Generation as described biblically: Please read = Genesis 7:1, Ecclesiastes 1:4, Lamentations 5:19, Daniel 4:3, Matthew 1,
In comparison to your example of Noah- Exodus 20:1-5, Exodus 34:7, Numbers 14:18, Deuteronomy 2:14, Judges 2:10, 2Kings 10:30, 2Kings 15:12, Hebrews 3, Luke 1:50, Psalms 102:18, John 17,
Prophetic about Jesus & other generations- Proverbs 30:12,13,14, Isaiah 53:8, Matthew 11,
If you are speaking of John the Baptist, I have read that it was possibly in the month of Nissan and Jesus being born 6 months later in the month of Tishri. This is based on the record of the services of the high priest terms. Zechariah is said to have the rotation of service in the Temple in the month of Sivan, the month that Elizabeth conceived John.
But as far as Scripture, such dates are not given.
Hi Lollyman7. There are several Scriptures that speak of this 'coming of Elijah'. Those which you quoted: John 1:19-28 and Matthew 11:14. You can also see this in the earlier prophecy of Elijah, found in Malachi 4:5,6, & then we see Elijah with the Lord & Moses in Matthew 17:1-8, with the answer to this dilemma found in Luke 1:13-17. And to quote this in part: "And he (John) shall go before him (Jesus) in the spirit and power of Elias (Elijah), to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord."
So, as we consider these Scriptures in entirety, we should conclude that John the Baptist wasn't the physical Elijah who was earlier translated instead of dying & then in those days appeared with the Lord Jesus. But John was the one selected & prepared of God to receive the same spirit that was found in Elijah to speak to the people with prophetical authority & drive & to be the "voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias (Isaiah)." ( Isaiah 40:3). So, John the Baptist could never say that he was a resurrected Elijah, whom the leaders were expecting, but his message & authority came with the same strength & prophetical voice as that of Elijah.
You said you "want to believe" but then declared "no!" then ask for help?
Jesus encountered a man (family, members) facing a similar dilemma. Mark 9:24, the account in context seemingly starts in : Mark 9:14-29.
The question that I ask you, is what are you having trouble believing?
It's ok to ask GOD to help you overcome disbelief. I had struggled years ago with Jonah 2, because cartoon animation had influenced my thinking. I could only imagine an unbelievable Disney Character inside a whale. Someone said to me something like 'you have to believe all the Bible or none' I prayed GOD would help me. Then one day I heard a report of a man being discovered inside the belly of a fish, fully intact, on a documentary channel. I then heard more than one account.
GOD is amazing at how HE can help us overcome anything. John 8:32, James 1:5,
If you're wondering about Jesus, raising from the grave read John 16:31-33, John 16 whole chapter = this was a written account of a witness, that: Jesus knew all these things were going to happen to him, even the very witness writing this would abandon him._._ beforehand. Matthew 26:32, Mark 14:28, Luke 24:34,
Also Luke 1:1-3, these people were unafraid to die for this truth: Acts 7:59,
What Luke 2:21 is saying this is which what was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb. Other words the Angel Gabriel was instructed by God to name Mary's child "Jesus "
Here's the account.
Luke 1:26-31. And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,
To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.
And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.
And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.
And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
Linda, in addition to Gigi and Ruach reply, let me add context to fully understand and answer your question.
Luke 1:33 Context 30And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. 31And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. 32He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: 33And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. 34Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? 35And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
Luke 2:21 21And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
Elizabeth was in her 6th month with John the baptist when she was visited by Mary; her baby leaped in the womb at the presence of The Holy Spirit of Jesus Luke 1:36 .
Seeing how Elizabeth's husband Zacharias was an Levitical Priest, and his course of abia was in June, that would put Mary visiting her in December 6 months later.
Our LORD JESUS CHRIST was baptized to identify Himself with sinful man. "...and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors." Isaiah 53:12
The LORD Himself was sinless but He died for us that we may be saved.
May all who are this forum be blessed in the mighty name of the LORD GOD JESUS CHRIST.
I hope that you will know our Lord Jesus Christ more and more with each new day He give you to live in this life. It is Jesus Who leads us to the Father, and the Holy Spirit Who leads us to Jesus, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ that activates the working of salvation in one's life. Not Mary, not any saint, nor any other means. Jesus is the ONLY Mediator between the Father and us ( 1 Timothy 2:5. Jesus is our ONLY Savior ( Hosea 13:4; Isaiah 43:11) Mary attested to this in Luke 1:47 in the Magnificat.
Romans 10:8-12 says that if we confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. And in Romans 1:16 Paul say that he is not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes.
Angela, you do not need to appeal to Mary or anyone else but Jesus for salvation and all of your spiritual needs. He is our all in all. Mary was a humble woman. She was eager to agree to being the mother of our Savior. God chose her. She is special for that. But she is not involved in saving us in any way. God could have chosen another woman to conceive our Savior. But there can be no other as our Savior but Jesus. I think Mary was a godly example for all of us. She no doubt was meek and did not wish to bring glory to herself. She knew her role and standing before God. She did not seek more than being an obedient servant of God. She would not wish to have all of the (misguided) adulation given to her. She knows that all of the glory, honor, and praise is reserved strictly for our Triune God. He alone is God and worthy of our worship. Turning to Mary for help is like turning to any other pagan idol, as the Israelites did with the golden calf or the cakes baked to the "Queen of Heaven" (Ishtar), or the Asherah poles to the idol similar to Ishtar.
Angela, much of what the Catholic Church teaches about Mary go back to very ancient times after the flood.....
You made a statement I can't buy that is that the bible Gods Word
Contradicts itself impossible.
I don't say the Bible contradicts itself to say the Bible is false.
I'm saying the Bible contradicts itself because it was compiled by man and translated by man; therefore, there are flaws.
Please provide your insight on the following not being a contradiction,
For with God nothing shall be impossible. ( Luke 1:37)
For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. ( Hebrews 6:4-6)
And please tell me who provoked David, God or Satan?
And again the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them to say, Go, number Israel and Judah. ( 2 Samuel 24:1)
And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel. ( 1 Chronicles 21:1)
I have answered your questions but you have not answered mine.
I don't want to cause contention I like the discussion for truth.
I'm so Happy you're starting to read the Bible! I like starting in Luke myself because it's like straight to the point, shorter with a direct point of view. Matthew, Mark, Luke & John all are perspectives of Jesus' life. I like that Luke 1, Luke 2, shows more clearly the birth of Jesus, the explanation of how miraculous Jesus' birth was in itself but the miracles of fulfilling scripture from ancient prophecy even in His birth, & as a babe. I like how Luke even states: Luke 1:1-3,
Matthew starts with the birth lineage of Jesus as the documents of records, also important to prove prophecy fulfilled & verify Jesus was who HE said He was. Notice: Matthew 1:17,18,
Luke also addresses the family line, ( lineage ) Luke 3:38, also addresses your questions son of GOD in the natural & Son of GOD in the Supernatural.
That's correct, Bobbie. Luke 1:28 says, "And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women."
Mary was highly favoured among women as the one selected by God to bear Jesus Christ Who would become the Son of God ( Luke 1:32). This compliment wasn't given to Joseph, Mary's husband, though he too was specially selected to be Jesus' guardian - but Jesus' miraculous birth (Divinity coming into humanity) required a special woman (a young girl actually) to bring this Holy One into the World.
Words that Paul and Jesus wanted believers to understand and know. Ephesians 1:17 That the God (of) our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the (only) true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. 1 Timothy 2:5 For there is (one God), and one mediator between God and men, (the man) Christ Jesus; Luke 1:32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son (of) the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
I put in parenthesis words that can be passed over easily. A lot of the phrases "deity of Christ", "fully God, fully man", "God the Son" I haven't read in the Bible. I might have missed them. If so I would like to know them. I wonder if their is a benefit in adding to the words the Bible uses to describe Jesus Christ.

BEFORE I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
Do we get a free pass on Judging Gods Workmanship? Because this child was born blind, this child was a rapists seed?
A better question: do we judge God for not making us the definition of perfection, because: our nose is too big, our ears too small, stubby fingers_not long and tapering?
Who is in charge of our beginnings, the variables?
Only a Loving God, only Our Savior, can look into a womb and see perfection, possibilities, future of the next generation.
If all we see are imperfections, no one would be born; given a chance to make the world a better place.
Instead of abortion clinics, why not sterilization instead?
God said in Deuteronomy_Choose Life that You and Your Seed shall Live. Our God is very very Wise.
John 20 Sir just a few scripture on subject matter, Jesus christ stated I can do nothing without my father, also when casting
out devils or when he dealt with satan he was never called God but what have we to do with thee thou Son of the most high
God. also many times after healing people they said praising God for giving such power to men. Also other points only God knows when Christ will return and when the apostles ask for a seat in heaven jesus christ said it is not for me to give. Also when he
ask peter who do people say that I am peter said thou are the Christ the son of God then jesus christ said my father has shown you this. i don't argue this subject matter and not expecting and don't want a response. Just sharing scripture. Last but not least
in Luke 1:31-34 twice the announcment is Son of the Highest gabriel speaking.
I believe you may be mistaken, not the Word of GOD
In my study I looked up the "Court"
The Court : Exodus 27, in the tabernacle, Exodus 40:20-33, the House: 1Kings 6:16-36, 1Kings 8:64, 2 Chronicles 4:6-22, Solomon made,
2Chronicles 24:18-27, Court, before captivity into Babylon, note Isaiah was prophesing of it, in 2 Chronicles,
Zechariah, Zacharias, etc. 2Chronicles 29:1, 2Kings 14:29, 2Kings 18:22Kings 15:8,11, even Luke 1:5,12,13,18,21,40,59,67,
There seems to be several men with same name, but Jesus specified "the son of Barachias" Zechariah 1:1, note: Luke 11:50-51, Matthew 23:31-39, 'between the temple & the alter '
Zechariah son of Berechaih was alive prophesing during the 2nd year of Darius, Zechariah 1:1, seemingly During: Daniel 6:1, Daniel 9:1, Daniel 11:1, the time of rebuilding, Ezra 4:24, Ezra 5:7, Ezra 6:13, Haggai 1:15, Haggai 2:10, Nehemiah 12:22,
Please note Zechariah 7:1, the house of The LORD was rebuilt & Zechariah approached their sin, Zechariah 7, he even speaks of the 70 years of captivity: Zechariah 7:5,
No Martha, the Holy Spirit and the Spirit of Christ are one & self-same Spirit. We understand this because of the Deity of the Spirit (i.e. the Holy Spirit is a vital Person within the Godhead, or Trinity), & by the procession of the Spirit (i.e. the Spirit proceeding from both the Father & the Son, without any change or division in God's Nature).
a. the Spirit's Deity.
Proven by His Names (Equality: 1 Corinthians 6:11; Doing the Work of God: Romans 8:15; John 14:16).
Proven by His Characteristics (All-knowing: 1 Corinthians 2:10,11; Everywhere: Psalm 139:7; All-powerful: Genesis 1:2; Truth: 1 John 5:6; Holiness: Luke 11:13; Life: Romans 8:2; Wisdom: Isaiah 40:13).
Proven by His Works (In creation: Genesis 1:2; Inspiration: 2 Peter 1:21; Begetting Christ: Luke 1:35; Convincing men: John 16:8; Regenerating: John 3:5,6; Comforting: John 14:16; Interceding: Romans 8:26,27; Sanctifying: 2 Thessalonians 2:13).
Proven by His equality with the Father & Son ( Acts 5:3,4; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14).
b. the Spirit's Procession.
Proceeded from the Father ( John 15:26).
Proceeded from the Son ( Galatians 4:6; Romans 8:9; John 16:7).
So, I hope you can see that the Holy Spirit, whether spoken of God or of Jesus, is the same Spirit, for He is one with the Father & the Son. Then when we come to 1 Corinthians 12:13, "For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit", again the one & same Holy Spirit is seen here, but we now see His special work where His coming into our lives, affects our spirits and baptizes us (brings us into union) with the whole family of God (into one Body, i.e. of Christ).
Soul and spirit are two different words, but some seem to think of being the same and are hard to separate in our mind. Hebrew word nephesh meaning a soul, living being, life, self, person, desire, passion, appetite, emotion. The Greek word psuche meaning the soul, life, self, a person's distinct identity. The soul is our personality, and is made up of our mind, our emotion, and our will.
The word spirit, the Bible writers used the Hebrew word ruach meaning breath, wind, spirit, or the Greek word pneuma also meaning wind, breath, spirit. The spirit in us is our breath that is our life, and it is the part of us that can communicate with God through His Spirit, God is a Spirit John 4:24.
In our soul/who we are, us, we live according to what we think, and we practice a wide range of human emotions, and we often respond to things according to how we are feeling. We magnify ourselves, even if what we do is good, we make decisions with our will. The desires of the flesh are very tempting, the spirit of the world.
When we are born again, we are born of the Spirit in our human spirit, He comes to live in our spirit. We receive God in our spirit and magnify Him through our soul like Psalms 69:30Luke 1:46-47. It is like we walk into a room and flip the light switch the flow of the Spirit turns on the light that shines out of our soul.
There will be daily battles of the soul/flesh and spirit, they are contrary to each other. Our spirit/conscience the recorder of all we do and think and what is written in the books. The spirit is the steering wheel of our soul. We can be like the song, Jesus take the wheel, or we can crash and burn our soul.

There are many more scriptures that prove God has knowledge of PRE-born children. He had a perfect will for their lives. I'm not going to judge. Gods Will can still happen if the child is adopted after birth.
It is not as bad as heretics now as in the Dark Ages. But poor people i say, what torture methods! When you experienced such injustice, you would probably admit everything that is not true as well. I have met many many nice people around on my trips :)
It is like all these people were already in my heart, as if i knew about them, as if they always have been, then i have had the experience that they are my siblings, and will never be outside that circle. But i also long to see you all physical faces! Pray with you, read the word together. Have a meal together. And I'm sure in my soul that we'll meet someday. And se what i read among the words today Luke 1:34
Sometimes i meet people who also recognize me. So i think we're already there. But all the earthly things that occupy us. Let us not see these brothers and sisters. When i meet someone, we nod and smile. But I've never really seen the person before. So we have a lesson to experience the kingdom of heaven here on earth, and it is a sanctification so that we really see the heavenly when we look up!
Stay strong in the word and God bless us all, love u in Christ.
Dear first of all, I would advise you and pray for him. But you can also say things straight up in his face that he can stop doing this, if he is playing in a way, since you are not playing. Then this is not fun for you.
God bless u and yours in Jesus name, love u in Christ. Luke 1:34

Hopefully these are helpful
Mary was highly favoured among women as the one selected by God to bear Jesus Christ Who would become the Son of God ( Luke 1:32). This compliment wasn't given to Joseph, Mary's husband, though he too was specially selected to be Jesus' guardian - but Jesus' miraculous birth (Divinity coming into humanity) required a special woman (a young girl actually) to bring this Holy One into the World.
For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.
Luke 1:31
And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
Job 31:15
Did not HE that made me in the womb make him? and did not one fashion us in the womb?
Galatians 1:15
But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace,
Psalms 22:10
I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother's belly.
Psalms 22:9
But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts.
Psalms 127:3
Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is HIS mmm
Exodus 13:2
Sanctify unto me all the firstborn, whatsoever openeth the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of beast: IT IS MINE.
Ecclesiastes 11:5
As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all.
Jeremiah 1:5
Our God is very very Wise.
out devils or when he dealt with satan he was never called God but what have we to do with thee thou Son of the most high
God. also many times after healing people they said praising God for giving such power to men.
2Chronicles 29:1, 2Kings 14:29, 2Kings 18:2 2Kings 15:8,11, even Luke 1:5,12,13,18,21,40,59,67,
There seems to be several men with same name, but Jesus specified "the son of Barachias" Zechariah 1:1, note: Luke 11:50-51, Matthew 23:31-39, 'between the temple & the alter '
Zechariah son of Berechaih was alive prophesing during the 2nd year of Darius, Zechariah 1:1, seemingly During: Daniel 6:1, Daniel 9:1, Daniel 11:1, the time of rebuilding, Ezra 4:24, Ezra 5:7, Ezra 6:13, Haggai 1:15, Haggai 2:10, Nehemiah 12:22,
Please note Zechariah 7:1, the house of The LORD was rebuilt & Zechariah approached their sin, Zechariah 7, he even speaks of the 70 years of captivity: Zechariah 7:5,
Hopefully these are helpful
a. the Spirit's Deity.
Then when we come to 1 Corinthians 12:13, "For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit", again the one & same Holy Spirit is seen here, but we now see His special work where His coming into our lives, affects our spirits and baptizes us (brings us into union) with the whole family of God (into one Body, i.e. of Christ).
Just my understanding.
We receive God in our spirit and magnify Him through our soul like Psalms 69:30 Luke 1:46-47.
God bless,
RLW

There are many more scriptures that prove God has knowledge of PRE-born children. He had a perfect will for their lives. I'm not going to judge. Gods Will can still happen if the child is adopted after birth.
God bless u and yours in Jesus name, love u in Christ. Luke 1:34
