Mark shows how the Lord Jesus established:
    1. His authority: V 10 - "the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins"
    2. His mission: V 17 - "I came .. to call .. sinners to repentance."
    3. His enduring availability to his disciples; directly when he was here and by prayer now that he is in Heaven: Vs 19

Martha Prince, easily nothing existed on this earth before God created everything in six days Some people don 't believe in creation as actually six of our days, but I do. And God rested on the Sabbath day and hallowed it but he knew the future uses he would make of the sabbath for mankind. God does not get exhausted therefore he did not actually need to rest . God truly finished creating all he would create. Jesus Christ-who is God in the flesh or Son of God-said, I repeat in Mark 2:27 " the Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath ". God bless us all and in the understanding of his Word. Glory be to Jehovah in the highest through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen!

Jesus was in Eden at the beginning. He instituted the 7th day as the Eternal Sabbath for all mankind, not just Jews.
  • Dewey J on Exodus 31 - 10 years ago
Neini Curulala, very interesting and controversial subject of the day Christians should observe the Sabbath. Let us remember that God is speaking to Israel or the Jewish nation in its infancy therefore they should observe the Sabbath on Saturday. The Christian church began in houses of Christians because the Jews kicked them out of synagogues. The Early Christians started to observe the Sabbath on the first day of the week which would be Monday on the Jewish calendar. Most Christians of the world observe and I can 't see from Scripture any better reason than to honor the resurrection day of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ who himself fulfilled the whole law. As Jesus said in John 4:22 "Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews ". But salvation is by Jesus Christ who came through the Jewish nation and is himself the salvation of mankind. Mark 2:27 Jesus said, "the Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath. Let us not be like the Pharisees which Jesus told in Matt. 23:24 "Ye blind guides, which strain at gnat, and swallow a camel ". God bless us all and in the understanding of his Word. Glory be to Jehovah in the highest through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen!

What I know here is two knowledge I think we can learn here, 1 mark 2:27 mean that we have right to eat on sabbath, because sabbath is made for man to rest, the bible say in Genesis 2:2 was the seven day and God rested,, so what does rest mean rest is part of eating and relaxing, , that is why jesus said sabbath is made for man in other words is made for man to eat and relax or rest, ,, Then in verse 28, , he add to it that even himself Is lord of the sabbath in other words he is before moses exit that give them the law he has been in existence John 1:1
  • Mark Aubart on Matthew 5:17 - 10 years ago
As has been written, Christ came to offer salvation through grace, but the salvation from sin is an offer. People can take the offer and become part of the Church of Christ, which by its nature will obey God and his commandments. Or refuse the offer and follow man aka satan, lucifer, the world . I believe the 10 Commandments were for Jews Gentiles alike, the other laws Torah were specifically for the Jews, and pertained to the time before Christ B.C. . The 4th Commandment specifically, regarding the Sabbath, predates the 10-Commandments and was never abolished and never changed by God. Lucifer man religion changed it in order to demonstrate how inept and evil man is and to fool mankind when they read: Genesis 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. Mark 2:27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: Mark 2:28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath. Now people will ask without thinking: "But which day is the 7th day? " But God did not allow man to change the days of the week, Sunday is the first day of the week on every calendar, in every language, in every country in the world. Those that wish to believe otherwise want to be deceived, and in fact are preferring to follow the world and not Christ, not God.

Fasting gives time for the stomach to settle. making way for a new beginning after receiving the holy spirit. The old is done away with. The new has come.
  • Insight 777 on Mark 2 - 10 years ago
Verse 18, John and the Pharisees used to fast... meaning they refrained from false doctrine. However, doctrine changed with the baptism of Jesus. The laws of God were revealed to be the true doctrine of Jesus. Jesus was revealed as Christ. So Jesus and his followers did not fast according to the description of religious laws that were known in the past. Now some of those laws were revealed as false by the teaching of Jesus. Sinners are the attendants of the marriage of Jesus. Sinners do not fast while they are with Jesus, so they cling to the wrong doctrine. They are sinners. But when Jesus is gone the words of God that Jesus taught will fill them with his truth and then then they will realize that they had been wrong and they will fast- reject false doctrine. The resurrection of Jesus and baptism unto Jesus fills one with Holy Spirit turns sinners into the people of God. Then they will fast rejecting religious laws that no longer apply and rejecting false religion as a whole.

I am so impressed by Mark 2. for instance sin is the cause of many problem. the solution is that if we take away sin problem will go ie remove the cause and the effect will be removed.

John Garbar, that is so right People are misunderstanding that As they think Jesus was chilling with the sinners Those Sinners Jesus was eating with repented. Their sins have been forgiving They were no longer sinners. Many people today don 't understand that gift of salvation, to repent and sin NO MORE, They believe you get saved and sin some more. Thats how you can lose your salvation! Repent and sin no more Live a Godly life not an unGodly life.

Christians everywhere worship Jesus Christ on Sunday, Savior, King, and friend who sits at the right if God the Father. Christians don 't worship the day of Sunday but it seems like you are making Saturday an idol, RNM. The Sabbath was for the Jews, alone. We were made to glorify God not a day. We do need to set aside that day for primarily worship. These days in the world, you see many businesses open on Sunday. Why? For money. Where is their faith? In Mark 2:27, Jesus says the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. You are making the sabbath a god. That is wrong. It is cultish. Acts 20:7,When the disciples worshipped on the first day of the week, they had communion with unleavened bread, from the greek word azumos. Not apros, necessary food as you suggest.

hebrews 9chap 16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. 17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth. After Jesus death, john 3:3 is enforced. Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. acts2:38..water and spirit... acts 19:5..john 's disciples, were re-baptised, in Jesus ' name and then received the holy ghost... acts 8:6 ...ethiopian received ..water and spirit.... acts 10:48 ...italian received ..water and spirit...and spoke in tongues. while the bridegroom was with them....mark2:10 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins. hince, situations like the thief on the cross. but , Mark 2:20 But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them. John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

Walter Kings about Jesus sitting and eating with sinners and publicans, needs to be understood correctly , these folks were concerned about their sins, they repented , that is who Jesus and his followers ate with , they were ashamed of their wicked lives . God Bless ,,

what is seen in this chapter, especially v.3 5 , is that we should never give up on bringing the need of another before Christ. By this our faith can move the hand of God . It was not the faith of the sick man that move Jesus ,but the faith of his friends!!!
  • Nelson on Mark 2:17 - 10 years ago
The word "repentence " was wiped off from most bibles. The devil is not only attacking our only physical weapon that Jesus left us with, but also our Souls. Let those who have eyes see!
  • Norma on Mark 2:22 - 10 years ago
Tahni Jesus came teaching man great truths from HIs father....But He must teach slowly so our minds can receive and accept what He teaches....He is saying that if we have too much thrust upon us at once it would overwhelm us....we couldn 't understand and we would lose interest in further study. Therefore He is not answering their questions fully as they are not ready to receive it. Jesus teaches us slowly, so the more we study the more He opens our minds to His words.

20 But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days. 21 No man also seweth a piece of new cloth on an old garment else the new piece that filled it up taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse. 22 And no man putteth new wine into old bottles else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred but new wine must be put into new bottles we should ll open our hats and minds t this

What does this verse mean? Why was the comment made after speaking of how we are to fast when Yeshua is not on earth. Does fasting make somethimg happen to the body which is beneficial toward receiving a renewed spirit?
  • Anonymous on Mark 2:18 - 11 years ago
I 've heard it said that we are not to fast on the sabbath because that is our time with Adonai, and I would assume, Yeshua.

Jesus is lord of the Sabbath, which means unless you know Him as Lord and Savior you will not understand the significance of the Sabbath, you can remember the Sabbath and keep it holy, but unless the lord of the Sabbath JESUS is not Lord of your life you do so in vain.

What do I think of Mk 2:28? Rev. 1:10 Gen 2:2 Ex 20:8 7th day is His day not first day. However I am not a legalist...for I am under Christ. I go to church on Sun. and I go to church on Sat. I go to church because I love God not because I am bound to the Law. Thank you.
