; Christ Jesus is coming back. Which is the 2nd coming.

This shouldn't be taught as derogative. These are all three prophetic events. Christ Jesus coming as the Messiah was prophesied long before it happened and people weren't counting it as a number. But, it happened at a point in which the Father declared it was so. The same will be of the rapture (the falling away and are signs that this is nigh)

I believe Jesus will take His Bride out of the world before the Great Tribulation just as angels took Lot out of Sodom before the fire fell that burned up that city. Jesus will later return to earth at the end of the Tribulation to set up His kingdom on earth.

Does the Bible tell us, we will be Raptured before Tribulation or after Tribulation ? Does Jesus come to earth twice or three times ? 1. The first time as a baby, and our Savior. 2. The second time He will come in all his Glory in the clouds where everyone on earth will look up even the dead in Christ will rise up to see him. When Jesus comes, this is a very Big deal, He will gather all of us up in the air, then he will destroy the earth & make a new earth for all of those who have been saved by Salvation through Jesus Christ. Or, the first time come as our Savior. 2. Second time comes in the clouds to take us with him in Heaven. 3. Then Jesus comes back to earth the third time to burn up the earth to make a new earth. Thank you for your answer.

The one thing that we have to remember is that GOD can be in many different places at once. And Jesus Christ was GOD manifested in the flesh. So it wouldn't be impossible for everyone to see him at the same time all over the world in the clouds.

    Hi Edward.

    You've been given great answers.

I also believe the oil represents anointing. 1 John 2:27. But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

We are ready because the Holyspirit seals us. Ephesians 1:13. 2 Corinthians 1:21-22.

In Revelation 1:12-13. the candlesticks mentioned here are oil burning lamp stands. A believer is to be a light to the world and that light should always shine on the one in the midst of the lamp stand. Our lord. Matthew 5:14-16.

    Also used symbolically here.

    Leviticus 24:2-4.

    God bless.

  • Chris - In Reply on Revelation 1 - 2 years ago
Hello Edith. Revelation 1:16 is but one verse within the whole Book of the Revelation given to the Apostle John, to record what he sees ( Revelation 1:19). And what the risen Lord Jesus revealed to him in this verse was a part of how Jesus appeared to him (vv 13-16).

In verse 16, John saw seven stars in Jesus' right Hand. We understand that these stars represented the angels (possibly, the leaders) of the seven Churches (the golden candlesticks) in Asia Minor (Turkey): v 20. These were real assemblies of believers in those seven cities & were precious to the Lord, as is indicated by His position amongst them & having them close to Him (in His right Hand). Yet, as we read in the following chapters, not all of them were pure in His Sight & they would be judged & disciplined. Yet the Lord would persevere with them (as He does with us when we go astray) as He also did with Israel, when the promise was given them, "Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God." ( Isaiah 62:3).

John also saw a sharp two-edged sword proceeding from Jesus' Mouth. This is the primary weapon that Jesus uses to subdue His enemies (maybe at that great final battle). We know that the sword is often used to denote the Word of God ( Ephesians 6:17; Hebrews 4:12; Revelation 19:13). And God's Word is Truth - it is pure, it cuts & divides, it converts, it blesses. No enemy, both now & in that final day, will be able to withstand God's Truth. Where they once rejected it, even rejecting God's Word made flesh, they will feel the keenness of the 'blade' & will fall, succumbing to the power of that Word. Even Satan flees when God's Word is brought to bear upon him.

And Jesus' countenance appeared to John as the midday Sun in its zenith. One can imagine John turning away from such Brightness. As we read in Malachi 4:2, "the Sun of righteousness" arises to heal those who fear Him, but will also burn the chaff into ashes of those who do wickedly.

These are verses for the "Caught Up in the Clouds". Rapture is not in the English. I believe it's a Greek word.

    1 Thessalonians 4:16-18

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

    1 Thessalonians 5:2

For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

    Mark 13:26

And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.

    Mark 14:62

And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

    Revelation 1:7

Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

John 3:17 - For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

[now pencil these scriptures in the back of your Bible; in case a friend asks you what you believe about this]

    Possibly the post incarnate Christ.

    Striking resemblance in

    Revelation 1:13-15.

"And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.

    His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;

And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters."

    I hope this helps.

    Hi Anthony.

You asked how can that be as if God was in the likeness of Man.

That's impossible for you and I.

Is there anything impossible for God?

John 1:1 (KJV) In the beginning was THE WORD, and THE WORD was with God, and THE WORD WAS GOD.

Obviously John 1 is talking about THE WORD that came in flesh. (Jesus ) And There is only one God.

Here's just a few verses that may help.

John 1:18 (KJV) No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

1 Timothy 3:16 (KJV) And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Isaiah 9:6 (KJV) For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Revelation 1:8 (KJV) I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

    God bless.

    Hi Dawn.

Michael the archangel seems to be a powerful militant angel in the behalf of Israel.

And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of "THY PEOPLE" and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

    Daniel 12:1.

    Daniel 10:13.

    Daniel 10:21.

However we know he is not Christ.

We can easily refute that here in Jude and in the book of Luke.

Here in Jude 1:8-9. you see Michael the archangel gives respect to dominion and says THE LORD REBUKE YOU.

Jude 1:9. Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

Here in Luke 4:8. We see Jesus who created all things rebuke Satan.

"And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve."

Michael the archangel is a created being.

"The Angel of the Lord is the pre incarcerated Christ. Who created all things.

Colossians 1:16. For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

John 1:3. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

    God bless.

    Hey Dawn Pattison,

Revelation 1:5 is about Jesus; He is the prince of the kings of the world. The word prince used is the Greek word archon meaning; ruler, governor, leader, leading man, no authority higher. God placed Jesus above all, Philippians 2:9, and He will reign until all enemies are put under His feet, 1 Corinthians 15:25.

Michael is one of the chief princes, the only one called archangel, Jude 1:9 and the prince of the people of the house of Israel, Daniel 10:13-21. At the end we see that Michael will stand up, Daniel 12:1, also in Revelation 12:7-12 Michael and other angels cast Satan out of heaven down to this earth permanently.

    God bless.

It would appear that he was designated to be the principality assigned to protect Israel; as other angelic but fallen beings are in charge as well (such as the Prince of Persia). Thus; in God's prophetic timeclock these entities are in warring mode; such as the Revelation 12 war in heaven which is designed to occur at the midpoint of the Tribulation and attached to the time when the earthly Antichrist begins his 3.5 year rule along with the mark of the beast when subsequently the angel of the bottomless pit (Abaddon or Apollyon) possesses him; AND the world worships the dragon (Satan) who gives power for this rulership.

It is such as a top leader over lesser entities that the battles in heavenly places occur. Clearly; these are tied into the prayers of saints; as in Daniel's case with the 21 day delay in answering his prayers. There are certain rulers of earth; therefore which are tied to the entities that are controlling them as God Himself delegates authority. Just how the fate and end of nations tie into the individuals and when they reach a point when judgment is ripe is something in God's plans. For now; prophetically we know that Israel will be preserved along with a godly remnant until God's judgments (Jacob's trouble) commences; then the victory is won in heavenly places once Satan is cast out. On the earth; eventually when they cry out to their deliverer they will be saved from total destruction but not until half the city is ravished; and 2/3 die in all the land. In short; all things in heavenly places are where the real action is; and what we see with natural eyes just a reflection.

All these beings work in submission to Christ as governing authority; even the dark side is utilized for His purposes.

    Wesley's Notes for Revelation 12:7

And there was war in heaven - Here Satan makes his grand opposition to the kingdom of God; but an end is now put to his accusing the saints before God. The cause goes against him, verses 10, 11, Revelation 12:10-11 and Michael executes the sentence. That Michael is a created angel, appears from his not daring, in disputing with Satan, Jude 9, to bring a railing accusation; but only saying, The Lord rebuke thee. And this modesty is implied in his very name; for Michael signifies, Who is like God? which implies also his deep reverence toward God, and distance from all self - exaltation. Satan would be like God: the very name of Michael asks, Who is like God? Not Satan; not the highest archangel. It is he likewise that is afterward employed to seize, bind, and imprison that proud spirit.

People's Bible Notes for Revelation 12:7,8 And there was war in heaven. The woman had been seen in heaven, and there she is seen to be assailed. She has, however, a champion who fights her battles.
