I think it's if you delight yourself in gods ways he wants us to have the good things in life.
  • Shadrack Lungu on Psalms 37:23 - 11 years ago
Ps 37:23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.
First and foremost how does man become good even before God? Secondly how does God order the steps of This good man?
    1) The good man.
    a) Luke 8:15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience. The heart must be made good to produce fruit, since it was eroded of its goodness through adamic sin, the sin of disobedience.
This can only be achieved through receiving Christ as ones personal saviour, receiving forgiveness of sin and cleansing from all unrighteousness through the blood of Jesus Christ our Lord. This is the beginning of the new life.
If a good heart starts from hearing and being convicted of the word of God toward receiving Christ as one's personal saviour and this is what makes a good man therefore I conclude by saying what orders the steps of this good man is the word of God. It is the word of God that will keep you away from falling if you obey it.

This Psalm is a great comfort and assurance. As one gets closer to God, the lies and falsehoods of this society becomes apparent. This Psalm tells the faithful in Christ that they win!!!!

  • Paul on Psalms 37:25 - 12 years ago
Christians do not rely on the world for their sustenance but on God. Therefore if a true Christian begs for anything he will never beg the world - He will beg God. God is his source, his light and his everything. His philosophy and his way of life will never be one of begging.

  • Bible Reader on Isaiah 45:18 - 12 years ago
Note how the Basic English Bible translates this scripture: "who made it not to be a waste, but as a living-place for man". This, along with many other scriptures( Psalms 37:29, Ecclesiastes 1:4, Matthew 6:10, Genesis 2:16,17; 3:19), gives clear, indisputable evidence of God's purpose for the earth.
  • Leslie on Psalms 37 - 12 years ago

Indeed God knows our very heart, thus what we should be doing is to serve Him with all our heart. As we work for Him and He will give you what is in your heart! You may not realize it but as you continue to serve Him, He will give some desires that are deeply impedded in our heart! You maybe expecting something else but that is just the surface of your heart, we humans are looking at! Continue to serve God and stay blessed.

Matthew 6:33,is what i call the master key to a world of unlimited breakthrough,it makes what other are running after to run after us,this is one key every true believer must possess, the desire to always attend to God and His kingdom first. Matthew 6:33 and Psalms 37:4, to me is the most powerful scripture in the bible. PEACE.

I think Cheryl Turks' thoughts are right. If you surrender to God, you will live and think in a godly way.
  • John on Jeremiah 10:23 - 12 years ago
I think that Jeremiah 10:23 is an important verse that reveals the truth that the freewill of man is not a bible based teaching. This verse, along with many others proves that God's sovereign will alone is free and that man's will is subservient to His will. We are responsible to God not because we are free, but because God has decreed to hold us responsible for the actions which He has so decreed that we would perform from all eternity. Proverbs 20:24: “Man's goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?” (KJV). Proverbs 16:1, “The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD” (KJV). Psalms 37:23, “The steps of a man are established by the LORD; and He delights in his way” (NAS). Proverbs 16:9 9, “The mind of man plans his way, but the LORD directs his steps” (NAS) Isaiah 46:10, “Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure” (KJV). Dan 4:35, "And all the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, but He does according to His will in the host of heaven and (among) the inhabitants of earth; and no one can ward off His hand or say to Him, 'What hast Thou done?'” (NAS). Rom 9:19 19 Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?” (KJV). Genesis 45:7-8, “(7) And God sent me before you to preserve you a posterity in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance. (8) So now it was not you that sent me hither, but God: and he hath made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt” (KJV). Acts 4:27-28 “(27) For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, (28) For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done” (KJV).

Trust in the Lord, commit thy way unto Him and you will get the desires of your heart.
  • Timothy Wayne George on Psalms 37:35 - 12 years ago
King David says I have seen the wicked in great power spreading himself like a green bay tree. This verse reminds us of Hitler when he was in power, and looked like the Allies were going to be defeated, but God turned the tide. Hitler was defeated, and Hitler is nowhere to be found. The Lord wants us to mark the end of the perfect man, for his way is peace. The meek will inherit the earth, and be satisfied. So don't fret, only wait on the Lord to bring it to pass.
  • Brenda M. Stevenson on Psalms 37 - 12 years ago
Psalm 37 really gives me the understanding of living. When people do you wrong and they think they are getting but failed to realize one reaps what he/she sows and they will eventually wither like the green grass. Please pray that my family and everyone of my family gets it together, because no one knows the day or the hour.
  • SITERI on Psalms 37 - 12 years ago
Psalms 37:5 that I shall commit and trust in Him in everything I do and he will bring it to pass. That is awesome! As well as verses 39 and 40, For he is the salvation and the strength in the time of trouble. He is our deliverer and helper. WHY? Because we trust in Him. Amen.
