Psalm 109 is a good psalm to pray when going through spritual battles, however it is very important that whoever is praying this prayer should thourougly examine him or herself to make sure he has not in any way contribute to his or her battle. In other way we should try to live a christlike life no matter how difficult it can be sometimes.

I will greatly praise Jehovah with my mouth, and I will praise Him among the multitude. The Lord is worthy of our praise, and no matter what we are going through, we must praise Jehovah among the multitudes. God inhabits the praises of His people, and let the redeemed of the Lord praise Him. With my mouth will I make known His faithfulness to all generations, for God is good all the time. So Sing of the mercies of the Lord forever.

This Psalms has hints of the Messiah who has come and gone-see vv.4,22, and 25.
It is all about anti-christians their thoughts and actions.
The MASTER now says under the NEW DISPENSATION to "love your enemies, bless them that curse you..."
However Psalms 109 still stands and is used for our warning not to stray and to correct and convict those who take an anti-christian stance.

We are made to believe that evildoers are part of the process that every living soul shall pass through, notwithstanding their presence everywhere. We shall triumph over them.

Well. This is about judgement to the evil doers. About leaders, It is God who puts them in place and it is he who removes them from power at his own opportune time. Rather than condemning our leaders we are advised(elsewhere) to pray for them, even those who do evil in our sights, and God will judge them in his own way. I do not think the Psalmist is asking Christians to start judging others, who may be evil in their own sight!

Why oh why do you so called Christians confuse politics with religion. Our country prohibits mixing state and church by our constitution. I'm pretty sure you republicans missed the boat since theyre in bed with the born agains a la "W". What hypocrisy when one pretends to be religious for political purposes. Surely the curses of this Psalm will be upon your heads who blame politicians for the ills visited upon you by God for your own iniquities!!

    1 Corinthians 6:2
Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?

judge not lest you be judged; whatever you soweth you will also reap; let the sins of the father fall on his children. - what has President Obama done that is so evil; has he sent us into a unjustified war that has left over 4000 USA soldiers dead - no, that was our previous president. did you wish this on him. evil stands with evil.

I agree with Minister Ernest. Wishing ill on any one or their family is just plain wrong. Whether you agree or disagree with his policies and tactics is not the issue in question. Associating this verse with ANYONE is morally and ethically contradictory to the teachings of Christ.

JUST REMEMBER ISAIAH 9:6 THE LORD IS GOVERNING THIS WORLD SO BEAWARE OF WHAT IS SAID BECAUSE Psalms 75:7
But God [is] the judge: he putteth down one, and SETTETH up another FOR JESUS HAS COME THAT NO MAN BE CONDENMED BUT ALL TO BE SAVED. ACTS 2;36-40

For those who are praying that this scripture would pretain to our President, have you taken the time to read the entire scripture. Regardless of what you may think about the man, why would anyone pray this for him and his family. We tend to forget that whatsoever a man soweth that shall he also reap. Ane we wonder why this country is in the shape that it is. What happened to the Godly principles the bible says we are to live by. God is not Pleased.

The verse sure fits our current Commander In Chief!

  • Lest on Psalms 109 - 15 years ago
This is a prayer that I pray everyday. The situation at the work place at times can make you wonder if God is there for you but when i read the scripture I feel whole and know that God is there for me.
  • Arthur Chukwuelue on Psalms 109 - 15 years ago
This is a very great and powerful prayer. Some may see it as very harsh but it's very appropriate for those who think they can curse those who God has blessed. Moreso, as we live in a wicked world we should not in any way give our enemies the opportunity to succede. We should not forget that the Bible says "do not suffer the witch to live" etc. As long as my enemies continue to pepetrate evil against me, they must never see the light of the day. I therefore reckon with this Psalm.
