Brother Carl, may CHRIST IN US grace us with HIS wisdom and HIS understanding.
You said God made the Israelites wait 40 years (generation)....
God made them wait 40 years (judgement)....
Numbers 14:34 After the number of days in which you searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall you bear your INIQUITIES, even forty years, and you shall know my breach of promise.
Here's a verse where it's often used as the maximum age of accountability.
Numbers 32:11. Surely none of the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me:
Numbers 14:31-35. But your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have despised.
But as for you, your carcases, they shall fall in this wilderness.
And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness.
After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.
I the LORD have said, I will surely do it unto all this evil congregation, that are gathered together against me: in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.
Please read Numbers 14:30,31; 15:30; 26:65; 32:12 and you will learn that the children that crossed the Jordan were the children of the new generation.
I just did a cross-reference search for Psalm 91:7 and it does not cross-reference to any place in Matthew. It does list these places in scripture: Psalm 32:6, Joshua 14:10, Exodus 12:12-13, Numbers 14:37-38, Genesis 7:23.
Another way to find out would be to search a bible concordance for a particular word used in Psalm 91:7, such as the word "thousand" to find out everyplace that word appears in Matthew to see if it matches Psalm 91:7. Just know that it may take a little longer that way.
Verse 11~We can see why Jehovah God was upset with the Israelites. He had provided for them and showed his power by performing miracles and yet they still doubted him and disobeyed him.
The events of the wilderness typifies the Christian life. Those that believe not in the Gospel of Jesus Christ are not heirs of salvation. Those that believe were chosen from the foundation of the world to be sons and daughters of God.
Audrey; You may have been misinformed about forgiveness in the Law and the Prophets. See Leviticus 4:20,26,31; 5:10,13; 6:7; 19:22; Numbers 14:19;15:26. Adam and Eve were forgiven and released to live out the rest of their lives and propagate the whole human race because of the Word of God that Christ would come in the flesh and undo the works of the devil and the power of sin; so RECONCILING man.

Scriptures like these reveal the personality of God. He is patient and willing to forgive. However, he does not pervert justice like humans do today. If you are guilty, and unrepentant, he will see to it that punishment is administered so justice can prevail. How many times today, do we see people get away with committing crimes? God is truly is the almighty Judge.
It seemed very difficult for the people to trust God even after all the things he had done for them. God was with them day and night and they heard him speak. Help us Lord to trust you in all situations.
I wonder what 40 is symbolizing, JESUS fasted for 40 days and 40 nights, Moses was in the Mountain for 40 days and nights, and now 40 is mentioned again and I'm sure in other places I am unaware of or can't think of the exact verses the #40 shows up, I know it's not the only number mentioned but still it shows up quiet a bit. May God give us the strength to hear him and to follow faithfully,Amen!.
Num. 13:33; 14:8-9; The difference between the 'faith' of these scriptures! Ten believed not, 2 had no doubt. Just as Jesus - "Many are called, but few are chosen.
If we confess our sins, the Lord is more than willing to forgive us our sins!! that 's why Jesus died on the cross for us sinners, For our past sins, present sins and the sins to come! That doesn 't mean that we can continue to sin, cause we 're forgiving anyway... NO................ Numbers 14:181John 1:9Romans 11:27
With mouth confession is made. What do you profess with your mouth. In all situation, look at the positive side. God that brought you thus far will never leave you in your present predicament.
As a teacher, my heart goes out to Moses, Aaron, Joshua, and Caleb. It is so difficult to give good counsel and see it rejected by those God has placed in your care. But you can't force them, or they will never enjoy their blessings but rather will continually resent you for meddling in their lives.
