I believe the Lord granted me understanding of this passage recently. I did not notice it for a long time - the apostle John, did indeed, "tarry" in the flesh until Jesus came to him to give him the Revelation. Our God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ is blessed forever!
Jesus asked Peter three times because He was restoring Peter through forgiveness for the purpose of sending him forward with a renewed spirit revealing to him what is important in discipleship and strengthening him.
Peace and Love of Christ be with you. Yes. A couple of times in John. John 20:30. And one of my favorite verses: John 21:25. ...the world itself could not contain the books that should be written... Lord, I love You!
Before He was crucified, Jesus did miracles so people would believe He was who He said He was. After the resurrection Jesus was a walking miracle. There was nothing left for Him to prove. Now the miracles would be done by His followers through the Holy Spirit.
Weird, but last night I was reading blessings of obedience and penalties of disobedience: Leviticus 26 and Deuteronomy 28. I'm wondering if God is trying to get our attention to come back to Him, in America? Pastor Chuck Swindoll preached the same thing on the radio today. In Genesis 12:1-3 speaking of Israel, that God will bless THEM that bless thee; and curse him that curseth thee'. I think USA has blessed Israel despite Politicians that want stop helping them. It makes sense to go with blessings as opposed to disobedience. Just because it's Old Testament is no reason discount the direction our nation has been going for decades. People are running about hoarding every day and nome of them praying? There's going to be none of that kind of acts in Heaven. We're supposed to be renewing our minds on the Bible, every day, so we can be more like Jesus! It's not funny when the devil has everyone driving around to find toilet paper and stuff. :(
How about when he ate food. What about when He let Thomas touch Him and put his hand into His side. He did in fact give the increase of miraculous catch of fish.John chapter 21. Christ also has breakfast waiting for them. Great question ,how often we forget to remind ourselves of who Christ is after his resurrection from the dead. Can you imagine the joy they experienced when they were with Him by the sea. The same place they were called is the same place Christ leaves them. I will always try and reflect on these times in the hour of temptation. Knowing that He is alive and in control!
In verse 14 scripture states that this was the third time that Jesus showed himself to the disciples . Does the Bible say where he was at all of the rest of the time that he walked the Earth after his Resurection Did he do any miracles.
Verses 15-17. Pay great attention to Jesus' questions to Simon Son of John. Two times Jesus asked Simon "Do you love "Agape" me? Each time Simon responded Yes Lord I "Phileo" you. He couldn't understand that Jesus meant agape. The third time Jesus came down down to Simon's low level of understanding of love. Jesus then asked him Do you "phileo" me?
We must listen well in the spirit to understand what God is saying to us.
21, 22 Notice Jesus issued a order specifically to Peter also notice Peter quickly became concern with what was one of the other disciples was going to do. In verse 23 Jesus be specific to Peter also us in 2019. So when GOD gives me or you a specific a order do not as Peter, who became concern with what about them..
21, 22 Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do? Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.
Sheep and Lambs are All The Believers, His Elect. Jesus is Telling Simon Peter to Feed His Elect. All Through The Scriptures Believers are Called Sheep or Lambs. Know Ye that The LORD He is God: it is He that hath Made Us and not We Ourselves; We are His People and The Sheep of His Pasture(Psalm100:3)Go Your ways; Behold I Send You Forth as Lambs among Wolves( Luke 10:3) Two Different Languages.
John 21:15, 16, 17. v15 Lambs are the Apostles , v16 Sheep are the Jews, v17 Sheep are the Gentiles. v15 see John 20 v21 Christ was sent for our sins, the Apostles are being sent for the establishment of the Church. see Romans 1:16 Jew first then the Gentiles. Every where that Peter went the Holy Spirit was introduced.
Interestingly enough, Jesus leaves us with plenty of information for the believer and pursuers to answer the questions of existence for themselves and equally to inquire among themselves.
"There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples." Some scholars maintain that NATHANAEL of Cana is the same as the disciple/apostle Bartholomew ( Mark 3:18).
Bruce; God has power to give life and to take it away: no man lives any amount of time by his own will by his supposed good health or any natural means; but by the word of God! When God wants one to live nine hundred plus years; what is that a problem? "Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? FOLLOW THOU ME!" John 21:22 Whether our years are short or long!
Mark; "just what is going on here? About knowing and not knowing???" That's a keen observation; and something hardly anyone seems to consider! But the matter of how and to whom the Lord reveals Himself; (even while He's standing right in front of them!); speaks to 'how' and 'to whom' He finds us when He comes. Ordinary circumstances should not be despised; and we should KNOW that "It is the Lord."
" the disciples didn't know that it was JESUS"" yet the disciple that Jesus loved told Simon Peter that it was the LORD" THEN THE DISCIPLES CAME TO SHORE AND DID NOT QUESTION HIM BECAUSE THEY KNEW IT WAS THE LORD"
just what is going on here? About knowing and not knowing???
John 21:12 Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord. One day we will have a glorified body like Jesus and be also able to eat fish.
What is the significance of the number of fish caught in the net: 153.?
Hebrews 11:32,
John 21:25
Lets listen to praise music more.
We must listen well in the spirit to understand what God is saying to us.
I have enjoyed reading your comments throughout this forum as I continue to read God's Word. Thanks, keep up the good work.
