Luke 2:25-35. Though we're not told whether he was a priest in the temple - probably not.

Here are scripture links about Jesus CHRIST ministry, the Bible however indicates HIS open ministry longer than a year on earth.

Luke 3:23, people take that scripture & add holidays & other events to draw a timeline.

    It doesn't actually say that Jesus CHRIST ministry is/was limited to just those years of HIS open ministry because it's everlasting. Luke 1, John 1:1-5, Luke 2:42-50, John 8:58, 1Corinthians 15:47-58, Ephesians 3:9-11, Titus 3:7, John 3:15, Hebrews 5:9, Jude 1:21, Romans 6:23, Romans 5:21, John 17:3, 2Timothy 2:10, 2Corinthians 5:1, 1John 5:11, John 10:28, 1John 5:20,

I appreciated your very thoughtful & insightful comments of our Lord's early years, GiGi. I've often considered that part of His Life that has sadly been withheld from us, for good reason no doubt.

It's almost impossible to imagine a young boy growing up with others of his age around him & not be influenced & tempted to imitate their fleshly ways or satisfy Himself with carnal offerings. His obedience to his parents & wisdom of words & counsel, would no doubt have intrigued many folk & ministered to both young & old.
  • GiGi - In Reply on Luke 2 - 3 years ago
Yes, this verse tells us that Jesus grew up just like all of us, but was never sinful. He please the Father by always doing His will even as a child and teenager! He pleased men because He never wronged anyone by word or deed. I am pretty sure that He was eager to help and serve others through His growing up years and, in a culture that valued godly living, godly people could only speak well of Him. Wicked, rebellious people probably were uncomfortable around Him as His goodness and righteousness would be convicting for them. But perhaps His example turned some of these sinners back to God. We don't know much about His life between birth and age 30, so what we think or say is only reasoned speculation. But it is good to imagine how pure and holy Jesus was even as a child, youth, and young adult. I think it is easy for us to think that he was like other children with the foibles of bring young and not of the age of reason, but He was never disobedient His parents, or sassy, or crude, or mean to other children. He may have had a good sense of humor, but would not have used it to ridicule or embarrass others. He wasn't lazy, indolent, prideful, lustful, deceptive, or any other typical sinful propensity. Imagine growing up knowing someone like Him! Either you were drawn to Him or shrunk back away from Him depending on the condition of your heart before God.

    Hello John,

I myself have had many beautiful discussions with Mormons & Jehovah Witnesses. I'm sorry if I mix up the teachings. 1st I want to say many of both, are very kind, I liked just about everyone I encountered. With few exceptions. However, many scriptural discussions seemed to point to teaching that was not in-line with JKV HOLY Bible.

1st important 1= Galatians 1:3-10, 2 Corinthians 11:3-4, teach don't believe another gospel even if an Angel brings, Mormons have a "new" teaching brought from "An Angel".

2nd Book of Mormon, addition to Bible? Psalms 89:34, Rev. 22:18, Deuteronomy 12:32,

3rd Mormons teach that Women can't be prophets untrue : Judges 4:4, Luke 2:36, Joel 2:28.

4th & maybe most important Mormons don't believe CHRIST Jesus is who HE says HE is. : Isaiah 53, Psalms 22, John 19, John 1,

    Why do you ask?

Baptist are supposed to believe in Scripture.

I myself like to stick to the WORD of GOD. Those two are not your only choices. The choices really come down to the WORD itself here's some : John 3:15-16, Matthew 25:31-46, James 1:26-27, John 14:16,

    Hopefully this is helpful.

    Hi Chris

The bible says first the physical and then the spiritual. You are saying first the spiritual and then the physical. I'm sorry but you have it backwards. Jesus is first mentioned in Genesis 3:15. He was in Gods mind right from the beginning. In the exodus it is said the rock 1 Corinthians 10:4 that followed them. It says spiritual rock which means the rock symbolized Christ. Jesus Christ was in Gods mind right from the beginning. He was not an actual being until his birth about two thousand years ago.

It says Jesus was conceived in the womb. Luke 2:21. Conception is when two seeds are joined together. Jesus started life as a baby and grew from there.

At Jesus resurrection what did Jesus say to Mary?

John 20:17 I ascent to my Father and your Father and to my God and to your God.

    Thanks

    Jesus is creater god

1 Timothy 3:16 KJV - And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Jesus is the son of God

Rom 1:3-4 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; 4 And declared [to be] the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

Jesus I savior of the world

    Luke 2:11

"For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord."

the bible is about Jesus what he has done, the world he created and what will he be doing in the future.

Jesus is the judge of the heart and he is going to kill and punish every single person with everlasting punishment who has not belive him and put their trust in him. no expectations

    Jocelynne Bell,

Only the Father knows the day Jesus will return, Mark 13:32, we are told to watch Matthew 25:13. How do we know Jesus died in the first place, we look back, God said 100s of years before it would happen. Isaiah 7:14 Scripture points to how he will be born, and also to one of the names given to Christ: Immanuel, Matthew 1:23. Micah 5:2 This scripture tells where He will be born and from what tribe, which was Judah, Matthew 2:5 Luke 2:4.

Psalm 22:7-8 This scripture tells how they will ridicule Him, Matthew 27:40-43. Psalm 22:16-18 the same refers to the actual crucifixion of Christ, Matthew 27:35,39,41,49. Isaiah 53:5 tells they will pierce Him for our transgressions, and by his wounds, we are healed, John 19:34.

I could list more scripture that was written 100s of years before that is clear that it was Jesus our savior that was told of before and what would happen to Him, and we can be sure He will return the same way as He ascended Acts 1:10-11 Revelation 1:7

God bless and have faith; If prophecy told it would happen 100s of years before and it happened have no doubt it is true. He is coming back and will set the kingdom upon the earth.

  • David - In Reply - 3 years ago
Hi Tony It is not uncommon for any person to take scripture and so to speak squeeze to mean what they

think or believe. Jesus Christ was not white, he was born and raised in a ancestry that was at least tan or

dark skinned. The point about angels or messengers from God, they can appear and disappear in luke 2:10-15

they appeared then went away to heaven. When talking to abraham they ate food, when talking to manoa

the father of samson he went up in the flame. These are spiritual beings with supernatural abilities that are

operated at Gods Authorization to perform His Will. They appear in the form and function according to what

God wants. Now the same is true for the adversary, only his messengers are known biblically as devil spirits

do and function according to their leaders will which is steal kill and destroy, anything to get man NOT to

believe in the true God or His Son Jesus Christ. We first go to scripture and if what's being said doesn't line up

skip it, if it does absorb and do. We never bring Gods word to our level, we need to go to the fountain head of truth

Gods Word. Ask God to show you, but what he does will never contradict His Word, because the

scripture is written spiritual knowledge of God 2 Peter 1:20+21.

Coy With all due respect the swaddling clothes had nothing to due with death or resurrection, it was eastern culture

in regards to royalty, what he was buried in was two pieces, the swaddling clothes is one piece, just for the record.

    It Is Written!

Yes.the swaddling clothes also swas a pictue of jesus death. the manager was were a lamb that was unblimished for there rititual of law, it was a picture of royality, a king. thanks maybe ou can share more information for us coy.
  • David - In Reply on Luke 2 - 3 years ago
Hello Coy The shepherds were told specifically by the angels that ye shall find a child wrapped in swaddling

clothes a specific sign indicating that indeed who they saw was the Son of God. In the east a male child born

of royalty for a few minutes is wrapped with legs and arms straight to covering everything but the mouth and

nose to breath in a 2-3" clothe that has salt water in it indicating that the child's words would be pure and would walk uprightly before God. So the shepherds showed up at the exact correct time to see this event, Gods timing is

    always perfect.
  • COY PRIDDY on Luke 2 - 3 years ago
there is more importance about what is said about wrapped in swaddling clothes than is preached our about the manager,

I found one site that outlines the nativity accounts.

    Bible Bridge

You may look it up and see if that helps

    Hi Kimberly,

This is a good question. I suggest that you study the accounts and make a four column graphic to write down some major differences and similarities. That may help.

You could also google the question and you may find such a graphic. I have not looked yet, but will do so tomorrow and get back to you if I find something.

Spencer, I never thought about that about a priest beginning is service at 30. I know in many instances in the old testament that men would take a wife at thirty or so (Iaaac and Jacob)
  • S Spencer - In Reply on Luke 2 - 3 years ago
    Hi Bonita,

I agree with GiGi, I believe Jesus was 30 yrs old

Luke 3:22-23. And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

( AND JESUS HIMSELF BEGAN TO BE ABOUT THIRTY YEARS OF AGE, ) being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli,

It may have something to do with serving as a priest.

    Numbers 4:3-4.

    God bless.
  • GiGi - In Reply on Luke 2 - 3 years ago
It is often stated that Jesus was 30 when He began preaching the news of the kingdom after His baptism. And He preached for 3 years or so before He was crucified. I am not sure of the exact age or times, but it was probably within this range give or take a few years either way. He also was in the temple at age twelve and spoke about what was read in the Torah. The teachers marveled at what He said, since it was so wise and mature.

Brother Rick, if his star was a physical star it would have been visible to all people, Herod would not have ask the wise men to return and tell him where they found the Christ child, he could have followed the star as did the wise men.

Luke 2:9 And when they had heard the king, they departed; and lo, the star, which they say in the east went before them, till it came and stood over where the child was.

I really don't dwell much on this, because either way, It was the WORKS OF GOD.
