    Question

Could a believer lose their salvation?
  • Kevin - In Reply on John 5 - 6 years ago
Being judged and sent to hell has nothing to do with you being a good person. It has everything to do with who you say Jesus is. Only He can provide us with redemption thru His Blood alone. We must believe in the True Gospel - His Death, His Burial, and His Resurrection. For God gave us the good report of His Son Jesus in John 3:16. If we believe this then we have life if not then death abides in us. The SIN of unbelief in Jesus is the only SIN that will prevent us from going to Heaven. For salvation is a free gift from GOD to those that believe that JESUS is THE CHRIST.

Hi, Sheldon okay so I am a young teen Christian and I believe that as long as you are saved and you love God and Jesus I think that you should be okay. But I am not God and I can not tell you 100% what will happen. But just pray to God every night before you go to sleep and ask God to forgive your sins. I do, and I always feel better. Just trust in God Sheldon that is the only advice I can truly give you because I dont know the Bible as most people do.

Our wishes to you Karrie & your husband on the occasion of your 26th Anniversary. I know it should be a joyous time for you both, but instead you write tearfully for your unsaved husband. Your post has just reminded me about my own marriage (24 yrs ago) & the text we had placed on our wedding invitation. That was from Col 3:14 "and above all these things, put on charity (love), which is the bond of perfectness". Paul tells us that above all that he has written in vv 12,13, we need Agape Love (Perfect, Holy, unselfishness, faithful), & this Love is the binder of all of the Christian graces. So you could ask this of God in your prayer & if your husband is willing to listen, then read Col 3:12-16 together: to see God's desire for these Holy qualities to be in you both & to seek His Face for help with any shortcomings, so that your marriage can return to that on your wedding day. Let your husband also share & discuss his views on the reading & earnestly ask the Lord for help.

SHELDON: 1. Adam & Eve wanted time be like God. Satan tempts people with food all the time mostly cause it's unhealthy. I like fasting. I tell my appetite NO and mean it. You can drink broth, water but no solid food.

Turn off the tv, the radio; no media. Fast from things you love and FEAST on the Word of God. Do not blab to anyone that you are fasting. Pray and dedicate this time to sit and listen to what the Holy Spirit May teach you in the scriptures. Read whole chapters or books at a time. No skipping around.

Start reading the whole Book Of Romans.

    Everything God does is NATURAL.

    Everything Satan does is UNNATURAL.

That's how you can tell if you are sinning. In your heart you already know the answers.

TO REPENT means to turn around and go the other way.(walk away from the sin). A term 'Backsliding' means to stand still. Your not going anywhere. Once you taste the goodness of Jesus you will never go back to the dark. Taste and see...

Sheldon, 1 Corinthians 6:9,10, reminds that all sinners will not inherit (enter) God's Kingdom. And this includes drunkards, covetous, effeminate, abusers of themselves with mankind, etc. But the Scripture also says in verse 11: "And (of) such were some of you, (but) now ye are justified in the Name of the Lord Jesus", i.e. through Jesus' Sacrifice & faith in Him, all sinners can be cleansed & forgiven & receive eternal life. So why does the Bible speak of homosexuality as sin? Homosexuality was never in God's Design for humans; we were given separate genders, to enter into a heterosexual marriage & bear children ( Gen 1:27,28). Not regarding those who are homosexual because of choice or result of abuse, but those who believe they are born in this way, I would say, that this tendency is not from God, but may even be an aberration in the mind's development. If so, then sin comes about when that desire turns to lust or action ( James 1:14,15). And God's forgiveness avails for those also.

Look into the life of Constantine Simonides, he was likely the greatest forger than ever lived, and he claimed he was the one who forged the SINacticus manuscripts which do not match the Vatican manuscripts. It is full of corrections and I would never trust it for anything.

The Vaticanus (look at the last 4 letters) are missing the entire book of revelation. National Geographic has an article on why many scholars believe at least 5 of the dead sea scrolls are modern forgeries that the museum paid millions for.

SInacticus and Vaticanus do not match each other. I spent a year on this subject in Bible college on the graduate level.

Should we trust the Vatican manuscripts? You know the group that burned people at the stake for daring to have a Bible? William Tyndale comes to mind.

Just trust the scholars of the King James who knew the languages and what manuscripts to use.

The Majority text of the Greek manuscripts are reliable and match each other. God preserved his word.

Hello Bob; This in depth studying of Biblical text is challenging. I am studying various aspects of context in this case. I am thinking that there was an event as described in verse four, and it was recorded. Why is it not recorded in earlier texts? Is a good question. Hopefully, the reason(s) are human involvement without satanic influence.
  • Bob Hilt - In Reply on John 5:4 - 6 years ago
Scott do not fall for that older more reliable manuscripts garbage. Who controls the dead sea scrolls? Those who deny Jesus as the Christ which makes them Antichrists. They refuse to allow Christian scholars access to these documents. They tell us what these documents say. Besides the King James in based on the majority texts which has over 5,000 fragments that match each other. these supposedly older texts do not match each other and are missing entire books. I believe the Lord kept his words pure and preserved them.

If you want to believe Antichrists telling us things do not belong in the King James Bible that is up to you. I mean they want us to believe the scriptures were lost until they discovered the dead sea scrolls.
  • Scott Marino on John 5:4 - 6 years ago
Hello. This verse has been brought to my attention when considering how certain text is to be examined. A type of textual analysis. In John 5 :4 This verse is not included in older, original manuscripts discovered and known as the Dead Sea scrolls. The King James translation was produced many years later, and can be considered an editors note included into the story, and then copied into its place.
  • Jesse - In Reply on 1 John 2:23 - 6 years ago
You may already know this, but words that are in italics mean that they were not in the original text. They were added in by the translators. I don't believe there is any extra meaning to that verse.

They had problems back then with people believing in God the Father, but not in the deity of Jesus Christ. We have some of that today.

Jesus said in John 5:23 that all men should honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that honors not the Son honors not the Father which has sent Him.

In John Chapter 5, Jesus said that all authority has been conveyed to Him. He is to judge all people. And He is to be honored equal to the Father. Most religions believe in a god, or might even call him father. But they will not believe that Jesus Christ is equal.

Jesus said in John 10:30, about the sheepfold, He said I and my Father are one. You can't have one without the other!

But he that acknowledges the Son has the Father also. Whosoever denies the Son, the same does not have the Father:

I think the above comments are on point. Also, there are 3 things knowing the scriptures do: 1. Edification; 2. Increase in God's knowledge and wisdom; 3. For warfare.

But we must turn to Jesus for salvation. The scriptures instruct us on how to obtain salvation, they tell us the benefits of salvation, they also tell us the consequences of not accepting Jesus as our Saviour, but the written scriptures in and of themselves, cannot give us eternal life. They can only lead us to eternal life.
  • Chris - In Reply on Galatians 6 - 6 years ago
Jessica, Jesus is seen as a part of the Triune God (i.e. NOT three Gods, but three Persons or Personalities). And this one God in Heaven are the Father, the Word & the Holy Spirit (1 John 5:7). However, for the sake of the redemption of mankind, God in due time sent His Word to Earth as Jesus, His Son, to give His Life a ransom for all (read Romans chap 5). Yes, God is intimately concerned & involved in every believer's life: He gives us His Spirit to do this work after we are born again (read John chap 3 & chap 14:16-21). We hear God speak to us through His Word ( 2 Tim 3:16) & His Spirit ( Rom 8:16: speaks of the Spirit speaking with our spirit, so we remain in tune with God's Holy requirements for us, how to behave, where to go, what to do, how to speak, wisdom, telling another about Christ, etc). I find the King James version is the best as it has been translated from the original Text (Textus Receptus). But if you don't understand the English, then read New KJV or New American Std.

Chris, we here in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, are not gathering together at our church building. We are meeting in small intimate groups at our homes. We also use Zoom and Duo to "see" each other in a greater number. Even these little things are good for us to keep encouraging and edifying each other with the word of God. Reminding each other that we are sinners saved by grace only. We realize that we can do nothing to save ourselves other than believe in the finished work of Jesus on the cross. John 3:14-21. Ephesians 2:8-9. John 5:24. Cheers!

Hello, I'm not sure if you're joking or serious, but in case you actually believe that I will be happy to clarify. Christianity believes in one God, period. There's several Bible references saying this, including 1 Corinthians 8:6, John 10:30, 1 John 5:7-8. Now, let's break down your comments. The 3 dimensions or personalities of God is not 3 gods, the scripture is clear.

Satan as 'god of the world' is a metaphor for satan just as 'prince of power of the air' is a metaphor 2 Corinthians 4:4. You could use the same logical fallacy to claim that satan must be prince then? No.

Jesus is called the 'arm of the Lord' so does that mean he's a literal arm? No.

The Bible is clear = only 1 God.

Romans were not killing Christians in Paul's day
King James Bible book of John 5:16 - And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day.
John 7:1 - After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him.
Acts 23:12 - And when it was day, certain of the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul.
Acts 26:21 - For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill me.

Let's talk about the verses quoted. First, Born of Water does not mean Water Baptism. "Water" is the flesh birth from your Mom, How do we know? Jesus says in the next verse: "That which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of Spirit is Spirit". We are born sinners(1st birth) then we are born again(2nd Birth). Next Question: How do I get born again 1 John 5: Whosoever BELIEVETH that Jesus is the Christ is born of God. You aren't born again when you're Baptized. Also, read the rest of Mark 16:16: but he that BELIEVETH not shall be damned. So are people damned because they didn't get baptized? No. It is clear that the only reason someone is damned because they did not believe.
  • Benji - In Reply on 1 Thessalonians 1 - 6 years ago
No Baptism is not a requirement to be saved. We are told again and again in the Bible that the man who trusts in Christ has everlasting life immediately.
    John 3:36 says:
"He that believeth on the Son HATH everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." Same in John 5:24 and John 6:47. We are saved by grace well before we even touch the water.
And since grace means a free undeserved gift, any act or commitment intended to merit salvation is necessarily excluded ( Rom. 11:6). Understand all men are saved the same way, by believing on Jesus. That's why the thief on the cross could go to Heaven despite not being baptized.

28-29 Marvel not at this, for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear HIS voice, and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation... notice in these 2 verses JESUS mind is on that day /hour when the POWER OF GOD shall order death to release all in the grave, also notice Revelation 20:11- 15.

Bob Hilt you are right. Check this out; Rom 2:16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel." Notice he didn't say God's gospel. HIS gospel? Acts 16:28-31, Paul has the opportunity to tell this man what it takes to be save. Luke 18:18-25. Jesus has the opportunity to tell this man. Hey wait until they kill me and believe on my blood and you shall be save. Paul teaching is difference from Jesus Christ. God greater then Jesus! St John 14:28 Rom 8:11and St John 5:30 I can of mine own self do nothing- Rev22:12-14 St John 17:4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do." Psalm 72:17-18 Read and compare. Ty

Xs, it mentions all through the KJV Bible that the Lord Jesus Christ is almighty God. Also, to be saved please read Acts 16:31.May the Lord Jesus Christ keep and bless you forever. The word Babylon means confusion, you can research this. The Trinity means the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost, and these three are one, 1 John 5:7-8. Please continue to read your KJV bible, God talks to you through the scriptures.

I have an earned masters degree in the Bible. I assure you the gospel of Matthew was written in Greek, just like the rest of the books of the Bible. There are 5,000 partial manuscripts of the new testament in Greek and ZERO in Hebrew.
Face it is was the unbelieving Jews who killed Jesus in John 5:16 - And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day.
Q: Did Jesus take the Kingdom of God from the Jews?
A: Mat 21:43 - Therefore say I (Jesus speaking to the Jews) unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. What nation? Greeks who gave us the new Testament

( 2 Timothy 3:16 - All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:) Read ( Matthew 25) its all good not just the verse that makes us feel good.

You might find that the same people killing Christians in the tribulation will be the same ones who killed Jesus and the apostles and Christ's followers.
King James Bible book of John 5:16 - And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day.

John 5:18 - Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.

John 7:1 - After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him.
