In context to how the Lord used these words, with respect to what were the disciples' thoughts and reactions, of His assessment of the rich young man's problem this was clearly not about asking for things, but about where our hearts are, and in what we really trust for acceptance and blessing from God. In other words, in this particular case, in the context of what was happening just then we are instructed that our salvation is altogether in the hands of God, and according to His goodness and capability. An honest look at who and what we really are, ever since our first parents were expelled as unfit and alienated by sin we were all waiting for the Word of our Salvation to come in the flesh, to undo the works of the devil, and to take away our sins. Next to this, we have nothing to rely on only the power and good nature of our God and Saviour.

The story of the Pharisee and the publican is instructive. God sees the heart. He desires us to be humble. He desires us to trust Him. He desires us not to be ostentatious in our expressions of prayers. He wants us to worship Him in spirit and in truth. May God help us to achieve these goals. The master-key is salvation of our souls.

Steph: If you have no answer that's okay, but don't let the foolishness of false accusations from others guide your heart or thoughts. Salvation is for whosoever:Revelation1:5. True Believers will help, guide, lift, hopefully to bring others into The Kingdom:Revelation20:15

Stephende; I can see that by your often posting, you do have desire to know the Lord more; and you write what you can. What you say about loving and trusting in wealth, is right on! And to answer another, who jumped on your words, Yes! the Angels too had their time to stand for God in truth and overcome the Liar and the Adversary. I hope every Christian can learn from Jesus how to love each other.

The unjust judge is a judge of this world which is corrupted by the illusion of wealth, that it is the equivalent of happiness. The young man who followed the commandments but wouldn't part with his wealth. The eye of the needle describes how we strive for wealth rather than Godly knowledge. The master says" we ought to pray always" The world is one place and Heaven is another. Angels overcom

Humbleone? Are you saying God lets us remove our burdens, then drag them through a hole, into heaven? To pack on again? There never has been a gate:eye of the needle. There's a cord made from camels hair that won't go through the eye. Who can be saved? Only who are called: John6:44/washed Revelation1:5/Baptized with The Holy Ghost: Matthew 3:11/ you will be changed 2Corinthians 5:17 you will know!

"And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken." In 31-34, is an important thing to know about growing in grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. At one point the Lord said that they were blessed because they saw and heard and had knowledge revealed to them that wasn't given to others. But here it is withheld; why?

The world is full of injustices, and willfully misguided and ignorant men. Do we look after the things that the Lord looks after? Are we loving those whom He loves, with more than just our feelings? What do we think of ourselves compared to our neighbors when we stand praying? Do we think of the little ones as how the Lord knows them? Nothing we think of ourselves commends to God us above others.

the "eye of a needle' PPL entered the main gate during daytime. If they came after daylight, there was a small gate that ppl had to come in by because of the danger of attack. They had to unload the camel and have the camel crawl into the city. God used this analagy to show one had to "unload there burdens" before they can enter Heaven.

Irene: The Lord used a needle as an example. again there has never been a gate called as such, never has been.the only thing I found was a rope or twine made from camels hair. Impossible to past threw the eye of a needle. This is about salvation! A rich man cannot enter in. Impossibly! That's why they said who then can be saved? Only those redeemed by the blood of the lamb. Revelations 5:9

The Parable of the Unjust Judge is a great lesson for Christians to understand just how much the Lord Himself is disgusted with and cannot stand the wicked and their works. Notice how the Lord says, "Hear what the unjust judge says! and shall not God avenge His own Elect, which cry day and night unto Him; though He bear long time WITH THEM?" Are you suffering grief and trial? He bears it with you!
  • Irene123 on Luke 18 - 8 years ago
To Bruce - I'm just curious, why is the small gate so important to you that you would 'correct' what I said? The gate has nothing to do with salvation; Jesus just used it as an example.
  • Bruce on Luke 18 - 8 years ago
Irene:There is no such gate with that title, never has been. This cute story that started years back.V:26--- who then can be saved? They know it is impossible, that's why they said who then can be saved? There is only One way! The of Blood of The Lamb! Without His Sacrifice we would be doomed. Hebrews 10:12--- offered one sacrifice for sins forever---; 1John1:9, 2Corinthians 5:17

Many believe they are saved. Many will say to me in that day, Lord,Lord--- I never knew you:depart from me,ye that work iniquity.Matthew7:22-23( eternity is for--) Revelations 20:15,Matthew7:13 many there be that go-

To Daniel - you did know the 'eye of a needle' was the small gate/door off to the side of the large one? the 'needle' was for people on foot, while the large one was for commercial vehicles, camels, etc.
  • Daniel on Luke 18 - 8 years ago
The possibility of a rich man entering heaven is likened to a camel entering a needle. As we pursue our earthly treasures, let us keep in mind the fact that the kingdom of Christ should be above everything.
  • Bruce on Luke 15 - 9 years ago
What a world: And the publican, standing far off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying,God be merciful to me a sinner. Luke 18:10-13.
In the Greek, publican is a tax collector.
Romans 3:10-11 as it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one:11: There is none that understanding, there is none that seeketh after God.
