Discuss Luke 10

Hi Tdianne. I truly understand your concern on this issue, as it is something I have seriously considered myself. You may be referring to those in your family/friend's circles, where poor money management is occurring; whereas I don't have any around me who are impoverished, rather being exposed to the poor and destitute squatting on roadsides, under bridges, outside shopping centers, etc. I have sometimes tried to engage in conversation with them to learn of their predicament, but have been severely rebuffed for intruding into areas that don't concern me.

However, if your situation is with family/friends, then I feel that you have every right to learn why they are struggling, their management of monies, or their preparedness to get help to budget and live within their means. Oftentimes, such folk are not open to such inquiry or help, rather to maintain their lifestyles, which includes sponging off others. If you know that these folk are genuinely in a difficult place & sincerely making an effort to live with what they have, then I feel assistance is in order. But in any case, they should also be open to getting help to implement a budget so that essential expenses are met first and something put aside for 'a rainy day'.

When we consider that account of the Samaritan who helped the man who was robbed and beaten ( Luke 10:30-37), knowing full well that that half-dead individual had suffered under the hands of miscreants, the Levite and priest still purposely avoided him. But the despised one from Samaria had compassion. Had that helpless man been found in that state because of reckless living, as that prodigal son lived, can anyone expect compassion and help be given him?

So to your question. No, it wouldn't be wrong to not give them help even if you have the money, simply because you're then encouraging their bad behavior, though helping them in the short-term. Rather, your help with sound advice and budget planning will go much further for their sakes. GBU.

At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do. ( Luke 10:21).

We don't often see Jesus rejoicing like this as much of the time if He wasn't rebuking the Disciples He was teaching them. This was a rare moment when we see evangelism; in this case when the 70 were sent out. It is a sobering thought that we don't know how many of these would remain to the end once they got wind of the crucifixion coming near and the increasing opposition from the Pharisees.

I always say that there has to be a balance; and what we can learn from being a seasoned believer is not to let the salt become dull. It is always good to see new believers and their excitement in reaching the lost; but someone truly in the faith won't stop with those efforts after say 6 months or a year. Now situations in life can change; as it was for me taking care of my parents where I was restricted; and moved back to my hometown. I am speaking to myself here as well as I often pass out tracts due to duty rather than rejoicing as I should. We may have learned the hard lessons in life and sadly that involves many these days who have walked away from God; or worse apostatized and continue in the churches. Nonetheless; let us observe what made Jesus rejoice and realize that the focus here was not only on those evangelized but the Disciples themselves who discovered the power over the forces of the evil one. This was a brief moment before persecution and opposition would change course of open extensive evangelism and be centered on warnings about the end times and preparing the Disciples for His departure. We also need to realize that at least a third of the N.T. is focused on the last week of His life in the Gospels.

We are to be in the world but not of it ( John 17:26-etal)

Good news on my end; my restricted diet to deal with IBS type symptoms seems to be starting to work to keep me more regular.

Not that I need that up on a billboard or anything just that I may have mentioned the situation a few months back.

Let us study Luke 10:21 as it has been on my mind the last few days- In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight. It is noteworthy that all other translations I have surveyed other than KJV state the Holy Spirit rather than in spirit. Since He is part of the Godhead perhaps it doesn't mean that much; but this was a rare moment He and the disciples seemed to be "in sync". We also should see that this was the 70 sent out to preach the Good News on a sort of initial "trial run" and they rejoiced that demons trembled at His name.

The following verse clarifies a repeated truth. It states in verse 10:22 All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.

This passage indicates God's predestination and calling of His elect ONLY. Read in the broader context we see surrounding verses discuss that this is the fulfillment of what the prophets of old waited for; and sadly the Pharisees refused to see as fulfillment proving that indeed; He was the Messiah. Just as no one had been healed of sight in the O.T. (read John 9 for context); no one had been freed from demons. We do have the case of Saul being temporarily relieved by David's music; which reminds us of Matthew 12:45.

In this case; the report is of demons that seem to flee merely at the speaking of the Truth as they recognize Christ's authority.

This is probably the most common occurrence rather than today's sideshows often filmed for attention online

God has a plan for you! Stay strong in Him! These things you feel about yourself is the kind of negativity that Satan tries to feed you. But always have faith and rebuke Satan in the name of Jesus Christ and tell him to get behind you. God gives us power over all our enemies ( Luke 10:19). You are sooo loved! John 3:16! Don't give up! I love you and more importantly God/Jesus Christ love you!

Dear "Sherilann" faith in the Lord and seek His righteousness, is the only thing we can do. Believe that He has the solution for all things, even what others do to each other. We adults may say we are children of God, but all children belong to the Lord Jesus. He says Let all the children come to Me, Do not hinder them. For one thing is certain. We can only correct one child, but they are only on loan. and with all the unreasonableness and evil, we can do nothing but trust in the Lord. And do our best in all things in the name of Jesus Christ. Never loose hope and your heart. In Him we find Love and peace. Luke 10:38-42

    Matthew 22:33

The crowds as usual rejoiced in what Jesus said. This could be for several reasons; since many no doubt hated the religious establishment and perhaps non Jews were scattered about that felt the same way. They also could rejoice that there is a resurrection or just the fact that they perceived Jesus as a very clever guy.

    Matthew 22:34-38

Jesus responded to the Pharisees in their third attempt to confuse or trap Him. The greatest commandment was listed as an amalgamation of the Old Testament commands. The first command was the literal first command of the Ten Commandments. The second appears in Leviticus 19:18 which many may not know.

Studying scripture further we see two examples of the 10 Commandments; both in Deuteronomy and Exodus. The idea of not coveting anything of your neighbor such a His wife (commandment #10); or committing adultery (7th Commandment) certainly show how the idea of a neighbor can tie together as one example. Sins are against God in all cases but may or may not affect other people. As to who a neighbor is we see that illustrated in Luke 10:29 which goes beyond just caring for fellow Israelites.

    Matthew 22:39-end

Jesus then asks the Pharisees who the Son of man is; and quotes Psalm 110. Their concept of being a physical son of David was only in regard to the descendants of Joseph. Some of course accused Christ of being illegitimate; but the truth was that He also was NOT a physical descendant of David as we would think. This interesting truth comes from a promise made to Jeconius in Jeremiah 22 that NONE of his descendants would be king. This is another explanation of the need for a Virgin birth. No doubt Satan was watching things very carefully as we see the many attempts to destroy God's people in this lineage not the least of which was prophesied in Jeremiah 31:15 and fulfilled in Matthew 2:16-18.

It appears after this that no one asked Him any questions. His greatest trial was soon to come.

Matthew 19 discusses the fact that anyone who wants to enter the Kingdom of Heaven must be as a child. In fact verse 10 states

10 "See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven. [11] [a]. Apparently some texts add Luke 19:10 after this about God seeking to save the lost. Causing one of them to stumble also is a severe warning in verse 6

6 "If anyone causes one of these little ones-those who believe in me-to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.

Some argue this can mean those who are babes in Christ rather than strictly children. I can see that as plausible; certainly consequences of causing someone to sin because of our own sin against them or leading them astray is a very scary thought.

Nonetheless we see other verses where the children come to Christ in 3 of the 4 Gospels. Children praising God comes from the concept of Psalm 8:2; we see this in Matthew 21:16; Matthew 11:25 and Luke 10:21 show "babes" having things revealed to them. Again whether it is babes in Christ ( 1 Cor. 3:1) or in the context of actual children; it is pretty clear children are the main focus here. Verses 8 and 9 also show how horrible hell is in regard to cutting feet or gouging our eyes out as being preferable.

I take this as literal truth; not that doing such a thing will keep us from sinning as there are always other ways that can be found; we don't see any scriptural evidence of anyone doing this but clearly hell is worse than any earthly sufferings and to be avoided at all costs. The main concept here is that any sinful lifestyle indicates an unrepentant heart; we need to put to death our members such as Colossians 3:5 indicates.

    Q&A "Taught of the Spirit"

Q: Isn't the householder in the Parable of Jesus about the Son?

A: Parable itself as the Spirit introduced through the prophet refers to it. "That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world."(Matt.13:35). The Word establishes Jesus Christ as the son, as the householder of whose house are we."But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end."(He.3:6)

Mysteries which have been from the worlds began, the Gospel of God Jesus made manifest in his life. He was like the householder which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old. Much of these things his disciples could not first understand but the Word made flesh made them catch on,"Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea, Lord."(Matt.13:5-52). How does the Spirit teach but by principle of Association? "He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me."( Luke 10:16; Matt.10:40)

Synoptic gospels are written by men of old as taught of the Spirit. Jesus presents the doctrine of God against the backdrop of the mountain God. Sermon on the mount is how the householder sets him emblem as the stone cut not with hands. Where as in Luke we have Jesus sending the other seventy disciples and it is concerned with the everlasting gospel and the end times. Beatitudes as delivered by Jesus is set in the plains, "Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain" (Ze.4:7) This is also about the same mystery, of 'the house of my rest'. (Is.66:1) which St Matthew ans St Luke are approaching from different angles.

Loretta, I am sorry to hear about this major challenge, it must be terrible for you. I am going to pray for you. But I am also going to give you some practical steps to take. I shall divide the response into two parts. Part A & Part B.

    PART A:

Loretta, As challenging as it is YAH/GOD is well able [ Daniel 3:17]. Also you were born for a time like this [ Esther 4:14 ]so the ability to conquer this in YESHUA/ JESUS Name has been placed in you from even before the foundation of the world [ Ephesians 1:4].

You are at war. The first thing you need to do is:- develop a warrior's mindset. A warrior in YESHUA knows that YAH said HE would fight for you and you will hold your peace. [ Exodus 14:14].that the battle is HIS [ 2 Chronicles 20:17] that HE is a man of war [ Exodus 15:3] That HE has given you the power to trample on snakes and scorpions and all the power of the enemy and nothing in no way can hurt you [ Luke 10:19] That the battle has already been won [ Colossians 2:15] When you speak HIS Word you are only reinforcing the victory.

Be obedient as disobedience is witchcraft [ 1 Samuel 15:23]. It gives the devil legal rights. So if YAH/GOD has told you to do something, do it. At least 50 % of your problems would cease because YAH/GOD /would back you up when you are obedient to HIS Will.

The neighbor has studied you and tried you to see who you are and what he can get away with. As he studied you and has a 'file' on you; you now need to study him and create a file on him. And regarding the things you discover, take every thing you find out about him to YAH in prayer. Always ask YAH/GOD to "Uproot the confidence of the wicked []

Stop the demon neighbor's actions with prayers. For example he knows when you are going to bathe and he abuses you. Prepare for him. He expects you to do the normal and he expects to get away with it. So find several right bible verses. Write them out in a book.

    Q&A "Seven days"

Q: The multiples of seven throughout the Narrative sets the Father Son relationship. It must be based on the covenant. Can you elaborate on this?

A: Yes. It is seven days which are determined by the Law of the Spirit. He is the Word, the sound as well as the sign. "For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell."(Col.1:19). So 7 is made up of 4+3. This shall be seen in covenant where first four days refer to heaven while the last three days are imposed on the man component in the Son. He has a volume as well as a steward his creation is under his charge. He has to enter into the rest assured on the day Seven. Jesus Christ in the inaugural vision of John is seen holding seven stars. He is there as the Law figuratively presented which refers to 7x1000 that God has reserved for himself. It is to which God reveals to the dis-spirited Elijah. It is similar to 12x12x1000 that are seen standing on mount Sion. Both Father and the Son are co-signatories so to speak.

"And they came to Elim, where were twelve wells of water, and threescore and ten palm trees:"(Ex.15:27)We find seventy palm trees and twelve wells at Elim and the Spirit reports that God proved them there. God was present there as well as the Word. The Israelites camped by the waters. In rejecting the call of Jesus Christ they rejected the living waters. ( John 7:37-38)."And the Lord said unto Moses, Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel." Anointing the elders was a forerunner for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit which refers to the truth,"My Father worketh hitherto and I work.""Receive ye the Holy Ghost."(John20:22) Jesus appointed seventy other disciples.( Luke 10:1)

In the Book of the Revelation,"And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven."(11:13) The tenth part of the city refers to Decalogue.

    Q&A "Up Down"

Q:"For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven." Where do we see the Gospel of God in working while we follow the woman displaced from her position. Or the vision of John sets the will of God in terms of Jesus Christ, in mid-air the earth and in lower parts?"

A: We saw in Ch.6 with the breaking of the first four seals the riders setting out each after the path appointed by God so the rider on the white horse ses forth to conquer and conquering. In Ch.12 "And there was war in heaven:" (vv.7-8) As a result there are fallen angels. Angels "which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day." Re.12:9. The angels in v.9 are part of the corruption of mingled people that shall leave its taint till that great day. In this context we shall look up the significance of 120 days in Ge.6:3. Gospel is set in terms of "After our likeness" so 12x10 is not as many numbers but those who shall find their way into 144,000 in Re.14:1. Because God chose them. They turned around their own lives about the Law of the Spirit which refers to Ps.119:89

One point to remember what we are talking about resurrection having their own order does not apply here since the vision is the will of God all mapped out in entirety. For this reason Jesus shall see,"And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven."( Luke 10:18) The woman preserved in the wilderness carries number of days which is Gospel based. " And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days."The tag of earthly ministry has its own significance (v.6) as "where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time,"(v.14)

Lastly Noah is set "after our likeness' So the volume of the Man is set in terms the ark as the holy city of God has is volume for each saint. (Re.21:16-17)

Hi Ronald. Thank you for those thoughts concerning this passage of Scripture. You asked whether the Luke 16:19-31 account was literal or simply a parable. I have tried to recall the many instances of Jesus' parables given us in the Gospels, & I find that in all of them, His parables are as you said, just "a simple story to illustrate a moral or spiritual lesson". So, even the Luke 16 account also fits that particular description: of a story with a lesson to be learned.

However, why I believe that this account does not entirely fit the description of a parable, is because Jesus is sharing very specifically of what takes place in the afterlife between certain people in a specified place. Apart from maybe Luke 10:30-37 (The Good Samaritan parable), where places are named (i.e. "from Jerusalem to Jericho"), I don't recall Jesus ever indicating where the events in His parables took place (e.g. concerning the lost coin, the sower in the field, ten virgins, the prodigal son, et al). And probably more importantly, in His parables, He never uses the names of people, as He did in Luke 16 (though the rich man's name was not given). Had he done so in any of His parables, His audience (specifically the religious leaders), could well have a good argument against Him as being a liar & a deceiver.

But here in Luke 16, Jesus takes the bold step to name the place (Hades), and the names of Lazarus & Abraham, something He correctly avoided in His other parables, which were, as you stated, just simple stories. Here, Jesus is giving sinners a glimpse into the afterlife (as pertaining to that point in time, pre-crucifixion/resurrection). I know nothing of Plato except what the Bible states & teaches, & to me, this place in Hades was certainly not a time & place of purification (purgatory), but of judgement, probably with those in-waiting for their judgement post-crucifixion. Onto Page 2.

    Ex.25:8-9 "Shadow of heavenly things"

What God showed Moses on the mount was a pattern, "the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.(He.8:5). According to the exposition of Gill, "Tabnith", the word here used, signifies the structure and disposition of anything, i.e. the form of it in a four square, in roundness, in a triangle, or in any of the like figures. It is the volume of Jesus Christ the Man component where the Word become flesh gives the Father Son relation its own marker. The writer to the Hebrews makes it evident. Besides the Spirit sets an example of the relationship in heaven by setting Moses in terms of his brother. Moses is diffident and he persists from taking on the charge of God to his fury and finally settles for an Association. God will speak to him the word " And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do./And he shall be thy spokesman unto the people: and he shall be, even he shall be to thee instead of a mouth, and thou shalt be to him instead of God."(Ex.4:15-16) It is like the power and wisdom of the Word is user friendly. God works with Man (Moses and Aaron) so the people are in the know of what is expected of them.

The Spirit moving upon the face of the waters (Ge.1:2) likewise works Up and Down. Moses and Aaron consequently are taught what they should do. So Aaron and the priests serving God are associates. This principle is what we find in Matt.10:40 and Luke 10:16)

"According to all that I shew thee, after the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the instruments thereof, even so shall ye make it." The phrase 'all that I show thee' can only be Jesus Christ "And he is before all things, and by him all things consist."(Col.1:17)

    Luke (Part 19):

Luke 10:41 - And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:

Careful is the word for anxiety. It is the word MERIMNA which I have mentioned before. It means to have the attention of your mind occupied with something. It's the word for worry and anxiety.

It is Satan's only weapon against a believer in Christ. Once you are saved, you belong to Christ. The second part of Christianity, after salvation, is the renewing of the mind, and growing in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. Satan can't take your soul, so he gets you distracted and occupied to take you away from the word, so that the Lord can't heal and mend from the damage of sin.

And then troubled (TURBADZO) means turmoil, and it represents an outward expression of an inward thought. It is great how the Greek gives us a better picture of what's taking place in this verse.

Luke 11:3 - Give us day by day our daily bread.

The Greek word for "daily" is the word "necessary." The emphasis is that I am praying for my needs today. Not tomorrow or the next day.

The daily bread, which is necessary for today, whatever my sustenance is, today I pray that God will provide for that. I have to trust that whatever His provision is, that is His will for my life. I might not get to eat at In and Out Burger for lunch today like I would like to. It might not work out that way, but I'm trusting in the Lord to provide for my needs.

Luke 11:8 - I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth.

This word importunity in the Greek means shameless persistence. You may have only heard the word persistence in these teachings, but this is shameless persistence. No shame in this man and he is going to keep pounding on that door until he rises and gives him as many as he needs.

    Luke (Part 18):

Luke 10:39 - And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word.

The word sat and hearing in the Greek denotes that it was a continuous habit of her to do. It is kind of interesting to see the characteristics of people? She loved to sit at the feet of Jesus and hear His word.

Luke 10:40 - But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.

This is great. I love to study about Martha. The word "cumbered" is one of three important words in this text.

First word (Cumbered), it is a fishing term that means having the net pulled up around you as if you were a fish in the sea and you are caught in the net. You are caught in the net and the net is being pulled up around you.

Now, about "much serving," because Jesus is in her house and He is teaching, and she's the only one in the kitchen serving. So, you can see her dilemma here.

And she came to Him, and in the Greek text it means this; and I think this is great, poor Martha! At least we don't have her last name so we can't slander her too much.

Reading it from the Greek text, it says she burst into the room and stood over Him. And she says, Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me alone to serve?

Now, apparently the Lord nodded yes because she says, well then bid her to help me "if you care." Obviously, all this time she's been in the kitchen "stewing!" So, tell her to help me!

    Luke (Part 17):

Luke 10:4 - Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way.

This word "purse" is not we understand a purse to be today. Back in those days, this was a small pouch that they carried money in. It was a money bag.

Luke 10:5 - And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house.

That is a Hebraism that means when you come into a house or into a city, you're asking for SHALOM, is there a son of peace here? Meaning, are you receptive to Messiah?

If they are rejecting the message they have about Jesus Christ as Messiah, then they are told, may your peace return to you, and you leave that house. It has to be a house that is going to be at peace with Christ, and at peace with them, for them to stay.

Luke 10:18 - And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.

And Jesus said unto them, notice the literal translation, I was beholding Satan as lightning fall from heaven.

The verb "beheld" is where we get our English word theater from, THEAOMAI. And it's in the Imperfect Tense which means continuous action in the past.

He says I was continuously viewing Satan as lightening falling from heaven. The Lord is basically saying I have started viewing the beginning of the fall Satan.

Luke 10:21 - In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.

These are the NAPIOS, the little babies. These are newborn babes. Even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.

Luke 10:33 - But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

So, he says a Samarian comes down where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him. This is the SPLUNKNOSE that I had mentioned before, the down deep compassion for people.

    De.32:1-3 "The Living Waters"

The Spirit makes an unbroken narrative thread from the beginning till eternity. In Ex.15:27 the Spirit gives us 12 wells at Elim."where were twelve wells of water, and threescore and ten palm trees: and they encamped there by the waters." The number 12 foreshadows Christ exhorting,"In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink." ( John 7:37). What Moses qualifies as 'my speech' refers to him. This is 'my doctrine, the Gospel of Christ. Up and Down and Across the Gospel has the tag 12 and it does not change.

At Elim there were 70 palm trees (7x10) and they signify trees of righteousness. We have 70 elders upon whom God sent the Spirit and they were the Associates of Moses. This Seventy foreshadows the seventy other disciples whom Jesus sent to preach. ( Luke 10:1)

"And theLordsaid unto Moses, Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel, /And I will come down and talk with thee there: and I will take of the spirit which is upon thee, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear it not thyself alone."(Nu.11:7-8)

Compare the vision of Ezekiel with Re.22:1-2 "And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine."(Ez.47:12)

The living waters beginning from heaven holds both heaven and the earth as one and this pure river of water of life gives us what everlasting to everlasting would mean. (Col.1:17).What does this signify? Up and Down and Across can only be understood in him.

    John 17:11 "Thy Name"

"Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are."

We shall accept Holiness as all-inclusive name for 'thine own name" which is on the basis "The Word was God." Virgin Mary stirred by the Spirit defines His name, "Holy is his name." He revealed to Moses, "I am that I am". ( Luke 1:49;Ex.3:14). God gives his own name so the body, the church may be one, "As we are". This pattern explains God was with the Word.

Principle of Similitude sets the realities of heaven and of the earth on a single standard which is the Word become flesh. This is designated as the Man component in whom whosoever heard the call and received Jesus Christ as his Saviour is an associate. This principle is stated in Matt.10:40. " He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me."

In the Parable of the Leaven Jesus sent the Word which spreads from one end of the heaven to another. The Parable is about the kingdom of heaven. "The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened." (Matt.13:33) The everlasting gospel works Up and Down and also Across.

God sent his Word which is sound as well as a sign. So in Lucan Gospel we have the Association,"The Word was with God" stated differently,"He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me."( Luke 10:16)

Evangelist Matthew has the charge given to 12 disciples while St Luke gives us Seventy other disciples. Matthew is referring to the Word become flesh and himself as the Gospel of Christ. St Luke is giving us instead the Word which 'in the beginning' was with God. In both cases the great commission reconciles Up and Down and Across by the risen Christ. "All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth..../and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen."(Matt.28:18-20)

Ac.8:13 "Simon Philip and Peter (1 of 2)

"Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done."

This chapter sets the Spirit leading Evangelist Philip in spreading the gospel of God. Gospel of God is one. When Jesus came from heaven he was the Lord of heaven and he gave how the Gospel shall spead. " He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me."(Matt.10:40) In Lucan gospel the same Principle of Association is set in terms of hearing."He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me."( Luke 10:16). Up and Down Gospel came as the Word become flesh. Now how the same Gospel reaches the outer most parts is by the power and authority of the risen Christ. "All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth./Go ye therefore, and teach all nations." Evangelist Philip was as much effective as the apostles because he was led by the Spirit.

Failure of Simon teaches the vital error of what went wrong with churches of our times. He who hears the word must hear with the ear of faith. Constantine the great heard the Gospel but he only heard it so he may succeed to the mantle of the Imperial Rome. He delayed baptism till the last moment so he would have bth cake and eat it as well. Hie ear of faith was tightly shut to hear the great joy his conversion caused among Devil and in his kingdom of darkness. Now the foolish shepherds have continued from where Caesar Constantine stopped and brought about so many heresies along with it, it is vital to examine what really went wrong.

None shall question Simon who himself believed so his baptism, unlike that of the Roman emperor, in good faith. Faith however did not connect with the authority and power of the risen Christ. He had to make money here and now.

    Re.12:7-9 War-1

God divided light from darkness so one aspect signified divine nature and other the absence of it. Power and Wisdom of God makes both alike to God who is One. "Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee."(Ps.139:12) The Word was with God. This Law settled the matter. Jesus Christ as the fulfilment of the Law submitted to the divine Will declares,"Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,/I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart."(Ps.40:8-9) God settled for light as indicative of His holiness on the logos principle of the Man. God framed the worlds by his word so one becomes subject to the sovereignty of the Word.( John 1:1; He. 11:3). Second reason the Law was to be demonstrated in the worlds made to appear. "Judgement was set, and books were opened" Consequently would settle the matter of darkness. "And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not."( John 1:5). Those who chose light were recorded in the book of life . Faith accordingly became the touchstone. "Law is within my heart" is doable.

The Law intended to give both light and darkness equal weight in the heavenly places. God a Spirit makes angels spirits and the Holy Spirit records both Sons of God on the Mountain of God until sin undid the glory of one. In Ezekiel we read thus, "thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire./Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee."(Ez.28:14-15) God pronounced judgment on Satan,"therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee."(28:18). This is what happens and Jesus refers to it, "And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven."( Luke 10:18)

Ac.5:15 "Shadow of Peter" (1 of

"Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them."

What is the shadow of Peter but he is set as the double for Christ so his words and works are as though coming from him? "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greaterworksthan these shall he do; because I go unto my Father."( John 14:12). So what Peter signified was the continuation of the ministry of Jesus and now having risen it is demonstrated in such 'little ones' as Peter and other disciples. They were in a manner of speaking the lightening rod for a spiritual awakening on earth. But they were beaten stoned and were abused as the prophets in former times that Jesus had warned, "behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues,"(Matt.23:34-36) But Jesus had assured, "but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven."( Luke 10:20). Their place in the day of regeneration was tied up with the cloud of witnesses that cast its shadow. Peter as a man was meant to shed his vile body and put onthe glorious body which God had prepared in his Son. These witnesses, angels also were part of it. We have several instances that these two worlds moved as one, which we shall take up anon. It illustrated He.11:3 that the world unseen is not yet completed.

"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,/Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. (He.12:1-2)

    Hi Tdianne,

As to your question you have received several answers, my understanding in the Bible baptism is done only by immersion as the word means. As Jesse said sprinkling did not start until the 1300s and it was for the reason it was so inconvenient. So, this was done just because of convenience's sake, nothing Biblical about it. I agree with Giannis, and we must believe as Jesus said in Mark 16:16.

All we do is to be done in our Lord Jesus's name, Colossians 3:16-17. Many use Matthew 28:19 but we also see in the rest of Scripture that a person who is baptized in Jesus' name is someone who believes in Jesus as Savior, the Messiah, the Son of God who for us died, was buried, and was resurrected we acknowledge this by being baptized in His name, Acts 2:38 Acts 8:12 Acts 8:16 Acts 10:48 Acts 19:5 Acts 22:16 Romans 6:3 Galatians 3:27 Colossians 2:12 Ephesians 4:5.

Paul shows the importance of being baptized in the name of Jesus, Acts 19:1-6. God has placed Jesus and His name above all that is in heaven and earth, Matthew 28:18 Philippians 2:9-11. Salvation only comes in His name Acts 4:12 Romans 10:13. The name of Jesus is the source of power and authority for healing, miracles, and deliverance, Mark 16:17 Luke 10:17 Acts 4:7 Acts 4:30 Acts 16:18.

We are to give thanks in Jesus's name, Ephesians 5:20. Our faith is through Him and in His name, Acts 3:16. We must believe in Jesus, John 3:16 John 6:47 Acts 16:31 1 John 3:23 1 John 5:13. Whatever we ask for we are to ask in His name, John 14:13-14. We are to pray to the Father in His name, James 5:14. Jesus is our priest and the only mediator between God and men, 1 Timothy 2:5.

    God bless,

John 14:8-11- Our Lord JESUS said:

10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me:

9 Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?

John 10:30- I and my Father are One.

    But,

no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal Him. Matthew 11:27

Luke 10:22 - no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal Him.

Addendum: Demonic "miracles" and answered "prayers" and casting out demons

False signs and wonders are scriptural warnings for the last days; particularly in the Book of Revelation. Most who are of sound mind would cringe at the so called "Kundalini awakening" or other such phenomenon that invokes the coiled serpent within for all sorts of magical powers. What can be said is that as Christians we are promised all power over the evil one; and since that was won at the cross we have no reason to suspect that doesn't still exist as the authority given by Christ over demons according to the promises of ( Luke 10:19). Of course as with all scripture this passage must be taken in context; in Paul's case a snake fell off his arm and caused no harm; he didn't go out looking for some sensational footage; as clearly indicated in Acts 28:5-6. We also don't go out willy nilly after the evil one as the sons of Sceva did without bad results ( Acts 19:11-20). However as Spirit filled believers when we are exercising in His strength and with His authority we are fulfilling necessary service in casting out demons or commanding them not to continue to oppress people. This means; of course that we make sure a person WANTS to be freed; and willing to repent of any sins which give Satan legal foothold on their souls.

There are also demonic incantations or "prayers to Satan" of which I had the dubious distinction of hearing spoken against me a few years back. We need to factor in spiritual hinderances to our prayer as it is scriptural as we see in the book of Daniel and apparently with some missionary efforts Paul had. This doesn't guarantee our prayers are answered but such hinderences certainly make a breakthrough unlikely if we haven't dealt with strongholds in our own lives of entrenched sin as well as in others as well who we hope to see delivered.

The last point for now is that we must be open for others to pray for our needs as well. We need each other.

    Mark 6:45-56

v.10 "And he said unto them, In what place soever ye enter into an house, there abide till ye depart from that place." St Mark also designates the twelve as the associates so the principle of Association is stated indirectly. Those who rejected them was tantamount to reject him who sent them.(v.11a) Compare Matt.10:40; Luke 10:16. The cities stood in judgment and were not part of the house. This explains that Jesus was not aware of the fate of John the Baptist, who would remain within as Erasmus would not join with Luther when broke away from the Mother Church. In his case it did not work, either. Within a century of his death religious wars broke out widening the rift farther. Honor of Herod, the unclean spirit was working among princes of the church. Both Calvin and Luther were not behind in their maneuvering.

v.31 "And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while." Jesus had no interest in news of the day and it was no different than what we hear these days. Dog eats dog and ungodly men make a mountain of molehill of them. Their conspiracy theories are ropes they hang themselves with. So Jesus took them apart after they had completed their mission.

vv.39-40 " And he commanded them to make all sit down by companies upon the green grass./ And they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties".In the multiplying of loaves those who present were to form file and rank and the order within the house speak of worship with a sober mind and peace. Peace of God is the characteristic of the house where they lodged. Rumors of war, accidents famine plagues that assail us from news media tells the world where Satan has them in thrall and what does he flash before their eyes? Honor of a Herod and worth is it? By not giving glory an angel would strike him instantly. What price was his glory? (Ac.12:22-23)

v.46 " And when he had sent them away, he departed into a mountain to pray."

    Matt.24:29-51 Recap (1 of 2)

v.29 "and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken." In Re. Ch.12 we see the reason why."And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,/And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven."(Re.12:7-8) Jesus had warned, "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand."(12:28) This war result in Satan cast down. "for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time."(Re.12:12b.) Jesus ses it happening." And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven."( Luke 10:18) These seventy other disciples indicate the latter end of 'everlasting gospel' mentioned in Re.14:6-8). Jesus is on the earth and yet he see what must yet happen! In the passage one angel speaks 'his hour of judgment is come. In the next verse the second angel announces, "Babylon is fallen' which in chapters 17 and 18 are in detail shown. To our intent and purpose the discourse of Jesus in vv.29-51 cover Babylon, both Jews and the Gentiles. vv.16-20 owe to the Roman army almost at the doors.(v.33)

"'This generation shall not pass' refer to the generation of Jesus Christ. (Matt.1:1) It covers both Abraham and David. Son of Abraham sets him as the Word become flesh. (Before Abraham was, I am- John 8:58) We shall explain the shortening of Great tribulation from this logos aspect. Heaven and earth is set in terms of time on a single scale of Alpha Omega aspect. "that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.(2 Pe.3:8) As the lord from heaven Jesus sends the twelve disciples must integrate the everlasting gospel preached by the 70 other disciples as well. The war in heaven casts out Satan to the earth and he knows 'that he hath but a short time.'. Great tribulation is on reconstituted time vv.21-22

    Matt.18:22-23 "Taking account" (1 of 2)

"Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven./Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants."

'Therefore' preceding the verse connects the verse before which gives us the Perfect number 7 and multiples of it. Kingdom of heaven calls for accounts which is directly pendent to the everlasting covenant drawn up in 'seven' days. God blessed His servants in manifold ways covered by verses in Ge.1:3- till 2:3. In the Parable of Jesus he refers God's commandment to man is service. He is the steward. Adam is a representational figure.(Ge.1:28) These are the Abstract and God shall require of his servants the proof of their service. Seventy is a man's life ("The days of our years are threescore years and ten,"-Ps.90:10). In short seventy years signifies the end times so when Jesus appointed seventy 'other' disciples he is referring to the everlasting gospel.( Luke 10:1)

The Spirit gives us an example of the Min-Max mode of narrative where a specific even veers of to the end times. Malachi 3:1 is a classic example. How we serve today is set in direct frame of reference to the Judgement so without abiding in Christ as so many branches to the true vine we are like the servant who hid his talent in the ground. ( John 15:3)

How does the talent is converted into the quality of service that one does? Gifts of the Spirit is given for building up each servant as well as for the common good. "But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal."(1 Co.12:7). And it is towards the one body to which gifts severally given to each member should count. In short no one may dare offending the will of God by serving as he pleases but according to 1 John 5:7-8.Both heaven and the earth must agree. "For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body"(v.13)

    Matt.18:13 "Joy in heaven" (2 of 2)

The same hour is a tag set by the Spirit so comparing spiritual with spiritual we are on the right track to explain the two witnesses in terms of Jesus Christ. "And the same hour was there a great earthquake,"(Re.11:13) for instance is the duration of his ministry and the two witnesses are part of his earthly ministry. In short the work of the Son as the Word become flesh has to incorporate the divine will of the Father. One cannot be without the other since it explains the rationale of Father who revealed the testimony through an angel as in Re.1:1. It is the glorious gospel of Christ covering two worlds of the Spirit and of the body. Everlasting gospel is another name. Consequently when Jesus rejoiced as quoted from the Lucan gospel refers to the babes, they have their presence before God. Hence Jesus warns,"Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven."(18:10)

"And he to whom the Son will reveal him"( Luke 10:22). Jesus as the Good Shepherd came to save the lost. In delivering man who is dead in sin and trespasses he reveals the mercy of his Father. "And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins/Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience." (Ep.2:1-2) What is the significance of quickening one who is dead? Everlasting life proof of which is the believer and his angel in the presence of the Father are aligned without any distortion. "the third part of the stars of heaven" being cast out is how the believers in this world have handled the truth in unrighteousness. How we walk the talk has grave consequences on the cloud of witnesses. (Re.12:4) This explains the joy in heaven over the one sheep lost and found.
