There is no other name under Heaven which a man is to be saved. And that man is Jesus. Jesus said I and the Father(God) are one.

Let's not leave out the fact Jesus bore the sins of all humanity, so when he died and rose from the grave, our sins remained in the grave. In order for Jesus to intercede and redeem us, he had to live the life of man and overcome sin, that through his blood and sacrifice, he is the only one that is able to save us. "I am the way, the truth and the life, no man cometh unto the father but by me." John 14:6 - This is why we pray to God "In the name of Jesus". I pray you gain understanding, and BELIEVE on him.

mary B: Thank you for your response and I agree, the prayer offered by the sinner in Luke 18 is not specifically a prayer that most have learned if they have grown up in an evangelical church. However it is my belief that it is more a matter of what is in a persons heart, than a matter of the words spoken. As Jesus says in Luke 18:14, "This man went down to his house justified".

At S: while Luke 18:13 is well and good, it is not the sinners prayer that so many profess as salvation.

Our Saviour Jesus Christ perform a multitude of wonderful miracles for the benefit of mankind during his ministry on this Earth yet he never made a single poor man rich!

Jim What's a ghost from God? A ghost is a spirit. A ghost from God is The Holy Spirit. Sometimes called the Holy Ghost. If you are saved, it the spirit lets you know what is good and what is evil. There is a tree in the garden of Eden called the tree of good and evil, if any ate from it, they would know what is good and what is evil. Same thing as the Holy Ghost.

How sad how many pharisees we have today have there own selfrighteous tring to get to god by some other other instead of the only mediator between god and man our lord jesus christ. so many are going to hell without true saving faith in the finished work of the cross. religion or salvation which have you. most have religion not salvation. acts 4-12. praise the lord i deserved hell but he saved me

i think all these things are to remind us not to think too highly of ourselves. God is in control and we find strength in weakness when we put our trust in Him. He knows our frame..try to be humble and teachable.

The Lord spoke in parables, the unjust judge, the rich man, the pharisee and the publican, because understanding does not come to just anyone, but to those who have ears to hear. I am a Jew, as was Jesus, for salvation is of the Jews. Christians forget that God is severe and merciful, and those who proclaim salvation think like the rich man, who was self satisfied, smug, like televangelists

    Matthew 1:20
“But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

    Luke 18: 38
And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David,
    have mercy on me.

42 And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight thy faith has saved thee.

Luke 18:22-30 Ironic that Jesus instructs those who trust in what they have to leave all and follow him, and those who have left all to follow him are admoished to not look in the rear veiw mirror and be sorrowful beacause what God has for them ahead is far greater. I guess it proves that follow or not, our human nature is going to be with us till we get our glorified body.

Man is limited in his power and ability to do things. Jehovah God is almighty and has the power and ability to do the things that men can not do.

Romans 13:9 "For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet..." Luke 18:20 "Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness." **The commandment to honor the Sabbath is NOT found in the NT**

Need to address Eutychus. I believe it is a perfect book to explain how Jesus knows .But what Jesus meant when ask about saved is dangerously interpreted.the man is being tested by the loss of all and he failed.the main part was ignored.THE FOLLOW ME PART! believe in Jesus become a born again Christian and be saved. The Rich man hadn't looked that far all $$$. One way to heaven the blood of Christ!

Verse 11~Jesus wanted to help the lowly and disadvantaged ones but the Pharisees were selfish and haughty.

"Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" The eternal question, deserving the best answer. Today, we would quote John 3:16. But Jesus takes another position, seen in all three synopotic gospels. He said, "sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me." List it under, "Ways to be saved", and think about it carefully.

These days are harrowing as inequities mount to a fever pitch, between nations, between religions, between parties, father against sons, morhers against daughters, ect. Jesus tells the young man after he tells him the Way: Why call me good? None is good but God. Within man is a grand conflct between good and evil, and the Master does not walk the earth to speak Truth. PRAY aiways to God!
  • A disciple on John 3 - 8 years ago
"But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God." I know that there are some very stern-minded brothers and sisters, who are scared to death to admit that they still miss the mark. But we have to think like God thinks, and be honest first of all; or we'll never truly attain that victory we so strongly preach to others. ( Luke 18:9-14)

In verses 1 through 8 the widow would not give up in asking for justice and this changed the mind of the judge. Imagine how much more Jehovah God will answer our persistent prayers.

Jesus said THE THINGS THAT ARE IMPOSSIBLE WITH MEN ARE POSSIBLE WITH GOD. We may think that we can do everything but without God as the Vine we as the branches cannot bear fruit. We are nothing without God Lets praise and worship him alone amen
