It appears he's speaking to those who identified themselves as "children of Abraham" "under the Covenant" &/or self-righteous:

    Matthew 5:20, Matthew 7, Matthew 8:10,12, Matthew 23, Matthew 25:31-46, note also Matthew 23:34-36, * Matthew 21:23-46,

    the promise made to David 2Samuel 7:12-17, 1Kings 9:5, 1Chronicles 22:9,10, 1Chronicles 28:7, Isaiah 9:7,

1Samuel 13:13,14, 1Kings 11:11-14, the Bible has in the past shown how GOD will reject those who reject HIM.

    Giannis, who is Satan?

    Everything has an OPPOSITE.

The tree of KNOWLEDGE of good and evil (opposites).

The word Of God is BUILT AROUND PARABLES, tree, or trees, is signified (represents something other than what it is in the physical).

Christ is a Lamb, TREE OF LIFE ETC.

The New Testament parables teach that we are the garden of God (Eden). Isaiah 5:7 Ezekiel 31:8

The TREE of KNOWLEDGE of good and evil exist in the midst of the garden (CHRIST is this tree, as he is also the tree of Life) In the midst of the garden.

Colossians 1:27 ..this mystery ...CHRIST IN YOU ..

We have only knowledge of evil, until Christ (the Holy Ghost) releases, or causes, us to have the mind of Christ (then we sprout and eventually become a tree, also. Isaiah 6:13 Ezekiel 47:7 Revelation 22:1-2

There is ONLY ONE SPIRIT, but the KNOWLEDGE of that ONE SPIRIT contains both good and evil.

Genesis 3:22 ....the man has BECOME LIKE ONE OF US (the man has become like God) to know good and evil....

Before man ate (the words of God), which is the TREE of KNOWLEDGE (Christ), he was the Child of SATAN (no knowledge).

You are BORN AGAIN by THE WORD'S OF GOD.

1 Peter 1:23 BEING BORN AGAIN ....by the WORD'S OF GOD ...

Now Satan (DARKNESS)(lies, deception, falsehoods) has been DESTROYED and LIGHT SHINES FORTH.

Isaiah 45:7 I FORM THE LIGHT, AND CAUSE DARKNESS: I make peace, and create evil ..

Isaiah 9:2 The people that waked in DARKNESS, have seen a GREAT LIGHT ...

    WHO IS SATAN?

1 Corinthians 2:6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are PERFECT (born of truth), yet not the WISDOM OF THIS WORLD, nor of THE PRINCES OF THIS WORLD (children of Satan living in lies, deception and falsehoods, children of death and the grave).

1 Corinthians 2:8 Which none of the PRINCES of this world knew, for had they known it, they would not have crucified the LORD OF GLORY.

Matthew 12:38 But if I (our God is a consuming FIRE) cast out devils (lies, deception, falsehoods) ...then the KINGDOM IS COME

    Dear brother.

Please read carefully the passage in Matthew 12:22-37 You will then understand that blaspheming the Holly Spirit is to attribute to satan actions done by the Holly Spirit like healing. NOTHING ELSE. And one to be aware of what he is doing. Because one may just say what he has heard from other people and just repeat it. That is not blasphemy. God does not attribute to people what they don't know but when know and still choose to do the other thing.

It is very important to always know that when one blasphemies God's Spirit HE NEVER REPENTS that is why this sin is not forgiven. If you had done that you wouldn't worry at all, you wouldn't care at all. The fact that you worry and this thing troubles you so much is the proof you didn't do it.

So stop being sad and trouble yourself and start rejoicing. Your name is in The Book of Life like everybody's else who repent for their sins and ask for the Blood of Jesus.

    Again rejoice

    Hey Debbie B.

There may be several opinions on this, but does the bible tell us where He was? Jesus said He would be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth, Matthew 12:40. And He said He would be killed, and after three days rise again, Mark 8:31. One theory starts with 1 Peter 3:18-22. Looking at the context of the chapter it is about doing good and refraining from evil and it is good to suffer for righteousness to have a clean conscience.

If we look at these verses Jesus was put to death in the flesh but quickened by the Spirit. Jesus was raised from the dead in a glorified body and the same Spirit of Him that raised Jesus will raise those who have Christ in them Romans 8:10-11.

Jesus went and preached to spirits in prison who were disobedient in the days of Noah. As far as I know nowhere in scripture is man or saints called spirits, or the dead be in prison, I may be wrong. Why would Jesus only be preaching to those before the flood? The only ones I know that scripture says are in prison in chains of darkness are the angels who left their first estate 2 Peter 2:4 Jude 1:6. In the verses, there is nothing to indicate a time frame in which Jesus did this.

My understanding is Jesus was in the grave/tomb until His Father raised Him on the day of the Feast of First Fruits on the first day of the week before the sun came up. There is more scripture like Ephesians 4:8-10 that you can study for your understanding, keep in context of the entire chapter with an open mind and led by the Holy Spirit.

    God bless,

    Hi Naomi,

There was just a discussion related to this:

    Link

I'm sure there's been many others in the past too if you do an advanced search for it.

The Bible says when we die we will enter a state to await Jesus's return then will face judgment all together. It's called judgment day. Matthew 12:36, Hebrews 9:27. There's no verse saying you get to skip this, and nothing saying you go to heaven then go back to earth into your body, only to go back to judgment after you've already been in heaven.

    Daniel 12:2

    Job 14:12

    1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

    1 Corinthians 15:18-20

    Matthew 9:24

Those who believe in instant heaven involves misinterpreting 2 key verses: 1. Misquoting Paul when he said he'd "rather" be in heaven (those sleeping in the grave haven't necessarily departed from their old bodies yet anyway), 2. Thief on cross when Jesus said that day he'd be in "paradise". Most ignore all the other verses above saying we will await Jesus's return, then have a day of judgment. God bless.

    Continued...

The word "perfect" (teleion) is an adjective here used as a noun. It is in the NEUTER gender. If "perfect" were referring to a person, it would be masculine or feminine. Since it is in the neuter gender, it is not referring to a person, but an object-the completed Word of God.

Now, if it also helps there a vast difference in the way the Apostle Paul explains tongues 1st Corinthians from what's read in Acts.

Nowhere in Acts do you find the term "Baptism of the Holy Ghost" in connection with speaking in tongues.

The baptism of the Holy Ghost is related to salvation and not tongues ( 1st Corinthians 12:13).

There is NO command in the Bible to speak with unknown tongues.

A person who does not have the Holy Spirit is not saved ( Romans 8:9 and 1st John 4:13).

    A wicked generation seeks a sign ( Matthew 12:39).

The tongues movement of today is NOT Acts 2 tongues, but the CARNAL tongues of 1st Corinthians.

The tongues of the Bible (in both Acts and 1 Corinthians) were always understandable, known, established, earthly, languages; not indiscernible sounds and utterances as used by the Charismatic Movement today in modern times.

God always initiated the miracle of tongues in the Bible, not men ( Acts 2 and 10). In sharp contrast, men initiate the false tongues spoken in Pentecostal churches today.

The gift of tongues in 1st Corinthians was simply the usage of known languages, which some didn't understand, so Paul told them not to speak in foreign languages in multi-lingual congregations unless an interpreter is present. Notice that the gift of tongues in 1st Corinthians is different than the miracle of tongues in Acts 2. In Acts 2 Peter spoke in Greek, but at least 16 different nations heard each man in his own language.

If it helps...I speak in tongues daily but they're the tongues from 1st Corinthians. How? I'm multilingual. I speak English (primary), Spanish, Portuguese and Italian. Tongues meaning languages -- I speak more than one.

Dear one "Wilbur Reid",in peace i totally agree with you. Rather God's Word than my own. You must then know that every word that is written will come true. But when you refer to Bible words that do not recur in your case, it is wrong, that to. It suited well for translators and scribes and deliver the words from: Revelation 22:18-19. Because then was the intention that Johannes himself would emphasize in what I write, nothing must be taken out. John specified it.

We know very well that much has been taken away from the Holy Scriptures. Which is a shame for the church.

"What is Christianity and what does God expect from Christians. Thank you so much we must never forgett what Jesus did at Calvary for us. And above all, His Spirit is with us as we live our lives. Then we have a hope of getting into the Heavenly housing.

Christian judgment: And all that that entails.

God expect from Christians That we preach about his Son Jesus Christ, live like Him and do good things for neighbors and do well to widows and fatherless. It also seems that we Christians must speak one word too much about Jesus! But He Himself doubts whether He will find any faith when He returns. Luke 18:8

    What does it say more in God's Word, among other things: 2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

So we must believe dear friend that everyone will do their best in handover. For on the fruits they should be felt:

Matthew 12:32-37 May the Lord Jesus Christ bless us all so that we all reach the goal. And keep faith and truth, light and life dear in our hearts. God bless us with His wisdom in a dark world. Love u in Christ.

Bruising the head was directed toward both Eve (woman) and the serpent (which Satan had embodied in the Garden). By bruising the head meant that the offspring of woman would bruise or crush that of Satan's armies. Look at mankind (the offspring of the seed God planted in the garden with Eve) ; the born again can spiritually give Satan a black eye. God has used the elect to have this ongoing division of Glory (soul winning) which bruises the head of Satan's plan (to lead the lost into destruction, death and an eternity in Hell should they not be saved before physical death). Think on this with happiness -- the sheep (us) are those that bruise the head and when Jesus comes back during the 2nd coming...the head (Satan) will eventually be destroyed.

Bruising the heel is that the minions of Satan would attempt to strike at the seed of woman. Anyone who does the work of Satan in the wicked ways of this world and tries to pervert those who serve God are trying to strike the heel. If a cobra struck the heel of a person -- the bite would likely be fatal. The same is of the bite/strike of Satan. He'll try to strike the heel of the seed of woman. In Matthew 12:34 Jesus even refers to the Pharisees as a breed of vipers. Why? Because they were striking the heel of those who came to listen to Jesus and those seeking redemption (Salvation) from sin by Salvation.

Obviously, with the Holy Spirit empowering us as a member of the Godhead that is the only way to cast out demons. That being said; several factors need to be present for this to occur; and for a person to remain free. As Christ said; when a wicked spirit is cast out and finds where it came from clean; it brings 7 spirits more wicked than itself. ( Matthew 12:38-39). This should be a warning not to think in our own efforts we can "clean house" as it were.

Therefore; we have several things that need to occur. First of all; the Lord works where and when He chooses. There is no limit to what He can do; but He chooses where and when to act. A Damascus road experience can occur; but usually when someone is determined to live in rebellion and deliberately worship the powers of darkness God often will leave them to hit rock bottom; and for Satan to rend them so that they realize that they indeed are slaves to the Devil rather than having any benefit to supernatural powers he offers. Repentance needs to be present for a deliverance to be effective; or clearly the person can have worse things happen later. The Word of God and those filled with the Spirit are often enough for someone to be delivered who are seeking it. Those who do this shouldn't be as the magicians and be lovers of money rather than a willing vessel for His Work. Prayer and deliverance surely is important in the right manner; and with the correct gospel. It is the power of sin to have a legal hold on someone that causes even believers to be compromised. We are all lost in sin; but Satan has no power over our eternal destiny. To be worthy of being His children is more important than the fact that demons are subject to Him ( Luke 10:20). The Holiness of God is abhorred by all fallen angels and demons who are permanently removed from His presence without hope of restoration. Truly God rules over all of His Creation and His authority and power are unequalled. Agape. Rich P

According to Strongs Exhaustive Concordance of the KJV Bible there are three variant Greek words translated devils.

The root word in his Greek dictionary of the New Testament is:

    1142.

    Transliteration daimn (Key)

    Pronunciation dah'-ee-mown

    Part of Speech masculine/feminine noun

Root Word (Etymology) From daio (to distribute fortunes)

a daemon or super-natural spirit (of a bad nature); - devil.

    Matthew 8:31; Mark 5:12; Revelation 16:14; Revelation 18:2.

    1139.

    Transliteration daimonizomai (Key)

    Pronunciation dahee-mon-id'-zom-ahee

    Part of Speech verb

Root Word (Etymology) Middle voice from (G1142)

to be exercised by a daemon;-have a (be vexed with, be possessed with) devil (-s).

    Matthew 4:24; Matthew 8:16; Matthew 8:28; Mark 1:32; Luke 4:36

    1140.

    Transliteration daimonion (Key)

    Pronunciation dahee-mon'-ee-on

    Part of Speech neuter noun

Root Word (Etymology) Neuter of a derivative of (G1142)

a demonic being; by extension a diety:-devil, god.

    Matthew 7:22; Matthew 9:34; Matthew 10:8; Matthew 12:24,27,28; Mark 1:34,39; Mark 3:15,22; Mark 6:13; Mark 9:38; Mark 16:9,17; Luke 4:41; Luke 8:2,27,30,33,35,38; Luke 9:1,49; Luke 10:17; Luke 12:15,18,19,20; Luke 13:32; 1 Corinthians 10:20-21; 1 Timothy 4:1; James 2:19; Revelation 9:20.

demon - The Modern English word demon derives from the Middle English demon: from medieval Latin demon, from Latin daemon, from Greek daimn 'deity, genius'; in demon; also from Latin daemonium 'lesser or evil spirit', from Greek daemonion, diminutive of daimn.

devils - The Modern English word devil derives from the Middle English devel, from the Old English dofol, that in turn represents an early Germanic borrowing of the Latin diabolus.

The KJV translation is not a word for word or uniquely and infallible inspired representation of the Greek New Testament, and we should be cautious in choosing which English words in it we want to make our hills to die on without first consulting the Greek.

    Hi Donna.

    I fully agree with Jc.

I normally don't like to add to anything so well stated if there's no improvement.

This is just a side note.

Jesus is referred to as the "Son of Man" 88 times in the New Testament. In fact, Son of Man is the primary title Jesus used when referring to Himself Matthew 12:32; 13:37; Luke 12:8; John 1:51). The only use of Son of Man in a clear reference to Jesus, spoken by someone other than Jesus, came from the lips of Stephen as he was being martyred Acts 7:56.

    Son of God.

    Son of Man.

These are both titles of Our Blessed Saviour. The title Son of God, emphasised His Divinity, and that He is "part" of the Trinity, and God Himself. The Title Son of Man is from Daniel and emphasises His humanity and His messianic purpose in coming to save us, as it points back to the prophecy, which it fulfills. Rapture included.

    God bless.

  • DOMINION, AUTHORITY, POWER in the Holy Spirit - In Reply - 3 years ago
Jesus did not become the Son of Man until he was born HUMAN.

The teaching is, that earth and creation was made for man (translates as male or female).

Only Humans had Been given DOMINION; power and authority to use it. Satan stole it when Adam and Eve sinned. Satan was created. He had no authority to be on earth as Human. His first form was as a serpent. His fallen angelic form, took possession of that serpent to deceive the humans.

Jesus Took Back the dominion ( Genesis 3:15) from Satan at the CROSS. He crushed Satan's head (power).

Please understand this. Satan has no authority or power over BORN AGAIN BELIEVERS.

We don't have to lay down and suffer Satans threats or oppression. He cannot get inside of Believers in Jesus. We have the Holy Spirit indwelling inside of our born again spirits given to us through Jesus.

We have the authority and the power to command Satan to GET OUT of our lives, our family, our homes, job opportunities, relatives. Our prayers have power, but we have to accept it and use it. Our relationship to Jesus needs to become close. We can only do that by getting into the Bible and soaking up scriptures for ourself.

If someone hands you a billion dollars, and you only use it, one hamburger and French fries at a time__you can't see what Jesus provided for you. Scriptures are your weapons. ( Matthew 12:43-45). The evil spirits come back ever so often to see if you really meant for them to move out. Reaffirm As Needed. Ephesians 6: they are invisible, but when "all hell" breaks loose, in your world: it's time to fight back with your ARSENAL OF WEAPONS. Memorize the scriptures. Ask the Holy Spirit to bring them to your mind; in the heat of battle.

Walking free of hidden sun, or forgotten sin, can be dealt with at 1 John 1:9, 1 John 2:1-2 + 2:20. The Holy One is the Holy Spirit.

We are HUMANS and beloved of God. Let's walk in the provision Jesus purchased in Blood.

This chapter has the verse; amazingly of "loving your neighbor as yourself" (v. 18) from Christ's summarization of the law. This rule applies to the stranger as well (v. (v. 33-34). It also states in the previous verse that we are to "rebuke" our neighbor out of love. It reminds us of the N.T. verse "He scourges every one He loves." There are many exhortations here for behaviors appealing to justice such as not despising the deaf (v. 14); keeping food in the fields for the poor and stranger to glean (v. 8-10); and just measures and weights (v. 36). These are all virtues that improve a society whose individuals are under such a mandate.

The exhortation to fear our mother and father (v. 3) surely raises a valid point as to why the lack thereof results in a society like we have in the U.S. today. As to the second part of the verse and keeping the Sabbath; as the "Son of Man is the Lord of the Sabbath" today ( Matthew 12:8) the family which honors the Lord and teaches their children correctly will set a standard they will not soon forget. Truly, the quote of Billy Graham that "the family that prays together stays together" is an extrabiblical statement that has validity and is worth consideration.

There are other warnings here once again about not worshipping idols; and images (v. 4) and being involved with wizards (v. 31). Various other rituals associated with this are mentioned such as cutting corners of hair (v. 27). Rules about relations with bondmaids and prostituting ones daughter are here as well.

There are other rules about when to eat from fruit trees as well. It is clear that all things are related from that illustration; and seemingly unrelated things such as the bounty of a harvest are tied in with obedience to God with the circumcision analogy of trees 3 years or younger (v. 27). These statutes relate to breeding cattle and clothing not having mixed constituents relate to ceremonial laws of purity to stand in His Presence and live.

Hello Sherry. Could you be thinking of the unpardonable sin? But you could also be correct in stating it as the "unparrelable sin", for there is no sin, according to Jesus, that can run parallel to this particular one or even surpass it.

In Matthew 12:24-32, Jesus was admonishing the Pharisees for attributing the Work of the Holy Spirit to be the work of Beelzebub (Satan). In fact, Jesus states that every sin, even blasphemy, can be forgiven by God, as God looks on that repentant heart confessing their errors & sins. But for blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, this sin is unforgiveable. What then can such a sin be that can never be forgiven?

Of course, the Jew would never blaspheme God, indeed, will not even say His Name lest they mispronounce it & offend God by sinning. The same Jew had no problems accusing Jesus for many things such as, His claims, His pronouncements against their evil deeds, for bringing the real message of the Law instead of the religious leaders weighty additions to it, etc. All these accusations & hatred, even the killing of Jesus, God can & will forgive. But when that Jew (or, anyone), sees the evidence & Power of God in a person's life (such as miracles, casting out of devils, work of the Spirit in re-creation of the heart, etc.), & then affirm that what they see is not of God's Spirit, but of the Devil, then that person has destroyed the only hope he has of forgiveness & redemption. Such a person cannot be saved, for he has put forward his final word that the Work of Jesus by the Holy Spirit is done by the power of Satan & his spirit. That demonstrates a total rejection of Jesus' Life, Work, & Sonship. And when that happens, a person, so gripped by satanic deception, can never be saved (nor will he seek it), as he rejects the Spirit's evidence clearly seen in the Work of the Father & in the Person of the Son.

Matthew 12:31,32, note the context Matthew 12, whole chapter in context.

The teachers of the Laws of GOD were accusing Jesus of breaking the Sabbath because His disciples plucked corn to eat Matthew 12:1-2, & then waited to accuse Jesus of breaking the Sabbath, if Jesus would heal a man. Matthew 12:10-14,

    Then Matthew 12:22-24,

    Hopefully this is helpful

If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar; for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? 1John 4:20

How can I truly love my brother?

Lord help me to look at everyone through eyes of love. Love covers a multitude of transgressions.

Help me to look at everyone through eyes of mercy! The same eyes of mercy you look at me with.

Help me to love my brother and my enemy alike.

We may be spending eternity together! :-))

This is my sincere desire Lord.

    Matthew 12:50

    (Who is my brother?)

    1 John 3:11-17

    (Loving my brother)

1John is an amazing book of the Bible. Short read. Only 5 chapters. But I highly recommend it!

God bless you and keep you. :-).

    Dear Richard,

I'd like to offer an alternative viewpoint to the absent with body present with Lord phrase.

First, it doesn't say that in the Bible. That phrase is actually from 2 Corinthians 5:8 where Paul said he would "rather" be absent from the body, and present with the Lord. He didn't say in 100% of all cases when people die that 100% of the time they will be "immediately" with the Lord, regardless. If it was the second phrase it would be clear what it means, but all it means is Paul stating his preference. It certainly doesn't mean Hitler and other mass murderers are with the Lord right now, simply because of this one verse.

Second, people often quote the verse about the man on the cross that Jesus said would be in "paradise" on that day as support. But Jesus didn't say 100% of all people, from this moment onward will 100% go to heaven, and zero people going to hell. And the word paradise is not necessarily the same as heaven. Some believe this is a waiting area for the dead.

Lastly, there are many more Bible verses indicating that the dead are 'sleeping' and are awaiting the Lord to meet in the air and then face judgment. It says all will be judged, not just some. So, believing people go immediately to heaven without waiting on the Lord, and skipping judgment doesn't align with the other scriptures.

Matthew 12:36, 2 Corinthians 5:10, Revelation 20:11-15 - People are all judged on the same day. Lots of people seen in the same place.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 says the dead will rise and those living will meet the Lord in the air. Would it make sense for someone to go heaven, then back to earth to rise up, then back again to heaven?

When people die they 'sleep' awaiting the Lord's return as it indicates in Daniel 12:2, Job 14:12, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18.

    Matthew 12:12-29

25 And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:

26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?

27 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges.

28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.

29 Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house [devils] and spoil his goods, except he first BIND the strong man (devil)?

and then he will spoil his house. (The devil must leave)

Jesus as a human being (legally) has dominion, power and all authority,

to bind Satan's works and the devils that follow him; and order them to go into outer darkness or dry places.

Christians are deputized by Jesus to walk in the same authority as Jesus. If we don't receive that, then Satan makes our lives difficult or a living hell.

My favorite go-to on that teaching is on YouTube= SEARCH

Charles Capps, AUTHORITY OF THE BELIEVER.

If we don't know what it is, we are kind of lost with our armor on ( Ephesians 6)

We can do the same things as Jesus did on earth. He wants us to learn this.

Put aside all the non-violence stuff public school taught you; and learn how to defeat your enemies. If you remember anything else, THE BLOOD OF JESUS, will make the devils run!!

Keep them off your kids too.

    In response to "John J"

There are many sins! Idolatry, Fornication, Witchcraft, Pride, etc... All of these sins fall under three areas LUST OF THE FLESH,LUST OF THE EYES, AND THE PRIDE OF LIFE | 1 John 2:16|! They are not all classified as stealing! But what they are classified as are sins against a Holy and Righteous God AND transgression of the LAW | 1 John 3:4|!

With that said ALL the sins in God's Word minus one are forgivable...The only unforgivable sin in God's eyes is denying Christ Jesus! | Matthew 10:33| Jude 1:4 | Proverbs 30| Which is blasphemy of the Holy Ghost! | Matthew 12:31| This is saying that Christ Jesus did not die on the cross and send us the Comforter! The Holy Ghost is our Comforter!

We must be born again for our sins to be washed away | John 3:7 |

I noticed one of the comments state there are "7 deadly sins" God says ALL sin causes DEATH! | Romans 5:12| It says there in Romans that death passed upon ALL men! This is our physical death...But there is DEATH beyond our physical DEATH and that is an eternity in HELL the SECOND death this is spoken of in Revelation | Revelation 20:14| This second death is for those that have not been SAVED by the Grace of God through FAITH in Christ Jesus...causing BLASPHEMY of the HOLY GHOST!
